Win7 & CS3

Hi all,
Just finished setting a new PC at home with Windows 7, I had thought about using PS-E8 but didn`t like the print interface, So I reloaded my old photo editor software PS-CS3, which I do like because it just gets on with the job!
However I’ve noticed it behaves differently on Win7. - i.e. My tool palette which normally have in single column mode to the left, now only work in compressed view (short double column mode) even if I grab it and try push it across to other side it just will not snap out to single column t othe othe paletts! I didn`t realise that the operating system had such an effect on PS interface, or Iam I missing somthing.
Any ideas !!!

On the top of the tool box , click on the double arrow and
see if it goes to single column.

  • .CR2 files won't open in CS3 on  a new WIN7 'puter

I just got a new 'puter with WIN7 installed. I installed CS3 and updated ACR to 4.6, (removed the old .8bi, (or whatever it was), file first). I am shooting a Canon 40D BTW...
I still can't open .CR2 files - I ge something like: "could not complete your request as it is not the right kind of document". They will not open in Bridge or CS3.
My discussion with tech support left me with "Bridge can't open .CR2 files..."
My next step, unless someone here can offer something easier/better, is to uninstall CS3 and reinstall.
    Thanx,
    Ron

Do you see Camera Raw listed correctly in Photoshop > Help > About Plug-in?
Don't re-install until you've tried resetting all three sets of preferences and purged the Bridge cache.

  • Error installing CS3 on Win7

Hey. I am trying to install CS3 Web Premium on a Windows 7 machine we just bought from Dell.
The installer installs the shared components and Acrobat 8 but fails at everything else. I have tried turning off UAC, the firewall and running the installer in comparability mode and as administrator.
Windows event viewer shows this error from the installer:
Product: Adobe Version Cue CS3 Client -- Error 1920.Service ##Id_String1.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B879762## (Bonjour Service) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I have installed it on another Win7 machine without issue. (Though that was a scratch built with a retail Win7 install rather then a per-installed machine.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

try cleaning and then reinstalling per Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
p.s. right click the setup/installation file and click 'run as administrator'.

So then I uninstalled and installed on my Vista 64 bit machine....

  • CS3 cannot install on win7 professional

    Dear Supporter,
after setting up Win7 Professional 64bit in an virtualbox (4.3.10r93012) I tried to install my old copy of Adobe Master CS3. The installer runs trough all DVD's but at the end only the common files are installed (all selected programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere failed to install). I have also tried to install only Illustrator 13 from DVD4 but it won't work without the installer on DVD 1. Any suggestions are welcome.

    Hi hmkeller,
You might want to try downloading CS3 from : http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs3-product-downloads.html
and install in compatibility mode as CS3 has not been tested and is incompatible with Windows 7.
Please consider purchasing the Creative Cloud subscription.

  • IS CS3 Production Premium incompatible with Win7 Home Premium 64bit?

I installed CS3 on my new machine with Windows7 Home Premium 64bit on it and it appeared to install correctly.
So when I click the photoshop.exe file it opens a window and freezes.... (not responding) I have sat for an extended amount of time and nothing ever happens beyond that.
If I use after effects or illustrator or flash... nothing happens at all... no windows... however If I open up my task manager, I can see the processes running for those programs... just no applications...
I have run as admin and in WinXP SP2 mode.
    Disabled DEP and UAC.
    Updated everything in the book.
    I dont' get it...
So I am starting to wonder if it just isn't compatible with Win7.
Can anyone shed any light on the subject or direct me to anything that could help out?

I have personally tested apps that were configured for 32 bit OS from XP on and they work fine in all 64 bit OS including Win7...as 32 bit programs.
    Hudechrome,
Can you clarify on CS4 running in Windows 7? My employeer is upgrading to 64-Bit Windows 7 Ultimate (new laptop w/8 GB ram). I can re-install with XP if I really want to.
For Win7 Ultimate, do I just run the 32-bit PS CS4 app for best results or is there something special I need to do?
    Thanks!
Please read what I said, excerpted here:
"...and they work fine in all 64 bit OS including Win7...as 32 bit programs."
Now Dec9 has some further notes above which should work fine. Personally, I will change everything when CS5 arrives. Hardware, OS and programs. Since I am still running CS3 (which should also run on Win7 at 32 bits) I am in no hurry to upset a rather well oiled editing system. Yesterday, I did upgrades to my hardware, adding an additional 1TB drive. I needed extra sata connections so I added a PCI sata card, blew out the dust bunnies, installed the HD and the damn thing wouldn't even post!
    It runs now.
    Wouldn't dare not !!

  • Encore CS3 library install fails on win7 64bit pro

    Hi
Just installing my discs from Premiere Pro CS3 onto a win 7 64 bit pro PC, which was my Win X 32bit PC but with all new components except Power supply unit and my Audigy X-Fi elite pro sound card.
    Exit Kaspersky IS 2014.
Premiere CS3 failed to go on though other third part components did.
I then disabled Kaspersky IS 2014 AND made the User Account Control 'off', and bingo, it worked.
So now reboot and turn off KIS and check UAC is off, and proceed, install Encore CS3. it went on
However Encore CS3 library has a red X.
try again select install library, long wait for the green progress bar to finish, result still not on.
Why and what else can I do ?
Has anyone else had a battle installing CS3 onto win7 pro 64bit or just win7 64 bit ?
    Merlin

CS3 is 32 bit. But it sounds like you got that part to work. Does Encore run? I don't think that is the issue; I suspect permissions.
If you are just wanting menus, etc, just use the CS6 download. Don't use one of the links with an installer; just download and unzip to the correct location. The menus were not updated from the pre-CS4 pars (Encore knows to do this), so I suspect you will be fine. I have not actually used the recent library with CS3.

  • Fonts different between CS3 and CS5 on Win7 system using the same fonts directory

I have several files created in Fireworks CS3 that work fine. Fonts are all  installed in the system directory on my Win7 box.  This used to be a WinXP Pro  box.
I can load a file into Fireworks CS3 without a single issue and the text all  looks perfect. The way it should.  Close CS3, open CS5 and load the same file  and CS5 tells me I have to update my fonts.  Why?  Same system, same fonts in  the same fonts directory. Only thing that's changed is that I'm opening the  file(s) in CS5.
The fonts do not look the same in CS5.  Am I going to have to redo every  Fireworks CS3 file so that it looks correct in CS5? If so, why?
    -- Bob
Here's a sample image the way it's supposed to look. The Swift gets hosed. PlazaDUtil is the font. I'd hate to have to redo all my logo files.

Prior to CS4 Fireworks used the Macromedia type engine. From CS4 forward, adobe introduced the adobe type engine to improve text handling/integration between FW AI and PS. As a result moving CS3 files over to cs4 forces FW to update the fonts.

  • Adobe CS3 Silent Deployment - Win7 x64

    Hello,
I'm trying to silently deploy Adobe CS3 Web Premium to our Win7 x64 machines.  I've deployed it to XP machines in the past successfully but I keep getting errors now.  I've utilized the '--record=1' option and also successfully created the 'application.xml.override' file and placed it into the right folder.  When I go to run the silent install it fails after a minute with an 'exit code 7.' Looking at the installer log it says:
    FATAL
Exception: Payload deployment data is invalid or missing
    Exit code: 7
    My command is: "%~dp0Setup.exe" --mode=silent -–deploymentFile="%~dp0deployment\install.xml" --skipProcessCheck=1
I've run the install manually and it succeeds except for one pop-up requesting 'AdobePDF.dll'

  • Issues Activating CS3 on Win7 64 bit

    Hello,
I have contacted Adobe online support in a chat session on this and they suggested I come here.
    I have a new PC with Win7 64bit.
Im trying to install my old CS3 software on the new PC.
    Install goes fine.
But Im having issue with activating my product. ( Im just amatuer so I really dont want to buy newer software)
My serial code is valid and Adobe has checked and reset the account stating that I should be able to activate my software.
    MY PROBLEM:
Starts when I try to activate my software. The process starts...and the install window goes to a blank while its trying to activate ( contact Adobe )
After maybe 30 to 45 seconds the install window comes back with a window telling me " Activation - No Connection"
The has options to wait, or try again, or call Adobe.
Adobe online chat support stated that the problem is because Im running a 64 bit OS.
Im a systems engineer and that just doesnt make sense to me, sounds like a cop out by support team.
Now I was using my WI-FI to activate....but I doubt that is my issue.
    I will try with hardline.
Im hoping someone has a work around to help
    Thanks

The activation server for CS2 no longer functions, and you have to download a special version that doesn't need activation.  I haven't heard that that is also the case with CS3, and you would have thought that Customer support would have been able to tell you.  I am afraid it would come as no surprise if it turns out that they were not up to speed though.

  • Indesign [cs3] download for win7

    Hello,
I can't seem to find the indesign or collective cs3 pack that works on windows 7, I 've come accross only those for xp and vista. Where can I find one for download?
    Thanx

    You won't. CS3 predates Win7.
There are not separate installers for the various versions of the OS paltform, only Windows or Mac, so if you can find CS3 for Windows, it should install on Win7. Make sure you let it install in the default 32 bit program files folder.

  • Stuck... CS3 and a computer move from XP to Win7

I have CS3 on an XP box (along with a great number of other programs) and I purchased a new primary box and wanted to just use the XP box for image editing.
So, I got a product that would move my XP box to my new Windows 7 box (the product is from laplink) so I wouldn't have to re-install 5 years of applications.
The product did what it was supposed to, and moved all my applications and registry over. Quickbooks, Firefox, Thunderbird, open office, MS office, secure shell, secure FTP, etc. all moved and worked. In fact the product did just as advertised and moved ALL my programs, including CS3.
Then since I didn't want CS3 on the new box (I had already purchased a KVM swicth so I could leave it on the old box with the great graphics card). I decided to "uninstall" it.
    It failed.
    I tried to run it.
Photoshop fails and tells me to talk to my administrator and uninstall it.
I have downloaded CS3Clean and tried that, but it requires a MSoft product that doesn't seem to exist on Windows 7 (The Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility).
Now I WANT to remove CS3 from this computer, and I can't. Does anyone have any idea how to remove CS3 from the Win7 box?

    You're kidding, right?
100% of my other programs transferred over from XP to Win7 with no problem. CS3, which I don't want on this computer anyway, did not, but is still listed on the computer. In order to get rid of the one program set from the Win7 system your response is to wipe it all and do a full system recover? Then when I run the transfer program again it will copy it over again and I will still be exactly where I am today unless I totally remove it from the XP system where I want it to stay, do the transfer and then do a total re-install of CS3 on the old XP system.
So, from you response these would be the steps to "fix" my problem.
    1) back up the new Win7 box (400gig)
    2) Wipe out the Win7 box and do a full recover back to factory.
    3) On the XP system remove CS3
    4) Run the program to transfer the rest of the XP to the Win7
    5) Re-install CS3 on the XP system
    6) Run the recover on the Win7 backup
Not that I don't appreciate the help, but are you nuts? All that to remove CS3 from the system I don't want it running on? That is NOT a solution, it's a day and a half of down time for both my boxes and makes the assumption that I haven't started using my "new box" even though I had CS3 on it (and I have moved over to the new box for all practical purposes) and it was non-functional and not removing itself.
I'm amazed that CS3 will not remove itself from Win7, I'm amazed that the clean program wouldn't work, and I'm floored by the only response here on the forums.

  • Cannot install Flash CS3 on Win7 computer

I can't install Flash Pro CS3 on a new HP Win7 computer. The computer is:

  • Critical Error installing CS3 on Win7 64bit

    Hi all,
I've combed through the forums and tried every fix that I've read, however nothing has worked.  I've just been given a new work laptop with a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise Edition running SP1.  Full administrator privledges.
I am attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 straight from the DVD, so no updates, patches, etc.
After running either the autorun or directly setup.exe within the Adobe CS3 folder, the Initializing Adobe Photoshop CS3 bar makes it between 80-90% before jumping to the Loading Setup screen where I'm presented with the error, "Critical errors were found in setup. Please see the Setup log file for details."
OK, the support pages have had me look for "FATAL" (case sensitive) within the setup log.  It appears on the very last line of the 80 mb text file.  Here's the surrounding elements:

    Edit: additional system specs:
    160 GB free on C:
    4 GB RAM
Adobe Reader and Acrobat are also installed, however Acrobat was installed well after I began receiving this error.  I haven't tried running it with Reader completely uninstalled.

You do know that it's not supported to run Photoshop CS3 on Windows 7, right?
That said, it should be possible to make it work.
Have you tried running the installer As Administrator?  UAC doesn't actually GIVE you administrative privileges unless you specifically escalate the installation.  Complete unawareness of UAC is one of the reasons Adobe doesn't support running Photoshop CS3 on Windows 7.
If you're saddled with problems running older applications on Windows 7 and really need the compatibility vs. the dubious added protection UAC provides, there is a way to turn UAC off.  But I suggest you read about UAC and fully understand what it does before taking that route.
