Win2000 support for GPIB-PCII/IIA

Is there a driver that allows to use the:
GPIB-PCII/IIA (rev.5)
with Win2000 or must I downgrade to win98 and use the drivers present in NI webpage.
Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You should be able to download the driver at http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/versions.htm#pc_dos. Did you find a link to the driver elsewhere that was broken?

         potentiostat not found,
Dev_poll 1 error caused error in gpib_ error _check
    32768 _0
         Dev_poll 3 error caused error in gpib_error_check
    32768 _0
         当运行M398.exe时,提示:
    ibfind board 1caused error in gpib_error_check 32768_7
        gpib.com improperly configured,
         gpib card not installed,
GSS is either not loaded or improperly installed.
    ABORTED:Error Level 1,Error Code 8

    Hello,
No, this is not possible. This "old" board isn't supported under Windows XP. Check this site for an overview: http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/versions.htm#pc

  • MAX for GPIB/PCIIA card

Why MAX 3.0 can not see GPIB/PCIIA card?
What software allow me to see it?

    Hi,
You need the NI-488.2 driver to detect the boards. MAX is just a configuration utility, the driver detects and configures the device.
You may have NI-488.2 installed, but this is an old GPIB interface, so it is not supported in the newest version of the driver. You can find the available driver version for at this page

My system is running Windows 2000, but the NI-488.2 software does not support my GPIB-PCII board under Windows 2000. Where can I find softward that will support my board under Windows 2000?

  • Is there any 32-bit driver (to work under windows98/later) for the old NEC7210 based PCII/IIA GPIB Board?

I have several NI 488.2 based PCII/IIA GPIB boards and have developed some programs with Delphi to work with them. I also have a couple of old NEC7210 based PCII/IIA GPIB (488.1) Boards and I would like to run the same programs with them but the newer drivers (I am currently using version 1.20) cannot recognize these old boards. Is there any 32-bit driver (to work under windows98/later) for the old NEC7210 based PCII/IIA GPIB Board?

    As I know, the 7210-based PCII/PCIIA cards (made in 1980's !)
are not supported for any of Windows versions. The NI documents
also write so. I guess there is no other way than upgrade to
a NAT-based PCII or newly purchase a TNT-based card such as
    PCI-GPIB.

  • PCMCIA-GPIB support for Windows 7 and 8

I understand the PCMCIA-GPIB adapters are legacy devices, however, for some of us who still have these adapters and platforms with Windows 7 or 8 on them, it would be very useful to see a supported release of NI488.2. I haven't been able to get any version of the software to work yet (I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit) with this adapter. If anyone has a workaround available, without having to install XP or using a virtual environment, please share. If NI still sells this product, then it would seem appropriate that it should be fully supported.
Current use: Data collection via Agilent IC-CAP, Silvaco UTMOST IV, and MATLAB from parameter analyzers, LCR meters, and network analyzers for on-wafer probing.

    Too bad.
It looks like they dropped support for the PCMCIA-GPIB completely with Windows 7.
The ironic thing is that they still sell this card. I would bet most people don't know that it isn't supported with Windows 7.
I wouldn't have know if I hadn't read your post.
    Very bad of NI.

need to use under win2000. card not found. any emulation or drivers available or do I have to revert back to an old win98 machine. I have several cards and this seem a poor choice for upgradability.

    Hi,
The GPIB-PCII is an obselete product. The newer drivers will not support this board. You can find the supported GPIB hardware vs OS and the appropriate driver version to use, in the following page:

    hi,
just found some old stuff i wanted to try out while getting to know
lv. gpib device works ok, although WinMe(card not happy with NT/2K)
did not assign DAK/IRQ, I changed this and it appears to be working
    with them as well.
when i tried to connect the 617 i did find a device that did respond,
but when i dl'd the 617 drivers all i get is a unknown VISA device?
anyone got any experience with this? i could not find anything on the
    subject in the lv manuals.

    ok, from the top:
I have LabView 6.0 installed, running MAX 2.0.3.6 and NI-488.2 driver
    1.60 on Windows ME.
I installed the GPIB-PCII and windows installed it at a certain IO
adress. I set the jumpers for this IO and when I then scanned for the
instrument I found 'something that I could communicate with.'
I figured the GPIB should use IRQ and DMA so I reinstalled the card
until MAX were satisfied with it using DMA and IRQ.
    I then created a ke617 folder under instr.lib and put the ke617.lib
    and dir.mnu files there.
now, in MAX, i cannot find an instrument when I scan for it, and the
    'unknown VISA resource' pops up.
I'll try to upgrade max and the NI-488-2 driver and se what happens.

  • Support for Old Vibrating Sample Magnetometers

    Hello.
I am a relative newcomer to LabView and I am trying to get some support for a few older Vibrating Sample Magnetometers (VSM) on behalf of my employer.  These machines are quite old and, although they have GPIB connectivity, I am having difficulty in being able to control them using LabView.  Although they use the IEEE-488 GPIB standard, they were built before the introduction of the Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments (SCPI), rather than the newer 488.2 standard.  As such, they work with their own proprietary commands, which are proving impossible to find.  I have a working LabView program that was written by a university student for a master's degree in physics.  However, I cannot communicate with the individual components, such as the gaussmeter, power supply, etc, using measurement and automation explorer.  They don't even respond to an "*IDN?" query without timing out, which I thought was standard.  I have tried lengthening the timeout time and tried to use drivers for similar instruments.  My question to anyone out there is, do you have the drivers or the programming manual for any of the components listed below?  The Vibrating Sample Magnetometers were built by the now defunct DMS/ADE.  The current owners of DMS/ADE can offer little support for such old equipment.  Likewise, is there something else I can try in lieu of these drivers and commands?
Devices:  1.) DMS Model 1660 VSM, 2.) DMS/ADE VSM Model 4, which includes the DMS/ADE model 32KP gaussmeter with its own GPIB port.
    Thank you for your time,
    Liam

    Hi Liam,
As per GPIB 488.2, as I already mentioned, the ibEOSchar under Ibconfig is an 8 bit value so it will take value from 0 to 255 for which 3 number width is sufficient. Measurement and Automation Explorer also works in the same way. EOS byte value under Termination Settings section of GPIB settings accepts a decimal number from 0 to 255 and it will not allow any character and also value more than 255 as its field is limited to 3 numbers and even if you enter a value more than 255, it will be automatically changes to 255.
So, As per 488.2, You cannot give both carriage return and linefeed characters together and you cannot use the same in MAX also.
Try framing your entire command with EOS as per built in LabVIEW carriage return and linefeed functions and use GPIB Write.vi to send this entire frame. It may work.
Also, I would like to see your VSM's communication manual and understand how these commands have been implemented.
Coming to IBEOS command, its easily understandable and its used to Configure the end-of-string (EOS) termination mode or character. It have low byte and high byte.
Low byte is always an 8 bit EOS character and high byte can take three forms which are A, B and C. Also High byte can have values with combination of A,B or C.
For Example, ibeos (ud, 0x140A); means, Configure the software to end reads on newline character (hex 0A) for the unit descriptor. Here high byte is a combination of A and C where as low byte is the HEX equivalent of ASCII Line feed character.

  • Error 15 Occurred at Wait for GPIB RQS

I have a VI that works well, but occasionally gives my the following error at random:
Error 15 Occurred at Wait for GPIB RQS in Instron Test Logger.vi
    Labview: Resource not Found
If I press continue my VI will usually run fine but occasionally it will give me the same error a second time.  Also the error only occurs when I first fire up my VI.  Once I dismiss the error the VI will run properly for days.

6          EABO I/O operation aborted. This error occurs when the I/O operation is aborted due to timeout, ibstop, or Device Clear.

I'm not totally familliar with the instrument you are using but I see no place in your code where you tell it to assert RQS and under what conditions you do so.  This makes some sense as if, the unit is not responding to the serial polls ??? it would eventually timeout and overflow the serial poll buffer.  Can you post a link to the 8511 programming guide?
And is it possible to use VISA instead of straight GPIB?
