Win 7 and E3000 router

I have just bought an E3000 router when my old router died last week.  I am having two problems:
1.  The data rate slows down after a period of time (long message trail elsewhere)
2.  I cannot see everything on the network.
I have several Win 7 computers, two win xp computers,  three NAS devices (linux based), and a printer sitting on the network, along with two switches to cope with all the traffic (not to mention iPods, iphones etc.)
With my old router, I couold see everything plugged into the network from my main Win 7 computer. (note:  the win 7 network map does not always work, but the windows explorer window of the network always showed everything).
With the E3000 router, I can only see 1 or 2 of the devices on the network.  If I reboot the router, then sometimes all of the devices appear on the windows explorer window (sometimes not)
I am running a workgroup (not a domain) and i am not using win 7's homegroup because that will not help with the non-win 7 devices.
Is there a setting that will help me to see all of the devices in Win 7 (either on the router or on the computers). I suspect it is a router issue as it worked with my old Zyxel router.

Dudztgp:
Sorry the colors of the link didn't show up well and I missed it.
My issue is that the computers cannot see each other in windows explorer.  Most are wired connections and if you go to windows explorer and look at network you only see yourself most of the time - not the other computers or the NASes.  This makes sharing files difficult when you cannot see them.
I have central files sitting on the various NAS devices and i cannot see them in explorer. The Cisco Connect says everything is connected.
Everything that should have internet access does, the issue is this side of the router.  It is almost as if the message that a computer is on the network is not being sent to the other computers - like the router is blocking it.  As I said before, the old router did not have this issue.
thanks
...steve

  • Airport Express and WPA2 on Linksys E3000 Router

I'm running MS Windows Vista. I have a Linksys E3000 router and an Airport Express both with updated firmware.
I have segregated my wireless network: My Xbox is on the N-speed band by itself and everything else, including my iPhone 4, is on the g-speed band.
My wireless network works with full Internet access but I can't connect my Airport Express to it. I need help connecting my AE to my existing wireless network so I can stream iTunes music from my PC to the AE.
According to this link: http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/specs.html "When joining an existing wireless network, AirPort Express supports only WPA-Personal. WPA2 requires a Mac computer with an AirPort Extreme Card and Mac OS X v10.3 or later"
So I went to my router settings and set up my g-speed band for "WPA-Personal." But when I do that, my g-speed band ceases to work. I cannot connect my iPhone 4 to it and my iPhone has no trouble connecting when the security is set for "WPA2-Personal".
The Aiport Utility (v 5.5.1) will not detect the AE wirelessly. When I connect the AE via ethernet to the router, I can configure it with Aiport Utility and it will stream iTunes music over the wireline network but then when I disconnect it, I can't detect it wirelessly. I've tried using the setup wizard and the manual setup. I've also reset the AE to it's factory settings and started again with no luck.
I've spent hours trying different settings and I am not sure how to proceed. Please provide any feedback you may have.

Most likely you entered the password a year ago when you first set up the AirPort Express (AX) and you checked the option to store the password in your keychain. If you do that, the Mac will never ask you for the password again.
Open Keychain Access and see if you have an item with the name of your wireless network.

  • Can't get itouch to work on e3000 router

Just got an e3000 router ,  i can get my laptop to find the wireless network but  i can't get the itouch. any suggestions?

If your laptop is able to connect to the wireless network then wireless on your router is working fine.
Try changing the wireless channel on the router and check if you can see the wireless network on itouch.

  • Optimal configuration for Cisco E3000 Router

    Hi All,
Following are the details of my current home network setup, I would like to hear more recommendations and drawbacks of this setup.
ISP has provided with a Cisco  DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway which has 4 Ethernet ports and a wireless networking but only 2.4 GHz.. This router is connected to the cable CPE box to internet. I have enabled the Firewall features of this router and disabled the Wireless network. This has also the DHCP server running.
The Second router is a Cisco E3000 which supports 2.4 GHz / GHz wireless networking. Connection to gateway is made via the 1st Ethernet port of gateway and then to the Internet port of E3000 router. I have connected my wireless devices to E3000 with GHz wifi lan. This router also has the firewall activated and DHCP server running as well.
Both routers have WEP2 Personal / AES security configured. Currently these two devices are on two different IP ranges ..etc gateway is 192.168.0.1 and e3000 is 192.168.1.1.
The E3000 is primarily configured for my online video for TV (Panasonic Vireacast). Please let me know if this is the best configuration or any other possible options.
    Thanks,
    RG

This configuration is called LAN to WAN configuration and this is the best configuration considering that you want to behave both the router as a router.
Because the other confiuration would be LAN to LAN then you can only use 1 router as a router and 2nd router as a switch.

  • Low bandwidth with E3000 router

    Hello.
I just purchased an E3000 router to replace my old d-link. We have Telia ADSL (8 Mbit) and I've had little or no problems using a router before. When my computer connects directly to the modem I get 7 Mbit out of the connection but with the E3000 I'm down to 5 kbit. Most sites won't even load. I've tried hard resets (30/30/30) on both router and modem but with no improvements. I have no problems getting an IP address from Telia with the router although I do get assigned a different IP than when connected directly to the modem.
The WAN light on the router constantly blinks/flashes rapidly even when the computer attached to the router is offline which makes me wonder what kind of activity there is. As said, I have no problems connecting directly to the modem and I've tried different cables as well but with no luck.
Anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong?

Did some tests with and without router:
Pingtest.net without router: 0% packet loss, 15 ms ping, 0 ms jitter.
Pingtest.net with router: 0% packet loss, 15 ms ping, 1 ms jitter.
    Speedtest.net without router: ping 9 ms, download speed 6.98 Mbit/s, upload speed 0.82 Mbit/s
    Speedtest.net with router: ping 9 ms, download speed 0.15 Mbit/s, upload speed 0.79 Mbit/s (test 1)
    Speedtest.net with router: ping 9 ms, download speed 0.03 Mbit/s, upload speed 0.82 Mbit/s (test 2)

  • Smart Wi Fi and E3000

I just received an email about updating software for the new Smart Wi Fi but I do not see the E3000 router listing in the compatible routers.  Does anyone know if the software will work with my router?
    Thanks

Weird. Checking linksys' website, the smart wifi routers are only EA6500, EA4500, EA3500, EA2700 and E4200 v2. Perhaps you received the email notification to inform you that if you are using one of the smart wifi routers, there's an upgrade/update available.

  • Issue with Linksys E3000 router wireless speeds

Hello! I recently upgraded my Comcast package to Blast and now I'm getting around 60 Mbps when connected directly to the modem via wire. However, when I connect via wireless, I'm not getting anything higher than 35+ Mbps. I have a Linksys E3000 router. The current settings that I have is 2.4 GHz, mixed network mode, channel width "auto", channel 11. I'm currently getting the highest possible speed on channel 11 since it's the least congested channel. I tried switching mode to N only to see whether it would improve the speed; however, it doesn't make any difference. Also, I tried speeds in 5Ghz settings as well, but I'm still getting the same speeds. The computer is approximately 10 feet away from the router. I've also tried testing speeds with the computer right next to the router, but still I'm getting same speeds. On the other hand, when I connect to the router via wire, then I'm getting the same fast speeds 60Mbps as I was getting when connected directly to the modem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

You must use WPA2-AES encryption.  Set to 20 Mhz only.  Try channel 1 or 6 also.  Disable WMM (media priority) and try again.

  • Turned off power strip to DVR Box and Wireless Router...now I don't have internet connection..

I went away this past weekend and turned off the power strip that my DVR box and wireless router are plugged into.  When I got home early this morning I powered them back on and  I did not have an internet connection anywhere in my home.  I restarted the router twice and still no connection.   My computer says that connection to my wireless is "very good" but I get  notice that computer "cannot display webpage" or "invalid web address".   I left for work and have not tried anything else to remedy this issue.  Ideas anyone?

Is your TV Service and Phone service if you have it working as it should? What does the router indicate as far as status lights go?

  • Using Remote app on iPhone 5 without a separate internet connection and wifi router.

    Hi,
I need to be able to control iTunes within my MacBook Pro remotely. Using my mobile broadband service and wireless router I've been able to get the Remote app to allow my iPhone 5 to do the job nicely through Home Share.  So I went and bought a separate WiFi router and tried to do the same thing. Of course when it didn't work, I discovered that I need an internet connection and WiFi network to make the Home Sharing work.
So I got to thinking, can I create a WiFi hotspot using the Personal HotSpot functionality of my iPhone, set up Home Sharing on phone and MacBookPro and then use the Remote app. Ideally this would work as it seems all the key components are in place.
The MacBook Pro accepts the iPhone hotspot as a means of Home Sharing, however the iPhone won't use the personal hotspot to Home Share and I can't connect to the iPhone personal hotspot on the iPhone itself.
Does anyone know how to make this work for me? It would be such as neat solution if I can get it to work - not to mention the potential to save me about $200 (I need to set this model up for two people).
    Cheers
    Kathy

I don't hve any NAT-exemptions in Cisco IOS Router. Transform-set I will change soon, but I've tried with tunnel mode and it didn't work.
Maybe NAT-exemptions is the issue. Can you advice me which exemptions should be in Cisco IOS Router?
Because on Cisco ASA I guess I have everything.

    Hello Rattisate,
Sorry to hear you are not able to connect to Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro.  I would be concerned about this too.  You can find information on how to troubleshoot this in the following article:
Troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues in OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628
Follow the steps in the section labeled, "Symptom: My Mac does not connect to the Internet."
Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

  • How to setup apple time capsule with FIOSinternet and VZ router?)

    Hello,
I have Apple time capsule and the VZ Router MI424WR. I current set up:
    1. VZ router - wireless off, the rest is standard
    2. Time capsule: Wireless on in Bridge mode
Result: Internet works but the wireless network is very in-stable. Airtunes is nearly not usable.
I searched in the Internet and there was several comments that is is not a good combination. Therefore it is recommended to convert the VZ router in a modem mode and use only the Time capsule as the router. I tried this several times I do not get it to work. I followed this procedure (http://data.agaric.com/node/2160) but then I need the PPPoE Account number and password. But there do I get this? The Verizon support was not really helpful.
Please, is there a good and complete description to solve that issue?
    Thanks in advance
    Moebius

Go back to your first setup ...
Verizon router with wireless turned off
Apple Time Casule with wireless turned on
    Method 1:
With the Time Capsule in "Bridge Mode", if I remember correctly, you should connect the WAN port to one of the open ports on the Verizon router (I believe bridge mode also turns off the DHCP server on the Time Capsule, if not, find that and turn if off as well).   Change the addressing mode for the Time Capsule to "static" and assign it an address on the LAN which is not in use (choose something you know is out of the way but on the LAN -- I suggest 192.168.1.180 to start -- you can change it once you get everything working).
If it doesn't work this way for you, move the cable from the WAN port on the Time Capsule to Port 1 and try again.
    Method 2:
This results in a router behind a router setup, but unless you have devices connected directly to the Verizon router, it shouldn't be a problem.
With the Time Capsule disconnected from the Verizon router, turn on "Connection Sharing" (not bridge mode) and make sure DHCP is enabled on the Time Capsule.  You need to change the address range being used by the Time Capsule (which I think defaults to 192.168.1.x to another network -- I suggest, 192.168.2.x with a netmask of 255.255.255.0 and give the router an address of 192.168.2.1 on the LAN side.  Now, connection the WAN port to one of the Verizon router LAN ports.  If you had anything connected to the Verizon LAN ports, move those over to the LAN ports on the Time Capsule and reboot them.
    Method 3:
This is the least desirable of the scenarios because it relies on Verizon's crappy radio in their router (the Time Capsule has a much better radio and support 802.11n as well as b and g) whereas Verizon's only support b/g.    Go back to the configuration for Method 1, but also turn OFF wireless on the Time Capsule and turn on wireless on the Verizon router.   Try both bridge scenarios described -- using the WAN port first and if that didn't work, then moving the connection to port 1.
There is no scenario where you can place the Verizon router behind the Time Capsule -- since I believe Verizon is using all MoCA connections for the WAN side of their connection (you'd have to get Verizon to convert you to ethernet WAN and then they would not support you most likely for any STB issues with your FiOS if the Time Capsule was between the ONT and their router ... so don't even bother wasting time there ... more headaches than it would be worth.
If you're still not sure exactly what each configuration screen on the time capsule should say, post some screen snaps (or the configuration settings/choices which you are unsure about and someone will likely know the answer here).
