Win7 does not show "Adobe PDF" printer using Acrobat 8 Pro

using Acrobat Pro 8.1.0 I cannot see or add Adobe PDF printer. I do see "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" as a printer.

Concentrate on getting the scanner working without any Adobe software. Once you can scan to a file, any OSX program (except Adobe) that can read the file can generate PDF files via the Print command.

  • Adobe PDF Printer missing (acrobat 9 pro, XP pro)

    Hi,
    I searched the forums and found some similar problems, but not with my config, and, no solution.
    I have installed Adobe Creative Suite CS4 to a new, clean system. It runs on WIN XP Pro. This installation includes Acrobat 9 pro.
    Sadly, the printer is NOT in my printers list. I cannot print to PDF via file>print.
    I tried help>repair in acrobat, but no difference. I also upgraded the newest versions of my adobe software via adobe updater.
    Can anybody help me please? I don't want to install third party PDF writer, I paid for Adobe and I want to use it properly. Thank you

  • White swatch does not show on PDF or print-outs...

    Hi,
    I've been noticing this glitch with the white swatch option more and more:
    When I apply it to objects, it appears in the file, but when I generate a PDF it vanishes, and of course does not show on the print-out either.
    Also, it won't show up on the print-out directly output from Illustrator.
    Anyone seen this issue?
    When I change the color to anything else but white, the graphics show up again.
    Thank you.

    If you turn on Overprint Preview in Illustrator, does it also disappear?
    Overprint may be turned on, check the Attributes pallet, and uncheck Overprint Fill and/or Overprint Stroke.

    How to check the resolution of a pdf file using Acrobat 9 pro?

    PDF files don't have one resolution, but may have none or many different resolutions, one per image. You can check the maximum/minimum resoluion with preflight in Acrobat Pro, but not in Adobe Reader.

    Regarding printing PDF documents...It depends on the PDF document that you are trying to print.  In general, it will take longer to print more complex and larger PDF documents.
    If you are willing to share your PDF document (that takes forever to print) with us at [email protected], we can test it with the same version (11.6.3) of Adobe Reader on different iOS versions (iOS 7.x vs. iOS 8.x).  Please include the link to this forum (https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1616231) in your email message for reference.
    Actual printing is handled by iOS (not by Adobe Reader) via AirPrint over Wi-Fi connection.  We've heard from other users about iOS 8 Wi-Fi connectivity problems.

  • I can not print an PDF using the Adobe PDF-Printer with Acrobat DC

    Hi all,
    i installed the Trial of Acrobat DC but it dont let me use the Adobe PDF-Printer well, because i cannot print from any third-party-application using Adobe PDF.
    I tryed to print from within Word, Editor and Browser and selected the Adobe PDF-Printer as target, but at 75% both, the Application from which i print and the PDF-Creating-Wizzard are freezing (for hours) and i need to kill the procesed. No PDF-File is created. Same Problem with trying to print a Testfile from within the Windows-Printer-Dialogs.
    Only Adobe DC cause this issue, if i use freeware like Bullzip PDF the files get created successfully, so i assume its not a generally problem with PDF on my system.
    What could be the problem? (pls dont say its because of the trial, a trail should allow to test all features and Why should i buy a programm if it cannot do what a freeware can do?)

    Hey Daniel,
    Have you tried repair Adobe Acrobat DC?
    If no, then please repair the installation under Help menu.
    This could also happen due to an Adobe Acrobat DC installation file corruption. To resolve this issue :-
    Uninstall Adobe Acrobat DC using the Acrobat cleaner utility.
    Restart your computer.
    Re-install Acrobat Acrobat DC  Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC.
    Let me know if the issue persist.

  • Problem printing files to Adobe PDF printer using VBA

    I have an Excel project. Part of the code prints the active sheet range as a PDF file. Later code then sends the PDF file as an e-mail attachment. The Code was originally written using the free application PDFCreator and works as intended. However the client wants to use the Acrobat "Adobe PDF" printer instead.
    Each PDF must have a name as specified in the code and must be sent to a specified folder, again as specified in the code.
    The Adobe PDF printer insists on 1) using the path specified in the printer preferences and 2) naming it as the workbook name + .pdf.
    I have checked the Distiller API reference and it tells me that if a key is set, the output path and name can be controlled. However, setting the key as described does not work. The PDF printer ignores it and creates another key named as the output file with a REG_SZ value that is numeric and increments each time print is invoked.
    Attached is a screen shot of the registry entries.
    What am I doing wrong?

    I have.
    However, I think I have solved this.
    First, I am using Win 7 64 bit, so the application is not excel but c:\windows\splwow64.exe. I've modified my code so that both XP 32 and Win7 64 are catered for.
    Second, the print command I used in VBA was
    ActiveSheet.Printout ActivePrinter:= "Adobe PDF"
    It looks like that starts a different Adobe DF printer to the one that would look at the registry. If I change the code to
    ActiveSheet.Printout
    and set Adobe PDF as the default printer in control panel, the whole thing works as planned.
    All I need to do now is to set the printer to Adobe PDF within the code so the user doesn't have to do this in Control Panel. Obviously, my approach above didn't work, so what is the way to do this?
    Here's the sub routine as it stands at the moment:
    Public Sub PrintUsingAcrobat()
        Dim strOutFile As String
        Dim PDFPath As String
        Dim FileName As String
        Dim XPApplic As String
        Dim X64Applic As String
        XPApplic = Application.Path & "\excel.exe"
        X64Applic = "C:\Windows\splwow64.exe"
        Const HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE As Long = &H80000002
        Const HKEY_CURRENT_USER As Long = &H80000001
        Dim lRC
        Dim sPath
        Dim objRegistry
        PDFPath = outpath ' outpath is a global variable set elsewhere
        strOutFile = Range("Suppliername") & ".pdf"
        FileName = PDFPath & strOutFile
        Set objRegistry = GetObject("winmgmts://./root/default:StdRegProv")
        sPath = "SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\PrinterJobControl"
        lRC = objRegistry.SetStringValue(HKEY_CURRENT_USER, sPath, XPApplic, FileName)
        lRC = objRegistry.SetStringValue(HKEY_CURRENT_USER, sPath, X64Applic, FileName)
        ActiveSheet.PrintOut
        DoEvents
    End Sub

  • Adobe PDF printer  - Use VBA??

    I am using Microsoft Access 2003 and have Acrobat 7 (Adobe PDF) and Acrobat 5 (Adobe PDF Writer) installed on my machine.   I can print to the Adobe PDF printer by using this code:
    Set Application.Printer = Application.Printers("Adobe PDF")
    DoCmd.OpenReport strReport, acViewNormal, , , acHidden
    I am trying to figure out if there is a way to use an Acrobat object to set the path and document name without user intervention (which the code above requires as a dialog pops up requesting that information).
    So, I am pretty good at figuring out how to use the various properties and methods of objects but I am just not sure WHICH objects I should be dealing with and I got lost in trying to read the SDK.
    Can anyone provide at least a push in the right direction?

  • IPhone 6 does not show in iTunes when using WiFi

    My iPhone 6+ shows up in iTunes when connected via USB. But if I disconnect the cable and turn off iTunes and then come back later it does not show up like my iPhone 5 did using OS 7.
    I have the option selected in iTunes to "automatically connect using WiFi".
    I have tried turning off my phone and restarting iTunes but it does not help.
    Any suggestions?

    Greetings Paul,
    It sounds as though you are attempting to sync with iTunes via WiFi, and are running into some complications. After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning iTunes WiFi sync:
    Sync using Wi-Fi
    Open iTunes
    To set up Wi-Fi syncing, connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable.
    Click the Device button in the upper-right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button first.) If you don't see your device, choose View > Hide Sidebar.
    In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi."
    When the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it. The iOS device will sync automatically when the following conditions are true:
    The iOS device is charging.
    iTunes is open on the computer.
    The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
    While the iOS device is in the left-hand column of iTunes, you can select the content tabs and configure sync options.
    Click Apply or Sync to sync the iOS device.
    If the iOS device doesn't appear in the Devices section or you can't sync, please try these steps.
    Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Unable to find adobe pdf printer or acrobat distilelr printer

    this message appears when i try to convert a word file to a pdf file. its was working for years and now i keep getting this message,
    please help dan

    Ok, then yesterday, something or someone deleted the Adobe PDF printer. This is alarming, especially if you don't remember doing it, but may be easy to fix.
    You may be unaware that the printer driver called "Adobe PDF" is vital, and nothing to do with printing. When you choose this printer and "print" to it, it makes a PDF. This works with all Windows apps that can print, and is the normal way to make a PDF.
    When you use Acrobat's special add-on for making PDFs from Word, it uses Adobe PDF behind the scenes, so there is no getting away from it.
    My suggestion to try first is a REPAIR of Adobe Acrobat. Start Acrobat and look for REPAIR in the HELP menu. (Reboot may be needed).  If the repair is a success, it will put back the Adobe PDF printer, and conversion will work again.

  • PDF prints from Acrobat 8 Pro, but not from Acrobat 9 Pro

    I have a PDF that prints fine when I print from Acrobat 8 Pro, but when I open the same PDF in Acrobat 9 Pro, only portions of each page actually print out.
    All systems running Windows XP Pro, SP3
    A8P 8.1.2
    A9P 9.1.1
    Any ideas?

    Well, for those following this thread or needing a solution, I found a work-around though I'm still not sure why the initial problem exists.
    In Acrobat 9 Pro, once you have the main print dialogue box open, follow the steps below:
    1) Click ADVANCED
    2) Select PRINT AS IMAGE
    3) Set DPI to 300
    4) Click OK
    5) Make any other typical print setup adjustments as you normally would and finish printing as usual

  • How can I make some restictions in a PDF document using Acrobat 9 pro?

    Hello, I am a teacher from Spain. I am creating a PDF from a power point presentation, using Adobe Acrobat 9 pro. I will copy it in a cd and give it to my students. I would like to add these restrictions:
    I would like to avoid that they can copy this document.
    I only want to allow them to print it once.
    Thank you

    You can prevent copying of content (text and images) by setting permissions on the PDF file using Acrobat (apply password security, leaving the document open password empty).
    It is not possible to limit the number of times a PDF file is printed, no matter what settings you use. Printing can be disabled completely, or restricted to low-resolution output, but that is all. Even if it were somehow possible to restrict how many times Reader or Acrobat was allowed to print, there is no way to stop someone changing the copy number in the operating system print dialog, as that is beyond the control of any installed program. A printable PDF file can also be printed to another PDF file (called refrying), which will remove any interactive restrictions on the original.
    Note that permissions security is only respected by Adobe software. Third-party applications will often ignore the restrictions and allow all operations. The only way to truly protect the file is to apply a security method which is only found in Adobe products (such as LiveCycle policies), which will as a side-effect prevent anyone from opening the file in a third-party application that might not respect the restrictions.

  • Acrobat XI Pro for OSX can't open password-protected pdfs created using Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows

    I am having problems opening password-protected files created on a PC using Acrobat 9 Pro.  I am running a MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.4 with Acrobat XI Pro.  When I attempt to enter the password when prompted, a dialogue box pops up saying that I've entered the incorrect password.  After many attempts, I am certain that the password entered is correct -- this is reinforced by the fact that i am able to open the same document using Mac's Preview software.
    Any assistance would be appreciated!
    Thanks.

    I was suddenly having the same problem in Acrobat XI Pro for Windows (recently upgraded to CC from Acrobat X).  For the past while I've sometimes had to use the "insert from file" tool to get a page added from another file.  I couldn't figure out why dragging sometimes would no longer work, but was too busy to go looking for a solution until tonight.
    The solution was given by JoshTatum24 above. Switch from a scrolling page display to single page display.  Now I can drag pages between documents again.  THANK YOU Josh!
    Oh, and CORREAdmin,  it does not matter whether the hand or arrow selection tool is active, my mouse pointer is always an arrow when positioned in the page thumbnails panel.  Switching selection tools does not make a difference in dragging, but switching between scrolling and single page display definitely DOES make the difference.

  • Acrobat  adobe  pdf  does  not  show  up  canon  scanner  using

    Hi-I have just installed adobe acrobat pro 6-the problem is i want to scan in some documents and turn them into PDF's but my adobe acrobat does not realise or show that i have a scanner (canon 5000F).I have contacted canon-and they suggested i downloaded some new software for the scanner but when i try and install the new softawre it will not install and just starts up the printer utility thing at the top.They also suggested i try to uninstall the drivers for the scanner first but again when i download the uninstall utility and try to run it it does not run/set up but just starts the printer utility thing again.How can i make adobe acrobat pro 6 realise i have a scanner so as i can scan in documents to turn them into PDF's ? Any suggestions plaese
    thanks
    rick

    Concentrate on getting the scanner working without any Adobe software. Once you can scan to a file, any OSX program (except Adobe) that can read the file can generate PDF files via the Print command.
