Win 7 File issues and Netware.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this issue. I dont even know where the problem is coming from. Our main server is netware 6.5 and zcm10. With windows 7 clients and a few XP clients. When students save their work (for example Word) and then try to save it again they will get an error saying either the file is open or they dont have the proper rights. Sometimes they will save their file and then try to load it but the file will not be there. And no error occured during the save process. But the file will appear in words recently saved documents. The few XP machines we have are working properly. Could this be a file comit and cashing issue? or something unique to windows 7. I had simular problems with XP but when SP1 came out everything was fixed.

However I'll ask whether the Windows 7 and XP machines are running the
respective versions of the Novell Client? If so, which versions are
installed?
Latest version for Windows 7 is 2 SP1 (IR5) and for XP it's 4.91 SP5.

I know that a jar file is like a zip file but I'm asking, "Can you download just the jar.exe without downloading the JDK?"
I keep reading everywhere that you can only get the jar.exe tool if you download the JDK but I can't use JDK(because it is a compiler) on our website here at work.

The jar tool isn't part of the jre but the jdk. You should find it on your server in %ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\bin (seems you use some kind of Windows).

Win 7 Pro x64 - MS Office 2010 - .exe and .dll issues (And other)

Issue:
Cannot launch MS Office in anyway - Comes up with "c:\program files\commonfiles\microsoft shared\office14\MSO.DLL is either not configured or designed to run on windows ......" then the same box again immediately after "c:\progra~1\common~1\micros~1\office14\mso.dll"
is either not designed to run on windows or contains and error....."
Cannot run Google, cannot run IE, cannot start Help and Support cannot run the install disk as it comes up with "ieframe.dll" issues.
error box has been coming up "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application"
Am searching for answers here have tried EVERYTHING!
Earlier restore points, scannow, registering the .dll
I dont have the MS Office disk as I bought the laptop with both WIn 7 Pro and Office 2010 installed. ALthough I have now borrowed a friends Operating System disk.
Im after a way to restore the files without a full install shagg around to find the drivers etc ...
any ideas appreciated?

Web Premium CS4 and Offline Files Issue

My system: Multiple notebooks, laptops running Windows 7 Ultimate, all on a Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 network.
I have My Documents, My Pictures, and My videos folders rehomed to the server via group policy, and when I unplug from the network these folders are available to the disconnected laptop/pc via offline files (and the offline file cache).
My issue: When I install Web Premium CS4 on any machine, if my laptop/pc is disconnected from the network, the offline folders disappear, although the offline file management snap-in tab shows the cache is stored, and when I plug back in to the network, the folders will soon appear. When the folders are visible, the offline status shows "Always available offline".
When I uninstall CS4, the trouble does not get fixed, but a barebones install from a disk image prior to CS4 installation fixes the problem, making me think adobe somehow changes network/registry settings to accomodate their own cache, or maybe something to do with the Adobe Bridge (just guessing). This happens on both 64 bit and 32 bit versions of Win 7.
I have duplicated this issue on 3 different laptops, all with the same result. I opened a case with Adobe, but my case was immediately closed saying it was a Microsoft/network issue. In fact, I would guess the person who worked the case dismissed this out of hand, the case got closed so quickly.
Is there someone out there that has run into this issue?

Was this issue ever resolved? We are in the process of deploying design premium to around 1000 faculty members, and are experiencing the same issue. I wont know till the end of the day whether i can say 100% that its a CS 4 issue but im running a test on 3 laptops with slightly different configs.
All laptops are win7 enterprise, with folder redirection enabled, same symptoms are occuring.
As a test, i have been testing the offline files at different stages in the laptop bundle deployment to see where it starts to fail. I sync mydocs, undock laptop and then login to check offline files. I then wipe the CSC clean and move on to next step in deployment, and repeat check.
We are at the last step in deployment, adobe design premium CS4, and there have been no failures with offline files so far. After it finishes deploying ill report on my findings.
We have a ticket open with microsoft and our sysadmin has been working with them for a few days to resolve the issue, and so far they have been baffled, escalating the ticket to a debug team. We have not yet mentioned that we suspect CS4 to be the issue, as they would probabily pass the buck and blame adobe, (similar to the OP saying adobe is blaming microsoft); we want them to fully investigate first.

You computer is probably perfectly repairable, but if you want a new one anyway, it is perfectly possible to transfer the data from the faulty one.
But it would be a mistake to simply put the old HD in the new computer.
These are the steps:
Remove Hard drive from faulty computer. (very easy on Unibody MBPs, do-able but not so easy on older MBPs)
Put it in a cheap enclosure
Connect it the new computer
Boot up new computer.
If the new computer has never been run before the Setup Assistant will ask if you want to import your apps, data, settings etc from either another mac, another HD connected to the Mac or a Time Machine back up.
Obviously chose the second option (another HD connected to this Mac) and follow prompts.
If the new computer has already been run (so Setup Assistant doesn't run when you boot it up), you will need to use Migration Assistant...or run the installer again so that Setup Assistant runs again.

Have you confirmed that you successfull purged iTunes Match by also looking on an iOS device? If so, keep in mind that Apple's servers may be experiencing a heavy load right now. They just added about 19 countries to the service and I've read a few accounts this morning that suggests all's not running perfectly right now.

UTF encoding issues on file adapters and mappings

We did some tests regarding to UTF-8 and UTF-16 encoding using file adapters. Our conclusion so far is (when using Windows OS):
1. Inbound adapter can handle UTF-8 and UTF-16 correctly, but do not specify the encoding!
2. XI mappings will set the XML encoding to UTF-8 correctly when sending an UTF-16 file to XI.
3. Outbound adapter can only handle UTF-8 (and US-ACSII and ISO-8859-1) correctly.
The exact test results are:

If no encoding is specified in the outbound file adapter, UTF-8 and UTF-16 are handled correctly. However if the encoding is set to UTF-16, XI mapping will fail with the error:
During the application mapping com/sap/xi/tf/_CHRIS_OUTBOUND_TO_INBOUND_ a com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.BaseRuntimeException was thrown: Fatal Error: com.sap.engine.lib.xml.parser.Parser~

If the encoding of an inbound file adapter is set to UTF-16 everything works ok (except the XML encoding is not set correctly, but this may be a mapping issue and not an adapter issue). However the default UTF-16 encoding seems to be UTF-16BE, where I would expect UTF-16LE since this is the most commonly used encoding.
If the encoding UTF-16LE or UTF-16BE the characterset used in the message is correct, except the BOM of the file. The BOM is empty which means UTF-8 encoded file. Since the file is UTF-16BE or UTF-16LE encoded, this is wrong and the correct BOM should be added by the adapter.
Encodings like US-ASCII and ISO-8859-1 are handled correctly.
>>Mapping bug
When we send in a message encoded in UTF-8 and want to send it out as a UTF-16 encoded message, we need to set the XML encoding to UTF-16. Normally this is done by an XSLT mapping using the <xsl:output encoding=UTF-16/> command.
The UTF-8 message will get processed by the XSLT and any special character will be converted to its UTF-16 value. However the output message is not UTF-16 encoded (1 byte in-stead off 2 bytes).
When this 1 byte message is send to the inbound adapter (encoding is set to UTF-16) the message will be translated from 1 byte to 2 byte (UTF-8 to UTF-16). The characters that were converted from UTF-8 to UTF-16 will be read as single byte characters and will be converted again. This will result in an incorrect message with illegal characters.
So basically characters will be converted to UTF-16 2 times, which is incorrect.
Maybe someone can confirm this on another XI system (maybe different OS). If you need test files or mapping, please let me know.

Update after carefully reading all the UTF related documents on the internet.
For UTF-16 the BOM is required and the adapter is handling this correctly. (encoding=UTF-16 will create the BOM).
For UTF-16LE and UTF-16BE the BOM must not be set. The application should be able to handle the conversion. The adapter is working correct again.
If the adapter is set to binary mode in stead of the text mode, the file will always be read correctly.
About the mapping issue, I'm still experimenting with this one.

External List Management - Issue in File Upload and Map

I am facing problem while maintaining external lists through ELM and executing step upload and map file for a tab separated text format file.
The file data is getting shown properly in file preview through mapping format but when I execute it through external list the data is not getting uploaded at all.The log is not showing me any error or reason for the same.
I want to know apart from basic ELM config, is there some other configuartion required to enable ELM to upload and map the file in turn.

I got the resolution to this answer.
The issue was the task under ELM workflow was not marked for background processing and hence it was always in ready state and never proceeded ahead thru ELM transaction.All the steps due to this reason were shown in planned or ready state.
There was no error in ELM as everything in the system had no issues and hence nothing came in error log.

Tags, no longer displaying file names and other issues

I upgraded to Mavericks, MacBook Air.
I need help sorting out what is going on with Tags.
I have a screen shot, but uploading it to this post is another problem I have run into with Mavericks. I click on the camera icon, click on upload file, and then I get a list of greyed out files, and am unable to select any of them. Very unmac like.
Back to the tag issue. The tags are listed in the open finder window. Most of the tags I have created, when selected, will display all the files with that tag, and show the file name or icon.
BUT, one of my tags, which has over a thousand files, will not display the file names. What is shown are a list of blank icons, and no file names. The preview for each file still shows as it should when a file is selected, and the file name is listed in the preview.
A picture is worth a thousand words, so I really wish I could have uploaded the screen shot!
In addition, some of the files, e.g. a .pdf file, will show no icon, no file name, no file size, but will open when double clicked and dispaly the file name and a greyed out addition to the file name "-Locked". Much weirdness.
Tags have not been working well for me. I have used colours extensively in the past for organization and now it seems to be a huge problem converting to tags. What a painful transition from Mountain Lion!

With the backup completed, I followed your suggestion:
"Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences folder and trash these files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again."
The smart folders disappeared. The original Tags named by colour are back on the list of Tags, and the problems remain unchanged.
In the Tags I created for my file collection, call it the LotsOfFiles folder, there are no file names listed, none.
However, when I changed the permissions on every file in the LotsOfFiles folder to Staff-Read & Write, then I was able to change, add, and delete Tags from the files. Also, once the permissions were changed the file names appeared, after five minutes... so I edited this entry when I discovered the change.
The files in LotsOfFiles have been collected since 1995, and have been saved to many computers and many backup systems. They also have been used, saved, changed etc. in operating systems dating back to OS7, and almost every operating system up to 10.9. They also are being used on different computers right now, one running OS 10.3.9. one running 10.7, and one running 10.9. The computers all have different admin logins and info.
But I still can't upload files to this forum!

CC application file sync issue and CC App broken menu..

1. File sync from Photoshop CC has stopped working.
Photoshop reports the last sync time and date in edit>sync settings.
However in my Application settings I get the following..
Application settings are synced between many of your favorite desktop applications and Creative Cloud, allowing you to work consistently from any machine. To begin syncing, you will need to open your desktop application and click "Sync Settings Now".
You currently do not have any synced settings.
2. I have missing menu items in the CC app cog menu (I assume as reported on other threads) including "stop syncing", preferences/settings and other blank or greyed out items.
Prior to that I had the also reported dead CC app issue and uninstalled and reinstalled the app, which fixed dead app but left the munu broken.

Since the CC app messed up again and yet another reinstall, it is working (sort of, after several sync failures of lrcat) properly, including the menu, all be it very slowly considering the fast upload I have.
As is the setting sync finally.

Issues with File Polling and File Copy in a Cluster

Hi,
I have a 2 node cluster of SOA 11.1.1.5. Running into an issue.
I have a File Poll Process which picks up new files and then copy them over to another directory [using COPY operation of file adapter]. After that using FTP Adapter to ftp the file [using MOVE operation of FTP]. Now if I place a file Poll is creating 2 instances. I have configured HAFile Adapter and HAFTPAdapter. Now if I remove the file COPY operation I see only one instance as soon as I put back file copy it creates multiple instances again. Any idea what might be wrong.

But in a cluster if I use file copy I see multiple instances of Polling instances.

File Name and Target Directory name issue in FTP CC

I am using following code to assing file name and directory name in UDF. I don;t want these parameters to be part of my target structure. Since i have created these files names in UDF, what are the values do i need to mention in FTP CC's "File access Parameter" which are mandatory fiels in CC ?

in ID in receiver file comm channel, just tick the option of Adapter Specific messge attributes and in it tick FileName and DirectoryName.............
the filename and directory you give in comm channel will be treated as dummy and the values will be taken from your UDF.......
