Win 8.1 SkyDrive on Lenovo Helix laptop

I am trying to sync files between SkyDrive on my Win 7 desktop and my Win 8.1 laptop. This worked very well in Win 8. In Win 8.1 it does not work.
* I have right-clicked SkyDrive in File Explorer, and chosen to make the files available off-line. There is zero information about whether this choice is propagated down through the directory tree, but I assume so.
* The operation of SkyDrive appears as extremely sluggish: when I click in the directory tree of SkyDrive, a green progress bar appears at the top of the window. Depending on the number of directories and files in the chosen directory, the progress bar uses
from seconds to minutes/hours to complete -- before directories and files eventually are marked as being available off-line. The time use appears to be the same whether I have visited the particular directory before, or not. This gives a very strange impression
-- it cannot take that long time to find out that files are available off-line???
* A large number of files appear to be not available off-line, even when they seem to be marked as available. I have dozens of image files of various types linked into my word processor. The some of these files are downloaded, others not. The ones that are
not downloaded, do not appear in the word processor. If I double-click on the files to manually (?) download them, a progress bar appears saying that 0% of the file has been downloaded. Then nothing happens, until I'm informed about error code 0x800705B4,
and that my that the download was stopped due to time out.
Upgrading to Windows 8.1 has virtually made my expensive, new Lenovo Thinkpad Helix *unusable*. I use Win 8 64-bit, and log on the the system using my Microsoft account (I assume... I have set up the computer and SkyDrive using my hotmail account.)
A working solution should be provided ASAP, and I should not have to be a computer scientist to interpret the answer!

Belie
Here are the rather comprehensive steps to trouble shoot the issue.
Basic trouble shooting
How do you sync your Onedrive?
Are you having issue syncing your Onedrive to your computer or mobile devices?
What is the version or operating system of the device or computer you're syncing with Onedrive?
Are you getting any error message? What are the recent changes made prior to the issue?
Does issue occurs on all your Onedrive files or just on a specific file?
Can you edit your file via Onedrive web?
What are the exact steps you did on how you're trying to edit your files on 8.1 Onedrive? Is it via the Onedrive client or the modern Onedrive app?
Is your PC connected properly to internet and not on a metered network?
Could you confirm if the Onedrive Sync Engine continues to run and doesn’t continue to crash? To check, Go to Task Manager, ensure "Sky Drive Sync Engine Host" process is running.
On your Onedrive app, are there errors at the top of the screen or top right corner? (Top right corner error is a link that opens the “Progress” view page. )
Are there any icons on your Onedrive client on file Explorer  that indicate errors (i.e., yellow triage, red x).  If there’s an error icon, look for the error at the bottom of the file explorer window or right click on the Onedrive and select
“View error” and opens the modern Onedrive app “Progress” view page
If the above doesn't help then
Restart your system
Confirm that your computer is able to access the internet and is not on a metered network.
Confirm that the Onedrive Sync Engine continues to run and doesn’t continue to crash. Go to Task Manager, ensure "Sky Drive Sync Engine Host" process is running.
When viewing through Onedrive app: Launch the Onedrive app and look for errors at the top of the screen or top right corner. Top right corner error is a link that
opens the "Progress" view page.
When viewing through the Onedrive Desktop (File explorer view): Click on the Onedrive node and look for any icons that indicate errors (i.e., yellow triage, red x). If there’s
an error icon, look for the error at the bottom of the file explorer window, or right click on the Onedrive, and then select View error which opens the
modern Onedrive app "Progress" view page.
Verify if the files being uploaded do not exceed the 2GB file limit in Onedrive client (Windows Explorer).
The file has a name that is not supported. Rename the file to a valid name.
Finally you can run the Onedrive  troubleshooter.

As you know - Microsoft forced the 8.1 upgrade on 8.0 users. The Lenovo Z500 laptop has a display problem (dim lit monitor) once 8.1 installed. There appears to be no firmware / software fix - so what is the solution ? In the event there is a hardware swap
or another alternative, please let your customers know. Do not compromise your Goodwill, maybe your legal staff should have a talk with Microsoft. Microsoft compromised Lenovo Customers by forcing the 8.1 Upgrade. As others, one day it downloaded and installed

  • Lenovo Helix - Issue outputting to external monitor

I received my Lenovo Helix today and am having issues outputting to an external monitor. During initial setup output was working but with the occasional flicker, so I performed all Windows Updates and Lenovo updates, however now it will not output to external at all. Monitor is a Dell 2740L 1080p monitor using a Kanex MDPHD10ft mini displayport to HDMI cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Lenovo Helix i7 256gb... wish I bought a Surface Pro for better support...

Has anyone found a solution for this issue yet? I was unable to get the Intel HD Graphics driver 9.17.10.2932 or 9.17.10.3071 to work. Sent the computer in to Lenovo; they have replaced the motherboard three times. I'm surprised that each time they sent the computer back, they didn't check to see if they had actually fixed the output problem.
It appears that the problem lies in the Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver (see: http://www.eightforums.com/graphic-cards/7743-those-troubled-hdmi-sync-issues-intel-hd-3000-4000-etc... ).
For a company with a long legacy of sucess, Lenovo has sure disappointed this time. It's going to be hard to recommend their computers to anyone if they can't even acknowledge that they put a nonfunctioning port on their laptops.

  • Lenovo G550 laptop - red, blue, yellow specks and lines on screen

    Hello,
I have a 2 year old Lenovo G550 laptop, system model 20023 ( Dual-Core CPU T4300 2,10Ghz, 3,00GB RAM) running 32-bit Win 7 Home Premium OS with graphic card Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
Month ago, I started getting 2 vertical lines on my screen, which change colors and tend to disappear when I tilt it. Recently, problem graduated to red, blue, yellow specks all over the screen. Tilting no longer works, but I noticed a definite relationship with the degree of pressure on the case. When I push hard enough on the left spot below the case (where hard disk is located), the problem resolves completely. I also tried plugging another monitor in and there seems to be no problem either. Please, help.
    Solved!

Graphic card issue sounded highly unlikely with the external monitor image appearing to be normal. I tried reseating the lcd cable and it fixed the problem.

  • Unknown Device in Device Manager for Lenovo G780 laptop, Windows 7

Hails all.  I am trying to figure out what the Unknown Device is under Other Devices in my Device Manager.  I recently got rid of Windows 8 and put Windows 7 64-bit on my Lenovo G780 laptop.  I installed almost everything from the Lenovo site --- all of the drivers and such, software, etc.  I cannot figure out what this device may be.  The only external device connected to the laptop is a Kensington usb mouse.  Any ideas?
I did run the PCI test program and the Motherboard test program that Lenovo provides and it didn't find any errors.  Windows Update hasn't found update/driver/software for the Unknown Device.  The Lenovo Solutions software only tells me to open Device Manager.

    Welcome to the forum!
Since Windows Update didn't pick up any missing drivers, I'm guessing you are missing a driver for a device that would be propriatary to Lenovo.  During the installation of Windows 7, did you install the One Key Recovery software ?  If not, the One Key Recovery button maybe triggering that exclamation mark in Device Manager since there is no driver to tell Windows what to do with that button.
If that wasn't the problem you can try running Unknown Device Indentifier to see if that utility can indentify the unknown device.  The free program can be found at the link below........

  • Lenovo Helix - On-Screen Keyboard with Bitlocker

    Hi Community,
i've tried to install Bitlocker on my Lenovo Helix with Windows 8.1 Pro. As long as the dock is connected with the tablet, you can decrypt the harddisk with the right key. But if the tablet hasn't a dock or an external keyboard you'll only see the blue bitlocker-homescreen and can't do anything.
Another helix in my company works with bitlocker - so i know it can work.
    i've tried the following things:
         - different Bios-Versions
         - install all drivers and additional software
         - set up a new Windows 8/ Windows 8.1 (Pro)
The on-screen keyboard works by adding a Bios-password.
Btw: The helix won't let me install Windows in UEFI-Mode..
    Can somebody help me?

current, it runs on legacy boot - the uefi bootloader doesn't work for x86 Win8.1 (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=SF13-T0008)
well, i have to install 32-Bit. The helix in Uefi-Mode only boots from the x64-Win8.1-DVD (or USB-Stick)...

  • Lenovo Helix - Clean Install of Windows 8.1 - Best way to load Software and Drivers

I am considering doing a clean install of the Windows 8.1 operating system on my Lenovo Helix.  What I am wondering is if (After I install the operating system) there is an easy way to get all teh lenovo drivers and software loaded without having to download/install each of them one at a time?
If not, is there a specific set or order from which they should be installed?
Is there anything I would lose by doing a clean install of 8.1?
    Thanks....

    Sarbin,
I only have one device issue that has popped up.  My keyboard has begun to work somewhat wonky.  Sometimes if I am in tablet mode then switch to keyboard mode the keyboard doesn't respond.  It will only respond after several reboots/shutdowns.  Is there a good way to make Lenovo System Update reinstall the keyboard drivers?  If you have any advice on fixing this issue that would be great.
I also thought I was going to lose all teh Lenovo specific apps when I did a clean install.  I didn't.  The only one I don't see is one which was called "Lenovo Experience".  It was nice but if that is all I lost then I am ok with it.
I love this computer.  Now it feels like new again....
    You're welcome.
Some things I prefer to install manually, outside of TVSU. BIOS and firmware are good examples. Have a look through the driver listing for the keyboard/dock update and scan the readme. The behavior you're seeing may be part of that fix.
Looking at one of my Win8 OEM-preload machines, the Lenovo Experience shortcut points at "dxpserver.exe". Maybe that info will help pinpoint if there's an installer for the complete package.
    Hope this helps.

  • Flash crashes Windows 7 Pro 64 bit IE11. Lenovo X301 laptop with Intel Graphics. Confirmed it happen

My company has several Lenovo X301 laptops with Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) running IE11. I load clean versions of Flash onto these laptops (latest version 12.0.0.77) and every single one of these laptops crashes when opening IE11.
One thing I noticed when I used the help.adobe.com site. Using IE11, the box which "dynamically displays the following information" shows the correct version of Flash player and OS but the browser says "None". If I run Chrome, it says the correct Flash version but the OS says "Windows 7 (32 bit) and the browser correctly says "Google Chrome".
The crash report for IE11, module name is Flash32_12_0_0_77.ocx.
    1. Why is the program unable to determine the correct browser?
    2. Why does it appear that a 64 bit program is trying to use a 32 bit plug-in?
    Any ideas?

    1. "User-Agent Strings"
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.Microsoft has no immediate plans to "fix" the mess they've created.
    2. Chrome is a 32 bit browser, and will identify as such, including the plug-ins in it.
IE uses the plug-in from the SyWOW64 folder (WOW=Windows On WIndows - which runs 32 bit apps in the 64 bit environment)

  • 27" iMac as monitor for Lenovo T400 laptop (VGA out)

I thought I read that it would be possible to use the iMac as an external display. I bought a cheap cable that is Mini-DisplayPort (M) to VGA (F), and I also bought a VGA cable (M-M). I plugged the cables into each other, then into the iMac, then into the Lenovo T400 laptop I have to use for work.
The iMac didn't react at first, then, when I pressed cmd-F2, the display on the iMac changed resolutions to something like 640x480, but was still displaying the Mac. I looked at the Display control panel on the Lenovo and it could see that a monitor was plugged in, and could see what size/resolution it was. However, even when I clicked "extend desktop onto this display", it still didn't display anything from the PC onto the iMac screen.
All went back to normal when I unplugged the cables.
    Thoughts?
Sure, it could be the cable(s), but I was intrigued that the Windows Display Control Panel could see that there was a monitor there.

    Brent D. wrote:
I read that. It says, among other things "using a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable or using a converter that converts other electrical, video, and audio protocols from another source device to Mini DisplayPort compliant signals. (Cables and converters available separately.)"
A 'simple' VGA to Mini DisplayPort adapter is not sufficient to provide "+Mini DisplayPort compliant signals+" as mentioned in that article.
For that you would need an Analog-To-Digital converter and those are ranging in about USD 200 or more.
Are you saying that the Mini DisplayPort adaptors that go from Mini DisplayPort to VGA, which I bought, only go from Mac to VGA monitor, rather than in both directions?
Yes, that's exactly the point (see above).
    Sorry

  • Web Camera doesn't work on my Lenovo G570 laptop, Please Help?

Well I recently bought a lenovo G570 laptop. The webcam worked fine for the first month. I don't really know when the camera stopped working but it seems that every software that uses a camera can detect the camera but when the video window pops up it is just plain white. I know the reason isn't because of the hot key FN+ESC because it works fine, I can disable and enable the camera. I read many threads with the same problem. I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers and easy capture but it does not solve my problem. Can someone please help?

As I  understand the camera is not working.
If the camera is getting activate by Fn+Esc key then it could be driver issue.
You need to uninstall the camera software and other relates software.
Update the BIOS and then install the camera drier
Download the BIOS update for Windows 7 32bit from the mentioned below web link.

  • T60 - Lenovo 2623 laptop and Aluatek STD-19034 Universal Power Adapter

I have a T60 - Lenovo 2623 laptop with a standard power adapter that I got in an office lottery.  It is a great system. I wanted to get a second power adapter to have in my day bag for the just-in-case situations and found an Aluatek STD-19034 Universal Power Adapter at Fry's Electronics.  The device and their website state that they are compatable with the Lenovo laptops.
    Part Model: STD-19034
Brand: AC Adapter - Original Aluratek Part.
    Description: Aluratek STD-19034 AC Adapter open end :: Input: 100-250V 47-63Hz 1.4A
    Output:19V 3.4A
    http://www.adaptertech.com.tw/JP/16_ac_dc_switching_adapter.html?CID=2
Since this is a 65w adapter, my question is will the device really be compatible with my laptop.  The standard Lenovo adapters for this laptop are either 60w or 90w.  The Amp output on the Aluatek is between the two standards, but the Voltage output is 19 versus the standard 20.  I don't want to damage my laptop.
What do you think ?  safe to use ?

Lenovo uses 20 V adapters, so from that perspective this is already looking bad. Also, there is different plug sizes and polarity, so you have to make sure this matches that with your normal adapters.
I would suggest you stick with the OEM laptop adapters.

  • Lenovo Helix - sending to second screen issues

    Hi,
so i recently tried hooking up my lenovo helix up to my Sony TV (i don't have any more info on the TV than that, sorry) and a little bit of the screen on my helix was cut off, so i couldnt see the task bar at the bottom, or the tabs at the top of my browser. I was watching youtube, so it was pretty frusterating to watch in full screen mode because i couldn't see the progress bar at the bottom. i looked through the built menus on the TV, and couldnt find any way to change the dimensions. i was wondering if there is someway to change what size the screen is thats being sent on my helix. thanks in advance

    hi TheoNet,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
That cable you're using is meant for HDMI to VGA.
I believe that this will not work. "VGA output only provides analog signals while HDMI input will only take digital signals".
Converting it through a cable will not work. It can be possible but you will need a Signal Trans-coder that converts analog to digital signal like this:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audio-VGA-to-HDMI-Video-HD-HDTV-Converter-Box-1080P-/150531829415
    Hope this helps
