Win 7 on Win 8

Hi everyone!
I am fed up with windows 8 which is the reaso why I would like to install on my machine win 7, but, unfortunately, for me it seems almost impossible. I have got lenovo H520s low profile machine with pre-installed win 8. I can't even get into BIOS to change booting settings, because my win 7 is on CD. Any suggestions?

Bought a notebook model LNV L40-70 with Windows 8 makes.
It is for business use and the programs that use the company does not run very well on Windows 8 and for that reason need to install Windows 7 on the notebook.
The problem is that the bios does not show any option to disable the UEFI mode is therefore impossible to boot with the Windows 7 disc.
Have any solution for this problem such as updating bios or some other procedure to uninstall Windows 8 and install Windows 7?

I'm a happy camper after upgrading my HP Spectre XT from win 7 to win 8 (Win 8 upgrade offer). The 128GB SSD disks just makes everything so smooth and fast.
However I am abit annoyed with the Win 7 recovery partition that still uses 20 GB of my total 128GB space.
I have tried searching the forums, as well as the www for any good answers, but I end up more confused.
So I am asking the community some questions that interests me, and hopefully you can provide me with some meaningsful answers
1. Can I now delete my win 7 recovery partition, and if so what is the most effiecient and safe way to do it?
2. Is there a a good way to make sure that if (heaven forbid) something would happen, I still would be able to recover my notebook preferably to win 8, and not the preinstalled OEM win 7?
3. Of course the Spectre XT has no optical drive, so if its doable I might need to make an win 8 recovery partition in the end. Is it possible?

You can use Windows builtin Disk Management to delete the partition, or EaseUS software. Both procedures are outlined at EaseUS site:

As for a Recovery option after deleting, look at System Imaging which is builtin Windows 8 also.You need an external USB hdd for this.

Oracle Database 10g Enterprise version supported on Win 2003/Win 2008?

The Current version of SAP we are using is SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7 version (operating system- WINDOW NT )and the database is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 u2013 Prod
Please help to advice me:
Can currently running version of oracle database be supported on Win 2003/Win 2008?
Can SAP application support the existing oracle database server upgrade to Windows 2003/Win 2008?
Is it possible to have Oracle database separated to other server on SAP DEV and SAP QA?

Desktop Wallpaper shows blank in windows 7 and works in win xp & win 8.

After you applied the policy, what wallpaper will the Desktop of Windows 7 change to? Is it a solid colour desktop? If not, The Hotfix should not work in this case.

Dual Boot Win 7 & win 10 Problems?

I am dual booting this, (Win 10 on my 2TB HDD and Win 7 on my SSD.) and now when i try to boot back to Win 7 my mouse switches off. The thing works fine in 10, and had been workign for years on 7... Anyone else seen a problem like this?
I have tried reinstalling the mouse drivers and it isnt helping on Win 7. Unplugging and pluggung in, the mouse lights up for a split second, but then dies again. switch back to Win 10 and it works as usual. No problem at all...

Are you using USB mouse?
If so, how about another USB port?
If this is a USB mouse, I suggest you uninstall the USB controller in Windows 7 system and restart to check if you can get it work.
1.Open Device Manager.
2.Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
3.Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
4.Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers.

Win XP/Win 7 dual boot question and

My replacement motherboard for my crapped out Dell one that was a replacement, crapped out the other week and it was tested with a new power supply to no avail. it was also tested in a shortcut, (connecting the two wires directly, the two that "short out" that turns on the power) and that didnt work either.. (something like that)
My options are:
buy another replacment motherboard and hope it stays working longer than the six months the other did
Buy a new computer and use my old hard drive
thus arising this question:
since the new computer will have Windows 7 on it, can I use that as a slave drive and use my primary drive (not going to loose my data and stuff) I have the primary drive as XP but the new one will use 7, when I put in the win 7 drive as a slave drive, will it boot to 7 or XP and would I have the option to dual boot, even if they are seperate drives..
I think I am writing it a confusing way but I hope you can understand what I am getting at....

I have XP drive
I buy new computer it has Win 7 drive
Xp drive becomes master, win 7 becomes slave
Will XP boot or Win 7 boot when its set as the slave drive? what about XP/7 dual boot? they are on seperate drives, will it let me dual boot?
I want my XP drive to boot.
I hope you can understand that..
If I can, I would like to reformat the win7 drive and just use that for storage. is that possioble?

Okay I read through your post a few times and I am still a bit confused about what your setup looks like. I am going to assume you bought a new computer with Windows 7 on it thus you DID NOT replace the motherboard on the old one. With that assumption, then your answer would be no, only Windows 7 would boot (and it might have some problems if you have it set as the slave drive). Windows XP from your old hard drive would not boot because simply put, the BIOS will not detect a proper boot.ini file and the hardware configuration (partitions and/or disk types) does not match up.
If you want to set up a dual boot, you would have to install the secondary hard drive (or partition the primary one) and perform a destructive OS restore on it AND find the drivers for it (if the manufacturer of the computer even supports it). When I used to work for the Geek Squad, numerous clients asked about this and the general consensus was that the Geek Squad strongly opposed it because of the drivers. Being that XP and 7 are a generation apart, the chances of the manufacturer of the computer or motherboard releasing drivers for both was unlikely. Sometimes the client would opt to have it done anyway but my former Precinct would always warn them that some features may not work correctly.
If you want Windows XP and Windows 7, I suggest the XP Mode that Windows Pro and Ultimate offers. You literally run Windows XP inside a window of Windows 7.
I DO NOT work for Best Buy. Whatever I post are just educated guesses or common sense.

Dual boot – Win XP / Win 7 – activation problems

Here's the scene:
1/ Have Xp installed and CS4 running fine... (used to have CS3 as well but there was a mobo problem and CS3 now gives an activation error message. Too much of a hassle to reformat and reinstall... yada, yada, yada.)
2/ Just installed Win 7 to test as a dual boot option and installed CS4 fresh. PS and AI both give me a "Licensing for the product has expired" message with no options. There are no other activations, meaning no alternative on another system or laptop, etc.
Is there a work around or do i have to do a completely fresh install? Meaning, deactivate CS4 in th XP boot and then reinstall CS4 in th Win 7 boot?

Here is the answer without having to join the site where the answer lies. The stuff that was removed by me were things that I felt were inappropriate for an Adobe Forum. They do not affect the ability to perform the fix:
So you installed Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection or any of its other applications, and now you can’t even open up any of these programs. You’re probably receiving the now semi-infamous “Licensing for this product has expired” pop up error.
This error will more than likely affect the use of the following programs:
Adobe InDesign CS4
Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended

Don’t worry, because some guys over at who knows where got the fix that will save you many hours of headaches. Download this file it includes both amtlib.dll files the second file(64bit) is only to be added to photoshop (64bit) folder the rest use the regular amtlib.dll file:If you download this file skip to step 3 !

Enter a new serial number for the applications and open up any Adobe Creative Suite program.

Partition Boot Camp for Win 7/Win XP

So here's the story: For about 3 years I had Boot Camp running on my Mac Mini under Win XP. Then came the crash and I had to recreate the Boot Camp partition - this time with Win 7 because I was silly enough to upgrade my OS to 10.7.4 (it's 10.7.5 now). Surprise - many XP programs aren't compatible with Win 7 -DOH!
So, gurus, my question is: Can I partition my Boot Camp partition so I can install Win XP and run my programs?
Second option: I have an external HD with lots of empty space. Can I add an XP partition to it and run my Windows programs from there? If I can, how do I do it?

So as the tittle states WINE is throiwng this error:

As for what might have caused it? probably the last system update which was performed a few days ago, my old prefix works fine but I have a habit of creating new prefixes for troublesome applications, or applications I am unsure of whether they will cause trouble or not.
Hence I created a new prefix using:
export WINEARCH=win32
export WINEPREFIX=~/.problematic
winecfg
As for how wine is run, it's run as a normal, unprivileged, user.
Oh and I also tried generating yet another prefix like this:
$ WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.problematic-new winetricks steam
Executing w_do_call steam
wine cmd.exe /c echo '%ProgramFiles%' returned empty string
Didn't work either.
I'm at loss, any suggestion on how to fix it?

why is ncurses a dependency anyway? besides, wicd-curses works so this shouldn't be the case.

Is there any registry key I can set for this? all my google searching says this can cause with a mismatch of wine versions but why would that happen?
Either way checking wine --version outputs wine-1.7.20 which is the same as it was pre-update (when it still worked).

Incompatibility of Acrobat 6 between Win XP & Win 7

I was using Adobe Acrobat V6.0 easly on a former laptop based on Win XP. I re-installed the application on a new laptop based on Win 7 and since then, I am experiencing problems related to printing & converting files into pdf. Apparently, the incompatibility is well known and the solution does exist but I can't find out the way to find it.

AA XI will be a full purchase. AA6 does not qualify for an upgrade (you can check at the Adobe store). As far as AA6 on Win7 - 32bit (you did not indicate 32 or 64 bit and there is a big difference), you can change the printer port in the Adobe PDF printer to FILE. Once the file is saved, you open it in Distiller to complete the creation of the PDF. The problem is that AcroTray for AA6 is probably not compatible with Win7 and so the work around is required (AcroTray automates the process of calling Distiller in the background after it appears to you that the printing is complete -- this is the broken part and it is not going to be repaired).

Weblogic Win 7 Win 2008 serv Down Server issue

I have now gone through the process of installing BAM/Weblogic Soa suite on 4 machines 1 (win 2008 r2 8 gig virt ) 1 (win 7 8 gig physical) 2 (win 2003 4 gig virtuals)
On both win 7 and win 2008 My SO-servers are always down in enterprise manager and are displaying strange issues and are not working properly etc etc
on both Win 2003 servers all is good so far
My log differences between working and non working is as follows (it is the same in both > 2003 machines)
I have followed install instructions from "getting started with Oracle BPM suite 11gr1 to the letter. Can anybody point me in the right direction before I have to downgrade my powerful dev servers to 2003

Could you please paste the full error message here or share a screenshot with us so we can better know what happened?
Regarding to "Sens Server error messge", I think it might be related to Sens Service (System Event Notification Service), so when you're able to logon to the PC, run "services.msc", then scroll down to "System Event Notification Service", make sure it is
started, and startup type is set to "Automatic".
Please also refer to this KB, and check if it is helpful for this issue.

[SOLVED] wine and wine-silverlight

hello
i wanted to watch netflix so i installed netflix desktop
i needed wine-silverlight for that but it conflicts with wine
how can i install both of them? or is there an other way to watch netflix on my linux computer?

In many cases you can use wine-silverlight instead of wine. The improved API may result in a few bugs in other functions becoming visible, so if that is the case you can use the precompiled pipelight and wine-compholio packages from the pipelight repository. http://fds-team.de/cms/pipelight-instal … tion_1_2_1

Really! what is wrong now days!
Are we all living happilly ever after using open source technology on our Win's and our Mac's and dont't give ANY CREDIT to ALL THEM LINUX USERS CONTRIBUTING ENTIRE SYSTEMS WITH OPEN SOURCE CODE ALL THESE YEARS!?!?!?
For Windows I can understand this... BUT Mac?!?!?! over Unix and Linux????
What about the Solaris version dudes?? I haven't seen any of that either....
I was waiting so long for this release and you gave it to the monkeys that haven't seen a shell in their whole life and dont't have an idea of what is open source (which Sun is practically based onto).
Even "MacBuddy" Adobe made a linux version of Flex.
I've also seen the Ad that said at the end "keep it open"... well that's a laugh...

Adobe PSE12 Trial download page is producing an error at the moment (although five minutes ago it did offer the Windows trial download) so maybe they are in the process of adding the Mac version. Actuallly I think that error was a problem with my browser cache <sheepish grin>

Compatability of ECC DEV&QAS on Win 2008/SQL 2008 with Prdn on Win 2003/Win

We are planning our upgrade of my SAP landscape (ECC 6.0 , Portal & BI) . Would it be feasible and do-able to migrate sandbox, dev, and qas to Windows 2008 & SQL 2008 , allow the support team to use the 2008 landscape. That means that my Dev. environments would be on Wind 2008 & SQL 2008 while my production would still be Win 2003 & 2008. I'm not feeling like this is workable for the transport domain? will I have issues with transports across to production?
So the question is
Is it possible to transport from Windows 2008 SQL 2008 landscape over to a production landscape that is on Windows 2003 SQL 2005?
Any other issues I should be aware of ?
BTW, we would have Portal and BI setup in the same way DEV & QAS on the newer releases and Production on the Older release.
NOTE: this would be for about 3 - 4 weeks

So you're saying that if I had the DEV environment in Win 2008 SQL 2008 (being the transport domain) , and the production environment in win 2003 sql 2005, IF we had to transport across this type of landscape there should be NO issues.
Nothing else to think of as posing risk?

BootCamp or Parallels running Win XP & Win 2000 Pro on MacPro Xeon Chips?

I know that BootCamp (BC) only allows XP on the Mac. I currently run the MacMini (for testing) and the MacBook with Parallels using WIN XP and 2000 Pro. However, does anyone know if Parallels Desktop (PD) will run WIN 2000 on a MacPro since it now ships with the Intel Xeon chips as opposed to the Intel Core Duo chips recently shipped in the iMac, MacMini, and notebooks?

You'll probably want to address that question to Parallels. I can't see anything on their site that mentions the new Mac Pro, so you'll want to confirm with them that the current version of Parallels Desktop is compatible with the Mac Pro and if there are any limitations re. the OS versions Desktop can run.
