Win 7 laptop and Deskjet 6980 Printer don't connect wirelessly

Hi,
I installed the Windows driver for the HP 6980 printer. The printer shows as being "offline" in Windows control panel. The printer network light and wireless status light are on. I ran the HP Home network Diagnostic Utility and it tells me:
1. HP software required to connect to the printer is not installed
and then from the "advanced" tab it tells me further that
2. The HP Service SLP is not installed
3. HP service hpqcxs08 is not installed
4. HP service device discovery is not installed
So, how do I get these things installed?? Where do I get them?
Is this really the problem or is there something else going on?
I have Verizon FIOS and an Actiontec router. Do I need to give the printer a static IP address (as suggested by the HP install manual)??
Any suggestions/advice much appreciated.

Hi,
Is the printer connected to your wireless network?
A solid blue light indicate a proper connection.
If it is blinking it means the printer is disconnected from your network, temporary plug a USB and go to Applications > Hewlett-Packard > Device Utilities. Follow the HP Setup Assistant to reconfigure the wireless connection.
If the printer appear as connected please clarify your router brand and model in order to better understand the problem.

I have a Mac Mini with OSX 10.9 but my HP Deskjet 710c printer don't work. I install the HP driver package from Apple but I don't see my printer in the list. Who can help me out? Thanks.

    Hi,
The printer is not supported on Mac OS X 10.9, you my find any supported printer listed in the following document:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP
As well no Mac supported is offered for the specific model within its driver download pages:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=59307&task=&
I afraid you will not be able to use the specific model with Mavericks, those are not compatible.

  • Can I install Adobe Photoshop in my laptop and access it without any Internet connection?

Can I install Adobe Photoshop in my laptop and access it without any Internet connection?

Perpetual versions you can and it possible to to activate them offline.  Offline Activation
The Creative Cloud versions can be installed offline but you need an Internet connection to activate the installed applications,  I also believe Adobe has recently made the Creative cloud desktop application an mandatory install.  It need not be running at all times however it will be installed.

  • Officejet 7310xi All in One Printer no longer connects wirelessly

    Hello all,
My Officejet 7310xi All in One Printer no longer connects wirelessly.
The printer does no show up while searching for it wirelessly where it had previously.
In the past it would say that the printer (HP Series 7300) was offline.  I would remove the device through the control panel and search again.  A printer would be found as HP Series 7300 (Copy 1) . A "ghost" of the original would remain as an offline device.  I would default to the new printer icon, Copy 1, and it would work.  This happened over the course of a year without any problems.
Now nothing is working.  The printer can't be found by my network.  I tried downloading drivers, etc. from HP but they either can't download or stop during installation. I don't know if an Windows 8.1 update affected it.
Although the printer has a built in  network set up option, it has no installation wizard.  I can't find a way to activate the wireless feature/icon.  There is no I.P. address either.
I feel like a monkey pulling levers for a banana!  I appreciate your help.

    Hey @Kathlanta ,
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to ask that question on the HP Forums today!
    I understand you are having issues with your HP Officejet 7310xi connecting and staying on your network. Going through all of this is making you feel much like this;
    By the end of this I want you feeling more like this;
Now let's get to the bottom of this and have some fun doing it! (and no, I have not completely adopted the idea that you are a monkey, but for the time being, seems most fitting LOL )
Ok, so what we are going to start with here is; a full print system uninstall and reinstall and run it through USB to test the printers functionality.
Here is how you uninstall the whole printer software on 8.1 >> Uninstalling The Printer
Here is how you install the drivers offline (use the appropriate links to get your steps) >> Installing HP Printer Software for a USB Connection in Windows 8
You wont need to worry about the wireless right yet until we figure out if the rpinter hardware is ok or not. So sit tight on that portion, I'll get that all back and working later after we figure this stuff out now.
Look forward to hearing back from you! Have a good one!

  • I would like to add my Deskjet F4480 printer to my home wireless network. How can this done?

I have a Linksys wireless router that is the hub of my home wireless network.  I have been successful in adding a HP OfficeJet 6500 All-in-one Printer an old HP DeskJet 890C that I purchased in 1997 with a computer running Windows 95.  The HP 890C has been my tireless workhorse throughout my two kids K-12 school as well as printing reams of paper during my MBA...and guess what: it still works.  However, my daughter has just returned home from college and she has a HP DeskJet F4480 printer/scanner that she would like to add it to the home network.  I have been researching the problem, but haven't been successful in finding out if this printer is compatible to add to a wireless network.  Or simply, will a 802.11g Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter suffice?  I am also adding a new Windows 7 laptop in the network, that will need to print to this F4480.  I patiently await the forum's response.

My mistake, it seems that price was a deciding factor when I purchased the F4480 in lieu of a more expensive wireless ready printer-scanner.  I will eventually come-up with a solution as I did with the 890C where I have a wireless print server connected directly to the printer serial connection.  It seems that backward compatible is still evident, but I am having some problems coming up with the long-lasting HP49 and HP23 tri-color ink packs.
Here is the rub; I don't replace technology because it is out-dated. I upgrade and or repair everything myself. I found warranties not worth the paper their written on and in most cases, the technical support was lacking.  My Win95 desktop went thru several major components until I found that it was becoming harder to find software to run with it.  I finally replaced it in 2007.  Now it seems that there has been a paradigm shift toward utilities that are very hungry for memory, and even if I didn't want to, I am forced to come over to the dark side with a device that has a minimum of 8GB of RAM.

  • HP PHOTOSMART 5524 SERIES PRINTER WILL NOT CONNECT WIRELESSLY/COMMUNICATE WITH LAPTOP. PLEASE HELP.

I am really hoping that someone can help me resolve a serious issue with a new printer.
I have tried every diagnostic tool including the HP print & scan doctor and my printer still doesn't seem to connect to my laptop or print.
Although it does print test pages and reports and it also prints directly from my Android phone.
I purchased the printer from ebay and the printer installtion/driver disc was not included. The printer connected to my Sky network immediately, the blue light/dot was solid and it stated on the printer's display 'Connected - and the IP address/MAC details etc'..........
However, when I try to print from my laptop, it won't print - no error message, nothing so I can't figure out what the problem is.
I went to the HP website and d/loaded the driver for my operating system [Windows Vista 32 bit] and when that failed I tried the Basic HP printer driver and that failed also. I then un-installed and reinstalled the drivers & associated software again and also tried the 'add printer wizard' in Windows.
As a last resort, I disabled my firewall and anti-virus software [temporarily] to ensure that was not preventing my laptop from recognising the printer still no joy!
I have tried every workaround I can think of [and I am not particularly computer proficient] and I am truly out of options and ideas of how to get this to work. When I have finished installting the drivers sometimes a dialoge box pops up on the bottom right hand corner [where the icons are] saying 'HP Photosmart ready to use' but I go to print a document either microsoft word or directly from the internet and it still will not print.
This is getting extremely frustrating and annoying. I have spent hour upon hour trying everything I can think of, but it still won't work.
Please help find a solution. Thank you.

    Hello flammingstar,
Thank you for the information. At this point because the print will print from your Android phone, scans, and copies. This shows that the printer itself is not the issue.
The error messages 0x0000643 and 0x0000057, when do you get these errors? Are they on the printer, or the computer?
I would suggest trying to stop, and start the printer spooler. Please follow the steps below.
    1. Click Start
    2. Type "services" (without quotes) in the search field
    3. Open Services
    4. At bottom of the page click "Extended View"
    5. Click in a service in the list,
    6. Press the letter "P" on your keyboard
    7. Search for Print Spooler
    8. Right-click on it, and choose Properties
    9. Select Automatic in the drop down box
    10. In that Properties window you will see buttons for Start, and Stop, please click on Stop, and then click on Start.
Try printing again from your computer. Are you able to print a full page?
    Looking forward to your response.

How do I to use my deskjet 1050 printer as wireless by connecting it to my router? Windows 8 64-bit. It keeps saying, I need to install the wireless connection procedure, but I can't find anything like that. My router is supposed to be able to turn any printer into a wireless.

Even though this printer isn't wireless, there is a way to to use it wirelessly! Here's what you need:Google Chrome on whatever computer you're trying to use the printer froma Google account so you can sign into chrome DO THESE FIRST STEPS ON THE COMPUTER THAT THE PRINTER IS ALREADY CONNECTED TO VIA USB CABLE okay so what you have to do is open up chrome and in the top right hand corner there is a little button looks like three stacked horizontal linesclick that and sign into google chrome (a gmail account works or create a new account)then what you have to do is click that same button and go to settingsscroll all the way down and click advanced settingsonce again, scroll all the way down until you get to Google Cloud Printclick manage and then click add printersit will go to another screen and you should be able to search/add the hp deskjet (this may take a little patience)once everything is connected, all that is left is to print go to the customize and control button (that 3 horizontal lines button in the top right hand corner in crhome) go to settings > advanced settings > cloud print > manage and click the hp deskjeton the left hand side click print and click upload file to printthen pick whatever fille you want to print and WAHLAA! its printing (as long as ur printer is powered on of course)this way you can print wirelessly without losing formatting like you would if you uploaded it to google docsnow you can print to this printer from any computer as long as you are signed in from chrome and the printer is on! MAGIC hope that helps(:

the modem is a UBEE DDW366

Temporarily remove and disable all security on the router. Now try to connect to your unsecured SSID. Are you successful? If yes, go back and add WPA2-AES with your password and try to connect again.

  • Printer will not connect wirelessly or otherwise

I have uninstalled, reinstalled the programs and stuff.  I have tried connecting with a usb, I have tried to connect wirelessly.  I have tried everything the "HELP" says to try and it all says that my printer should work ((which it doesn't)).  When I try to connect wirelessly, it says it cannot find my network, even though I am on the network as I do this online.  When I try to connect via usb, it says that i need to connect my printer with a usb. I DID!! IT IS!!! IDK what else I am supposed to do. When I try to print a test page from my Notepad program the printer shows up and it says ready, then when I click print a screen pops up and says "Unable to comunicate with printer.  Make sure it is connected."   Then the "HELP" says to download the install wizard(for the upteenth time)  which doesn't help at all.
I had this printer working fine over my wireless connection at one time.  Then I had to change my internet provider and switched to a moden/router set up. Now nothing I do seems to make it work anymore.
Any REAL HELP would be most appreciated.  I am about to rip my hair out.

    Hi,
    Please try:
    (a) Install software and driver, ONLY connect printer to USB port when required.
    (b) Test run the printer,
    (c) After happy with it, run installation again but this time CONVERT from USB to wireless.
    Regards.

  • Printer suddenly not communicating with laptop and can't print, possibly due to antivirus software?

All of a sudden I can't print from my laptop, neither wireless or via USB.  I keep getting an error message "printer not responding."  I did the dx/repair and was able to print a test page, but that's it.  Would like to know if it might be due to my antivirus software/firewall?
I use Windows 8 on an HP laptop.  Security software is Norton.  This has never happened before and I"ve been using this Norton subscription for at least 8 months, maybe longer.
Is there something I can do in the Norton settings to fix this?

  • I now have Win 8, and can't print my quicken. Does this have to do with 64 bit and 32 bit foxfire?

Ever since I went to Windows 8, my quicken program will not print correctly. Does this have anything to do with Foxfire 32bit and win. 64 bit?

Hi! Thx for your quick reply! I am still unsure what to do tho---see my questions below in bold:
Windows 7 comes with its own version of the standard PostScript driver. = Where is this driver? I have no idea how to find it, it doesn't show up in my Printer menu in FM?
Given that PostScript generated by a driver can be highly device-specific, you need to install the driver as modified by the PPD file for the device in question. Most printer manufacturers in fact provide a PostScript driver installer that associates their printer's PPD file with the standard Windows Printer driver and subsequently creates what is called a PostScript printer driver instance for the particular device on the I/O port you designate. = ??? I've only updated a PPD file for watermarks and have no idea what this means...is there a step-by-step instruction for this? I just need to download a PS driver to select that works & doesn't freeze up my FM when creating a .ps file.
The real question thus is exactly what are you trying to generate PostScript for? = I create a PS, & then use Distiller to create a PDF. This enables me to have a PDF that automatically has Bookmarks, the TOC/LOF/LOT & all corss-refs are hyperlinked, etc.
If you are trying to create PostScript for distillation into PDF, Acrobat installs a PostScript driver instance of its own, labelled Adobe PDF, that is associated with the Acrobat Distiller PPD. = I have tried the Adobe PDF selection from my Printer menu in FM, but it freezes up FM and I have to close the whole program & no PDF generates.
BTW, although you may be successful in installing and running FrameMaker 8 on Windows 7, in fact Adobe officially does not support FrameMaker 8 on Windows 7. = I don't know what to say---the upgrade is too expensive for some of us folks out here right now, so we all need to work with what we have for now!
I appreciate your help, thank you.

  • IBook, Gateway Laptop and 2 printers, how to set up wireless printing?

I have an iBook G4 with an Airport Card, my wife has a Gateway Solo with a wireless card. We have an existing wireless internet connection. We have two Epson printers that we would like to be able to print to wirelessly.
I'm assuming that I need to connect both printers to a wireless router, and I assume it may be another router and not the one we're using for internet. What do I need to do to get both of us to be able to print wirelessly to either printer from our laptops?
    Would appreciate some help. Thanks!

Well I spent a lot of trial and error getting this to work, however I use the Airport Extreme (white UFO thing) router from apple. From the router that is transmitting your wireless connection, there should be some way to hook up your printer(s) via ethernet cables. If your printers are too far away from the router, you may have to purchase an additional router. My Airport extreme can only utilize one printer at once (yours may be able to have multiple peripherals connected to it). In order to use two, I would have to pruchase an additional airport transmitter (like an Airport Express) and have the 2nd printer wired to that.
The only hangup I had was figuring out why my windows computers didn't see the wireless printer. I needed to have installed Bonjour (Apple's peripheral communication software) on all the computers on the network and it can be downloaded on Apple's support web page. Depending on your router, you may not need to.
Your router, whatever it may be, should work in a similar fashion. Consult your router's manual for the proper connection methods/possibilities. Hope this info helps you some.

  • HP Deskjet 6980-print cartridge error

I replaced both ink cartridges.Once I closed the lid and error came on my screen telling me Print Cartridge error- tri color. and the tri color light blinks continuously???

Hi - by 'compatible cartridges', do you mean refilled or non-HP cartridges? HP can't support those because they are somebody else's product - HP doesn't know what kind of ink is in them, how they were refilled, how they might have been damaged during remanufacturing, etc. Here's a support document on a comparison of reliability of HP vs remanufactured or refilled brands by QualityLogic (an independent quality assurance organization): http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpa00113&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USE....  There is a broken link in this doc, which is a bit annoying, but I think it is trying to take you to this page, which has more on the relative reliability of HP vs non-HP: http://www.hp.com/sbso/product/supplies/printer-ink-refill.html
When you cleaned your electrical contacts, did you clean the contacts inside the printer as well? They are hard to get at, but you'll find them in the cradle where the cartridges go - they match up with the contacts on the cartridges. Don't use very much water at all - a barely dampened, lint-free cloth is best. And I would use distilled water, rather than rain or tap water. Rain water especially could have contaminants.
    I work on HP's behalf.
