Win2K and WinXP Install problems on ms6337le5

Hi,
I've had a Ms6337le5 motherboard for a while now and have been using Windows 98. I got sick of Windows 98 crashing every two seconds so i decided to go with Windows 2000 or XP, but to my surprise, both of them WILL NOT install. It says it cant read driver.cab off the cd, but the cd is brand new, i even tried a mates cd and it had the same problem.
I have the latest Bios for my mainboard (7.3) and the latest intel INF driver installed also. I actually did succeed once in getting Windows 2000 to work but then everytime i tried to access a CD my whole computer would crash.
This has been a problem for a while and i was wondering if anyone could help?
My system specs are:
Intel Tualatin 1.2ghz
512mb SDRAM
20gb Hard Drive
MS6337LE5 Mainboard
Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Gamer soundcard
Geforce 4 TI 4200
Aopen 16/48 DVD Drive
Acer 24/10/32 burner
Direct X 9b
Thanks,
Razor.

  • Primairy IDE and Windows Install Problems!

Hail all, I have had this issue the last 48 hours for the most part, but it started last monday night..
I orderd all my stuff from newegg.. I got:
    Intel 775 Socket 2.8ghz Prescott
    ECS Mobo (psh model)
    2x 512mb DDR 3200
Western Digital 80gb Hard Drive at 7.2k RPM (my only OEM item)
Chaintech GeForce 6600 GT video card
Jaht ( I think? :p ) Wireless PCI Adapter (can't have wires running in my room)
    Aspire-X Dreamer II Case
    Rosewell DVD/CD-RW combo (very cheap).
Anyways, I hooked it all in and it wouldn't give a signal to my monitor. I found out a small mount was hitting the mobo, and it was probably damaged. I got a new motherboard on Friday (which was all of my paycheck being as young as I am), the grand MSI 915P Combo. Oh, it was so shiny and awesome!
I got a signal to the monitor, and it started up. I put in a floppy for the latest BIOs and it seemed to go right. I put in my WinXP disk, and rebooted. Do do do, it starts to do that 'pre-'load Windows thing. When the little message at the bottom says "Loading Windows Setup". I am thinking "so leet  ".
When, HELLO, my first Blue Screen of Death (before I even installed Windows! I love that). It says check for Virusis (I havn't been on the internet..) and uninstall any new HDs and such. Well, that confuses me. So.. I put in my friend's very very old HD (which has tons of buggies in it BTW) and that loads fine. So I put mine back in, skim through my BIOs and I notice that the HD is the Third Master IDE, and that my CD-ROM slot is considered RAID.
    What the hell?
I am going to install the older set of BIOs for the 915P Combo from July instead of the September ones and hopefully that'll fix it.
Has anyone else had any errors like this? Thanks - Erik

you skiped the part about him buying the msi board.

  • AshTray and Bluetooth install problems

Was trying to install some old games on my ideapad S10e and somehow resorted to using AshTray custom resolution app (used with eeepc to help run certain games).. well to cut a long story short.. Dont use this app i was able to play a game (diablo2) but it changed all the default resolutions. In the end there was no way i could go back to the native resolution so i had to opt for first time pressing the F11 Recovery button.. took a little while but it did complete the process with fresh factory settings and rez back to normal. Then after that i check my device manager and it said that the bluetooth device wasnt installed. Strange cos everthing else was installed ok. I downloaded the bluetooth drivers for my S10e and clicked install.. it looked like it installed but for the life of me i still couldnt figure out why bluetooth was still yellow in device manager. Well just as i started writing this i figured it out if anyone else comes upon this problem (noob trap). Basically the BT drivers are "extracted" to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\BTW\54bl03ww and you need to run the setup.exe then it installs properly. I know im a noob but i would of thought it installed automatically like all the other device drivers. Quite impressed by the recovery mode appart from the BT hiccup it worked as good as i would expect.
oh well  Panic over S10e is back to normal

Now the email began to work again:mansurprised:
Still having problems with bluetooth handsfree device: E 75 doesnt even ask passwords when I try to connect bluetooth handsfree and cant establish connection with voice devices. Bluetooth still works fine with my laptop or other phones! Does anyone have solutions?

  • InDesign CS6 uninstall and re-install problems

Okay.  I had a project to work on for a class I'm in and wanted to open Indesign CS6 on my computer but I kept getting crash reports and the program would not open.  So.... I desided to uninstall it and re-install it figuring it is still part of my on-going cloud membership here, but now the program is not listed...so ... how do I get it back???

Hi,  Thanks for this link, but it does not help.  I was a creative cloud
member when the CS6 software first came out and so.that was how I came to
have the CS6 InDesign.  So....I have no serial number.  And yes, I do have
InDesignCC now, but I want to work on my project in a college classroom
that only has CS6 on the computers...and so I want to use it at home to
transport back and forth and without saving to CS4-level.

  • Solaris 9 and Updatemanager install problems

I recently installed the Sun Connection on a Solaris 9 setup. I had to load JDK 1.5.0_12 packages and then install the Sun Connection products.
I was able to finally see that "updatemanager" is present. It worked great. It accepted by contract information. I tried to load five security patches including a kernel patch. It worked. After the reboot however, the updatemanager GUI only reports the dialog box "unknown subcommand getdocument". While it invokes, it no longer has information. I have experimented with JAVA settings and path statements. What can I do next?
The install was downloaded from a Sun site and it says Sun Connection Update Manager v1.0.10 - 22 August 2007 from the README. What can be done to get "updatemanager" to invoke again and not abort so early in the analysis?

Are they going to put out a patch to fix what they broke?
I have the same issue. Got to love the lack of QA. At least I'm very used to it after a couple years. :-)

  • Neo2: many winxp install problems, but is this my solution?

Well I have just assembled the parts shown in my sig, except without the western digital HDD. I have only the single SATA drive connected.
I have run into some problems installing windows xp pro. I get a NTLDR message, or if I manage to get into setup from floppy boot disks I run into a problem with my sp2.cab file (i'm using a burned slipstreamed copy of win xp). But I have used this same disc to do clean installs on another machine that already had winxp on it.
But... I also downloaded the WinXP 64 bit edition Trial and used this to install and it worked perfectly. But i really dont want to use a beta release of windows.  I only installed it to see if i can get some sort of windows OS copy on to the computer.
What i want to know is,  does the fact that the winxp 64 install CD worked, confirm that my winxp sliptreamed CD is bad? (even though the CD was tested to work on different systems)
Should I try other things like adjust RAM timings, use 1 stick of RAM, set up a single drive in RAID array?
    Thanks
    Thanks

You may want to try using the ide hard drive to install windows to see if it is indeed a problem with your cd (I am assuming that you have the proper/latest drivers for your SATA controller). If it works your SATA hard drive or SATA on the mother board may be bad.
    Good luck

  • Win2k3 64 x86 and Appex instalation problems (missing OHS on companion CD)

    Oracle guys,
I do understand that Windows is not preffered OS for Oracle...but most of us Oracle people have laptops and on them Windows OS (from Win2k, Win XP, Win2k3, Win2k364...tomorrow maybe Vista).
<br><br>So we, with new 64 bit CPU, would like to use all the potential of the hardware. I do not want to describe why 2k3 is very stable and secure platform...but after Win2k this is one of the most complete OS from MS (IMHO).
<br><br>So, please give us a note what to do if we want to use Win2k3 64 server x86 version and Oracle10gR2 64 for x86 and want to develop Appex on this database.
<br><br>Missing point is OHS (it is not on companion CD)-so any suggestion what to do is appresciated (If standalone Appache is solution please let us know which version would suite best...and do we have to install "mod" parts...
    <br><br>P.S.
<br>I know that Win2k3 64 bit and Oracle WinNT32 is not recommended combination (I have some listener problems so I decided to quit this combination)...so I'm exploring Oracle 64 bit usage-but now I'm stucked!
    <br><br>P.S. II
<br><br>I have put this question on Appex group but no reply at all (some other users have joined me in questioning this). So please if this is not the right place, could you lead me where to post this topic?
    <br><br>THX!

How about installing HTTP server as Oracle Application Server 10g. Even if it is not supported it may work since this is just for development on your laptop.
Alternatively install Database XE which comes with Apex 2.1 ( but not the latest version 2.2).
I have just hit the same problem. I have installed database and companion 10 R2 10.2.0.1.0 with patch 4547918 to 10.2.0.2 on my MS WIN x86 64 bit laptop. I wanted to install Apex 2.2 on top but have no HTTP server. Thanks for pointing out the release notes.
The getting stated page of the documentation on the companion cd states you can install the following 2 installation types:
    * Oracle Database 10g Products: Includes Oracle Database Examples, natively compiled Java libraries for Oracle JVM and Oracle interMedia, and knowledge bases for Oracle Text.
    * Oracle Database 10g Companion Products: Includes Oracle HTTP Server, Oracle Workflow, and Oracle HTML DB.
But as we have found you can only install Products not Companion Products on 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Microsoft Windows(x64).

  • Itunes and quicktime install problem

I have just bought an ipod classic. went to apple.com, downloaded latest version of itunes, on the install i get an error saying some of the quicktime software is out of date to fix this problem by upgrading click 'Go there now'
    unfortunately it doesn't go anywhere!
itunes will not start because of this either, it says it has a problem and needs to close.
I have tried installing older versions of itunes,Quicktime;un-installing,re-installing,installing seperately, from different sites as well as apple, butit ends up the same.
im only running windows firewall and AVG anti virus.
can anyone help me as to why i can't install them especially Quicktime as it seems i need that for itunes and i need itunes to load the ipod!
Please help if you have any ideas, i've been trying now for 5 hours!!!!

    Try installing from here:

  • WinXP install problem (solved!), RAM problem (solved!)

Hello, this is my first post on this forum.
Yesterday I bought a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mainboard along with an Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester.
The first problem I had was with Dual DDR. I have two sticks of double sided 512MB Kingston Value PC3200 DDR, one has Infineon chips, other has ELPIDA chips. I put them in DIMM1 & DIMM2, but the pc refused to give any display on screen, the Bracket2 showed some kind of memory error.
So I removed one stick and put in DIMM3, changing to single channel mode.
(I also tried with 2 sticks of 512MB TwinMOS PC3200 with mtech chips, no display in dual DDR mode.)
After that the machine worked. I put the XP CD and formatted using NTFS. While XP was copying the first set of files to the disk, I got random file errors, telling me that the files in the harddisk are not in correct format.
Some time later I managed to install the files without any errors, but after the first reboot, I get a "Error loading operating system" or "Missing operating system" error. I tried everything I could find on this forum, from BIOS settings to removing 1 mem stick from the mobo, fixmbr, removed other drives etc. I also updated the BIOS to 1.4.
I spent 2 days trying to install Windows XP, but I can't seem to manage it.
I have a 200GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Plus PATA drive, which used to work with my old nForce2 Ultra mobo.
I checked the device table at system startup, it shows the drive as LRG, ATA 100, 200GB. My other drive is shown as LBA, ATA 100, 80GB. Would this LRG - LBA difference cause any problems?
The weirdest thing is, I have an older 20GB Quantum disk, I first tried using NTFS on it, I got the same boot errors, then I created a 4GB partition and formatted it using FAT32. Windows installed with no problems and right now I'm writing this message from the FAT32 formatted PC.
To sum my problem, I can't use Dual DDR and I wanted to know if this is a common problem (black screen). And I can't install Windows XP on my NTFS formatted drives ("missing operating system", "error loading operating system").
I'm really not used to have so many problems related to motherboards.
    Hardware:
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester
    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
Double sided 512MB Kingston Value PC3200 (Infineon) & 512MB Kingston Value PC3200 (ELPIDA)
200GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Plus PATA
80GB Seagate Barracuda ATA IV PATA
    20GB Quantum Fireball Plus LM
    128MB PowerColor Radeon 9600 XT
    Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS
    LifeView FlyVIDEO 3000 PCI TV
    52x32x52x AOpen CD-RW
    16x ASUS DRW-1604P DVD-RW
    300Watt Zalman PSU
    Thanks for your time.

    hi Tyrant,
welcome to forum , don't usually help tyrant's but wth
    1)Quote
I get a "Error loading operating system" or "Missing operating system" error
    - usually occurs when there's a non os hd in front of the system disk in the boot sequence. The default order of drive recognition is ide , sata. The bios offers a way to customise this in Advanced Bios Settings - HD Boot Order -
In this screen you should see all your Hard drives. the drive you want to boot from should be moved to the top of this list, select the drive & move it using the page up/down keys.
    2) what hdrives did you have plugged in when you installed windows originnaly
if you choose a hard drive that is lower down the drive sequence windows will install to the selected drive but will write the boot sector to the 1st drive. you can usually tell if this happens as your windows drive won't be C;\ . Best way round this is to disconnect any drives in front of the one you want unytil after windows is installed. then re-connecting.
You can check wether this is gioing to happen, with all drives connected, by entering bios Standard bios features and checking the disk order, disconnect any drives b4 the 1 you want the os on.
    3) You can download & run Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool this is a diagnostic tool that you can ,install on a floppy or cd , it will test your memory & report any errors. More info is on web site. Memory errors could have caused some of your problems. it's best to check a module at a time in slot 1.
if error free run test with both modules slot 1 & 2.
Dual channel will also not run well if the pair of modules used have different timings on the spd memory chips. download Everest, it's a good utility but specically can help provide details of your mamory. with all dram settings on auto check the Memory chipset tab to see your memory timings on auto these are from the SPD so you can identify any differences. put 1 module at a time in slot1 to get the data for your modules.
If you do find different timings manually change the dram settings in bios to that of the slowest module. This may enable you to run dual channel in slots 1& 2,
Most pps with your mobo have stability probs trying to run 2 modules in slots 1 & 3
    4) With these mobos the forum has found that a 12v supply of 24Amps is needed to ensure good stability Basic Building Tips    Quote
Typically we have noted many issues based on stability with PSU's being rated at less than 24A on the 12v rail.
Your zalman as far as i can see on the website only gives 18amps, again this can give stability issues.
    5) NTFS & XP go together like a horse & cart. when installing xp its best to get a coffee & not take the quick format option as the quick format will not isolate or correct any disk errors. Again these errors may be as aresult of memory, disk order power or any combination of the 3.
    hope this helps
    luck

  • Sound Driver and Driver Installment Problems

I have been having trouble trying to get my sound driver to work on my
MacBook Pro in Windows XP. After updating my MacBook with all it current
upgrades, I loaded up Bootcamp to install Windows XP now, I have followed
all the instructions in the guide and have succefully installed Windows XP but,
when I run Windows and start to install the Drivers from my Mac unto
Windows, close to the end I get a message that it could not finish properly.
Now, I find that all runs well except an important thing like my sound. I go
into the sounds control menue to see if there is a driver and as i suspect
nothing. I also check for my network and nothing and same for my eject
button, that doesnt work either. Please if someone can assist me on this
problem it would be much apprecitated and that way I can use my music
programs which I have not been able to use.

Your question has nothing to do with the installation of OS X. Post it in the Boot Camp discussions:

  • Patch 10 and 11 Install Problems

My application worked very successfully, using the servlet with all patches up to and including 9 using the 1.1 Jinitiator versions. I wanted to look at the time zone features and applied patch 10, and then 11. The servlet test appears to work in the new patches 10 and 11.
Using the latest 1.1 Jinitiator in either patch 10 and 11, I get "92102 - Negative or zero content-length" when starting the application. Does anyone know what this means, and/or what cures the problem?
Using the 1.3 JInitiator, I get "frm-92150 Web Client Version too New" I have not seen this one before either and scant reference to it - only on Solaris - with solutions not applicable to Windows 2000. Again any ideas are welcome.
    Many thanks,

It's worth clearing the JInitator Cache to try and get rid of the Client too New message. The other error is due to a problem in the contents of the HTTP header - We've only seen that with IE on Mac and the Apple MRJ in the past - double check that you are using the correct Jinit 1.1 version for those patches.
If clearing the cache does not fix the client too new then try with one of the other JARS e.g f60all rather than f60all_jinit. It may be that the JARs are out of sync with the Server - for instance if something had one of the JARs open when you installed so it was not overwritten with the new version.

  • Wireless Mouse and Keyboard Install Problem

I am trying to install my wireless keyboard and mouse onto my Mac OS X 10.3.9. My dad had this computer before me and had the mouse and keyboard paired and working. After it was shipped to me, I attempted to pair these again with no luck. THe bluetooth won't recognize either and if i try and run the KeyboardandMouse.pkg as instructed, the icon simply isn't there when I insert the disk. I've attempted to pair using the system preferences, but it cannot locate either the keyboard and mouse. Yes, I do have new batteries installed and the lights do blink when switched on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello again:
Try trashing the BT preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restarting.
If that does not work (although it will take you a bit of time), I think I would try an archive and install:

  • 4th Gen iPod and WinXP SP1 Problem

I could not find the answer for this on the support page, and sorry in advanced if it has been asked before. I've had my 4th gen click wheel iPod since last November and it has always been wroking fine for me, until today, when I decided it was time to update the firmware. I decided to do a restore to clean off all the songs before starting (since I have them all on my HD anyway). But when restoring it with the updater, it just went for about 10 seconds, and then said it could not continue. I tried it again and still the same thing. Now i am getting the folder with the exclamation mark icon. The updater restore keeps failing and I don't know what to do

I was having the same problem with facetime just now and found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHBlxlSnlAQ
It says to reset the DNS to 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4
The comma is not a typo.  As soon as I did this, my facetime started working.  I had previously tried resetting the DNS to just 8.8.4.4, but that did not work.
I have not tried to use imessage so I don't know if it fixed anything with that.
