Win 8 along side of Win 7 ?

Satelite S70t-A I ordered this with Win 7 Pro along side of Win 8 Pro. When I first got it going it came on in 7. I then made 2 sets of recovery disks. All went well so far. There was no Toshiba factory recovery disks for Win 7, but there is some for 8. Before I screw up everything, I want to tread carefully and find out if Win 8 is actually on the hdd somewhere, and if it is how do I access it? If not, is there anything I need to know before installing Win 8. I want to be able to have a choice when I boot up or whatever. Unbelievable as this may sound, I actually hate Win 8 (ha ha) I want to play with it and see if I can learn to love it. Who knows?
I just realized I posted this in the wrong subject area.yesterday, so I copied it here with this update. In the meantime I did make another partition in the drive and I couldn't see where I had a choice to pick the new partition to load Win 8. I re-installed 7 from my recovery disk and got back to factory condition with no extra partition.

Install along side of Teacher / Sudent version with diff Adobe ID

Hello all,
I have question regarding the installation of Adobe Cloud along side a teacher / student version. My nephew and niece both live with me, they are students. He is studying computer science and she is studying art graphics or something like that. She has a student / teacher version of an older Photoshop suite. Our PC's are as follows:
Niece's Laptop (1 copy of her photoshop suite installed here)
Nephews Laptop
My laptop
Nephews Gaming PC
My Work / Gaming PC
Ultra Powerful PC (2nd copy of her photoshop suite installed here)
So I am installing creative cloud trials on my laptop as I type this. And my Work / Gaming PC is powerful enough to run creative cloud as well.
However I built my nephew and niece a powerful PC with i7 cpu, win 7 ultimate, 32GB Ram, SSD and Raid etc. He uses it for Database and modeling type stuff, she uses it for Photoshop suite especially anything dealing with video stuff.
So I would PREFER installing my 2nd copy of creative cloud on that powerful PC as well. But not if it is going to mess her photoshop stuff up. I know when I told her I was thinking about getting the new photoshop cloud cs6, she said her class wasnt using the new version. I don't know if she uses the cloud stuff or not, but I know she uses an adobe ID for adobe learning videos and what not. If I install this along side hers will my apps remember my Adobe ID and her apps remember her adobe ID or will there be conflicts?

The 10.4 upgrade smart playlist editing has removed the ellipse as the 3rd button option along side the adding or removing a parameter. Why? And can we get it back?

I just did the iTunes update to 10.4 (80) from 10.3 on a MacPro OS X 10.6.8 . I am extremely nervous and saddened by a subtle change to the smart playlist editing features. I have 178.26gb of music, and a very extensive array of playlists and smart playlists taking full advantage of all the wonderful features and complexity someone has taken the time to develop. I have taken years of time developing my library, and this one little change will set me back substantially. The change? Removing the ellipse as the 3rd button option along side the adding or removing a parameter. The button allowed one to create levels or groups of parameters within the dialogue window that could act independently within one smart playlist. For example, songs from artist "A" needs at least 2 stars to be included, while songs from artist "B" need three stars, and they both can be in the same smart playlist which has its first level of complexity. I have lists that go dozens of layers beyond. And dozens more that cross reference. Is there any way we can get the hierarchy back, ie. Reintroduce the ellipse button? Or is there something new I do not know about? Thanks!

I would like to second this.
This subtle yet life-changing removal is a total loss for advanced users that (used to) take full advantage of "logical and hierarchical" playlists. It tremendously impairs the "smartness" of the feature, effectively removing the possibility of mixing "and" & "if" parameters—which was the real beauty of the whole concept of "smart playlists" à la iTunes.
Here's a simple example. I would like to create a playlist combining two genres (rock and electronic) with only songs that have a rating higher than 3. I cannot do that anymore. I need to create two playlists:
a first playlist (A) that displays [Rock] OR [Electronic] (note that this playlist will never be played, it's an intermediary step required for B)
then a second playlist (B) that displays [songs from playlist "A"] AND [with a rating higher than 3].
It's a pain. And it clutters up browsing lists on my iPad/iPhone a lot.
Smart playlists should get the ellipse button back!
Moreover, the possibility of creating / editing smart playlists on iOS via a nice menu would be just… awesome. I would have thought Apple was going in that "smart" direction with iTunes. In hoping it's just a delay… until iOS 5 maybe?

Now I want to downgrade it to WINDOWS 7 using a windows 7 upgrade DVD. Also I have the volume licensing key with me of Windows 7 enterprise edition. Right now , I am willing to install it on ONLY ONE computer.
So, all I need is your help in the installation process .......install now & next steps of installation.

Sadly this leaves Enterprise/Business editions out of the question...This has been extremely bothersome considering BitLocker is only included in Win 7 Business and higher (Being part of a HIPPA compliant Mental Health Agency this is EXTREMELY important
to our functioning, especially now that TrueCrypt has ended their support and no longer even offers a download that will let you encrypt the system drive! Leaving us fumbling around trying to find a new solution)

You must upgrade your Windows 8.1 Pro to Enterprise Edition (I've been told the upgrade is only 40$ (USD)) then you may Downgrade to Win 7 Enterprise...Still a little bit obnoxious just to downgrade but if you aren't working for a company with 100s of PCs
(Like me) I guess it's not so bad.

How to remove win 8 and install win 7 in bootcamp

I want to completely remove win 8 and install win 7 in bootcamp. I followed the steps in bootcamp assistant and it appears to remove the win 8 partition. However when starting a new win 7 bootcamp partition and installation setup still thinks win 8 is being used. how do I get it to recognize the win 7 now being installed from the usb drive? This is on an iMac 27 late 2012 with OS x 10.10.1

As per the query we understood that you are looking for Windows downgrade on your Ideapad N580.
Before doing any changes in the system HDD partition or with Windows OS, I suggest you to create the system recovery media and then you can downgrade the OS. But you require Windows 7 recovery media.

How can I merge email from a Win 7 to a Win 8.1 Thunderbird app?

I have Thunderbird running on two PCs. One is Win 7 and the other is Win 8.1. I have used both so the Profile folder is set up in both PCs. I am planning on going to only the Win 8.1 PC. How can I get the email messages from the Win 7 PC merged with those on the Win 8.1 PC?

I downloaded and installed ImportExportTools and was able to export mail from the Win 7 PC but when I try to import it into existing files it doesn't work. The instructions you point to only give instructions on how to export files but not importing and the Thunderbird Import will only import files from other email clients and not from other files. How does one import the files from Win 7 Thunderbird into Win 8.1 Thunderbird?

I have read a whole bunch of posts on the issue of installing Win 8.1. According to the labels on the disks I received with the machine, they contain win 8.1 pro. Which is what I want to have installed. However I am concerned about future installation of win 9.
I can't use the installed Win 7 and then install Win 8 from the disks because this process appears to destroy any installed software; unlike the retail upgrade.
Is the best path to simply discard all of the supplied OSs and do a clean install of the retail Win 8? Then win 9 should be good (I understand we really don't know what Win 9 upgrade is going to do).
What is the best method of providing the required drivers if I do a clean retail install? Are any of the Lenovo supplied applications actually necessary for proper operation and can they be installed on a retail Win 8?

Upgrade win 7 Pro to win 8.1 Cannot access Homegroup

I have a Dell Desktop which was the computer that I created my homegroup on. I have a total of 6 computers on my home network. When I upgraded from Win 7 pro to Win 8 pro. It asks me to join homegroup. When I click on join, the computer spends several
minutes "verifying password". Then it asks me for the password and I enter the correct one that was used before the upgrade. The CPU spends several more minutes grinding away before telling me, "Windows no longer detects a homegroup on this
network. To create a new homegroup, click OK, and then open HomeGroup in Control Panel." I click OK. I go back to the HomeGroup in control panel and it tells me I have created a homegroup on this computer (actual names not included for security reasons)
and only gives me the option to join. If I click join I go through this same process again....
I ran the troubleshooter and no problems are detected. I asked for more help and that's how I eventually got here.

Based on your description ,there several possible reasons for this issue ,please try the following methods and let me know the results .
1.1 Type “services.msc” at the command input box hit enter.
       1.2 Go to the two services ,and make sure that they are on.
  2.  Date and time might be incorrect. Here’ how to check this :
           2.1  Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap
Search
           2.2   In the search box, enter date and time, and then tap or click Settings.
2.3   In the list of results, tap or click Date and Time.
    3. Already belong to an HomeGroup
In this case ,leave the HomeGroup and rejoin it and make sure that no duplicated computer name exist.

Win XP Pro to Win 7 for 64 OS

I want to upgrade from Win XP Pro to Win 7 to take advantage of it's 64 bit OS capability and to go beyond the 3GB ram limitation in XP Pro. Do the applications in the CS4 Design Premium utilize the additional ram if I have 12GB of ram in my computer and the power of 64 bit processing?

Thanks for the quick reply. So, if I understand your comments correctly, each of the CS4 apps will run with 2GB of ram and Photoshop is the only one that runs in 64 bit if I were to install Win 7. I won't be running multiple apps but plan to install 12 GB of ram to get some more robust performance out of some apps and try to avoid "out of memory" issues when working with large files.
For example, I scan drawings in TIFF format for archiving and then open them in Photoshop to convert to jpg for modification. These color scanned images are many times 36 x 48 plans @ 200 dpi and generally range from 1GB to 1.5GB in size. Oftentimes if they are in TIFF format I can't do a save as because of an out of memory alert.

In device manager showing that biometric reader is working properly. But actually the finger printer reader is not reading or senseing. It seems like "dummy" part. Please help me to correctly configure step by step for this issue.

Why people get a wierd email address along side my main address when I reply through iPhone?

it was brought to my attention that we I sent a reply to someone through iPhone, first the recipient doesnt see my address in "From" and when they hit reply back to me, another strange email appears along side my email.
For example: I emailed "[email protected]", she gets my email but my email address doenst appear in the "From" field and when press reply back to me, two address appear "mine" and this strange address "[email protected]" which btw keeps chaning with each email exchange to [email protected] o or [email protected]..etc
and this only happens when I send an email from iPhone..it doesnt appear when I use my desktop email client.
is this a normal thing?

Nik Software .tif not saved along side of original photo in LR5

I will try to be brief. I use LR 5 and the NIK software collection as a plug-in. Ever since I've been using NIK, the .tif photo is saved right along side with the original photo. However, recently LR 5 crashed on me a couple of times and I noticed one of my major keywords was missing from the keyword list. I did what the LR tech support folks recommended and that was to go back to a backed up catalog that had the major keyword in it and use the backeup up catalog. I copied my last saved LR Catalog from the end of November 2013. Since then I took photos on 16, 17, 18, and 19th of December 2013. So, when I used the last none good catalog of Nov 2013 these four sets of photos from December did not show up. So, I used the import function in LR5 with "Add" and found the photos on my hard disk. LR5 added them to the catalog. Great. Prior to all this, when I used NIK software, the .tif file was saved right next to the original photo. That does not happen to any of the photos in these for folders from December. The NIK .tif photo is saved next to the oringal for any photo previously shot prior to Decembers photos. Any photo I shot on 16-19 Dec after I added them back to the catalog, the .tif is saved at the end of the add sequence and not along side with the original. I'm guessing it has something to do with adding these back to the catalog. I have not taken any new photos since 19 Dec 2013 and used my CF reader to have LR "Copy" them to my photo location on the hard drive so I have not tested out what happens going forward. Adobe support recommended I remove these four sets of photos from my LR catalog and import them back into the catalog with the "Add" feature. I wanted to see if anyone out there has any suggestions on what is happening and how to fix it before I try the Adobe suggestion. Like I said, it only happens on these four folders of photos that I added back to the catalog after using one of my last good backed up catalog to recover from the crash. Thanks for anyone that can help.

Currently, my Sort Order is "Added Order". The photos in LR5 grid view show in the order I took the photo which is what I want. If I uncheck the "Stack with Original" box in the External Editing Tab in LR5 Preferences and edit a photo with one of the NIK products,the .tif photo goes to the end of the sequence and not put next to the original photo. With the "Stack with Original" box checked and I go to edit in one of the NIK products, it moves the original photo in the grid view to the last in the sequence and adds the .tif photo next to it. I never had this issue until LR5 crashed on me.

Installing CF9 beta along side CF8 developer edition

I am using CF8 developer addition on an XP pro SP3 machine running IIS 5.1. I would like to install the CF9 beta. I know you can run this along side of 8, but how does it do that? Am I able to use IIS still or do I need to use the built in Jrun server? I just dont want to effect my day to day development on 8, but I would like to play with 9. What's the install procedure to do this?

I presume the developer edition you have installed is a standard install, not a multi-server? You don't specify.
One can have a standard install and multi-server install cohabitate on the same box no worries. Just install CF9 as multi-server as per a normal multi-server install, and configure it to run on a new site set up in IIS.
I pretty much always run multi-server on a dev machine so I can simply deploy any number of different CF instances I need, at any given point in time. It might be an approach worth considering..?
