Win 7 Bootcamp does not boot beyond windows splash screen.

I am Running a Windows 7 bootcamp partition which has been running fine for months, untill today when it now just goes to a non responsive blank screen after the Windows splash screen.  I am able to boot the win7 os into safe mode successfully, and also have the bootcamp partition set up as a VM, which i am able to boot into successfully in normal mode. Very odd.
I am running an 2.6GHz i7 Retina MBP with 8GB ram and a 512 SSD
Any help/ideas would be appreciated
Cheers
O.

also do you mean 3 gigs of ram total when you say 3x1gig if so your board only supports 2 gig of ram when it is pc2700...
Yes, I mean 3 Gigs total.  I read on Soyo\\\\\\\'s website that it\\\\\\\'s MoBo\\\\\\\'s do that and will only support 3 Gigs at 2100, hence me underclocking my RAM at 266 Mhz.  It would have been really useful if MSI\\\\\\\'s documentation would have said the same thing.  3 Gigs at 2700 is the reason my system would NOT even POST.  Where did you see that it only supports 2 Gigs at 2700?[/COLOR]
That's not unusual that you would have to do a fresh install of your OS to get it running properly. As far as RAM these boards are very sensitive to types of RAM so You may have trouble with your sticks. As far as 3 1 Gig sticks, unless you are doing some very heavy graphics it is probably overkill and you will find better performance with two sticks running in dual mode. Try it and see which way it runs better for you!

  • NWBC 3.0 Does not open beyond the splash screen

I have uninstalled/re-installed and rebooted many times.  Deleted all nwbc.ini files plus anything else I could find.
This NWBC version 3.0 used to work on my PC in Nov and early Dec.
Now all I get is the initial splash screen saying that the program is going to run (and it shows up in my task list for a moment or two) and then nothing.  There's no task running, nothing.
I've tried NWBC 3.5 - same problem.  I've tried from Run Advertised programs.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling at least 6 times.  Nothing.
Anyone see this ever and can help?
I really need quick response on this!

Uninstall NWBC , go to REGEDIT --> Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Expand SOFTWARE node --> Locate SAP -- Delete the Folder NWBC.
    And
    2). Expand HKEY_LOCAL_USER --> SOFTWARE  -> SAP --> NWBC - Delete.
Restart the system and try to install NWBC again and check.

  • IMac does not boot beyond apple logo - help

My circa 2006 Intel-processor iMac does not get beyond the white screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel when I power it on. As per other support documents (Article: HT1533; discussion "Mac doesn't boot") I have tried and SMC reset, all of the keyboard controlled reboot options (with no response - and now a disc is stuck in the optical drive), reset the RAM, etc. Apart from taking it to my trusty local Apple store, does anyone have any ideas?
Cheers and thanks in advance. Chris

Please carefully read Apple's Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup advice letter for how to troubleshoot this issue.
    Good luck!

  • Mac does not boot past white loading screen and disk cannot be repaired?

So when I turn on my Macbook Pro and it does not boot past a white screen with the Apple logo, loading wheel and progress bar. When the progress bar completes, the Macbook shuts down and when I open it again the cycle is repeated. I have opened it in Safe mode and it still showed the same thing. So I opened it in Recovery Mode and had Disk Utility verify and repair Macintosh HD. As it turns out, Disk Utility said Macintosh HD is beyond repair and I need to back up my files and reformat the whole Mac. Unfortunately, I have never used Time Machine since I started using the Mac and I obviously cannot use it now since startup does not even get past the white screen.
How do I reformat the Mac when it does not even go beyond the white screen during startup? My Mac did not come with any recovery or installation disks. Are my unbacked up files gone for good?
    Thanks.

Since you are able to get into Recovery Mode (Command+R), you can erase/format your Mac via Disk Utility.
Your files/data might be OK. One way to get your data off since you have no back up would be to have another Mac and connect the two via a Thunderbolt cable or even an ethernet cable (I think), then restart your 'bad' Mac into Target Mode by restarting and pressing the T key. Then go onto the 'good' Mac and see if you can copy the data files you want over to it.

  • Toshiba Satellite P870 upgraded to Win 8.1 does not boot

I have a Toshiba Satellite P870 with Win 8 preinstalled. Soon after upgrade to Win 8.1 and basically successful removal of “watermark error” (secure boot activated) the machine stopped booting completely: after pressing the power button ventilator sound
is heard with periodically changing loudness as well as clicking sound from the speakers. The screen stays black. Attempts to start the PC through pressing F2 or zero buttons did not produce any result. Neither did I succeed with recovery discs I created before:
the system simply does not boot from the disk. It looks like I tried all options offered by Microsoft and Toshiba. I would be happy to roll back to factory settings.
Could someone give me hint what to do next?

    Hi,
For the issue, let us know how to remove the “watermark error".
Meanwhile, I would like to confirm if you could access the BIOS.
I suggest you update the BIOS version to test it.
If you want to repair the startup issue, you should use windows 8.1 recovery discs or installation discs.
Meanwhile, if you cannot access the BIOS, it may be caused by hardware, I suggest you contact the Toshiba manufacturer for further help.

  • X102e - Hard drive does not boot into Windows

Hi, I was trying to reinstall Windows on my X120e.
I tried clean install with Windows 7 Professional, but the hard drive does not boot into the Windows once it has done the first phase of the install(you know, the copying part)
After the restart done by Windows, it goes as far as "Starting Windows" but does not actually boot into the Windows.
When I try to install Windows with another HDD, the device works well, but I can't swap the HDD because it is not 7.5mm think HDD.
Is there any possibility the HDD will work trough any software-level process? The HDD works fine as external HDD when tested with external HDD adapter, and installs well. only problem is that it fails to boot

    Thank you for reply.
This is not exactly the issue. I was talking about the HDD originally installed in the PC.
The PC successfully recognizes the external disk I used to install the Windows, but the problem was that I did not boot into the "First boot" screen, which basically works on the already installed data.
As of now I have installed an SSD and is working fine. strange part is that HDD works just fine when I use it as an external HDD via adapter. Strange huh?

After completing the partitionning of the hard disk, the iMac reboots but nothing happens. The system does not boot from the Windows 7 disk.

I have tried to manually boot from the disk by pressing the <Alt> kei will restarting the iMac. The system display the option of booting from the iMac hard disk or the Windows 7 disk. Seelcting the Windows 7 option does noting.

Are using a 64 bit version or a 32 bit version of Windows?
I'm not up on the iMacs but according to this article you may not be able to use 64bit Windows.

  • MacBook Pro does not boot from Windows/Linux CD

    Hello,
I tried to install bootcamp, but experienced the following problem: I was able to use the bootcamp wizard to create the partition I need. Then the wizard ask to put in the Windows CD and forced the restart. While booting I only see a grey screen, nothing happened after a long time.
I tried different Windows CDs from XP SP2/3 to Windows Vista and Windows 7, also for a test a linux and dos boot CD. Always the same issue, only a grey screen. Booting from Leopard DVD works fine.
I already reset NVRAM, PRAM, SMC.
I can use and install all such CDs in Parallels in OSX. As Parallels supports booting Bootcamp partition in OSX, I installed there Windows 7, but with the limitation that OSX protects changing the MBR, this change could not be done, but Parallels was able to store such information itself. So I can use Bootcamp in Parallels.
Then I tried to set boot partition to BOOTCAMP in preferences, but then I get the error "no boot partition is found, please insert CD" when MacBook tries to boot. Of course, the MBR could not be written to the partition from Parallels.
I checked if all software, EFI, Superdrive firmware is up to date - and it is.
I am using MacBook Pro3.1, 3 years old with 4 GB of memory and SSD disk from OCZ.
Can somebody help with this issue?
    MrBass

This isn't a direct answer to your issue but have you considered installing Wine so you can run the occasional windows app directly in OSX? It's a much more elegant solution IMHO. This avoids restarting all the time with Bootcamp and avoids crashing all the time (and the security risks) with Windows running.

  • HP g6-1202sa Notebook pc does not boot into Windows

I have a HP pavilion G6 that hangs when it gets past the Windows logo and ends up with a black screen and a live arrow cursor but nothing else happens. I have gone round and round looking at various ways of dealing with it but without success.   These include various rescue/boot discs, then going into command prompt to carry out various system commands.  These are best described in the article and related threads at the links below:- Re: HP G72-b66US Notebook PC Dosn't Boot into Windowshttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Lockups-Freezes-Hangs/HP-G72-b66US-Notebook-PC-Dosn-t-Boot-into-Windows/m-p/1336579#M22150 AndHow to Recover from an Infinitely Looping Startup Repair Loop without Reinstalling Windowshttp://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/139576-startup-repair-infinite-loop-recovery.html Operations used include:-- use of Regback on DEFAULT, SAM, SECURITY, SOFTWARE and SYSTEM files- Bootrec.exebcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backupc:cd bootattrib bcd -s -h -rren c:\boot\bcd bcd.oldbootrec /RebuildBcdd

  • N100 3000; Does not boot up; Lenovo blue screen

I bought my N100 few years back (Running Vista home edition).  Battery has been dead for a while.  It has been working fine by directly using the power source.
Couple of weeks ago, it restarted itself.  But, it never got beyond initial "Lenovo" blue screen.  Hard Disk light comes on momentarily, then nothing....  I can not even go to "Lenovo care".  Nothing happens when I press "Lenovo care" button.  The only button it recognizes is on/off button.
The only think I did a few days before this issue was using compress option to gain some space on my hard disk.  But, did not see any issues after compress was done.
At this point, I will be happy to be able to recover my files from my N100 (I did not foolishly backup my files).
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

F1 key did not work.  My laptop does not respond to anything at Lenovo screen (it has white back drop not blue as mentioned earlier).
However, when I removed Hard Drive, it proceeded beyond Lenovo screen and displayed a message that OS is not present (Which makes sense).  Does anyone know how I can get a boot CD?  This way, I may be able to attempt running recovery utility on my Hard Disk.
    Thanks,

  • IMac does not boot, stuck on gray screen

    Hi all,
    Need some troubleshooting assistance.
Attempted to install a CAC card reader, with the ActiveGold software on my iMac.
Reboot when prompted, and now the iMac will not boot at all (even will not boot in safe mode).
Have removed all external devices, and no dice.
I used Disk Utility from the OS X CD to confirm the volume is ok.
Was able to access the drive from the bootcamp Vista using MacDrive and have copied the content I needed to grab - the volume appears to be otherwise ok.
Before I Archive and Install, wanted to get some suggestions.
    Thanks

Ok, maybe with iMacs that come pre-installed w/Leopard it's on Disk 1. Did you check?
My MBP model, the HT is on Disk 2.
    Anywho, try the following:
Except for the keyboard & mouse, disconnect all devices from your computer.
Repairing permissions from the Tiger/Leopard DVD
Boot up from your Tiger Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
If Disk First aid is able to complete the repair now click on the "Repair permissions" button.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer.
    See Knowlege Base Article:
