Win 7 64bit - DW CS5.5 - crashes on "Put"

I saw a few very old posts where this happened but no results. I have used 5.5 for a year or more with no issues. Today all of a sudden when I need to put a file on my server, DW closes abrubtly as soon as I click the button with no warning. I have tried rebooting my machine and no updates or changes have taken place since the last time I used it only hours before.
Any ideas?

I seemed to fix it.
I tried an old trick I've used in the past where I change my workspace to another view and then back. I guess this sort of resets your workspace and shakes out the dust or something. Anyway, maybe this tip will help someone else.

Recently I've had occational crashes when putting file to server, but it worked when I rebooted

    Message shows:

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
FYI, I'm using windows 7 64bit on intel i7 machine with 12GB RAM.

Has anyone experienced this issue also?
This is extremely annoying...  why I should pay for software that doesn't work?

"Enable Related Files" isn't the fix for this issue. It's slightly different - I wanted to still load related files, but only the ones local to the file I was editing.
The fix was to use DW's Resolve To IP Address feature. It required adding a registry value - it fixed the issue straight away

You can re-download the software from Download CS5.5 products

  • Flash CS5 Crashing when opening a specific .fla file

I just upgraded from Flash Professional CS4 to CS5.  Everything seemed to be working fine. After upgrading, I started working on a project I had been creating in CS4 on the new CS5.  The file opened originally and I worked on it in the new CS5.  My swf works and the video plays.  All of the external swf files I load in to the Index swf work great.  They were created in the new CS5.  I can open the external swf, .fla files without any problem.  But when I open the one Index file that was created in CS4, Flash CS5 crashes saying there was an unexpected error. I have uninstalled and installed flash several times.  I have tried deleting the com.adobe.flash.plist file and restarting.  Nothing has worked.  I am really afraid I'm going to lose this file and all the work put in to it.  Can anyone help me with some ideas to troubleshoot this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

You're still using 12.0.0, and the current version is 12.0.2.
That looks like a font related crash fixed a while back.

  • PS CS5 Crashes whenever I try to duplicate a layer...

    I have Win 7 x64
This problem just started today, but I've had CS5 installed for a few months now. Every time I try to duplicate a layer, CS5 crashes on me. This didn't happen last time I had this project open, and I haven't installed anything new, programs, plugins or otherwise...
I tried trashing the preferences on starting CS5 (alt+shift+ctrl - click to open) But that didn't do anything...
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks all,
    Aza

The first thing that I would want to rule out would be the video driver, and its OpenGL capabilities.
PS interfaces closely with the video driver, and especially the OpenGL aspect. Just a simple OS update/hot-fix, can "break" the video driver. OS updates are usually transparent to most users, so things do change, but not from any direct action from the user - they go unnoticed.
Check with your video display mfgr's. Web site, and plug in your video card's model on the driver download page. Next, plug in your OS, and check the version number and date of the latest driver, against what you are currently using. If there is a newer one, download and install that.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

    Or bad karma.
Thanks for looking at my problem. This all started a month or so ago and I don't have a clue what might have happened. I initially had problems with 64bit and some Nik plugins so I switched to 32bit and everything was humming along. After all the Nik plugins were upgraded I switched back to 64 bit and I think everything was fine at that point. I'm running the same setup on a Mac Pro so I'm guessing it is this laptop (MBP15) that's at fault, but everything else (Lightroom, Aperture, Final Cut Pro, lots of other stuff) runs perfectly. At this point I'm trying to avoid rebuilding the machine but that's probably inevitable.

  • CS5 crashes on HDR or Photomerge - possible Solution

    Hi friends,
after my PS CS5 Extended crashed everytime when I tried to merge Pictures or make HDR Pictures I tried everything including a lot of Adobe Support without any efford.
Finally I ended up installing the whole system from the scratch including a Photoshop Test and the saving of a recovery point after every bigger software installation... and! At the very end I could fix the "bad" piece of software that corrupted the functionality of PS.
System: Win 7 Ultimate, CS5 Web Premium
The whole installation process went fine until I installed PTBSync (a desktop calendar tool). After this installation PS showed the same error behaviour as before - induced by generating stitches or HDR. The program freezes and Windows reports that PS is not working anymore. After uninstalling PTBSync and restoring the system at the point before installation PS worked flawless again.
Maybe this helps someone withe the same problem - it took me really a lot of time and nervs to find this (particular) solution at the end.

Thanks guys for the posts - I have managed to find the event log and it doesn't even mention Nvidia, which means I may be heading off totally down the wrong path.  See below......

    Thanks again for your help

  • Premiere Pro CS5 crash when adjusting audio gain

Premiere Pro CS5 crash when adjusting audio gain
    The same on another workstations.
    Have any idea?

    Hi Dennis,
I just had a go and can reproduce the problem straight away too.
Created a new project then a new XDCAM EX 1080p25 sequence. Imported a short Sony PMW-350 clip. Dragging it straight to the timeline and then setting audio gain is OK (Source channel mapping preferences set to mono).
However, if I Modify - Audio Channels and then set track format as stereo or mono as stereo and then drag the clip to the timeline and right click - gain, Premiere crashes about 1/2 to 1 second after the audio gain dialogue box appears. Error log below if it's useful.
    Asus Rampage III extreme
    Intel i7 980x @ 3.33GHz
    24Gb ram
    Windows 7 64 bit
Using onboard sound - Realtek HD 6.0.1.6037
Incidentally, I tried with both the default Windows 7 audio drivers and then the Realtek HD drivers installed (I'd previously forgotten to install the Realtek driver when I built the PC)

  • Photoshop CS5 crashes on launch.

I was having issues with Photoshop CS5 crashing on launch. I had ran CS5 Premissions fix from Adobe - but still the problem continued. I could launch the program as 32-bit without problems. Only when I launched in 64-bit mode with the program crash.
Reviewing the crash log, it appeard to be a problem with the ATS.  Clearing the ATS Cache has corrected the problem:
    Shutting down all applications
Open Terminal and clear the current user’s font cache by running this command:
           atsutil databases –removeUser
Once the cache has been cleared stop and restart the ATS server:
             $ atsutil server -shutdown
             $ atsutil server -ping
It takes a few seconds for the server to restart, but when it does it should be running properly.

Thanks for posting this. Font Caches in Cocoa/64bit are problematic. We're working with Apple to try and resolve the issue.

  • InDesign CS5 crashing on launch due to font auto-activator issue

I was having a problem where all the jobs I had been collecting would no longer open in InDesign CS5 without crashing on startup. Just found out today it has to do with the new feature in CS5 that reads fonts from your "Document Fonts" folder. Once I renamed the folder the files started opening up just fine again. Is there a way to disable that feature in InDesign, or has anyone else found another workaround that doesn't involve renaming the folder on every job I collect?
I'm sure it's a known issue by now, but I didn't see anything come up when I did a search.

Same problem here. Whenever I want to open a packaged InDesign document which includes a Document Fonts folder containing some fonts which are identical to my system fonts (10.7.3 in my case) InDesign hangs. The best way to avoid these problems is to clean all system font folders and start managing fonts yourself. Check what fonts are needed for a certain document, avoid using fonts installed by the system. Although it is very generous from Apple, Adobe and Microsoft to give us a lot of fonts for free it is wise to manage them yourself. Check the following font locations:
    ~Library/Fonts
    ~System/Library/Fonts
~User/Library/Fonts (first make the Library visible: from within Terminal type the following command and press Return: chflags nohidden ~/Library)
Remove all fonts installed by Adobe (109 fonts) and Microsoft (154 fonts) to a differrent location. I manage them with FontExplorer 3.0 but you are ofcourse free to use any other font manager you prefer. Clear out any system font which is not needed by the system. Make sure the removed fonts can be enabled when needed. In FontExplorer you can create a set like 'Adobe CS5 Fonts' and put all Adobe fonts in there. This also counts for Apple system fonts which you remove. Create a new set in FontExplorer and call it OS Lion Fonts for example and move all fonts in there. I'd like to point out that I choose to manage fonts myself and I keep FontExplorer's capabilities to organaise fonts turned off (Preferences > Advanced > Organise font files). This way the Finder structure I use to manage my fonts (which is by foundry/designer) is maintained.
Clearing all unneeded fonts keeps the font list short and uncluttered which makes it easy to select fonts in InDesign or any other app. When you are designing things you want to make a selection of fonts you want to use in advance so keeping a lot of fonts available to the system is pointless in my opinion anyway.
Also, this process gets rid of a lot of fonts which you don't use/need  like Chinese or whatever other language fonts. It shortens the font list dramatically. Setup font auto activation/deactivation so that fonts are disabled automatically after reboot or when you close a document to prevent the font list from growing out of proportions.
Below is the list of fonts which I keep installed/enabled by default in my ~System/Library/Fonts folder:
    Apple Color Emoji.ttf
    Apple Symbols.ttf
    AppleGothic.ttf
    Courier.dfont
    Geneva.dfont
    HelveLTMM
    Helvetica LT MM
    Helvetica.dfont
    HelveticaNeue.dfont
    HelveticaNeueDeskUI.ttc
    Keyboard.ttf
    LastResort.ttf
    LucidaGrande.ttc
    MarkerFelt.ttc
    Menlo.ttc
    Monaco.dfont
    Symbol.ttf
    Times LT MM
    Times.dfont
    TimesLTMM
    ZapfDingbats.ttf
I haven't checked Times yet but I think it can be disabled. If you think Times is causing problems and you rather want to activate it yourself when it is needed or you want to use it you can remove it from the ~System/Library/Fonts folder. Drag the font to the desktop to make a copy first. Next trash the font file. Enter your admin password end you're done. If a font is needed by the system it gets restored automatically and you get a notification like "The system font 'HelveticaNeue.dfont' had been restored. This font was removed. Mac OS X needs this font to display text onscreen."
If you don't use FontExplorer you can use Onyx to clean font caches when you are done clearing out unwanted fonts. Always reboot afterwards.
    Hope this helps.

  • CS5 Crashing - Can't install fixes/updates.

Have registered versions of CS2, CS3, and CS5.  However CS5 crashes regularly particularly on opening files. Apparently update 12.0.1 for CS5 corrected many of the crash issues.  When I download updates via CS5 'Help-Updates' - they don't download and install properly.

  • InDesign CS5 crashes when variables copied: has this been fixed in CS5.5?

Can anyone let me know if this bug has been fixed? I haven't had a reason for upgrading but if this is fixed then there is a reason! I am using variables all the time now, and removing variables then replacing them after I have copied the text they are in is really timewasting.
    Thanks

OK, I just made a new blank file in CS5.5, and defined a custom text variable.
The second link seems not to be related, but the third one was pretty clear.
To test I made a text frame and filled with placeholder text, then inserted the varible in a random position. I tried both copy and cut and I can paste to another location in the same file, paste as a varible into a new ID file (it brings the defintion with it) and paste as plain text into Notepad Word 2000 and Excel 2000 (apparently I hate the 2010 versions so much I didn't install them when I upgraded the hardware a few months ago).
I'm on Windows 7, so I can't swear things will work for you (can't swear they will even if you are also running win7), but the indications are that the functionality is here without crashing. You might want to make a backup image of your system in it's current state (so in case things don't work out you can get back easily) and install the trial for CS5.5.
That said, I figured I ought to verify that there was a problem in CS5, and at least for me there is not. I am able to repeat the above test without any issues in version 7.0.4 and in CS4, version 6.0.5, as well so Im more inclined to think there is either some Mac-specific issue (I think the other users were on Mac, and you haven't said) or there is some other problem that is configuration-specific, probably a software conflict of some sort, on your system that is affecting you and that this is not really a bug.
If you post a sample file somewhere that you create that crashes and put a link here, I'll take a look at it and see if it also crashes here.

iTunes 10.4.1 does not open (Win XP, 32 bit) crashes always when trying to start Itunes.
Tryed to repair, new installation, nothing worked.
Can anybody help me, any idea?
    Thank you, mrlavazza

Sorry for this late answer. I had not to time hanging around on the pc. Thank you for your help.
    I solved the problem, lucky!
After deinstalling all Apple Software (except safari) I started the PC again and installed Itunes another time.
It worked, so I am happy, still not knowing what was the problem.
The best thing is, that my mediathek is still running (I hoped so, it was put on another harddrive.)
Updates should not stress that way...
    Thanks again for supporting,

  • CS5 crashed and now I can't get my 5d Mrk III files to load

CS5 crashed, lost all my actions and then a clipping warning or something happens to certain colors like blues and greens.  Those colors are all blacked out but when I save the image it is fine, makes it hard to work on the image with that.  I have tried to figure out how to turn that off but nothing.  I was told I might need to uninstall and then reinstall, so I did that.  But the clipping is still there and now Bridge does not recognize my canon 5d mrk III files.  Downloaded updates for my camera but nothing changed.  Tired to update photoshop and says there is an error and can't update.  I need this solved asap as I have a wedding I need to start working on today.  Please need help!

to get a clean install of PS, you will need to uninstall it again - I know a PIA.  Then use the cleanup script, which will remove things your OS uninstaller didn't catch - hopefully the issue you've been having.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then try and reinstall ACR 6.7  It looks like for that camera, ACR 6.7 might have been a partial build and the full one is ACR 7.1, but that only works with CS6.  If you still have problems with opening the files, you might want to try a dng converter and save the files down to a version that CS5 can handle.

  • Bridge CS5 crashes when opening

    Joseph Heller would be proud.
Adobe Bridge, CS5 crashes when starting up.  I downloaded Photoshop CS5 Extended, installed it on my new MacBook Air (this computer has never seen any CSx product).  Installed the CS5 serial number, installed the SC4 legacy serial number, all is well.  Photoshop runs fine.  I installed all my Nik plugins and Bokeh Plugin.  All is well.  I tried running Bridge, and it crashes during the launch "The operation could not be completed.  An unknown operating system error has occurred."  Adobe released an update, which I downloaded, but during installation, it too crashed (couldn't perform the update and provided a link to Adobe support.
Fours hours later with Adobe.  Tried:
    1) Deleting the PLIST file for Bridge, no luck.
    2) Tried the Option Bridge trick to reset all preferences in Bridge, no luck.
    3) Created a new Admin account, logged into it, Bridge worked.
    4) Adobe technical help said it is now an Apple problem since the program worked with the new admin account.
    5) Apple said pound sand, it's an Adobe program, it should work regardless of which admin account.
    6) Back to Adobe, talked to third level (still tier 1) person, it's an Apple problem.  He suggested deactivating Photoshop, un-install Photoshop, run a clean script (which I just downloaded but haven't tried) which will wipe out any files that has to do with CS5 that the un-install program doesn't un-install (totally logical), re-download and re-install everything, again (I haven't tried this yet).
Doing a Google search for Bridge crashing while opening reveals a frightening amount of comments with people having similar problems (don't even get me started about Adobe Air).
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Arnie...

Guess I'll have to take it to the Apple store and have them reinstall everything. My first experience with Macs is making Microsoft look totally brilliand at this point. I guess the thing that has really ticked me off about this whole thing is that Apple support (who must obviously know of this kind of problem) wouldn't give me the time of day unless I paid $249 for their care plan because I was past my 90 day "warranty"
Sorry to hear that and yes, support from big companies is not what it should be, can't argue with that.
However assuming you did back up important files (if you had any in that short period) and you have all the serial numbers there should be no problem to install all of it your self again if needed.
If you keep pressing the on/off button on your machine it will get you a force Quit and the machine will shut down. The press again to restart and if no luck try to insert the install disk  (but here i'm a bit at loss, don't use Lion yet and have not bought a new Mac for 3 years but I assume there is still an install or repair disk that comes with your MacBook??)
With the disk in the player keep pressing the 'c' key when starting the computer and the computer starts from the disk.
You can first use disk utility from the install disk and use the option to check and repair disk first.
It really is not difficult and you will be better off when experience installation by yourself and in no time don't need support anymore
