Win 8 X64 can't read full ram

I have the probook 6470b, with core i5-3230 4GB Ram.
OS win 8 pro X64
windows read only 3.88 ram, appreciate your support as i need to upgrade Ram to 8GB.
Thanks.

Based on what you report to be the installed operating system type, there won't be a problem upgrading to 8 GB. Yours will accept and support up to 16GB. The image below is from the Maintenence & Service guide for your notebook.
The following image is from my current HP product loan Envy17-3002ea notebook.

  • IE10, Reader XI, Win 7 x64 - can't read pdf files in browser

    Hi,
As the title says, am using Reader XI, IE 10, Win7 x64.
Every time I click a hyperlinked pdf, I get a new tab and a black x in the top left corner.
Astonishingly this behaviour persists if I disable the pdf reader add-ons (i.e. pdf's are not launched in a stand-alone reader!_
Here's the catalog of things I have tried:
    1. Reinstalling Reader XI.
    2. Uninstalling Reader XI, installing Acrobat Pro XI (same result).
    3. Disabling all non-Adobe add-ins
    4. Disabling all adobe add-ins to force pdf launch outside of browser (didn't work).
    5. Going into Preferenced in Reader to stop browser loading of pdf's -- the option has been removed from XI.
    6. Following all registry checks in the Adobe Q&A.
    7. Toggling "do not save encrypted pages to disk" in IE10
    8. Toggling "protected Mode option" in IE 10.
    9. Toggling "Show Pictures" check box in IE10.
I've run out of ideas! H-E-L-P. If you can't assist with the root problem, perhaps directing me on how to allow pdf's to launch outside of teh browser -- would be great!

    Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, with the same way of solutions.
But nothing realy helps, I still have the problem...
    Do you have any news?

  • Windows 7 x64 can't read/install any printer drivers from Windows Server 2003 x64 (AMD64 folder and HP Deskjet 855c)

I read the thread Widows 7 printer
HP deskjet 855c driver about possible installation of HP855c drivers onto Windows 7 x64 from "Windows Server 2003 x64" CD but I didn't have enough luck to succeed with doing it on my laptop. That thread appears to be dead now
as it is marked "Answered", so I'm asking for help here. I have Toshiba Satellite P500 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (http://i55.tinypic.com/2zgth6v.jpg).
Let me tell you first that I don't have access to Windows Server 2003 x64 or XP Pro 64 CD's. However I did some research online, which eventually forced me to learn about the "file sharing". After extensive search I was able to get the copies
of AMD64 folders from Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 with SP2 and
XP Pro 64. The reason that I went also after XP Pro was because I thought that the extra wording "R2 Standard x64 with SP2" in description of "Windows Server 2003" did not reflect the exact name provided by poster
Alan. I couldn't find just "Windows Server 2003 x64" (does it matter?).
Anyway, I followed first the drill with running "printui /s /t2" and disabling UAC, and then in both cases I was able to locate the
NTPRINT.INF file (http://oi51.tinypic.com/9qwvt2.jpg - this image is from XP Pro AMD64 folder) but each time when I
attempted to install the driver, I got the same message stating:
"The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software drive for your device. If the folder contains the driver, make sure it's designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems." (http://oi53.tinypic.com/27yveiw.jpg)
    Why aren't there x64 drivers?
During several installation attempts I had the printer connected to or disconnected from my laptop. It didn't make any difference. I must add that for this purpose I had to use different cable than the original one designated only for the
Parallel port in my old desktop with Windows XP. My new laptop with Windows 7 x64 came only with 3 USB ports (plus 1 HDMI and 1 Serial). Because of that situation I bought in advance a new printer cable called “USB to 36-pin Parallel Port Adapter
Cable” (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003A8I75E). I'm not sure, if it will work until I can install the printer.
Besides, nobody talked about this issue yet. I was also playing with the port choices in "Add printer" step; changing from default LPT1 to USB001 with the same negative results.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I was very hopeful after reading positive "case closed" notes there.
Can anyone help me here, maybe by making the necessary files available for download? I'm willing to pay for such assistance or make a donation, if necessary. Seriously. Judging by the large number of views of the original
thread, one could assume that there is a potential demand for such service. It would be more human to pay few bucks for a few driver files than $900 for the whole Windows Server 2003 x64 CD, no? Can Microsoft accomodate me/us, please? :)

P.S. I was advised to come for help here from
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/windows-7-x64-cant-readinstall-any-printer-drivers/4e7d06e1-33a5-4597-be70-4fdc087a63a7?msgId=9a045994-0d31-4d40-b17d-dba372393ee4

I have my HP 855c/driver working on Win 7 Ultimate x64. I used the 'printui /s' procedure and 4 files described above with some minor changes.
I pulled WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB914961-SP2-x64-ENU.exe down from the Microsoft website. Running the file causes the exe to unpack into a temp folder at the root drive. A 'Setup Error' message box is displayed once the file is run. I left this
message box up until I copied ntprint.inf, ntprint.cat, and sp2.cab from the temp folder.
I copied driver.cab from a Windows XP Pro disc. I also needed amd64\stdnames.gpd which was already in my Windows 7 c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 folder.
I created a folder with the 5 files (ntprint.inf, ntprint.cat, sp2.cab, driver.cab, and amd64\stdnames.gpd). This is my 'Have Disc' folder.
I followed the 'printui /s' instructions, first changing the permissions mentioned above and then installing the driver. Next I followed the instructions to add a printer from Control Panel 'Devices and Printers' - 'Add Printer', choosing to 'use an existing
driver' when installing the HP 855c.
I used a slightly different ntprint.inf, size 1570418. The readable contents of ntprint.inf is as follows. Notice the line 'CatalogFile=ntprint.cat' is not included. I tried using the 1570468 version of ntprint.inf; when I did I received an incompatibility
message (probably the same one mentioned above).

  • Can't read full podcast name

Is there any way to view the full name of a podcast episode or somehow make it line rap or show up in a second window by tapping on something? I subscribe to a podcase that has a really long series name along with fairly long episode names. From the iPod on my new iPhone it's nearly impossible to read the name well enough to distinguish between different episodes.

the only way i have found, and it doesn't help much, is to start playing the podcast then goto now playing then flip the iphone horizontally... in coverflow it lists the whole thing at the bottom

  • Samsung Gusto - can't read full texts!

Hi, I bought the samsung gusto yesterday and after putting money on it and everything I found that I could not receive full texts! My boyfriend would send me a long text and only about three words or so appear on the phone. There's nothing to scroll of anything. When I received texts about signing up for a My Verizon account, however, the full text came in. Any reason why?
His phone is a blackberry and I recieved his texts great on my blackberry, so I don't think its a problem on his end.
    Thanks!

        Hey there wilcyn92,
Texting is how I mainly communicate with others, so I'd be just as concerned if mine wasn't working correctly.
That is odd that you're not receiving full texts.  Is the problem just with your boyfriend or other users as well?

  • Can you allow users to view a calendar without granting "Read - Full Details"?

    Outlook 2007, Exchange 2010
We would like users to be able to view Room calendars side by side in Outlook. Its fine if they can see basic details (subject, organizer), but we don't want them able open and read the meeting body.
Is it possible to have a side by side view without granting "Read - Full Details"?
    David.

    Hi David,
In Outlook 2007, "Free/Busy time, subject, location" permission only applies when checking the user's free/busy information and not when looking in another user's Calendar folder. In Outlook 2007, if you want to let the calendars be shown side
by side, you need to grant the user Folder Visible permission. But in this way, the user can read meeting details.
For more information, here is a blog for your reference.

I posted the question because of some problem of user to read the web page with dcr.
You assumed right, it is e dcr hosted in a browser page and viewed via shockwave with safari.
I don't know the nature of the problem but the user get an error.
Maybe I must decide to buy a mac and do some test.

Downloaded a book but can only see it on ipad, can't read it on PC because of DRM. How do I read it on the Win 7 PC?
Is this a lost cause thanks to good old Digital Rights Management? My PC is already "authorized" according to iTunes.

Found this same thing on other discussions. Apparently you don't read DRM iBooks on anything but the iPad you purchased it with.

  • DVD can't read or use 64 bit Win 7 install

I just upgraded to a late 2012 Mac Mini and wanted to install Boot Camp.  With this model and OS version, I only have Boot Camp 5 which requires 64 bit WIndows.  This model should support that.  But the Mac doesn't seem to recognize the 64-bit DVD when I put it in, and trying to boot with it gives a message to the effect of "operating system not found" or "installer disk not found" or some indication that the DVD is not bootable.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?  I actually have two copies of WIndows 7 on DVD, and in both copies, the 32 bit DVD can be read but the 64 bit can not.  And since Boot Camp 5 doesn't even support 32-bit installations, I can't even use that as a fallback position.  Any ideas?

Update:  Found a workaround to this.  Basically when I was actually in Mountain Lion and when trying to directly boot from DVD, the disk wasn't being recognized as a valid bootable volume.
Then I tried rebooting and holding down the Option key for a list of bootable devices.  One of them was a DVD called "Windows" and using the boot menu to launch the install worked.  For some reason I was unable to directly recognize this as a valid, bootable device...

  • Thinkpad's and N100's w/ 945PM chipset can't address 3G Ram but Dell Can

Since I am a programmer, I am particularly interested in having the maximum amount of Ram available under 32 bit Windows.
Unfortunately,  I have to buy a T61p to enable me to use 4GB.
From a reply to a NoteBook review Forum:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/archive/index.php/t-136639.html
At work, we have both Dell XPS and IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad laptops. We choose the T60 models for their compactness/weight and reliability, while we choose the XPS M1710 and M2010 for their 17 and 20-inch screens and somewhat faster graphics chips. The ThinkPad T60 computers have problems accessing over 3GB RAM, and that is NOT because of the chipset or the OS that we use, but, it is only because of the incompetent designers/engineers at IBM or Lenovo; let me explain:
We have tried to install both 32-bit and 64-bit version of Vista, Windows Server 2003 R2 STD, Win XP and different dists of LINUX on T60, T60p, Z61, Z61p, Z61m, (X60 and T43) and Lenovo 3000 series, but they simply can NOT access memory over 3GB (X60 and T43 can not support that since their chipset seem to have accessing issues over the magic 3GB, but we tried anyway)
We also tried the same thing on Dell XPS M1710 and M2010, and they could access almost the ENTIRE 4 GB installed even with 32-bit version of Windows Vista (BTW, 32-bit Vista can access 16 GB RAM with the right chipset so...). Of course, now you can guess that it was no problem with the 64-bit version of the OS:es we tried.
The Dell XPS M1710 and M2010 use exactly the same chipset found in T60 and Z60 series (Mobile Intel 945PM Express Chipset). In December 2006, we even opened a T60p (model 2007 8JG) and compared the chipset with the Dell XPS M1710, and well, I suppose that you have already guessed that it was the same chipset in both machines.
Honestly, I hoped that we would find the Mobile Intel 945 GM or GMS chipset in the T60 laptops (those chipsets seem to have this 3GB limit), since we had a BIG argue with the support guys at Lenovo, and they came with totally silly answers why the computers can not access over 3GB RAM. They even asked me what I need 4GB RAM for!! Can you imagine that?! You can ask ANY programmer/developer who works with virtual machines (both VPC and VMWare or even Parallels) and everyone will tell you that you can not have too much RAM!!! And it IS A BIG difference between 3GB and 4GB. However...
Now, we have heard rumors that HP NX94xx also can access 4GB RAM installed, but I can not confirm it myself, since I have not seen it myself.
And now, regarding to your post about mixing 2GB SO-DIMM with 1GB SO-DIMM, I would not recommend it. The 2GB SO-DIMM memory modules are pretty cheap now, and besides, you will lose a lot of speed mixing 2GB with 1GB memory modules. Just try different benchmarking programs and you will see. If you want to see quick results without a lot of installations, try Memtest86+
However, I think that it is very rotten that IBM/Lenovo does not care about their customers and lets a lot of incompetent technicians answer the phone. I have tried to come in contact with higher bosses and engineers, but they are simply unavailable. But it must be a way that we customers can make them hear us.. I only do not know how! :-/
And so, here ends my first (and long) post in here!
From the thinkpad forum, there is another confirmation, but the author is not aware that Dell did a better job with the P chipset:
T60/T61/p memory limitations -- the definitive answer [pics]
    http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=49703
update 10/25/2007:   now includes T60/p information.
    T60 and T60p:
the T60 and T60p are based off of the intel socket M processors.   no matter how much memory you install in these thinkpads, only 3GB will be addressable regardless of operating system used.   this is a physical limitation and there is absolutely no workaround.   if you have a T60/p then installing 4GB total system memory is a waste.   save your money, stop at 3GB, and put the savings either in the bank or toward a T61/p if you want 4GB.
    quoted from official lenovo documentation:
Quote: Maximum memory capacity may require the replacement of standard component with largest supported component available. On ThinkPad systems with an Intel 945GM, 945PM, GM965, or PM965 chipset, even though it is possible to physically install 4GB of memory, the actual amount of memory addressable by an operating system will be limited to 3GB. This limitation does not exist with the Intel GM965 and PM965 with the 64-bit operating systems Windows XP Professional 64-bit and Windows Vista 64-bit Editions.
the key point to take away from this quote:   the T60 and T60p are based off of the 945GM and 945PM chipsets and therefore fall under the 3GB physical limitation as stated above.   even with 4GB total system memory and a capable OS, you still can't see or use more 3GB no matter what you do.
    T61 and T61p:
the T61 and T61p are based off of the intel socket P processors.   these systems are capable of using up to 4GB total system memory as long as you use the proper OS.   below are the results from the four most popular microsoft OSes tested on my T61p.

i wrote the article over at TPF regarding T60/1/p memory limitations.
while i've read that certain dell models can supposedly access all 4GB, i have yet to see definitive proof backing this up.   from my understanding, dell wrote their BIOSes to report the maximum installed memory but the systems still cannot utilize more than 3GB regardless of what is reported.   dell is the only manufacturer with a 945-based system which claims to use all 4GB so it leads me to think that something fishy is going on.   if the 945 could use more than 3GB then you'd think lenovo, apple, HP, etc. would have been able to pull it off as well.
before buying my T61p i performed weeks of research on the subject of 3GB/4GB limitations in chipsets.   i have yet to find definitive evidence showing that a merom-based system can truly access more than 3GB because of the chipset's lack of memory hoisting capability.   santa rosa seems to be the first mobile chipset supporting memory hoisting (which is necessary for moving memory addresses above the 4GB mark so that all 4GB of physical memory can be addressed by the OS).
the simple solution is to buy a T61p.   while the T60p did have optional IPS displays, the T61/p is better in absolutely every aspect except display quality.   i've had my hands on numerous T60/p systems of friends/family/colleagues and wouldn't trade my T61p for any of them.   my next upgrade won't happen until intel makes a mobile chipset able to address 8GB+ system memory (which santa rosa very well may be able to do but we won't know for sure until 4GB SODIMMs are released for public consumption).

  • JAVA_HOME space win x64

Okay the problem is famous :  on win x64 java is not recognized if  set JAVA_HOME = C:\Program Files\1\Java\jdk1.8.0_25 neither if set JAVA_HOME ="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_25"  and neither JAVA_HOME ="C:\Progra~1\Java\jdk1.8.0_25"   despite a tons of web pages that indicate to use this last setting (Maven: tricky JAVA_HOME setting | Xinotes ) .
Then what is the solutions ? maybe the unique solution is to install java in a folder without space ?

If you are suggesting that when you type "java" at the command line it doesn't work regardless of how you set JAVA_HOME then the solution to that is simple (and true for all versions of windows)...use the environment variable "PATH" instead.
You can use JAVA_HOME from a 3rd party app that wants the location of a java VM.  (There are problems with that for serious applications because they would not normally run with any arbitrary VM but only the ones they are tested for.)

    Hi Pwillener,
I am so glad to hear from you.  I wanted a trusted source for a download.  I saw something online "Oldapps.com" or a name like it and you click and it just starts downloading and I got nervous so I got out of it.  I like to see what I'm downloading.

Do you know if the Norton Anti-Virus is unchecked in your link?  I will await further word from you before doing the downloading.
Thank you so much.  I imagine that this 11.0.10 will be the last one that can be downloaded to a Windows XP computer.

  • Can I use 4GB RAM on my MSI K8N Diamond with Windows 7?

Can I use 4GB RAM on my MSI K8N Diamond with Windows 7? I have put 4GB DDR 1 in my motherboard but windows 7 says (2.75GB usable)...
    Regards, Jay

It depends highly on how much hardware (add-in cards) you have installed. If you have two VGA-cards, then it's likely that usable memory stays below 3GB. If you take some hardware out, you will see the usable memory increase a bit, but you won't reach the full 4GB. It will go as far as about 3.25 or so.
