WIN 8 incompatibility with 4635 wireless printer !!

Tried everything in the 1 sheet guide ! Unable to print to my wireless HP 4635 printer from my HP 14" notebook!! Both are new!!
When I called the support number they offered to sell me the drivers for $100. I hung up!

You need to use the CD that came with the printer or you can download the drivers off the HP web site.
Download and install the full featured software and drivers here.

Can I print from my ipad with an wireless printer and an apple app or do I have to have an air printer?

It depends on the printer and if it is shared on your home network.
I have a wireless HP printer, but it is not an E Printer and cannot print directly from my mobile device.  I purchased an Epson all in one E Printer so that I could print from my tablet.  THe printer cost me less than $90 at Walmart.

how to print with a wireless printer with airport extreme

The problem is not the router.. the issue is the vpn has put your computer in a different IP range with a different gateway. When you turn off the vpn the computer returns to local lan and can print.
Some vpn software allows you to set gateway to use local net instead of remote gateway or access to other webistes or local lan.
    Read up the issue.

    Cisco vpn client..
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/239113
I did not search much.. just grabbed the first article I could find that explains the issue.
The whole point of the vpn is whilst it is connected your computer is NOT part of the Local Lan .. it is part of the Remote LAN via the vpn tunnel.
It is also a security risk using split tunnelling so often it will not be allowed.
Plug the printer directly into the computer via usb or whatever.. Local connection will work.. not local lan.

  • Airport does not communicate with my wireless printer

    Hello all,
I can really use some help here.  We have a Canon wireless printer and an Airport Extreme.  The printer was working wirelessly until recently and I called Canon for tech support.  I was on the phone with Canon for an hour.  We have trouble-shot the printer every which way.  They are now telling me that the airport is not communicating with my wireless printer.  Is there someone that can help me check this?

Earlier G5s had an external T antenna I believe, besides the antenna wire inside...

  • How do I connect my new MacBook Pro with my wireless printer?

New to Apple products, and can't figure out how to wirelessly connect to my printer.  I am assuming that it has that capacity....but can't find a way.  I have an HP officejet 4500 wireless printer.
    Appreciate the help.

As you will come to discover and appreciate in this new world, most common and mundane tasks have been designed to be simple, easy and, often, self-evident. But we've had to put up with Windoze's Weird Ways for way too long and have had our instinct to do things naturally blunted. Fortunately, the brain damage is curable...
    Cheers!
P.S., in time you'll come to appreciate and benefit from the Mac's minimalist design, as was the Will of Steve throughout Apple's products.

  • Printer Not Connected error with HP Wireless Printer

    Hi everyone,
Just bought an iMac, first time ever using OSX and trying to add my new HP 2540 wireless printer. I've spent 4 hours on this so far and now looking for help!
I've followed every instruction to the letter - the wireless connection with the printer is fine as I printed off a report, it will print connected via a cable and it recognises my printer in applications and I have done the set up via disc about 20 times uninstallig each time and starting from scratch again. I've downloaded the latest driver from HP.  All I get is a 'printer is not connected/printing looking for printer' endless bar when I click 'print'. It seems to be an issue of it not recogising it over the wireless connection despite it being connected to my router.
What am I doing wrong? How do I fix this?
    Many Thanks!

Connecting a printer is pretty simple if you follow Apple's process, ignore HP's guides!!
You can find Apple's instructions by clicking Mac Basics: Printing in OS X
In the event you still have trouble give AppleCare a phone call, you have 90 days of free telephone support and Apple can help resolve most issues. If you don't know the phone number in your area please click Contact Apple for support and service to locate it.
Good luck and welcome to the light side.

Installed a new wireless printer on my home network. the two desktops running XP-SP2 are fine, but it made a complete mess of my Toshiba laptop, running Windows7.
knocked out the network, disabled my wireless adaptor, turned off the wireless on the laptop and also disabled my Avast anti virus.
Got the wireless enabled on the laptop, recovered and upgraded the anti virus program and got the network connected again.
Can use Explorer, but Firefox will not launch, either from the taskbar or from Start/programs. /they are there, but will not launch.

  • IBook printing with Belkin Wireless Print Server

    Hi Guys
Ok, I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I am a windows user (groan!, get a proper computer, yes, I know. lol lol) But trying to set up a simple network consisting of three pcs, one laptop all running windows xp/vista and one IBook. Not the best on macs but can find my way round!! All works Ok as far as seeing each other on the network and communicating/internet etc. Have introduced Belkin wireless print server to network and all ok for windows regarding printing wirelessly over the network. However, the IBook I set up as IP printing and set the appropriate address in the ibook printer setup screen. But when printing from the IBook it says the print has gone but it is actually stuck in the queue and never prints. Can anyone help with what may be a simple entry in the setup or is it some black magic IBook setting that evades us windows users??
All help will be gratefully received and promise to look at conversion!!
    Thanks in anticipation of help..........

Your printer is a non-postscript printer and requires a CUPS driver in order to use the network printing protocols which are part of the CUPS system in OS X. Except for Brother, no manufacturer of non-postscript printers is providing CUPS drivers. The printer model doesn't show up because the OS X driver only works for USB. Apple tried to get around this by including open source Gimp-Print (CUPS) drivers with OS X. But very few HPs are supported. You should try HP Deskjet 900 Series, Gimp-Print driver to see if it "might" work.
For PPC Macs, there is another open source driver set that supports most HPs, including yours:
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
But, these aren't Universal binaries, so they don't work on Intel Macs. The source code is available, and I think it will readily compile on your Mac, but I don't have an Intel Mac to try that on.
Next issue - print server setup. We don't have auto-setup software, so we have to read the manual closely and decide which protocol to use. If it's IPP (=internet printing protocol, not IP printing) or LPR/LPD, you need to find the print server's queue name (sometimes called port name), and enter that in Add printer dialog near IP address.
There are other ways to do network printing. The Airport Express print server from Apple allows you to use the USB driver because it uses Airport-Bonjour software to redirect USB output, instead of using standard protocols.
    Hope this helps.

  • Any help with a wireless printer setup?

I recently got a Dell, and an wireless printer with it.  The set-up seems pretty straight forward, but I get to the point where on my printer's screen, it gives me a PIN number I am supposed to enter on the WPS page.  Problem is, I can't find anywhere on the WPS page where I can enter this number... is there an easy way to simply add another device?
    THanks in advance!

  • How do i know if my Mini will even work with a wireless printer?

I'm thinking of getting a wireless printer.  How do i know if one will even work with my old Mac Mini?
A very elementary question, cuz i'v never done anything wireless before.
I guess i would follow the instructions of whichever printer brand i get.
But can you direct me to whatever Apple explanations there might be.
    Thanky u.
It will be nice to get rid of all these wires, if i can.

Thanky.  Yo guessed correctly,  it is a MacMini 2.1.
    My next Q for you:
How do i change my rating of your answer?
    I graded it as Helpful.
But i see no obvious way to change it to the Solution.

  • Connecting with a Wireless Printer on Home Hub 3.

How do I get a XP Notebook to connect with the HP Photosmart 6510 connected wirelessly to my BT Home Hub 3.
My Network Places shows BT Home Hub 3.
Double click on HH3 and scrolling down to My Home Network.
You can see HPFE0AAB under wireless network, which is the HP Photosmart 6510.
According to the Photosmart it’s url is 192.168.7.71 and it is correctly connected to the hub.
The XP Notebook does have the relevant basic printing drivers installed for the Photosmart.
Perhaps I should add that I gave up trying to connect the Windows 8 Desktop to the printer wirelessly and used a USB instead. I’m not sure if the problem is with the set up of the Notebook or the Hub. I have tried turning off firewalls which so far seems to make no difference. I am running MSE on the Notebook and Defender on the Desk Top.
I've tried so many approaches I'mgoing round in circles.

Here are the GENERAL steps on how to add a wireless printer on your wireless network.
As you have said that it is already connected and visible to the network it is a case of checking the settings below then if ok go to “adding printer to your networked computer” section
The wireless printer must have a static (i.e., manual) IP address assigned to it from your network IP address range. It cannot be DHCP enabled, otherwise every time DHCP assigns a new address, your printer port will stop working.
How to set a manual IP address on your printer:
When the printer is connected to the network the first time, the router will assign an IP address to it. To get the IP address that the printer was assigned, find the printer on your network and right click on it. It will bring up a properties box. The IP address for the printer will be found somewhere in there.
Using an Internet browser, type the IP address of the printer into the address line of the browser and press enter. It should bring up a printer configuration window.
Now, since each printer is different, I can't give you the exact steps, HOWEVER, here's what you are looking for:
Find a Network - TCP/IP configuration menu. Somewhere in that menu, it will give you the choice of setting a manual or static IP address versus a DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) assigned address.
You want to manually set the IP address to the address given on the configuration page. This would normally be 192.168.1.xx. The subnet mask will normally be 255.255.255.0 and the gateway will normally be the IP of the router, usually 192.168.1.254
Once the IP address is assigned permanently to the printer as a static address, you are now ready to add the printer to each computer on your network.
Add the Printer to Your Networked Computers
In Windows XP, follow these steps to add the wireless printer to your computer:
Go to Start, Printers and Faxes.
    Double click on Add Printer
    Click Next.
On the Local or Network Printer dialog box, choose Local Printer and UNCHECK the box that says "Automatically detect" the printer. Click Next.
On the Select a Printer Port window, choose to Create a New Port, and then under Type of Port, choose Standard TCP/IP port. Click Next.
Make sure the printer is On and Ready, and connected to the network. Click Next.
Type in the static IP address of the printer that you set in the steps above. Click Next.
It will then try to connect to that IP address. It you typed it wrong, or the printer is off, it will come back and give you an error.
If all is well, it should then ask you for the printer driver. Either set it to find the driver that you have previously installed or insert the CD for the printer, and find the Windows XP version of the driver.
Then choose the driver you want to install.
Click Next. It will install the driver and ask you to name the printer.
When it is done, click Finish. (You can choose to print a test page if you want).
    Hope this helps.

  • Can the jetpack be used with a wireless printer?

I bought a jetpack and connected it with my laptop, works fine. How do I use my wireless printer? I have a router currently connected to my internet provider but will drop that provider in a couple of days. I would like to continue using my router as my "home" printing device. How do I make that work?

Personally, I can recommend the BoxWave. However, this might help: http://www.imedicalapps.com/2011/02/ipad-stylus-review-best-handwriting-touch-sc reen/

  • Is the time capsule compatible with a wireless printer

I am trying to use my HP wireless printer with the time capsule. It is not working. Is it compatible?

    Yes, it should be ok..
BUT the rest of the WORLD speaks SMB.. as in fact does iOS.. and so you need to make things look nice to SMB.. in other words windows type networking.
By default the TC seems to end up with names which are wrong..
Use short names with no apostrophe.. or any other special character.. pure alphanumeric.. no spaces..
Passwords also .. nothing more than 20 characters.. names do not need to be long, 8-12 pure alphanumeric is plenty.
eg I name my TC.. TC
    Name 2.4ghz wireless, TC24ghz
Name 5ghz wireless TC5ghz (I recommend this to keep them separate and prevent auto swapping)
Lock the channel (This is optional but I find helps stability.. mainly for 2.4ghz.. there are three channels.. 1, 6, 11) Try each channel in turn.
Plug the printer into the computer by usb and run through the setup.
Put the wireless into infrastructure mode and put in the wireless name and security settings and passkey.
Complete the printer setup wizard and then disconnect the usb.. it might well be a good idea to restart everything.. Make sure the printer is in a position where there is good wireless signal.
Now what I found happens is the printer driver is confused by the fact you had it plugged in by usb. So see if the printer is accessible now.. if not delete the printer and start again.. it should pick it up now as a network printer.
I don't know what model printer you have so to get all the specifics right read the instructions.. You know that old saying.. when all else fails.. and after you post on the forum.. actually read the instructions.

  • Two issues with HP5514 wireless printer

I have 2 issues that I've had since I installed the Photosmart 5514 a year ago...
I get giberesh on my printouts.  Seems to be narrowed down to sending a 2nd doc to the printer while it is printing the first doc.  When it gets the 2nd doc, the first starts printing giberesh and the next docs are all giberesh.  Power cycle the printer to clear.
The 2nd issue started in the PC after the printer software was intalled.  Outlook 2007 will stop loading pictures from the web in my emails.  If I kill the hpnetworkcommunicator.exe tasks in task manager, they will start loading.  Then when I want to print to the 5514, I have to reboot the pc.  The PC is an HP D530 with XP.
I have allowed the updates when the popup says there are updates.
The issues make me limit my use of the 5514 and keep using the older other brand printer.

As i understand, you have a NETGEAR firewall (with DHCP on) and two Linksys routers working as APs. As far as connectivity for internet is concerned, IP address settings as you mentioned for all the three devices is absolutly correct. You didnt mentioned the physical connectivity of 2nd router. Basically, if DHCP is disabled on both Linksys routers then you can either connect both routers to NG firewall (LAN to LAN) or connect first router to NG firewall (LAN to LAN) and 2nd Linksys router to the first router (LAN to LAN).
For the wireless connectivity, you can either keep same SSID or different SSID on both routers, both settings would work since they all the three devices are physically connected and have a single default gateway i.e. NG firewall. However, i would recommend to keep the same SSID on both linksys routers for seamless wireless connectivity.
And last as you mentioned regarding the network name that you cannot see for the first router.
You can upgarde the firmware of the router
And try to change the wireless channel to 6 , 9 or 11 and then try to view the wireless network.
