Win 7 HDMI Sound Gets Only 2-Channel Stereo

My system specs (and advertising) state that it is HDCP compliant and has 8 channel sound, but Windows 7 (32-bit) reports that
the HDMI sound is not HDCP compliant, is limited to a maximum of 2 channels and there are no supported sound Codecs (Control panel > sound > HDMI properties).
I ran the Cyberlink BD & 3D Advisor, and my system, including the HDMI cable, passed the HDCP test.
HDMI sound works with the left and right speakers but not with the center or rear speakers.
The HDMI sound driver is by Microsoft, even after installing the nVidia HDMI audio driver.
The driver for the other sound devices is by RealTek.
The RealTek driver reports that it supports Dolby Digital and DTS while the Windows HDMI driver supports no formats.
Windows, chipset drivers, sound driver and video driver are all up-to-date.
System:

Sound chip on motherboard:
Realtek ALC1200 with 8-channel High-Definition Audio Codec

I have a Pavilion dv7 laptop.
I am able to connect my laptop via HDMI to my Samsung 55 LED. Video transfer is in HD. Sound is also transmitted but only in 2 channel format rather than 5.1 channel format. In the sound settings via control panel I have tried to reconfigure but there is only a 2ch and no 5.1ch setting. The same is the case in the 'Speakers and Headphones' (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC) setting
The 5.1ch output setting should be present as Windows 7 professional is compatible with this as should be my laptop, and my TV has an inbuilt Dolby Digital processor which conveys 5.1Ch sound to my home cinema unit.
My home cinema system DOES support and decode Dolby & DTS 5.1. This is connected to my TV via optical cable.
TV transmissions from Freesat that are in Dolby Digital 5.1 do output correctly in 5.1 via my home cinema system, this is why I know for a fact that my TV DOES output in Dolby Digital 5.1. There is a light on my Home cinema system which confirm the inputted sound is 2ch or 5.1ch.
There is no error with my TV or Home cinema System - there is a problem with my Pavilion laptop failing to output 5.1.

DV7 is a series of dozens if not hundreds of models, what is yours ? Please bear in mind normally HDMI sound on computers go from video cards, not "sound" cards.

I would like to get only specific channels from several .csv files and concatenate into one group.

I am working with other groups and getting the data in daily .csv files. When I use the "concatenate groups" script along with a script on importing files, I end up getting a huge file that takes about an hour to concatenate. In order to reduce the amount of time and memory that this takes, I was hoping that someone could help me modify the script so that I could just list the channel name that I am interested in and concatinating only those channels rather than all of them.
For example, if voltage, temperature, pressure and time data are taken daily for 30 days, I would like to import only the temperature and time data (from .csv format) and concatenate into one group.
I have attached the .vbs files that I use.

Actually, the feature you're asking for is already in the code of mine that you sent back. Look on line 11 of the main VBScript: ChannelSet = "" ' "" or "1-" (DataPlugin) or "Sheet1" (EXCEL Wizard)
If this "ChannelSet" parameter is set to something other than "" or "1-" then it is used in line 78:
Call DataFileLoadSel(FilePaths(i), DataPlugin, ChannelSet)
Yo can specify the channel indices to load with an expression like this:
ChannelSet = "[1]/[1],[3]"

Ipod classic sound from only one channel

My 80GB Ipod classic has sound from only one headphone. Same problem when docked so it's not a headphone or socket problem. It's as if only one channel is working. Any ideas?

Can't get my 4.1 speakers to work, only 2 channel stereo

I formated and restored my laptop because I thought I was having Vista issues but it turned out to be bad memory, so I replaced both sticks. Now I can't find any way for vista to enable my 4.1 speakers and I'm only getting sound from 2...and no subwoofer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several versions of the audio drivers but still no luck. I don't know if it's a vista issue or a driver issue or a hardware issue...I can't figure it out. Is there anyway to check if the 4.1 speakers are hooked up internally somewhere? Or does anyone have any other ideas what it might be?
Forgot to mention I have an X205.

Help: Only 2-channel stereo audio!

I only get Stero audio off my Apple TV. I have it connected via HDMI to my Pioneer Elite receiver which is HDMI to my Plasma TV set. I have updated it to the latest software but cannot get the receiver to switch to Dolby for movies or anything.
My DirecTV receiver connected via HDMI plays DD 5.1 fine. Same with my Xbox 360.
I can't seem to get Apple TV to do anything but stereo. Thoughts?

I have my Apple TV connected to a Pioneer Elite receiver also and then receiver to Sony Bravia TV. I have the Audio and Video setting on the Apple TV set to Dolby Digital >On. You might try that.

Sound in only one channel

No matter what speakers or headphones I try to use I only get sound out of the left speaker. Any thoughts?

A very common complaint and it is always the right headphone that goes out. You have a bad headphone jack that needs to be replaced. Plenty of online places can do it or you can order the parts and do it yourself.

Why only one channel of sound in sequences? Please someone try this quest

When I add a sequence to a sequence, I have only one channel of sound but, when I open that sequence I have 2 channels of sound.
Is it a sequence setting and if it is I see:
outputs 2
downmix 0
grouping: Stereo selected
Dual mono not selected.
I swith these around a bit but get no change.
My raw footage say "2 Mono" from my Sony DSR PD-150 at 16 bit, 48 khz.
I usuall use one channel for camera sound and 2nd channel for mic.

the number of audio channels that your nested sequence will contain is the same as the number of audio outputs you have selected for that sequence ...
for example, if you create a sequence with 10 tracks of audio, but have only set the sequence to have 2 audio outputs, then when you nest that sequence the nest will have only 2 tracks of audio ... change the audio outputs to 4, or 6, or 8, or 10 etc regardless of how many tracks you actually use, and the sequence, when nested, will have the same number of audio tracks as the sequence has audio outputs
... ok, so that explains the relationship between audio outputs and the number of tracks of audio that a nested sequence contains
so why are you getting only one channel of sound when you edit it in to another sequence? my guess is that you are only patching 1 channel ... load the source sequence into the viewer (drag and drop), now check in the patch bay area at the left of the timeline window to make sure that your a1 to A1 and a2 to A2 connections are not broken ... and edit it in.

I'm recording from my analog cassette deck to my mac os x 10.9.5, but get only one channel on audacity and garage band.
deck out - headphone jack -rca to rca mini jack mac sound input
I did read several posts, but to no avail.
I did play with AUDIO MIDI setup
I did play with SOUND ( SYSTEM PREFERENCES )

Please Help - Audio Exporting-Only one channel

When I export the audio from Final Cut, I get only one channel of audio ( right side). This happens with all the AC3 and PCM audio settings.
All of the settings are correct in Final Cut. I have dual output audio on the meters and playback. I've also done a complete troubleshooting check on my playback system to make sure that everything is working properly. It is. I tunes plays everything back in stereo as does final Cut.
Any suggestions? I'm really behing the 8ball at this point.

My external audio recording device only records to the right channel. How do I duplicate the sound in the right channel and run it to the left one in Final Cut to get full stereo sound?
I've already copied and pasted the right channel (A2) onto the left channel (A1) but that just doubled the volume on the right channel.
For instance, when I listen to my audio with headphones it only comes thru the right one. How do I make it so that it comes thru both headphones?

Stereo is something else. It is a sound field where the individual elements are located through varying the amount of electrical energy for each element delivered to each channel.
What you have is a mono source that should be panned to center. This will equally divide the signal so it will be delivered out both the L & R channels.
Load the original clip to the VIEWER and set the PAN to 0 (zero). Delete any duplicates. They are unnecessary.

1st generation no stereo only 1 channel no case

ipod touch 1st generation no stereo unless the jack is wiggled only 1 channel gets audio i do not use a case

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R" or "L".
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

Can't get sound from my midi channels

Hello. I've been using Logic 8 for a while. 2 days ago I updated to the newest version 8.0.1 and after I did it, I can't get sound from my midi channels. Before the update I could use my Ivory pianos perfectly, but after the update I can't. I've tried every setup I can imagine. I've been here sitting for hours trying to fix it but I can't .
Logic recognizes my keyboard, since I play...all the notes appear on the transport bar, but i can't get sound from any sampler (Ivory, EXS, EVP88, etc).
I've checked my outputs, etc...but nothing.
Please help me!!! I'm desperate!

Do you hear the Audio tracks and only Software Instruments are not working od don't you get any output at all? I was just assuming that through the update your Apogee has been removed as your Audio device in Preferences->Audio->devices.
