1) Boot computer – immediately click / press F10 to get into the BIOS Manager.
2) Press F9 to set the BIOS to factory default.
3) Press F10 to "Save and Exit"
4) Redo the Recovery – remember to leave the wireless light “on” during the Recovery
Other thing to try: don't use the supplemental disc... set the system date in BIOS to 2012... run "Minimized Recovery" instead of "Factory Reset"
I currently have the same issue with my HP 15t-j100 CTO and HP 13 Split x2 (both on loan from HP). I have tried various fixes/solutions posted on the forum, but haven't been successful in recovering my computers. In both cases I an using a USB Flash Drive set up as HP Recovery Media. It appears you are using an external CD/DVD drive and 4 DVDs as your HP Recovery Media. My computers display a "Restoration Incomplete" dialog box and CTOERROR.flg displays;

  • Detect some error during PININST_BBV. [SOLVED]

    I have a HP 2000-2b16NR that needed a new HDD. I ordered and just received the Recovery DVD's for this model from HP and after 5 times running the HP recovery I get this error message.
    ChkErrBB.CMD : Detect some error during PININST_BBV.
    ChkErrBB.CMD : Check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log
    ChkErrBB.CMD : or, check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log
    I've already tried defaulting the BIOS like suggested in another thread for this error with no joy.  I even pulled the CMOS Battery and removed the Main Batt/Power as well.
    Searched the HDD for these two log files BurnBootWarn.log  and BurnBootMerge.log and they do not exist in c:\system.sav\logs. However did find this one in there BurnBootMergeBBV1.log.
    Replacement HDD is a HGST Travelstar H2IK500854SP 500GB / 5400RPM / 8MB Cache
    I suspect that one of the DVD's is bad or HP's Recovery Process is utter cr@p!
    RESOLVED: Seems the Supplemental Disk is bad.  Ran recovery skipping the Supplemental Disk and all is fine.

  • Detect some error during PININST_BBV HP envy-15035eo

    Hello!
    I just bought a new Samsung SSD 840EVO to my HP Envy-15035eo running Windows 8.1. I popped the SSD in to my computer an ran the recovery I bought from HP. After the computer reboots a couple of times the recovery restars and go back to the initall stepps of the recovery. Then if i pull out the USB-drive and reboot the computer ill get the message
    "The recovery attemt har failed. Select one of the following buttons: Save log , Details. Retry". If i press "Details" I will get the following message:
    "ChkErrBB.CMD : Detect some error during PININST_BBV.
    ChkErrBB.CMD : Check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log
    ChkErrBB.CMD : or, check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log"
    I have tried to do a recovery after I load setup deafaults in the BIOS and enabled Legacy support. I have even done a Start up test on the new SSD and it passes the test.
    Any help would be greatfull! Thanks!

  • HP Envy m6 - getting error while recovery of my OS. Detect some error during PININST_BBV

    I am receiving the following error while reinstalling my OS using the HP recovery Discs.
    I get this window with no close button except for Save , Details or Retry.
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : Detect some error during PININST_BBV.
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : Check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : or, check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log
    (The two .LOG files do not exist on the C: partition which is there.)
    My hard disk has crashed, so I used a new one [1 TB] which is bigger in size from the factory installed 750GB.
    I did all the tests by pressing F2 - system diagnostics. All system tests have passed.
    Please help me with the solution, as I need my laptop running ASAP, but the recovery is giving problems.
    I did other procedures to reset the Boot options to Factory defaults using F9. IT didnt help me.
    It keeps throwing the same error.

    I have tried all the suggestions to change the BIOS date from year 2013 to 2012.  The recovery CD's shipped from HP automatically changes the date to 8/27/2012.  I can't help it.
    I bought another new HDD with size 750 GB similar to the facotory shipped HDD.  Did the start-up test again. Everything passed.  But, in the recovery, I still have no luck.
    I reordered the Recovery discs from HP which had the application repair disc as well. I used all the 4 recovery discs , and the system ran for almost 2.5 hours and gave the same Error  PININST_BBV  , BurnbootWan.log and other one.
    Can anybody help to resolve my recovery issue ASAP. the model is HP envy m6-1188ca.

  • "Detect some error during PININST_BBV."

    I am still working on the recovery from this problem which AxshunJaxun was able to help me correctly diagnose.
    I have since received Recovery Media from HP and purchased a new HDD which should be an improvement over the factory part. And, I have spent part of yesterday and most of today working on the recovery process with no success (multiple failed attempts).
    I keep getting a "recovery failed" message from the Recovery Manager application with the specific detail message of:
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : Detect some error during PININST_BBV.
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : Check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : or, check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootMerge.log
    (The two .LOG files do not exist on the C: partition which is there.)
    I have followed the process (had to initially hit ESC instead of F2) laid out by anthony82 and encountered no errors on the memory and HDD tests.
    According to this post this is likely a problem with the Recovery Media from HP. Has anyone else seen this type of problem and determined that to be the case as well?

  • Detect some error during PININST_BBV

    Hi All,
    I sold my HP Envy 17" via eBay, before I shipped it I did a recovery, to give the customer that new laptop experience, it worked OK however windows wouldn't activate.  Microsoft kept saying it's locked by a 3rd party.  The customer returned the laptop, I gave a refund, and now I'm trying to sort the issue out.
    HP sent out recovery disks, now, when I'm trying to perform the recovery, towards the end of the recovery I'm getting the "Detect some error during PININST_BBV" message.
    I've tried resetting BIOS to defaults.
    I've tried turning on legacy boot in BIOS.
    I'm out of options, I don't want to call HP support because it's just too painful a process.
    Has anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Detect some error during PININST_BBV HP Envy 4-1130ew

    Welcome.
    My problem is with the recovery kit with usb.
    Error Detect some error during PININST_BBV
    I did it in the bios as reported on
     http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Recovery/quot-Detect-some-error-during-PININST-BBV-quot/td-p/2...
    So F9 and enter.
    And still nothing.
    The computer has been added frames with 6 gb ram 16gb.
    The computer is not guaranteed.
    Is it possible that by adding ram recovery does not work?

    Thanks for the reply.
    Unfortunately, it did not help.
    There is still this error message.
    Date in the bios I changed after every reboot.
    I set 01.01.2012.
    at włanczaniu bios change date on 07.03.2012 (from what I remember)
    I tried to upload a clean windows 8.1
    the pendrive.
    The installation went fine.
    The product key fits into the bios.
    Compuer works.
    Only I still have the impression that it is you should not take place in this way.
    If you have the original system compuer windows 8.
    I bought extra recovery kit by serial number of the computer.
    That's why it does not work.
    I spent money (again) on the original system.
    And I am forced to upload another and combining to make it work.
    I do not understand this policy.
    The problem I think is not resolved.
    Please send me any other suggestions.

  • Dv4 ChkErrBB.CMD: Detect some error during PININST_BBV.

    I was trying to restore my computer and I keep getting an error. ChkErrBB.CMD: Detect some error during PININST_BBV. I have made sure the Sufi is turned on and tryed the ctr-alt-del at the error message but it wont open the task manager so I can end the setup process. I have tried to restore the machine like 6 times.
    Computer is a dv4-1551dx using factory restore disk. On a side note I have restored successfuly before with the same disk about a year ago.

    I see everyone is having the same problem, and HP Tech Support is no help at all.  Here is how you fix it. When you boot up your computer hit F10 that will take you to the BIOS manager. then hit F9 to set BIOS to factory default save and exit then do recovery.  Worked for me and it only took me 3 weeks to figure it out lol.

  • Error -8785 while burning disc 2 of 3 during Back Up to Disc...

    I regularly back up my iTunes library to DVD media-i hadn't done it in a few months and when I went to do so today using regular HP DVD+R discs that I've used before for this, the first disc burned fine (I needed three discs total, per iTunes). Discs 2 and 3 immediately failed with a -8785 error code. I restarted my MacBook Pro and used different discs, and keep getting the same thing. It looks like iTunes is fine with the first disc I burned as backup since it now says only two discs are required for the incremental backup. But I can't backup my iTunes library to disc (apart from, say, data discs). Disc 1 in this series, incidentally, was disc 30 for my collection, so I'd like to keep it going. I'm using iTunes 10, but I don't think that's the issue, since the first disc burned fine. Suggestions? Thanks.

    I had the same, Error -8785, error while writing an MP3 CD. I found this post during a Google Search: http://lists.apple.com/archives/quicktime-api/2007/Apr/msg00110.html . Some of the names on the tracks, and the comments were very long, so I shortened them. Then it worked.
    I hope this helps.

  • After disk recovery, restoration incomplete error - error during PININST_BBV - and can't access BIOS

    Hi I haad got :Ultrabook HP ENVY 6-1103el
    I performed a disk recovery (with disks made myself) to wipe the hard drive. Got to disk 4 of 4 when HP Recovery Manager window appeared with following error message when I click the Details button:

    [21:12:12.08] because RM's dialog can't appear on [Start] screen on Win8 environment.
    [21:12:12.08] customer may not notice RM already shows Error dialog.

    [21:12:12.08] ----------------------------------------
    there might be unexpected reboot during BBV Clean or Last...
    The process will cause CTO panic because the image might not be normal...
    There are 3 options, Save Log, Details, Retry. When I try 'Retry' it asks for recovery media. I've put my recovery disk 6 and disk 1 in, but nothing happens. Oddly enough, the command prompt (cmd.exe) is open at this point. Now whenever I restart the laptop it goes to the same restoration error screen with the command prompt open and minimized in the lower left hand corner.
    Pressing F10 (BIOS Setup) or F11 (System Recovery) after starting doesn't do anything, it just goes straight the the Restoration Incomplete message. Pressing Esc during start goes to the Startup menu, but pressing F10 or F11 there just does the same thing. F2 System Diagnostics works. I ran quick memory check, everything passed. I ran the long hard drive check. Overall it passed, and each one passed except for optimized dst it said 'not available'. When I choose BIOS Management from Diagnostics UEFI, and try either a BIOS Update or BIOS Rollback, I get 'The selected BIOS image was not available.' My system's BIOS ID is F.23. When I try to select a BIOS Image to apply, I've clicked through the file trees and there's nothing there to choose.
    I tried recovering the BIOS pressing Windows and b key when starting. The screen stayed blank and the caps lock light kept flashing but nothing happened. The screen just stayed blank and no bios update screen appeared.
    Did my BIOS become corrupted during the system restoration from disk?
    Any  suggestions or options?
    Thanks.

    Hi  larag,
    Thank you for your reply.

    Hi msclaude,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!  I'm not sure from your post what steps you have tried, but it sounds like you may need to use recovery mode to address the issue with your unresponsive iPod touch.

    If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    You can put your iOS device into recovery mode, then restore it using iTunes.
    Use recovery mode
    You might need to use recovery mode to restore your device in these cases:
    iTunes doesn't recognize your device or says it's in recovery mode.
    You see the Apple logo onscreen for several minutes with no progress bar.
    You see the Connect to iTunes screen.

    To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:
    Turn off your device and leave it off.
    Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
    Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
    When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
    When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.

  • Can you help me? I meet some errors when I do incomplete recovery with RMAN

    In recover step, There are following errors:
    RMAN-11001: Oracle Error: ORA-01547: warning: RECOVER succeeded but OPEN RESETLOGS would get error below
    ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
    ORA-01110: data file 1: '/d/db/oradata/db01/system01.dbf'
    question:
    1. Should I restore archive log files generated on July 16th back to orignal archive directory in order to avoid to recover failure?
    2. Or Should I add the command "sql 'alter system archive log current'" in the backup script in order to avoid to recover failure?
    The following is the detail information:
    The database is ok when I try to do incomplete recovery database that was fully backed up on July,16th,2004. The database is oracle 8.1.7 and is in the archive mode:
    The following is the backup script:
    run {
    allocate channel 'dev_0' type 'sbt_tape'
    parms 'ENV=(OB2BARTYPE=Oracle8,OB2APPNAME=db01,OB2BARLIST=ora8i_online)';
    backup incremental level 0 filesperset 1
    format 'ora8i_online<db01_%s:%t:%p>.dbf'
    database
    include current controlfile
    archivelog all delete input;
    I use it to do a full backup on July 16th,17th successfully.
    And I use the following scripts to do incomplete recovery:
    run {
    allocate channel 'dev_0' type 'sbt_tape'
    parms 'ENV=(OB2BARTYPE=ORACLE8,OB2APPNAME=db01)';
    sql "alter database mount";
    set until time ='17.07.2004';
    restore database;
    recover database;
    sql "alter database open resetlogs";
    sql "alter database open";
    There script is successful in restore step. But there are some errors in recover step. The detail information is showing in following log:

    2. Or Should I add the command "sql 'alter system archive log current'" in the backup script in order to avoid to recover failure?
    Can you help me ? Thank you.

    You are correct. In RMAN8i, you should add the "alter system archive log current; command before you backup the archive logs.
    You are running into the case where Oracle needs additional redo to make the database consistent that was located in the current online log at the time of the backup.
    If you set UNTIL TIME to an earlier time does the recover work?
    In Oracle9i, if you issue the command, "backup database plus archive logs", RMAN will automatically archive the current online log before performing the archive log backups.
    Thanks, Tammy

This is currently happening for InDesign, Photoshop and Bridge. I had this problem previous and was able to fix by doing a complete wipe of my computer and reinstalling CC. However, I should not have to wipe my computer clean everytime I need to do a CC update. HELP!

    I have tried several times to install iTunes update 11.1.4 on my PC.  I get a message saying that install was not successful and an error message of MSVCR80.dll not present, Error 7, (Windows error 126).  I am told to reinstall iTunes, but nothing changes.  What next?  I've not had this problem with other updates requested by Apple.

    I have also had the same problem with my Win 7 32 bit computer.  I had great help from Apple techs in Montreal and Orlando for 2.5 hours.  They helped me remove every trace of Apple products and clean the registry in two different ways.  Each install gave the same problem!  If Apple techs can't fix it (on some of our machines) then we are really in trouble.  They promised to raise it with the "engineers" and get back to me with a solution.  I am waiting and hoping.  Otherwise maybe version 11.1.5 will have a fix ??
