Win 8.1, Clean Install, No AMD Display Adapter Found

I have a C55D-B5203 AMD basec Laptop. After a restore from backup failure, I had to do a clean 8.1 install. The recovery partition was damaged. Only the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is found, not the AMD adapter. I have tried to install the Catalyst based driver, but that also doesn't detect the A600 adapter. What should I try next?

Essentially all the drivers and utilities at that site need to be installed for the laptop to operate as designed - and the order matters. You can stuggle with that if you have the time. I don't and would restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media.
If you failed to create recovery media, obtain it from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here
See the instructions in the section Restoring from recovery media, which begins on p. 49 of the User's Guide.

  • Help Lenovo Y50-70 Win 8.1 clean install

I'm new to Lenovo, Win 8 and to this forum. I'm considering buying Lenovo Y50-70 Notebook model 59441814 - Intel Core i7 4270HQ, 8GB DDR3L, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GTX 860M 4GB, 15.6" Touchscreen, 4K UHD, USB 3.0, no DVD drive and Win 8.1 pre-installed. I also have retail MS Win 8.1 Pro "Full Version" 64 bit DVD and key. Would like to upon receipt of latptop to: (1) replace 256GB SSD with a Crucial MX200 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" SSD, and (2) do a complete clean install using my retail 8.1. Reasons are: increased capacity and get rid of all the unnecessary stuff that Lenovo pre-installs. Since I don't have a DVD drive and I have read there are some issues with boot secure, can someone provide recommendation on sequence of steps to follow. and /or how to.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hi Forest1,
    Welcome to the Forums.
When you receive the Y50-70, can you try these steps:
    1. Follow this video disassembly guide on how to replace the HDD with an SSD. Alternatively, you can also watch this youtube video on how to replace the drive.
    2. If you're planning to install Windows 8.1 Pro in UEFI mode, follow this guide on how to convert the DVD installer into a USB installer. When finished, boot into the BIOS and set the following settings then hit F10 to save and exit.
        - Link to picture
    Secure Boot = Disabled
    USB Boot = Enabled
OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS
When finished, boot from the USB flashdrive that you created (by tapping F12 and selecting the flashdrive on the boot manager) and you should be able to install Windows 8.1 Pro on the SSD.

  • Satellite Pro L500-1D6: Win 64bit clean install - No WLan can be found

I've been looking on the forum but no solution so far has revealed itself.
I did a clean install of Win7 64 ultimate on my Toshiba Satellite L500-1D6 and the wireless card is being recognised in device manager but I can't find any wifi networks or start an ad-hoc.
Its saying it's a realtek PCIe FE family thing. It's driving me maaad.
I must have installed like 5 different drivers for it and everything, is there a definite fix?

    >The card was working, but after updating the driver from the Toshiba site, I couldn't connect to wireless anymore.
Im asking myself why someone needs to update any drivers if everything works fine ?:|
However, the WLan should be enabled using FN + F8!
You can also go to device manager -> WLan card -> properties -> advanced tab
Here you will meet different options. In my case there is an option which could enable/disable WLan too.
Set the BIOS to default in many cases this helps and is necessary

  • Can't upgrade or clean install new Blackberry Link in Win 8 32 bit system

    Hi Helpers,
I cant install the New BB Link version on my system - (the previous version ran perfectly).
Whether I try to update or clean install (old version now uninstalled). I get a pane saying that Microsoft visual C ++ 2008 Sp1 redistributable - W8  needs to be installed first.
The process starts that install - but alwayys fails.  After that the BB Link install just closes.
I can't seem to attach any screenshots (be helpful to be able to 'navigate' to them rather than type in a path).  But I havepasted below the full txt contained in the 'windows installer' pane that appears when the install fails.
Can anyone suggest any way to correct this problem please?  Btw, the new BB Link installs perfectly onto Windows 7.
Thanks in anticipation.  (On trying to post, I was informed that some invalid HTML has been removed - presumably that was in the 'paste' but I've no idea what it was or whether it affects anything, sorry).

  • AMD 5770 stuttering with clean install Mountain Lion

I am having issues with bad screen stuttering using an AMD Radeon HD5770 on my early 2008 3,1 Mac Pro running two 24" Apple Cinema Display in portrait mode. The screen stutter/shaking issue is very obvious when using animations like alternating between Spaces/Desktops.
This issue does not occur using the Mac Pro's original ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT.
I do not think the HD5770 graphics card is to blame because the issue does not occur when I boot into my legacy internal hard drive, which over the years I have updated from OS X 10.4 Tiger to Mountain Lion.
FYI- I had previously used an ATI Radeon HD3870 with that drive...is it possible there are old AMD drivers enabling the HD5770 to work?
The screen stutter issue only occurs when I have booted to a clean install of Mountain Lion on my OWC Mercury Accelsior PCIe SSD. Is it possible that booting onto the PCIe SSD is interfering with the HD5770? I LOVE this SSD card and really want to continue using it as my boot drive, so I'd like to figure out how to enable it to work with this graphics card.
Since Mountain Lion includes the HD5770 drivers, I am perplexed why a clean install would not work but the upgraded system does.
Since there are no drivers to install, I have reached an impasse with my clean install of OS X 10.8.
Any thoughts how to troubleshoot this?

Sorry to hijack the thread a little but I have an early 2008 Mac Pro with the HD5770 card and I'm thinking about the OWC Mercury Accelsior PCIe card.  While I gather from your post that they both work together okay in your system, I'm wondering if you had any issues fitting things in.  Any problems with the two in the same system?
    Thanks,

  • T500 win 7 clean install wifi problems

    Hi there,
I recently did a clean install of windows 7 on my t500 thinkpad. I have downloaded all of the related drivers and installed them.
My problem is that I can not make a connection at all by wire or wireless. The wifi link 5100 does not even show up in the device manager.
Any advice on what I need to do to get this computer running properly again?
    thanks!

Exactly, once it installs drivers it will detect additional HW and then install more drivers. It may take 2-3+ restart and reboots to fully detect and install all of the drivers.

  • Qosmio F60 Win 7 clean install plus drivers

    Hi
I would like to clean install win 7 64 bit on my F60. I've already worked out how to change my boot sequence, [ with the help of this forum], so I'm ready to format & reinstall. However my concerns relate to reinstalling drivers specific for the F60.... Any advice on this process would be appreciated. Is it a matter of just downloading from [http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/qosmio/f60/pqf65a-00y002/download?os=25] & installing as I need. Can this be tricky?
    Any thoughts & guidance appreciated
    Regards Lantana
Also would like to update bios...is there a step by step process for that too?

I have a Qosmio F60 & have done a clean install. I'll run you through the steps.
    1. Make recovery disks before doing anything else. It's a good backup should there be any problems & will allow you to return the laptop to "out of the box " state if you want. Once the Recovery disks have been made (about 3 or 4 DVD'S), you can delete the recovery partition, but if you're unsure I would leave it as is.
    2. There is a folder containing all your drivers and programs on the C drive. Back it up to DVD or a USB drive.
    3. Back up your activation information. I used Token Restore (Google it). Back up your data.
    4. Install WIN7, use the advanced option, reformat your C drive. Make sure you install the same Win7 version that came with your laptop (ie Home Premium, Pro ect). Don't enter your activation details at this time, but use Token Restore to do this after installing your drivers. After you install Win7, you'll have basic functionality, ie your mouse touchpad will work, cd drive will work ect. Display will be at a lower resolution.
    5. Install drivers & utilities. I installed the following in this order.
    Intel chipset driver
    Intel turbo boost driver
    Intel management engine interface
    Intel rapid storage driver
    NVIDIA display driver
    Realtek audio driver
    NVIDIA HD audio driver
    Dolby Control Centre
    HDMI Control Manager
    Realtek LAN driver
    Realtech Wireless LAN driver
    Bluetooth Monitor
Toshiba Value added package (custom install... I didn't install Zooming Utility)
    Ricoh card reader
    Synaptics Touch Pad driver
    Winbond CIR driver
    Yuan DVB Tuner driver
    Toshiba Eco Utility (optional)
    Toshiba HDD Protection
Toshiba Disc Creator (optional if you have other CD/DVD burning software)
Toshiba DVD Player (optional, it upscales DVD's, but not much improvement over WMP for playing DVD'S)
    Toshiba Remote Control Manager
WinDVD BD (for playing blu-ray) & the update downloaded from Toshiba website.
    6. Install your own software, antivirus, data, restore your activation information then run Windows Update. Also worth running a good defrag program like MyDefrag or Puran Defrag (both free).
I would install the recently released BIOS update prior all this.
It is possible to trim the installation back even further, but I find this gives me full functionality while removing most of the bloat. I do find this better than simply uninstalling unwanted programs, as some like Norton AntiVirus are almost impossible to fully uninstall.
    Hope this helps.

  • How I do a clean install of Win 8.1

Since my initial post        "Why is option to create striped volume grayed out in disk management?"
I have seen numerous threads re doing a clean install of Win 8.1. So I'm re-posting the info I got from Puget Systems  http://www.pugetsystems.com/ when I RMA'ed the ZenBook back to The Egg and got a laptop that boots in 1.7 seconds and works.
Edit !That was time before any progs installed. Now that I everything on it's about 20 from hit restart to waiting on me enter P/W.
Regardless of your system the advice I got from PS before the system was even built here in the US should apply as I ordered it W/O an OS.
D/L Drivers from the systems Mfg. site. If it's a DIY Lego then from the Mfg. of products, i.e. chipset, video card, audio, etc.
    When Windows begins install;
    Choose Custom Install.
    Uncheck Let Windows load drivers.
Uncheck any other options you don't want as well. I unchecked about everything and yet*
    When OS is installed
Go into add/remove features and enable .NET Framework 3.5.
Restart Then load Drivers. As mentioned in other post I had already drivers Dl'd from Puget's site
and had in separate folder on flash drive.
This is by far the cleanest, best running Windows version I ever had on a system and have been installing since Win 95 A.
Hope this helps some of those who are having Clean Install issues.

  • Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA4E) - No Sound Following Win 7 Clean Install

Hello, A European friend really struggling and looking for help.
I have just clean installed Win 7 Home Premium (64 bit) on a Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA4E) which was purchased in November 2006. It was previously running XP and I never installed Vista though the laptop is badged Vista Capable) I followed the Win 7 bios/driver/software install order but I now have no sound at all. Everything that I have tried so far has failed to fix it.
The laptop has a Conexant based audio solution with harman kardon speakers. Win 7 has installed the following driver which reports the following info.
High Definition Audio Device (Microsoft Driver version 6.1.7601.17514 dated 11/19/2010) and Device status: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
    Hardware IDs:
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31&REV_1000 HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31
There is a second exclamation mark in Device Manager for a further unknown device / uninstalled driver (showing code 28) for a device with a Hardware ID of ACPI\SMCB000 but I do not know what this device is!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a fix for my sound issue?
    Thanks!
    Martyn

Any one have any thoughts on this issue?
I have failed to locate a working / compatible Windows 7 x64 driver for Conexant HD Audio!
    Perhaps there isn't one?
Perhaps I need to try harder?!?
Perhaps the on board sound solution featuring Conexant HD Audio is simply ****** as on www.conexant.com they say manufacturers have TOLD them NOT to make drivers available (... to poor unfortunate users)!!!
I think that manufacturers need to step up to the plate and support / help their customers.  I own 4 Satellite Pro laptops running Vista x32 and Windows 7 x64. This one cost me well over £1,200 so I don't want to hear or conclude that it is simply scrap!  That would represent truly poor value for money - the kind of business case that would undermine my belief that Toshiba laptops are the best in the business.
Ditto Microsoft - the Windows 7 x64 Upgrade Advisor tool gave me the all clear to upgrade this system.  All generally appears fine EXCEPT the lack of sound.
Having now been exposed to the experience of many other laptop owners set out in various forums etc, covering both Toshiba laptops and some other major brands, I have to conclude that the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor is flawed and that a successful upgrade is somewhat hit and miss affair.  Beware!
That said, still hopeful that someone out there will be able to help me fix this issue?
    Regards
    Martyn
P.S.  I can be reached by any Toshiba or Microsoft technical support guru looking to make a difference and help me out.

Need to do a clean install of Win 7 on my Dv7 1464rw. I purchased this computer with Vista on it and HP sent me the upgrade for Win 7 as part of the purchase. Can I reuse these discs or do I need some other disc to do this? Also, Do I need to wipe the hard drive clean or will the install process do that?

Do you have the license key with the Windows 7 upgrade disk? If so you should be able to use it to format and reinstall.

  • Thinkpad Yoga - Clean install with Win 8.1 disc and embedded product key

    Hello everyone,
I purchased a Thinkpad Yoga that comes along with Win 8.1 and embedded product key.
Will it be possible to plug-in an external drive and install Win 8.1 from a Win 8.1-disc? BUT I don’t want to use the key that comes with the disc, but the key embedded in the bios.
This is my girlfriends Windows 8.1 disc and license. Nevertheless I could use it for the clean install.
But I'm not sure, if the original key from my Yoga will work then.
    Thanks

I guy on Youtube made a rough tutorial.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI8AnNBIlLQ
    Englisch subtitles available
In the comments he suggests, to download the Iso with anouther win-8.1-key - no matter which one - and to install the system clean. In his opinion the system will get the key from the hardware. He is writing, that there is just a universal iso. So it's no problem to download an iso with another key, even if your system is a Home-Edition and you download it with a Pro-Key.
    I will try this.

  • A22m and A21m will not install/recognize internal Ethernet card after WIN XP clean install

    Hello,
I have few of A22m's and A21m and a few weeks back I did clean install WIN XP SP2. All is good with the exception of Ethernet card - which is not recognized after the installation. Previously those systems were running XP SP1 and there were no issues with the Ethernet card.
I have tried all possible driver downloads from Lenovo/IBM support site including Intel and 3com and still nothing. Supposedly the Ethernet drivers are native to win XP, but for some reason I can't get them to work.
I want to donate these units to charity, but I want to make sure all works fine.
    Thanks in advance,

    Welcome to the forum!
Please post the 7-character model number(s) of your A2x ThinkPads (should be something like 262x-xxx), so we can determine the type of mini-PCI card installed.
Also, after downloading the drivers, have you unpacked them from the appropriate directory, should be something like C>Drivers>Win>Ethernet.
Good luck and let us know.

  • Firefox window not displaying properly even after clean install

Hi - Yesterday firefox stopped displaying properly on my windows 64-bit dell laptop running Windows 7 home premium. When it starts up all I get is a thick translucent bar at the top of the window where the toolbars normally are, and the main content pane is jet black. I'm pretty sure firefox is actually running. If I pass the mouse over the transluscent bar the cursor changes to indicate whether in input boxes are for web addresses and the google toolbar, and task manager shows it is running the firefox start page. But I can see nothing.
I have uninstalled firefox, rebooted and done a clean install (twice) based on the help instructions, but no change. All other applications seem to be running normally. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with firefox.
    Thanks

hello jp100, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd3000 graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764 (for win7 64 bit)
in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode '''by pressing the shift key while the application is launching''' & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).
