Win VM loses connectivity to network after CPU spike to 100%

Hello,
I am continuously facing issue with this WIN 2012/SQL VM going off the network on ESXi 5.5,
on 2 instance I notice CPU usage was at 100% and high network usage and it lost the connection.
Event viewer error: The Data Management Gateway Host Service service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: Restart the service.
I can see similar hotfix for win 2008R2: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974909
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Which process occupies the most CPU time? If a process holds up system resources for an undetermined length of time, the system may hang.
Have you tried to reboot the VM?
Is there any error or warning raised in ESXi? Have you consult vmware technical support about this issue? It may be a hypervisor issue.
Here is an article related to the event viewer error,

Hope this helps.

  • I lose connection with network whenever put MacBook Pro to sleep or reboot. Lost network configuration. Have to use diagnostics to relocate and reconnect. What is the fix?

I lose connection with network (router: Airport Extreme, latest firmware) whenever MacBook Pro put to sleep. Have to use diagnostics to reconnect. Tells me network configurations have changed, then reconnects me to network. What is the fix?

Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

HTF do i get my iPhone to connect to network after iOS7 upgrade?  Upgrade?  Really?   I'm just really upset that I have to continually make concessions to someone else and my product does NOT work the way it should, and has done in the past!!!!

Depends on your browser and it may appear in your downloads folder to run.  If you are using IE, it will appear on the bottom of the screen, Google Chrome, bottom of the screen, Firefox, top of the screen with an big arrow

  • Computer not connecting to network after a good nites sleep

My computer will frequently (once every other day) not automatticallly reconnect to my network after waking from sleep in the morning. I have all the security options enabled, tried changing the interference robustness on and off and it seems to make no diff, reduced the network range to reduce interference from the 3 other wlan networks around, and changed the channels around. It didnt do it in my house. I realized that when I put the cpu to sleep at night, I leave iTunes running. Well, in a dorm, there is alot of shared music going. I tried quitting iTunes, putting the computer to sleep, and waking it up and it reconnects every time. when i leave itunes on and repeat the test, I have to connect manually by using the drop down menu (which i hate) and sometimes it will say "error joining network" a few times before connecting. I havent thouroughly tested this, but is it possible that the sharing feature of itunes is somehow interfering w/ the airport connection? Maybe it is looking for shared networks before the network connects and prevents it connecting somehow? If this is the case, I dont mind quitting itunes every night as long as I dont have to screw with the internet connection every morning.

I know you don't have any replies posted here, but has anyone given you or have you found the answer?
We have the same problem with our airport extreme. My son listens to iTunes at night too. Sometimes the next morning with or without the iTunes running at night - suddenly my network is gone. I have to go back in and re set some stuff. Our AE is not even 2 mos old and it really has been problematic.
When we first got the AE set up this strange network appeared. We didn't recognize it from anywhere and it wasn't the AE's address. Every once in awhile it shows up. There are times when we think it might be our neighbor's wireless connection, but who knows?
Then the other night my son was on AIM and MIM chatting when suddenly the connection was dropped. He tried to sign back on but everything was gone. A strange new network name appeared (this time it looks like the AE created a new network and name based on it's address) and we could not sign back on to the internet. This all happened in the space of 2-3 minutes. All my efforts and re-sets have failed. My husband uses the AE as a router and plugs his PC into the LAN port to connect to the internet (of course the wireless portion then no longer functions thereafter). Well, now he can not even sign onto the internet.
I have put at least 6+ hours into trying to figure this out. i guess I'll have to give up and try Apple support since it is still basically new. Last time I called Apple Support, it sure seemed like I was able to guide/help myself more than the joker csr I happened to dial into.
Anyone else have this problem? Did you eventually fiz it?

  • HP software loses connection to printer after a few hours

I have been having this problem since I bought my HP Deskjet 3052A a few months ago.  There is a program in my Startup folder called "Monitor Ink Alerts - HP Deskjet 3050A J611 Series (Network)."  It works fine when I start up my PC, but invariably after a few hours, I will get a message (and an icon in the system tray) saying that it has lost connection to the printer (I do not have the exact message at this time).  The message also says that wireless scanning is not available.  At that point, my PC will not print to the printer, although wireless devices using HP ePrint still are able to print.  Restarting the PC will fix the error.  I have set the printer up with a static IP address to try and fix the issue, but it continues to reoccur.
My PC is a Dell Dimension E520 running Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 3.  It is connected via network cable to my Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router model WNDR3700.  The printer is connected via wireless to the same router.

I too have this problem and for no apparent reason.  The only thing I can link it to is, if I print a letter and then go into mail merge to print the envelope it allows me to print the envelope(s) but then loses the wireless connection when I go back into trying to print letters.
It really is a pain because I have to stop what I am doing and spend time going through the set up procedure again. Not difficult (except for the faff of having to take the printer to the pc and connecting the USB again) but time consuming and very disruptive to my working day.
I have another problem with printing a document and getting gobblygook, but that's for another thread and I will search for this.

  • Have to manually connect to network after each restart?

When I turned my PB on it would always automatically connect to my home wireless network (after I'd entered the password etc. of course). But now I have to manually select the network everytime I turn it on - I've played with a few settings to no avail and this problem does not occur with other networks that I've joined (at my folks for example). It's not a biggie but I'm scratching my head and it's just a little frustrating. Any ideas? Cheers

    Hi,
When I put the computer to sleep... it comes back on with the network I had on before. When I shut it down and restart it, I have to select the one I want... as it can see my neighbors network and on occasion one farther away. If there is only the one, and it's yours with the known password, there is one choice. My daughter brings her laptop over to use my Hi-Speed, and the first time I put in the password... now it goes to it all by itself when she is here, if the neighbors is not on, it's automatic. Otherwise, she too has to select which network she wants to join.
Fewer options are better, otherwise too many choices and you have to tell the Mac what you want today.
    Enjoy

  • IPhone won't connect to networks after 3.0 software upgrade

    Hi,
It was always fine, but following the 3.0 software upgrade, it won't connect to networks. I've used the 'forgotten' function and inputted the details again - didn't work. I've also reset all network settings, then started from scratch. But I'm still getting the "unable to join networks" message.
My friends are all having this problem after the 3.0 upgrade too.
I'm in the UK, using a WPA2 connection. Nothing has changed about my network settings since upgrading the phone.
    Any help appreciated.

You said that all your friends were having the same problem, implying that it might be general to the UK. I thought, and still do, that it was worth pointing out that it isn't general to the UK. Sorry you feel aggrieved by that.
I mad a suggestion that might help. You haven't said whether you tried it or not. I assume you did and it didn't work. Sorry about that too.
Try a restore. If that doesn't work for you or any of your friends, take the phones back and get replacements.

  • YouView box does not re-connect to network after l...

My youview box does not re-connect to the network after the home hub has dropped out. The original message I put in regarding this was moved to the BT Infinity Speed/Connection Issues forum but I still think this is an issue here. Is connectivity still an issue with the youview box or am I facing a problem? I have to restart youview whenever there has been an issue. I'd like not to have to do that. It should realise (several hours after the hub has restarted) that the network is present and use it.

You should be able to just go into settings and redetect the network - try this before performing a full power off
Tried successfully. Don't know why I never tried it before. It's a lot easier than rebooting the box
Get used to doing it on a regular basis especially as the HH5 reboots at least every 30 days

  • Client Macs lose connection to server after Sleep

Ok, so my previous issues with disk I/O erroros with contacts/Mail etc appears to be resolved after I re-installed ML Server and ML clients on all my macs -- not entirely sure why but now I have new problem where client macs lose connection to the server after sleep
So my current setup is as follows:
    Server Mac
Mac Mini Server running ML 10.8.2 Server
    Client Macs
    2 x MBAs with 10.8.2 (Core2Duo & iCore5)
    1 x Mac Mini running 10.8.2 (Core2Due, 4GB 2.4 Ghz etc)
    Issue:
If I leave the client Mini logged in say, as me and either the mini goes to sleep (or if I put it to sleep) and then I wake the mini up, I appear to lose connection to the server - so whilst I am still logged in as me, I've lost my connection to my home directory e.g. Doc/Music/Pics (I can see instantly my desktop picture defaults to ML galaxy picture, opposed to something I've chosen) folders are no longer present. So obviously as mailbox, iphoto & itunes libraries are missing, Mail, iPhoto & iTunes fail to operate and I my only course of action is to log out and log back in and everything is fine.
I get the same issue - although not as frequent - on MBA's when you close it and results in having to log out and in again to resolve the issue. I also saw the same problem when it was running Lion as well.
A couple of things to note:
      - Server Mini is never asleep and is running 24x7 (as its a media streamer as well)
      - Its only occured when in deep sleep -  so if I wake the mac up after a few seconds of sleep, its just fine but if say I leave it overnight and wake it in the morning, its no longer connected.
Any pointers will be welcome and given that it appear to have occured on a client Mac with Lion as well, it would imply its an issue with the server rather the individual client Macs. Also note, I don;t recall the problem when running Lion Server.
    Thanks
    Rob

Have you tried looking at the server logs, particularly the 'System' & 'Open Directory' log sets?
    Anything seen in there?
Also logs on the client machines using the Console app. It's a bit tedious going though logs but they can be very illuminating.

  • Java 1.4.2 version CPU spike to 100%, require tools to monitor CPU spike

    Hi,
When using our application CPU is spiked to 100% (Suspecting memory leak here). The Java version used is Java 1.4.2_04. This CPU spike is seen only when more users are logged in (may be around 25 users and more).
Any tools to monitor the CPU spike (other than perfmon) ? How to nail down the memory leak issue or CPU spike in code perspective.
Please suggest some tools to do monitoring as well..
    Thanks in Advance.

It's quite heard to create a memory leak with Java (except from creating objects in a loop or something like that). Perhaps it's only the garbage collector? If you have a memory leak you don't only get a CPU spike, but the VM will exit if the heap space is full.
I used JProfiler before and it's really good.

  • CPU spikes to 100% with Safari/Firefox

First let me start off by saying I am a former PC guy that has come over from the dark side! ... (only took 20 years)
I inherited a Powerbook G4 from my wife (graphic artist) a few months ago and while she was using it we experienced no noticeable trouble.
I am now noticing a lot of trouble especially watching online videos (mostly Youtube and Hulu). Opening activity monitor shows that it will spike to 100% (with usually 90% of this being under the 'user' category) and stay there while the browser remains open.
With 'All Processes' checked in the drop down box, the culprit is always my current web browser (I only have Firefox(v 3.0.10) and Safari(v 3.2.3) installed)
    Things I have tried:
Disabling all FF add-ons (I use FF considerably more than Safari)
    Updating Flash to v10
Since it is happening in both web browsers it leads me to believe that it is something other than a specific browser...
That being said I still consider myself a Mac noob and any help would be greatly appreciated.
The laptop also gets considerably hot... (too hot to touch) Processor temperature widget shows the temp around 55 degrees Celsius.
Thank you in advance for your help Mac Geniuses!

It's probably a combination of Flash and video decoding. Flash is not coded very efficiently on the Mac and uses more CPU than it should. On an older machine, this can tax the CPU to its limit. You can watch CPU usage spike even on Flash sites that don't use video - try it sometime.
Second, the way that current video codecs get so much quality out of so little bandwidth is by applying encoding so intensive that you need a very powerful CPU to decode it. Codecs that assume they will be running on the 2GHz dual-core CPUs of the last few years will overtax the slower single-core G4 processors of half a decade ago.
I can watch Hulu and other videos on my PowerBook G4 at standard resolution (Hulu at a low frame rate, though), but the G4 cannot handle high quality resolution playback at all.
In your case, it's important to kill off any CPU-intensive processes that don't need to be running in the background when you're trying to watch something.

  • Lose connection to router after iMac wakes up

Ok, when my iMac is waking up after it has been asleep it loses its connection to the router (grayed out). I can turn it off, turn it on, select my network but it says it cannot establish a connection to base station. Then for some reason it starts to work. The only thing I have done is installed iSight updater.
    Any ideas?
    Thx

Well, I prefer to use WEP at the behest of a neighbor who is a computer forensics specialist with the FBI. While WEP isn't all that great, it is better than nothing. I filter by MAC, use 128bit, and turn off the SSID.
Back to the issue at hand. I believe it is a problem with the the computers connection to the card. By connection I do not mean the physical connetion but the packets are not leaving the computer. Using the network utility and doing a traceroute to google.com, I can see the connection timeout to my router, even though it is connected and has great signal strength.
This issue started right after I did an iSight update. Also, this isue seems to be picking up some steam as the number of discussion on this topic is increasing.

  • Apple TV can no longer connect to network after upgrade.

I had heard that lots of people were affected with this problem with the software upgrade before this one so I deliberately waiting until this one came out before taking a chance. I was wrong.
After updating to 4.4. (3140) I can no longer connect to my network. It says there was a problem and gave the error messaged number: (5) in brackets.
I've had nothing but problems with both Apple TV's that I have owned, version 1 and this new version 2. I've a good signal from my router and I've used three different ones over the time I've had the two apple tvs.
    Anyone got any ideas.
I can't connect the apple tv directly because they are too far apart in the house. I can only connect by wifi.
There is nothing wrong with my wifi because I'm connected to it fine though my imac, iphone and ipad and laptop, (not all at the same time)

Ok, here's a solution, courtesy of our friends at AppleCare.
Unplug the router for 90 seconds.
I was running ATV2 with a Time Capsule.   The TC thought the ATV was still connected using its former IP address so wouldn't let it reconnect with a new one.
Hope this works for anyone else with same problem.

  • Time Capsule won't connect to network after factory reset

    Hello
I have reset my time capsule back to factory settings, After this was completed the time capsule will no longer connect to my network.
When airport utility is launched the app will search for the time capsule. Then when the app is gathering information at the reading previous settings stage air port utility quits unexpectedly (There is a report, this can be attached if any one needs it)
The light on the time capsule is flashing amber.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
Im running a mac book pro with lion 10.7.3
    Cheers Dan

If you reset the Time Capsule back to Factory Default Settings, the Time Capsule is now broadcasing a default wireless signal with a name like Apple Network xxxxxxx.
Click the AirPort icon at the top of your Mac's screen and make sure that you are logged onto that network....no password is required.
    Then, open AirPort Utility.
You should see the xxxxxx number displayed in the upper left hand corner of the window when you click on Other AirPort Base Stations
Or, if you do not want to connect using wireless for the configuration, temporarily connect an Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the three LAN <-> ports on the back of the Time Capsule and then open AirPort Utility.
If you still experience issues, check to make sure that you are following Apple's instructions for the default reset in this support document:
Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ
We have also seen reports from users about difficulties with the new version of AirPort Utility.
Download and install the full feature version of AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion to see if that will work.

  • Can't connect to network after Upgrade to 7.4 on Vista

I was prompted to update to Apple Software Update for Windows 2.02
and iTunes + Quicktime (I think 7.4 something).
    Currently use iTunes 7.3.2.6
After upgrade, wireless networking won't work. It sees the wireless access point, but I can't make a connection to it.
Hardwire network port doesn't work either.
I had to remove the Apple software updates from Programs and Features and then run a System Restore in Safe Mode to get functionality of network back (System Restore in normal mode fails).
I tried to go through the process a second time, downloading iTunes from www.itunes.com but the same thing happened.

I have a new interface 'enp2s0' showing as DOWN. I guess now I know what happened to eth0
UPDATE: I found out that vm tools has been upgraded as well, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … systemd%29
