Win7 Embedded POSready

Hey all :)
The winsxs folder takes op 30% of my drive, i know how to clean it up on win7 and win7 embedded but i cant find an diskcleanup update for Posready for the cleaning process, am i missing something or is that function not avalible on POSready?
Other windows 7 versions have KB2852386 for that purpose.
Windows 7 POSready SP1.
/Chris

The Windows 7 update can be applied to POSReady 7 since POSReady 7 is just another version on Windows 7.

  • Anyone heard about Windows Embedded POSReady 7 Pro?

Has anyone heard about Windows Embedded POSReady 7 Pro? We manufacture ATMs and were forced to switch from Windows Embedded POSReady 7 to Windows 7 Professional FES last year due to changes in the additional terms (ATs) which stated that
POSReady 7 (without the "Pro"-suffix) must not be used with ATMs.
Since then we started implementing OA 2.1, for being able to activate our machines automatically and had to inform all our customers that we now have to buy more expensive licenses with reduced functionality (no BitLocker in Win7Prof, no Embedded Enabling
    Features, no LP support, etc.).
Last week I found a very interesting EULA on MyOEM.microsoft.com for the new OS-variant "Windows Embedded POSReady 7 Pro", which suddenly is allowed on ATMs explicitly:
    2. ADDITIONAL LICENSING REQUIREMENTS AND/OR USE RIGHTS
    a. Specific Use. You may use the software on a device with automated teller machine (“ATM”) as the primary functionality.
    See
    https://myoem.microsoft.com/oem/myoem/en/topics/Licensing/emblicres/Pages/DP-WinEmbPOSReady7ProEULA.aspx for details.
Our distributor supported us and already found the ATs for Windows Embedded POSReady 7 Pro, but was also surprised that Microsoft introduced this new variant.
Does anybody know more about it?
Where can we (indirect embedded OEM, who purchases through distribution) get such relevant information earlier? ( The only source of information I know is the MyOEM-portal) And why did Microsoft release the new variant now?
    Best regards, Roman Maier

I have never heard of a Pro version for POSReady 7. It is not listed in the life cycle:
    https://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/product-lifecycles.aspx
Nor is there a download for it:
    https://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/downloads.aspx
Sounds like someone is doing some funny business. The successor to POSReady 7 is Windows Embedded 8.x Industry, which comes in two flavors - Pro and Enterprise.

    Hi,
I would like to ask about Windows Embedded POSReady? is it still available from Microsoft or replaced by Windows Embedded 8? or those are the same products with different naming? can anyone explain please?
Also, is there a developer download for it if we would like to test a POS .NET application or it's available for purchase only?
    Thanks,

  • Why won't Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 (Windows XP) log off, shut down or restart?

    Hello,
I have recently installed Microsoft's Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 or Windows XP on my Dell latitude D510.  Anytime I try to log off, shut down, or restart it says logging off with the bar going across but even after 1/2 an hour the thing still says
that.  I tried disabling my sound card, reinstalling the driver, and the Microsoft UPH thing but still nothing.  Anytime I want to turn off my laptop I have to hold down the power button which I know is bad for it but I have no choice!  Any
help is appreciated, Thanks in advance.

    Hi

    Hey MyKat-
I just noticed that this post is in the 'Measurement Studio for .NET Languages' forum, so I wanted to make sure my message was not misleading.  If we added a feature for remotely targeting WES7 cDAQ controllers, it would be a LabVIEW-based solution.  I do not expect either RT or WES7 systems to be remotely targetable from Measurement Studio/Visual Studio environments.  Apologies for any confusion.

  • Windows Embedded POSREADY 7 - Domain Network

I am working on setting up a POSREADY 7 image to replace our existing XP based point of sale units.  Part of this process is adding the POSREADY machine to our domain.
The segment of network that our pos systems are on has no internet access.  Everything is firewall-ed back through our corporate network.
I thought that when a machine was joined to a domain, the domain network profile would be picked up as the one you are connected to.  My machine seems to be connecting using the public profile and getting stuck identifying the network.
Am I not understanding things correctly?  How can I make this machine use the domain network profile?
    Thanks
    sb

Turns out it was a hardware firewall issue.  I am joining a child domain and in order to determine which network you are connected to, a dns probe needs to reach out to the PDC emulator of the root domain.  This was not open in the firewall.  Once
I adjusted my rules, it worked fine.

  • SDK to install on Win7, Win8 & on Win8Pro embedded versions.

    Hi,
I would like to develop Windows App which will be installed and run on Windows Tab.
I have been reading in different places and came to know that I need to install SDK on one of the Win7, Win8 or Win8Pro; I tried getting more information on how to download, install & use the SDK from scratch but all my efforts went in vain.
Can anybody guide me in the correct path what I need to install and what sdk can I install to develop Windows App along with the Downloadable link either free or for purchase.

  • Rebranded from POSReady 2009 to Windows XP Embedded after updates

We are currently building a Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 image for a number of touch based terminals.
I started off by installing the base OS POSReady 2009 (non-evaluation version) and ran the windows update. After about 142 updates later my OS is now rebranded to Windows XP Embedded(System Properties, Login screens, etc...). I was able to narrow down the
    problematic update to
    KB975713
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/MS10-007
due to the severity of the update and our terminals having a network connection we can not exclude the update from the build. I also checked the underlying OS using the method advised here
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cd3a07e5-87c0-429e-ac81-4223dbb5e91b/xpe-vs-wepos?forum=posready
both pre and post updates are the same (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\POSReady = 1). Would it
be safe to assume the rebranding was skin deep?
This caused issue with our users as they are questioning our choice of OS due to Windows XP Embedded having a shorter end of life support vs Embedded POSReady 2009.
    http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?sort=PN&alpha=embedded&Filter=FilterNO
We have thought about changing the images inside the dlls but decided it will violate the EULA. Is this correct?
The question is how would we go about changing the brand of the OS back to POSReady 2009 without violating the EULA?

Yes, for example that there is already IE7 included out-of-the-box instead of IE6, etc. (newer software versions), that there is 'fbreseal -keepall' optionally available instead of SysPrep and unattended setup is completely different. Additionally POSReady2009
comes with some interesting EEFs: FBWF for instance.

  • Upgrade from Win 7 Pro 32bit pre embeded OEM pack to Win 7 Pro 64bit

    Hello,
I have recently purchased 15 Dell OptiPlex Desktops with pre installed Windows 7 Pro 32bit Operating System.
Now, i wish to upgrade it to Windows 7 Pro 64bit but not able to do so as i do not have the product key. As I understand the key for 32bit & 64bit is same but the problem is that I cannot locate my current pre embedded OEM license key as it is been embedded
in to the motherboard as informed to me by OEM (Dell).
Please suggest a solution as on how can I upgrade my current 32bit OS to 64bit in this scenario.

  • Installing Office 2007 or 2010 on Windows Embedded 7

Can Office 2007 or 2010 be installed on a Windows Embedded 7 OS?
I looked at the embedded software compatibility site and do not see Office 2007 or 2010 listed on it, only the viewers.  I have not found any documentation online as to why Office isn't on the compatibility list and I would like to read up on the matter.

Can anyone give a detailed reason as to why MS doesn't want to utilize Office on Win7 Embedded?  Is this a decision MS made or is there another force behind the reason?  I can't understand why MS would want to limit their revenue by not allowing
one of their own apps run on their own OS.
    I read the pdf from
    here and the info from
here but I still do not understand the reason to limit the functionality

I am using Windows Embedded Stranded in my POS machine. I want to know that Turn Windows Features On or Off function is available or not  in Embedded Stranded  version.

If you want to add / remove features, you can use
Windows Embedded POSReady 7, which is targeted for POS systems. System Image Manager can be used with POSReady 7 to automate OS installation -

  • POSReady 2009 - Security updates after April 8, 2014

I am trying to determine if security updates will still be available for deployment to POSReady 2009 devices after April 8, 2014? Extended support is available until 2019, however certain sources say that the extended support will not include security
    updates.
In one instance someone referenced the end of Server 2000 support and how Embedded 2000 security updates ended along with it. It sounds like POSReady 2009 is in a very similar boat.
The fact that POSReady 2009 updates are also classified as Windows XP updates in SCCM gives me that same feeling that when XP is cut, all of my point of sale devices will be cut as well.

Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 extended support ends on April, 9th 2019 regarding to
http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?sort=PN&alpha=windows+embedded+posready+2009&Filter=FilterNO&wa=wsignin1.0. Extended Support means that MS will release security relevant hotfixes for this OS within this support lifecycle
    period regarding to:

  • POSReady 7 Session Limit

    Hello,
When I run a Net Config Server on an Embedded POSReady 7 terminal it shows Maximum Logged On Users as 10.  My understanding was that like Windows 7, POSReady 7 had a limit of up to 20 sessions.  Is this a setting that can be changed somewhere or
    have I misunderstood the situation?
    Thanks in advance.
