Win 7 in Boot Camp: Drivers will not install from snow leopard cd.

I have a early 2011 Macbook Pro (8,1). I am loading Windows 7 with Boot Camp, but cannot get any of the drivers to install. (ethernet, video, etc)
I have tried both the Snow Leopard cd (I think it's Boot Camp 3.2?), and also downloading drivers online, neither work. I have tried reformatting/reinstalling, and even tried loading a old copy of XP and I had the exact same problem there too.
What happens: I install the drivers successfully, restart, and nothing has changed. I can see the drivers installed in the programs list (when I go to "uninstall programs") but if I go to Device Manager all of the devices (ethernet, video, etc) show a yellow triangle and say they need drivers! It's like I'm installing the wrong drivers or something.
I can't find any other posts with a problem like this, I have been working on this forever and am kind of at my wits end. Any ideas??

Don't believe what Apple posts.
If you don't have EFI64 like 2008 and later Mac Pro, then you will run into a hurdle and have to modify the Windows DVD to get it to boot and install.
To Apple, and due to the non-standard way they implemented UEFI, and that ours (2006/7 Mac Pro) all there was that we got was the 2005 EFI32 (affects our choices in graphics cards too).
I installed 32-bit, then installed 64-bit on another partition.
The DVD can be modified, from Windows, most easy method would be from any of the VMs like VirtualBox. Then use one of the 2-3 Imgburn or other tricks mentioned online (search for "Jowie" and search for the "Select CD-ROM" error you get trying to boot).

  • Drivers will not install from original disk

Ok, so i have a early 2008 MBP, which i just installed Boot Camp on. After a tedious install of windows, I got it to work, now to have the drivers get messed up. What happens is it will start installing the Drivers and then usually (it stops at different times) will get to the audio drivers before it just spins the disk for about a second then stops, then spins it again, and repeats this process infinitely or until I turn off the computer. The disk will not eject, and boot camp install will not end. Can you help me get past this, because I really would love to finish the install! As i said the farthest it has ever gotten is the Audio drivers which is where it usually stops but sometimes it will stop earlier than that, but Audio is the most problematic because it has never been able to go past that.

    Manish, thanks for your help.
Tried similar in Windows 7 with no effect. Also tried Adobe Creative Suite cleaner tool via http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html It installs ok on my laptop, so doesn't appear to be a location issue, but will not install on my workstation. Manual installation of AAM completes but after typing in user/pass it says 'download error, contact customer service'. Photoshop CS6 beta installed and functioned ok and I had CS4. Tried uninstalling both, same issues. Adobe Lightroom 3.6 is still installed and functions.
I also tried someone's suggestion of installing the trial of something so it would install the Akamai Netsession download manager. This completes and when I launch the AdobeApplicationManager.exe I can see it spawn Netsession which then hangs and can be killed initially, but zombies for a while ( cannot be killed ). Packet trace ( https://twitter.com/#!/DaSpadeR/status/201295684022960128 ) appears to show initial handshake and then nothing.  -John Spade

  • Boot camp drivers won't install from Disk

I have an old MacBook running Snow Leopard (the original OS was Leopard), and I recently installed windows 7 successfully through Boot Camp. When I went to install the boot camp drivers, neither the Leopard or the Snow Leopard disks worked. I got an error message that read something about how "64 bit is not supported by this platform." Is there any way to get the drivers outside of the disks, or am I doing something wrong?

you got it installed, just naviagate to the folder with the BOOTCAMP64.msi and run that, use Admin Privilege, and use "Troubleshoot Compatibility Mode" to run it.
It isn't you, it is Apple's idea of supported vs unsupported for "older" Intel Macs.

  • Juniper networks VPN: Network Connect will not install under Snow Leopard

Created different thread based on the topics from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2130935.
With new install of Snow Leopard i get the following when trying to log into SSL VPN "Could not launch. Please restart the web browser and try again"
can not do the workarounds from the above thread since none of the directories exist. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I ran into this too (made matters worse by cleaning out the old juniper install). What I understand clearly now, which other discussions with all the happiness from people saying they fixed it seem to miss completely: Juniper only works if you installed it prior to upgrading 10.6. If you did not, you are possibly hosed.
Now, I was hosed, but I found a workaround. Find a stand-alone installer .dmg out there. As of a couple days ago it was there. I'm sure it still is. Google it. NetworkConnect.dmg.
It is version 6.0.0. It installs correctly. My company runs 6.4.0, which means the first time you open NetworkConnect after installing it prompts you to upgrade. The upgrade worked fine, so long as I was running as root.
Which brings me to my original problem which I've not seen anyone else complain about, which has me worried: after installing, NC only actually connects and functions when I run as root. I'm not talking about su - root or using sudo, I mean having to graphically switch users and log into the computer as the root user (after enabling it...using the scenableroot I think, something like that).
Has anyone else seen this behavior? I can launch Network Connect as my real user but it immediately fails with a software error. 'ncproxyd.error: Failed to gain root privileges'. Driving me batty.

  • Can I use boot camp or other virtualization software with Snow Leopard Server?

Can I use boot camp or other virtualization software with Snow Leopard Server?

Boot Camp is not virtualization; it boots Windows natively on the Mac hardware. So Boot Camp would be irrelevant to running Snow Leopard Server. Parallels and VMWare Fusion both have at least "experimental" support for running Snow Leopard Server in a virtual machine on Mac OS X, though I don't know how robust it is as of this time. You might ask for opinions on the Parallels or VMWare forums.

  • MacPro 3.1 will not upgrade to Snow Leopard

Hi. I have a MacPro 3.1 with 2 x 3.2 GHz Quad Core Intel Xenon Processors, 6 GB of Ram. The computer is a standard Apple Unit.
I cannot get it to install Snow Leopard. Info elsewhere on this site suggests it should run under Snow Leopard. I have put the system back to Factory state with a clean install of 10.5. It still will not accept the Snow Leopard.
I suspect the problem may be me trying to use installer disks recently supplied with my new MacBook Pro 13", 2.53 GHz. Can anyone confirm this issue. If I buy another copy of Snow Leopard, that is not apparently Machine specific, will it install?

Yes, the disks are your problem. All you need to erase and install Snow on you MP is the $29.00 Snow upgrade disk. You do not need to ever had have Leopard installed.

  • HT1444 mac pro will not successfully load snow leopard

mac pro will not successfully load snow leopard 10.6   ? presently using 10.5

Haha! That's true. Though I've noted many users here calling a Power Mac a Mac Pro and visa versa.
When my Power Mac died and I brought it into the Apple Store to have them look at it, the first Mac Pros hadn't been out that long. Even the staff didn't know the tower Mac they had out on display was a Mac Pro. I pointed out that it had two optical drive bays in front. Only the Mac Pros have two. All Power Macs have only one.

  • Boot Camp drivers won't install correctly.

Greetings. Recently I formatted the XP partition on my Mac, in order to do a clean installation of windows. I did everything as explained in the guide, using the Boot Camp assistant and so forth. After the installation completed, I inserted my Leopard DVD and installed the appropriate drivers. Although the message declared that everything went smoothly, the only thing I could find that was installed correctly were only the audio drivers - no video drivers, no ethernet, wireless, nothing else. I repeated the whole process (including reinstalling XP) with the same results. Any suggestions?

You will need to reinstall Windows and use the boot camp drivers that came with your machine. Do not use previous boot camp drivers or the boot camp drivers on the Leopard disk. I made the same mistake with my MacBook Pro, I installed boot camp drivers first from a CD copy, them from Leopard and had the same issues as yourself. Then I installed boot camp from the MacBook Pro DVD that came with the MBP and most of it installed. However, not all was working properly. I wiped the boot camp p[artition and reinstalled XP and used the boot camp drivers that came with the MBP and everything worked smoothly. I think the boot camp drivers are specific to a machine, at least in the case of this MBP.

  • Boot Camp drivers won't install

Okay, I have tried everything. I followed the directions. Created a FAT 32 32GB partition. Loaded XP and it installed. Loaded the Leopard disc that came with my new MacBook Pro. Looks like they are installing, then there is the blue screen with with lettering and it's gone in a flash before I can read it. The next thing I see is a message indicating that there was a serious error and it list some windows install fill and asks if I want to try again. I do and the same message is there. Windows is installed and works fine but there is no Boot Camp tray item. I also tried to repair the Boot Camp drivers but that doesn't work either! Can someone please help me?

    Hi,
i had exactly the same problem and been browsing galores of forums with no real answer.
it seemed though that a lot of people had issues with the bluetooth driver and i believe that is precisely the problem with this.
Here is what i did and what fixed the issue (my XP is running flawlessly now on my iMac):
    - install XP SP2, do all the updates (you might have to connect with a cable LAN, since the wireless might not work because of the drivers (dont worry, we fix this in a minute)
    - copy the Bootcamp Drivers folder from your Mac OS CD to the C: harddrive (this is neccessary so you can continue with the next step)
    - here comes the magic part: DELETE the file BroadcomInstaller.exe from the Bootcamp Drivers/Drivers directory (the one you just copied to the C: drive)
    - NOW run setup.exe in the Bootcamp Drivers directory
this basically installed everything except the BT drivers to my system
ONLY NOW can you run the bootcamp update (to be found here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/BootCamp_Update_2_1_for_WindowsXP)
Before 2.0 version of bootcamp is installed this update wont run.
the nice thing is, running the update actually fixed also the BT on my iMac, so now everything works as it should.
    hope this helps.
    K.

  • Boot Camp drivers won't install on Windows 7

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro (10.10.2 Yosemite), and just installed Windows 7 (64-bit) via Boot Camp. It works fine but I am unable to install any of the drivers (version 5.1.5621). I put them on a flash drive but when I open Drivers/Apple/BootCamp, it says the program can not be run, check your bit version for compatibility (something like that)... I then try the troubleshoot way but this is what happens-
    Thanks for the help.

Please verify that you have the correct drivers using System requirements to install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support  and install or repair using setup.exe in the BC folder.

  • Windows 7 drivers will not install for Printsmart B209a

Ok, I have tried to solve this for the better part of 2 days on my own.. I have tried every solution I can find by google and forums..
In the device manger it show that my printer drivers are not installed, when i try to install them Windows tells me the drives are not digtally signed and I and not it's not sure they are committable with my printer.. When I tell it to go ahead and intestinal them it tries then tells me it can not due to one of the above..
I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them so many times I have lost count.. I have used a uninstaller to make sure I got every little piece of the driver I can find..
Now when I try to install them, it hangs at about 89% and tells me it is waiting for a SPL response from the printer.. and that never happens.
So can someone please help me with these two problems..
Thanks in advance for your knowledge, time and effort..

Make sure that you run the correct OS bit version download for your computer. Do you have 64 bit or 32 bit win 7? did you install software by cd or online?
if it hangs at 89% , that means your firewall is limiting the installation.
what is the brand of your anti-virus software?

  • Error code 31, Drivers will not install correctly

I am using the following NI PXI cards in a Chroma chassis:
    8360
    5112 or a 5114
    7352 (I think)
I have a Toshiba laptop, Satellite L305D-S5934 running Vista, on which I am trying to install the driver package.  Everything installs fine, with no errors.  When I plug in the expresscard, turn on the chassis, and then boot the computer, the 8360 installs and is recognized in Device Manager and in MAX.  The other two cards will not install.  I get an error code 31 in device manager on the PCI-PCI/PXI bridge stating that Windows cannot load the driver.
I have another Toshiba laptop, Satellite L305D-S5895, which specs out about the same, also running Vista, which runs with no problems at all with the same card, cable, and chassis.  Any previous experience with this issue?  Thanks in advance for any timely help you can offer, and I'll gladly supply you folks with as much info as I can.  Attached is a screen shot of the device manager with the flag and the error message.

    Hey Kyle,
It seems like the ExpressCard isn't working properly, based on what you've told me. You say that the ExpressCard shows up properly in Device Manager after installation, but based on that screenshot it looks like it isn't showing up correctly. Is there an NI-MXI entry in device manager after you install? Take a look at this : Developer Zone : What Laptops Have Been Tested with NI's ExpressCard-MXI for PXI and PXI Express?
In looking at this article, I don't see either of the two laptops you mentioned as ones we've tested or have had customer's test. That being said, there might be an issue with the S5934 and not with the S5895. I looked into it a bit more, and the two laptops have completely different chipsets, so it's reasonable to say that one laptop might work and one might not. There are a couple things you'll want to do to try and fix this:
First, make sure you have the most up-to-date BIOS for the S5934. If you still encounter errors, you might want to sign up for the beta program of the NI MXI Express Bios Compatibility Software, which might be able to solve any BIOS incompatibility problems. You can sign up at www.ni.com/beta for that software.
