Win 8.1. Core language and multi-language support.

HI,
I've used a US developed program with multi-language support for years in Win XT and Win 7. As the program now supports win 8.1. I've upgraded to 8.1. and the new release of the program. However it will not work properly and the reason given is
that my version of 8.1. has a different core language compared with what the program uses and this version is not multi-language supported. Now I wonder if there are various versions of the core language in 8.1. or is the core
language unique, supported by various language packets for menu's, guiding texts, etc. Why do I then need a multi-language supported program? Where can I put this question?

Screen dims and multi-language "restart" message appears

Currently, every time Safari is used, the entire screen dims and a multi-language (German, Chinese, etc.) message comes on the screen saying that I must physically power down my machine and restart. No error message is given, nor are any other options allowed, as the keyboard and mouse are rendered useless.
I have rebooted the machine several times, including powering down the cable modem, but the problem persists.
This problem has occurred in the past, but seemed to clear itself, only to reoccur starting yesterday (23 Sep 05). I can't shake the feeling that this problem is more in the OS X arena than in Safari's, but testing does not seem to bear out my feelings - all other installed applications appear to run properly and this phenomenon of screen dimming with forced power down and restart does not occur with other applications.

I suggest the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
If you continue to have the problem, then reinstall the OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo) updater.

Multi-Currency and Multi-Language

What issues does an ABAP developer need to be concerned about when programming objects that involve multiple currencies and multiple languages?

Hi Rae,
Can't think of many but few that comes to my mind spontaneously are:
1. When reading data such as texts, make sure you pass language key.
2. Translate each and every text (in scripts, smartforms, data element labels, documentations etc to all the language, use the same logon language in which you want to maintain and test.
3. Currencies should not be much of a problem but if you have to make a lot of calculations, make sure you do them with dimensional consistency, for examply JPY doesn't have decimals!

Thai Language and American Language

It is posible to display both Thai Character and English Language from the database to the client machine.
If yes, can you give us an instruction on how to set this National Language Setting.

The last 3 paragraphs of my letter (in Pages) inadvertantly changed from English language to another language (I don't recognize the language). How did this happen and how do I get my letter in English back.

That is just Latin placeholder text from your template that you haven't replaced.
Just delete it.

AppleTV with AAC+AC3 and Multi Languages

Hi!
I've an Apple TV, and I have succeeded to have AAC + AC3 in a single movie, thus allowing me to play it with 5.1 surround in my receiver.
However, I would like to have another language at the same movie.
According to this article, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1755, you can have AAC + AC3, but it doesn't mention if it is possible or not to have more tracks.
So, now with Apple TV 2.2, I can push and hold play/pause for options during the movie play, and that allows me to choose a new chapter or new audio tracks.
I created a movie1.m4v, with the following characteristics in "Show Movie Properties" of QuickTime:
movie1.m4v
Video Track - H.264
Stereo - AAC (English)
Stereo - AAC (Portuguese)
Text Track - Text (chapter marks)
It works perfectly!
Now, let me try the AC3 with a single language:
movie1.m4v
Video Track - H.264
Stereo - AAC (English)
Surround - AC3 (English)
Text Track - Text (chapter marks)
Works perfectly too! I can have dolby digital surround in my receiver!
Time to add the second language with AC3:

Chaos! None of the AC3 tracks works, even though Apple TV allows me to choose the track through play/pause options. The AAC for English and Portuguese works, but none of the AC3.
So, the question is: is it possible to have multiple languages with AAC + AC3 in a single movie and be able to play it on AppleTV?

Display selected language in multi-language environment

Hi there
I have 3 keyboards defined in settings>General>Keyboard EN, FR, DE
Swapping from one to the other shows me shortly on the spacebar the language I've chosen. Also the "return" key is renamed. Bad thing is that DE and EN both use the term "Return"
Has somebody an idea how I could display the active language as icon, or as text on the spacebar (like iphone 3.1), or whatever solution exist

To my knowledge there is no way to change anything like this on the iPad. If you hold down the Globe button you can see a list and tell what keyboard is active. That is all there is at present.

Windows 8.1 Multilanguage OS and Store language

Hi everyone, I'll try to explain my problem the best I can:
I am trying to deploy a Windows 8.1 image using ConfigMgr 2012 R2. The image is configured as a multilingual image using French (Default) and English.
My deployment is working fine and I am using the Unattend.xml file to set the language settings to either FR-CA, FR-FR (UILanguage).
My problems are the following:
Modern App are showing in English.
Windows Store is displayed in English.
I did found that if you go to Control Panel\Clock, Language and Region\Language there is bot English and French language displayed there.
The language listed at the top will define the language the Windows Store will use when installing Apps and the language displayed. So if French is at the top, the store will be in French.
My problem is that even if I am setting all the languages in the Unattend.xml to either FR-FR or FR-CA, the store will remain in English unless I manually place the French at the top in the control panel.
There is the HKCY\Control Panel\Desktop\PreferredUILanguages key that will also define that setting.
To make this automated, there is the GPO called Restricts the UI Languages Windows should use for the selected user that I can use, the problem with this setting is that it will restrict the language with no possible way to revert to English which will ruin
my effort for a Multilanguage image that the user can decide.
Anyway, my question is, I am missing something about how to set the language? Is there any other setting that I can use in the unattended.xml to set the PreferredUILanguages key or do I have to use either two different policies or set it by using GPP?

Edit: I tried using the GPP setting with no success. The way I am looking at this behavior seem a bit buggy. When manually selecting stuff, the setting is right but setting it programmatically, this is not.
When selecting English manually, all the user's interface is in English, when doing the same thing manually for French no problem. With a freshly deployed image, settings seems rights except the part I am talking about.

Like I said I did tried the XML on a deployed computer I am using this command Control intl.cpl,, /F:"Path to file"

EPM Multi language support for custom list in demand management

Dear Team,
We have installed EPM 2013 with English as base language and Arabic language pack as secondary language. We have implemented demand management and portfolio management as part of EPM implementation. Currently demand management have some workflow and
custom list supporting these workflow. Just want to check, when user changes language setting from English to Arabic then all the forms ( build using custom lists) supporting English input forms should able to take Arabic text as input to these forms.
Please let us know how we can achieve.

Was able to do it by adding new files to the shared folder and updating the style in the lang folder to point to the new files.

Different Safari and system language

Hi, I would like to ask, if it is possible to have different system language (System Preferences > Language/Religion/Preferred Languages) and Safari language. The problem is, that I want to have my Mac in english (Preferred Language - English), but Safari in Czech language, because if I set my Mac language english, then safari automatically turns pages into english language, and i have to click back on the Czech flag. I'm sure everybody knows the option which some webpages have - its usually on upper right corner, where are two or more flags depending on what language do you want to have the webpage.
Theres an option in Chrome to change this (Chrome > Preferences > Show Advanced Settings > Languages > Language and imput settings), but for Safari I'll have to figure it out by Terminal or something I believe..I don't know. Eventually that's why I'm here asking you.

Scripting Multi Language

Hello. I've been authoring DVDs for about half a year, and I've got my head around the basics.
Im embarking on my first major DVD project. It has 4 language options, each language has audio and subtitle content and the menus also will need to be in the 4 languages.
I've considered making 4 sets of menus in the different languages, but as this DVD is interactive is already very complicated.
Do I need to make 4 different sets of menus in the different languages or is there another way?

I've one a lot of DVDs like this - with a menu or menus for each language, and a language selection menu. Most I've done is 12 subtitle tracks with two language tracks, two menus per language, and one language selection menu, 29 menus total. Subtitle and audio track selections were set in the button settings on the language selection menu - easy.
The problem is returning to the right menu when different menus call the same track(s). You have to use scripts to remember which menu you came from, then use end jump scripts with a lot of IF statements to choose the right menu to go back to. If you want to reselect the same button, that gets much nastier, particularly since you can't use prescripts in that case, as they erase SPRM 8 which hold the last button. You have to jump to a script that sets a GPRM with the menu's number, THEN the script must jump to the desired menu. A pain.
Each one I have done has been a bit different, but now I can do these fairly fast.
If you have other interactive features, it gets even more complicated. Lots of scripting required to keep it all tied together! Luckily, the scripts are usually very short. In most cases, only one script is needed for the end jump of all tracks - it handles every return case. This is good because if you fix one, you fix 'em all.

Multi-User Support

I have all of my photos saved on a file server in my house. I am using Photoshop Elements 11 on my desktop to catalog all of my photos. I am doing things like tagging photos and the people recogonition features.
If I install Photoshop Elements on my wife's laptop and she accesses the same photos on the file share, will she see the tags?

I don't think there is software that both has face recgnition and multi-user support. Normally, multi-user support is available in upper-end packages, while face recognition is usually available in consumer packages.
If you want true multi-user support, one such product is called Daminion.
I wonder if Adobe will catch on to this feature reqeust.
I'm sure they know there are people who want multi-user libraries. In my opinion, they choose not to add this feature because the cost to develop this feature would blow up the cost of Photoshop Elements to the point where people wouldn't buy it. Which is probably the same reason multi-user libraries are not available in Lightroom either.

Ultrasearch and Portal Multi-language

Does Ultrasearch provide any integration to the multi-language support in Portal? If a Portal user is working in French, does a Portal search return only the French content from the Portal Repository? Also, is there a way to specify language in the search?

UltraSearch will crawl Portal and take into account language information. However, the support for Portal item and page translations is not yet fully implemented. This means that UltraSearch will only be able to crawl a multilanguage portal in one language at the moment.
Portal search has full support for translations and will return content in the language of the user that initiated the search.
In 902 there is no way to restrict the search by language other than by logging in to the Portal in a different language.

Multi language support for reports and prompts labels

Requirement1
I want to label the listbox with X, where X is either 'Categories' or 'Products'.1.In your rpd, create a new session variable init block
Name : DynamicName
Query: select case when ':USER' = 'USER1' then 'REGION1' else
CASE WHEN ':USER' = 'USER2' THEN 'REGION2' end end from dual
Assign the above query’s result to a session variable; DISP_NAME
2.Double click on the presentation column(in presentation layer) that is supposed to change dynamically->check the box ”Custom Display Name” -> Type in VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION. DISP_NAME)
3.With the assumption that you already have created a prompt with the above column, login as USER1, you will see the prompt label as 'REGION1' (value is fetched from the session block query).Similarly login as ‘USER2’ and check the prompt label to show 'REGION2'
This solves the first requirement.

On the dashboard I would like to present the title: 'Report by X', where X is either 'Categories' or 'Products'.1.Navigate to your report in answers

3.Add a narrative view to the report (remove the existing title view) and the give the reference as the column added in step 2.Save the report.
4.Logout and login as USER1, you can see the report title as 'Report by Categories' and for USER2 , it will be 'Report by Product'
