Win7 and newest itunes 64bit install problem

I have not seen my itunes installation problem here on the forum yet. I hope someone can help.
I completely removed Itunes per the Apple instructions, in the correct order, and verified all was gone from the computer. I downloaded the latest version for my 64bit computer (Win7), which currently is 10.5.1 for windows 64bit system. After installing it, I receive a message saying that "this ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes then reinstall the 64bit version of itunes.
I've done that no less than 4 times now, same message. Has someone a fix or idea for this problem?

Try to use 10.3 instead, the 10.5.1 dont work on all PC computers, I  couldent install the 10.5.1 but 10,3 installes without any problem. I have a  good cumputer so it is nothing wrong there so it is only a bad program from apple.

A window pops up and says "iTunes was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127)" and i've installed the newest iTunes twice. ?? really hoping to fix this without deleting all of my music...

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • A different iTunes windows install problem: "validation"

am posting this for a friend of mine who has been using iT on his windows laptop for years.
He was trying to install the latest iTunes, and he downloaded it okay. When it started installing, he gets as far as the step "validating" and then it just stops - no error message or anything.
any clues? I see other folks have been having Windows iT install problems, but not exactly this one (there was no error message number).
(He's using a pre-vista version of Windows - could it be that the newest iT is only supposed to work with vista? I know nothing about windows.)

    Just a few quick thoughts.
    1. The newest iTunes does not work with Windows 2000.
    2. Some problems have been due to a display setting. To see everything the display setting (Changed through the Control Panel and/or Display) should be 1024 x 768.
    3. What specific error messages is he seeing?

  • Lenovo D20, Type 4155-21G With 5x1.5tb Raid 5, Windows 7 64bit install problem.

    H
Id like to just document a current machine and works and see if any thing is glaringly wrong..
Above spec machine has an onboard marrvel 66xx raid card, a raid 5 volume has been created, total useable space is around 5.5TB.
The software in play here is the following..
Orignal Lenovo recovery disk set, this is Rescue and recovery boot disk 1, then the OS which is Vista 32 Business, the disk label is actual 64bit but its not 64bit its 32bit.
The machine finally has to leave with Windows 7 64bit ultimate.
I have looked into the upgrade paths and so on and basicly you need vista 64bit ultimate in theory, certain hacks are possible such as renaming the os level or name via the registery, but this is dirverting from my post.
Here is what has been done and what has happend.
    20th Jan.
    Start of day.
    Raid 5 volume created.
Factory recovery completed windows vista business 32bit.
Attempt to upgrade Windows vista business to Windows 7 ultimate from with in windows, windows 7 alerts this is not a compatable system etc.
At this stage since the 64bit upgrade is not possible from the known good lenovo state (lenovo vista business factory desktop etc) the second disks in the "Windows 7 32bit + 64bit any time upgrade package was ran.
The 32bit version of the Windows 7 ultimate was ran, this did complete sucessfully.
The 64bit version of the windows 7 was attempted once more from with in the newly installed Windows 7 32 bit but again this upgrade route is not supported.
At this stage a custom install was completed (which means a fresh install which wipes the drive) / fresh install, of the windows 7 64bit any time upgrade disk.
For some reason the Windows 7 64bit any time upgrade key failed to be accepted.
At this stage a second engineer repeated all steps completed to verify and on the second go around the FRESH install of Windows 64bit any time upgrade (stand alone install / custom etc) the key worked!..
This is were it gets interesting.
Lets recap, we have a D20 with 5x1.5tb sata hard drives in raid 5, all on the onboard marvel raid card.
Windows 7 64bit has been sucessfully installed, and of course the next step is to install the lenovo system update tool. (version for windows 7, I understand this is fully 64bit compatable..)
This was completed and pc doctor and one other misc application install, the system requested to restart and then ....
The raid BIOS of the marvel card reported that the raid had become degraded..!!
An inspection of the onboard raid information results that the disk 0 of the 5 disks, was no longer assigned to the RAID 5, with teh remaining several disks still "assigned".
At this stage the only option is to delete the raid five array and recreate it.
This has been done and the factory recovery process has once again been restarted and an attempt will be made to perform the custom install with hopefully the windows 7 64bit any time upgrade install detecting the previous version although I would say that it would not need to detect anything since this is now longer an upgrade but a custom fresh install.
    Further information.
There is a System bios update from the 5th of Jan 2010, this has been burnt to cd and will be applyed against the machine shortly.
We have had some conversation about just how it is that a disk can fatally pop out from the raid five volume like this, was it a coincidence that it coninsided with the power cycle process dirrectly after the system update installation?
Tommorow a Windows 64bit OEM package will be applied against this machine and since we have the relivant driver file for the onboard raid card (sourced from the drivers and applications lenovo recovery disk set), there should be less of a problem in key acceptance.
Kind of a werid situation, what looks like a possible hardware problem and a stupid microsoft upgrade qulification problem.
Is there any thing stupid I have over looked?
Thanks, sorry for the long post but this is the story in full.
Note from Moderator:  Fixed formatting issue.

    21st Jan..
The D20 has sucessfully had vista business factory reinstalled and then Windows 7 64bit installed.
Dirrectly after the Windows 7 installation and power cycle, one of the five 1.5tb hard drives have dropped out of the raid, visable as "DEGRADED", uppon further inspection via control m, the middle drive (not drive 0 as before) drive 2 (0,1,2,3,4,5) has dropped out and is not marked as assigned, it is marked with no label or free.
This is high strangeness, it is my understanding that the RAID technologies are transparent to the OS so it should not be in any way the Windows 7 install triggering this, the last occurance was also during a Windows 7 power cycle but dirrectly after the system update tool being installed.
At this stage it would appear that Windows 7 64-bit used in conjunction with the supplment driver disk marked as (drivers and apps, windows xp vista, windows 7) is not able to complete and remain stable.
I suspect a possible driver issue but if this was the case surely the windows 7 install would not progress past the first installation point where the driver disks is required to actually use and see the array via the controler.
I will update this thread with more information as it becomes available.
Machine delivery eta to customer is tommorow so this is not good.

  • ITunes Administrator Install Problem

I'm trying to upgrade to the newest iTunes version, but I keep getting a message that says, "Service ‘iPodService’ (iPodService) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient priveges to stop system services." I'm just not sure what I need to do with my administrator privelages with Windows XP to get the install to work.

that can happen sometimes if the itunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either itunes or quicktime (or applications using quicktime) prior to the install. so let's try a "download, restart, then install strategy."
    leave your ipod unplugged.
download and save a copy of the itunes installer to your hard drive. (do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)
    iTunes 7.1.1.5 Installer
shut down running applications and restart the PC.
do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
does the install go through properly this time?

  • HT3798 Ipod Classic will not sync with windows 8 and newest itunes

I have ipod classic, 160gb, with new computer with Windows 8 and latest version of Itunes - came from xp and previous version of itunes - and never had a syncing problem.
All my songs are in new itunes on new computer, however ipod will not sync.  Have received -50, and duplicate file name - I restored and it will go so far and then freeze.  Or  I get -53.  Have tried lots of suggestions discovered on pages like these... but none have worked.  I do see there is a problem with classic and new itunes - does anyone have any solutions??
    Thanks.....

Well I finally figured out the problem, not thanks to anyone from Apple for that matter. You would asume this problem has happened before and is still happening. The problem was I couldn't copy certain songs anymore from iTunes to my iPod Classic. When trying to copy certain songs I got an error.
If you have this problem it means your song file is corrupted. You can simply check this by trying to copy it from your hard drive to an external hard drive. Here you will also get an error message.
This means you need to replace all the corrupted files by a back up on your hard drive or download it again. I did this and now everything works fine.
Hope this will solve a lot of problems.

  • ITunes 9 install problem: software for communicating with ipods not install

I downloaded and installed the update for iTunes 9 via apple software updater last night, and when I started iTunes I got the error "The software required for communicating with iPods and Mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?" I click yes, and it says it couldn't fix the problem.
I followed the instructions here (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) to completely uninstall itunes and quicktime and all supporting components, including mobileme and bonjour and then reinstalled iTunes9 using the setup file downloaded from apple.com. Still no luck! I get the same error when I start iTunes.
any suggestions? Help! Should I go back to the older version of iTunes?
btw, when I uninstalled iTunes, I kept my library files and two plugins around: last.fm scrobbler and mmkeys. Does this matter? I don't think so: I tried removing the plugins and I still got the same error.
I'm running Vista 64bit, and I used the 64 bit installer.

For those using Windows 7 64-bit, I also experienced this frustrating installation error. However, tonight, I was finally able to install iTunes 9 without getting the communication message by setting the compatibility tab under the properties tab of the installer to the following settings:
    - check "run this program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 2"
    - check "run this program as an administrator"
    - launch the installer by right-clicking and selecting "run as administrator"
After selecting those options and also uninstalling iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device Support, iTunes 9 finally installed without any glitches on my Windows 7 OS.
Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for Vista users except for the already posted recommendation to use the 32-bit installer.

  • Upgraded to iTunes 6.0.5 and not Itunes wont install

    Hmmm...
I started using my itunes 6.0.4 and it told me a new version was available so I clicked upgrade to 6.0.5 the installation started, removed my old version and now when it goes to install the new versin it just quits and installs nothing.
The installation goes all the way to the end but at the end a windows pops up and tells me that "The Installation was interupted before ITunes could be completely installed". I looked on the support FAQ and all my settings are fine and I am the administrator.....What gives. Not only could I not upgrade but I can no longer us itunes...very fustrating. From the looks of it, many other seem to having similar problems but were able to get around it by using the Quicktime standalone. I tired that but got the same error as I did with iTunes...
    Any ideas anyone?

Ok I figured it out and finally after the 76th installation of iTunes/QuickTime I got it to work. Here is what I did, for me It acutally was a combination of several other threads. When I tried each one on their own, it did not work. Once I did them all...it did. Perhaps the difference with me is that I was running Windows One Care Live + Windows Defender (antivirus + antispyware + firewall)
Anyway, If anyone else is having this problem hope this helps. I am using Windows XP Professional (I dont if it will work/applies to XP Home but I would guess all but item 1 below would)
    1. Read the support article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300361
On Windows XP sp2 it wont actually let you do what the article describes...or on my installation it wouldn't. So I just logged on as the Windows Adminstrator on my domain controller and and added to my domain security policy (then removed this setting it after I finally got itunes installed sucessfully).
    Reboot (uggg)
    2. Read the support article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302386
Since I was having problems with Both new versions (6.0.5) of the installer for QuickTime AND iTunes I justed deleted everything under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer instead of just the files it tells you to. Since nothing was working i figured what the heck.
    Reboot (uggg)
    3. Just in the event my antivirus was silently preventing the install I turned everything off by using the view/change settings option in Windows Live OneCare app (double click on the icon in the taskbar). Here is the kicker....when I tured that off, it still left things running!!!! What the heck is that.
Anyway So I went to Start->Settings->control panel->Administrative Tools and ran the services app. I scrolled down and manually stopped the Windows firewall, Windows Defender, and Windows Live OneCare services. To stop you just left click and highlight the service you want to stop then click the stop button at the top of that window (next to the play button)
(NOTE if I left those running I still had hang problems in the install...believe me I tried and failed, must acutally turn those off manually)
    4. Install the Standalone QuickTime new version:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
    Reboot (uggg)...It worked!!!
    5. Install the new version of iTunes:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    Reboot (uggg)...It worked!!!
    6. Now that everything was running I went back into the windows live onecare view/change settings by double clicking on the icon in the taskbar and restarted my windows antivirus, firewall, and antispyware.
Rebooted (grrr) and computer is running normally again.
Well thats what I did and everything worked fine and my Ipods are all happy now. If this works for you gimmie a "Amen brother".
    Peace
Dell   Windows XP Pro   Windows One Care Live also running

  • Oracle Linux 6.2 64bit install problem

    Hi all,
    I had a installation problem of 64bit Oracle Linux 6.2 with HP proliant dl380 g7 (build-in P410i array controller),
when i try to install the OS, it will keep in black screen after loading the vmlinuz.
I had try the 5.8 32bit version it can pass the vmlinuz.
So, I guess it may be related to driver.
Does any one can help me fix this problem.
    thanks,
    Kenny

I suggest to try the following:
When the bootloader screen prompts you to press any key to enter the menu... press any key.
Move the cursor to your default Linux kernel, normally Oracle Linux UEK and press the letter 'e'.
Move the cursor down 1 line to the kernel parameter and press the letter 'e' again.
    Add the word "nomodset".
If you want to see more details, remove "rhgb quiet"
Press the Enter key when done
Press the letter 'b' to boot the system
If all works, edit /etc/grub.conf and modify the kernel parameter line for a permanent change.

  • Got os4 and newest itunes, now internet on macbook is 50/50

After 8 long hours last night downloading the latest version of itunes, then os4 and installing, now my macbook is acting weird. I keep getting all these error messages that the server stops responding, but it's all random at a lot of different websites, which can't possibly all be on the same server somewhere.
Is anyone else having internet issues after downloading itunes and os4 at the same time? It might not be related at all, but this is the first time in 2 years that it's happened.

    Hi there,

  • CS6 and AAMEE 3.1: Install Problems

    Hello,
I have been trying to install some components of the CS6 Education Edition by packaging them using AAMEE 3.1 (I am packaging each product individually rather than having all of them in a single package), but I have hit some problems.
The packaging process appears to work. However, following the completion of the installation process (when msiexec no longer appears in Powershell's 'Get-Process' list), the product - which was supposed to be installed to a location which was specified during packaging - does not appear anywhere on the hard disk, and nothing is added to the Start Menu. I have tried with two seperate packages. One contains Acrobat X Pro and the other contains Photoshop CS6.
I have skimmed over the logfiles VERY briefly for both packages (those things are huge!) and at the bottom of the logfiles which were created on the first install attempt of the packages, the line...
"MSI (c) (80:78) [11:42:44:282]: Windows Installer installed the product..."
...can be seen. On a second install attempt however, the newly-created logfiles have the line...
"MSI (c) (58:94) [11:46:05:268]: Windows Installer reconfigured the product...."
...at the bottom, suggesting that something somewhere has been reconfigured.
The .msi files were executed using Command Prompt which had been launched via 'Run as Administrator' and they were executed with "msiexec /i <path> /qn".
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Christian Hill

    Hi,
Sorry to hear you are facing problems. We need to investigate the log file to know the exact reason of failure.
Can you please send the PDApp.log file to [email protected] The log file is formed at user specific temp folder. You can find this folder using %temp%\PDApp.log (if msi is run from logged-in user account) OR [BootDrive]:\windows\Temp\PDAp.log. (No user logged in).

  • Just upgraded to ios 6 and newest itunes (first time for  4g ipod touch I've had for years).  After the restore, it no longer syncs when plugged in. My music is in itunes, but won't sync to my ipod.

Please help.  I finally gave in to updating software because my apps wouldn't update without io5.  I ensured all of my music and apps and pictures were listed on  my iTunes so that when it restored it would all sync back.  Well, my ipod is restored, and my pictures are moved over, but my apps are not.  I guess I can go and re-install individually, but what is the purpose of having them on iTunes??  Also, NONE of my  music is on my ipod and there does not seem to be a way to move it from iTunes.
Also, at the top right of iTunes where it has the spots for Library and iPod Touch.  If I click on the iPod, the icon just disappears!  iTunes used to have a column on the left side that listed my ipod and I could move things to it (like my music).  Is this how the new version is or am I just missing something?
I am so frustrated right now after spending hours....

    Ignore.  I figured it out:)
