Win7 Home Pre not recognizing DVD drive

Device manager says there is a problem with the registry entries for the DVD drive ( error code 19 ).
The support site for my model doesn't show a way to download the item-specific drivers, which I intend to reinstall in order to clear the registry entry problem.
Where can I get the needed drivers for my model laptop ( an HP 2000-369WM )?
Thanx!

My Mac Pro 8 core since upgrading to Mavericks is not recognizing my Blu Ray drive unless I unplug it and re plug it in while hot.....what is this issue?

I think I have a similar sitch. I just bought a rMPB 15 with Mavericks and hooked it up to the same setup of my old 2009 17" MPB. I inserted the Logic Pro 9 install disk in my external LaCie DVD RW drive and the light on the front keeps flashing steadily as if the disk is being read but it never mounts on the desktop. I ejected the disk and installed the Logic Studio Audio Content 1 disk and it mounted fine. I inserted the Logic Pro 9 install disk into the drive on the old 17" and it mounted fine there as well. So I am at a loss as to what the glitch is and I can't be sure if its the DVD RW drive, the rMPB itself, Mavericks, or both or neither or....????

Ho boy! We have had several problems in recent threads with this dvd drive that I call the drive from the twilight zone. As I recall, it usually ended up a drive replacement, which is very painless and only costs $31. See:

  • Adobe Elements 12 not recognizing DVD drive, Help please!!

In my Adobe Elements 12 for some reason when I go to burn, it saying no burners detected. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how can it be fixed. Thank you so much in advance.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated from 12 to 12.1 using an opened project's Help Menu/Update? Please do so.
Assuming a Windows compute for now.
Is this "no burner found" situation described as "it never worked before" or "it worked before but not now"?
If it has worked before, then I would ask
    1. Do you have iTunes on your computer? Have you recently updated it?
If so, you might consider uninstalling both Premiere Elements 12 and iTunes, and then reinstalling only Premiere Elements 12. I would go through the scenario
    1. Uninstall Premiere Elements 12 and iTunes via Control Panel
    2. Do a ccleaner run through (regular and registry parts)
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
    3. Reinstall of Premiere Elements 12 only.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thank you.

    Hello:
This is not an area I have much experience in......I rarely insert DVDs and I have never had a similar problem.
When the DVD is in the drive (and DVD players is open) click on File>get disk info.

I have a MacBook Pro bought in dec 2009. Currently has mountain lion osx installed. Worked like a dream until today. Randomly froze, so I restarted it. To find I got a grey screen. It wouldn't start. Also note my DVD drive doesn't work, but mountain lion was installed via App Store anyway.
So here's what I done so far:
tried resetting PRAM - No success
Done disk utility. Disk verified with no errors. I even re formatted disk. - no success starting.
Tried re installing mountain lion via download . It froze halfway installing -no success.
Tried backing up a time machine backup from my USB hard drive. It froze at 1% - no success
Tried booting from safe mode - no success
Tried the command line boot - no success.
    Please someone help!

Sounds like the hard dre has left the building, Died, in the Sh*tter, Gone to the hard drive resting place in the sky.
Buy a new drive connect it to the system with a SATA to USB adapter and see if you can install Mt Lion on that drive connected externally. If you can then the drive inside your system has failed.
Oh Wait!!!! You have the 2009 model. They are known for bad drive to logic board cables. So it may not be the drive itself but the cable going from the drive to the logic board. Do the same as above then if the system runs OK with the new drive connected externally install it in the system and see if it boots. If it does you are good to go. If it doesn't then it is more then likely the cable that hs failed.
I would suggest you also SAVE a copy of that download of Mt Lion and create a USB install drive from it using Lion Disk Maker, once you get your system up and running.

  • Usb port not recognizing external drive

When I plug my external backup drive, Lacie, into either USB ports on my MacBook Pro, it is not recognizing the drive. Not sure if I powered down incorrectly. It use to recognize it. Help.

Start by looking for the drive in the Apple System Profiler (from the Apple menu's far left Apple logo>About This Mac>More Info>Hardware (in left column) >USB.) If the drive is correctly powered and connected, it will show up here.
If it doesn't show up, the problem is with the drive. With the drive plugged in, put your ear to the drive and listen for the whirring sound the drive makes when it is powered up. If it isn't making any sound, ot's either a bad drive or a bad power supply.
If the drive is making sound , then the problem is probably the USB cable or your USB port. Try a different USB cable. This should fix the problem; if all the above tests were good and the drive still doesn't mount, it may be the USB controller in the Mac. That's a serious problem that requires repair or installation of an aftermarket USB controller.
    Hope this helps

  • MSI 787-G46 slowly boot and not load DVD drive after bios 1.6 beta2

I used bios version 1.5 without any problem. Now I loaded bios version 1.6 beta2 and when the PC starts at the lower right corner of the screen appeared the letters A2 for about 10 seconds, which was not. So I gave back 1.5 bios and the problem persists. I also found that it has the effect that the system does not load DVD drive.

Quote from: makac on 23-October-13, 12:40:18
In the new bios 1.6 beta 2 added item: Patch SATA driver detection issue and add item to control.
I do not know where it's set in bios, can not do this problem?
I was having similar issues with this bios after enabling RAID the hard drive BBS listed my drives multiple times and wont let you change the order, also trying to boot to the operating system would just display some EFI shell. I can only assume we will need to wait on another release for a fix.

  • Photoshop not recognizing graphics driver

I have a brand new Sony Vaio i7 core, 8 gig's of ram and 1Tb hd, and I get this message whenever I fire up Phontoshop: "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered. Say's I need 512Meg of Ram, but I have 8Gig's of Ram. The the message is followed by a pop-up that says the video driver may need to be updated, but I checked and it doesn't. It says it can't do 3d, I don't need it too, but it's annoying that it's not recognizing a driver on a brand new computer. Any ideas if there is a way to get this working properly? Thanks!

    There is no "Photoshop online".
What version of Photoshop are you using?
And the display driver message refers to bugs in your display driver, plus the requirements to have 512 Meg of VRAM (not RAM) on your video card to use the 3D features.
You need to update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website to pick up all the latest bug fixes. Updates from Microsoft are years out of date.

  • Dvd drive not recognizing dvds but recognizes all other disks

My dvd drive on my macbook will recognize cds both burned and retail. It will recognize mac formated (burned) dvds. But it will not recognize any other dvds. It burns in a non mac format (ie burning a linux ISO image). I was just watching a movie on here the other day with no problems.
    anyone have any thoughts?

    [Edit to above Post]
the DVD drive itself wasn't dead. It was a software based issue. Whether it was an OS issue or a installed software issue is undeterminted. I did a full backup and then reinstalled Mac OSX Lion and the issue was fixed. I do not know what software I installed unfortunetly.
    Hope this helps other people.

  • Dv9913cl Notebook not showing DVD drive in system or Device manager, and more

I recently reinstalled the operating system on my stepfathers Pavillion dv9913cl notebook because it was slow and old. After I reinstalled windows I installed all of the drivers from HP's website, and made sure windows was completly up to date. I checked to make sure things on the computer worked, but I forgot to check the DVD drive.
So today when he went to put in a DVD it did not work. I was not present when he and my mom first tried using it, but this is what they passed on:
After putting in a DVD it took a few seconds and then something(I couldn't get them to tell me what) popped up saying something about the DVD region. I couln't get a clear answer on what it told them. My mother said something about it being the wrong region and something about selecting things like US English, and I don't know how what actually popped up for them. I also don't know were this path took them and ended.
Next apparently my mother went searching online. She found a Ask Yahoo that I couldn't relocate that told her to go into help, about windows media player. Then to go to Organize, then layout and show menu bar. Then step two she wrote down is About Windows Media Player -> tech.supportinfo. Specific File to determin codec. Right click file in Library - Properties on file tab - Audio Codec/Video Codec. (I don't know what she was attempting to do here and couldn't get a straight answer. I think the ask yahoo post told her she couldn't play the type of file because of a missing codec, but I dont think that is the problem, I inlcuded what she did though incase somehow it did something bad)
She did some other searching and tried to get into device manager I think to see what it said about the DVD device, but I am not 100%.
**So this is the poiny where I come home. I sit at the computer and pull up device manager.  The DVD device is not listed. I looked at every single entry in device manager, nothing has an exclamation point, and nothing says DVD/CD device or anything close.
I went to HP driver website and pulled up the drivers for this laptop. There was not a particular driver there for the DVD player.
I resarted and went into the BIOS and went to the boot order options. The DVD drive does show up there. (I made no changes)
When I insert a DVD or CD nothing happens. I can hear the drive spinning, but nothing happens on the OS. nothing pops up. It doesnt show up in my computer, and I can't find the DVD or CD to play through any program.
I found this support article. https://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
I tried all 5 of the resolutions. For resolution 3 I got to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, but in the right pane there was nothing that said either UpperFilters or LowerFilters. When I did some searching I found some other people who had similar problems and fixed it by doing what is suggested in resolution 3 and deleting the entries for UpperFilters and LowerFilters, but they were never there for me to begin with.
Now I am at a loss on what to do next. It seems like when he first put the DVD in the computer it was recognizing the DVD since it said something about DVD region it must have known a DVD was in there, but I never saw that screen. By the time I got to the computer nothing happens when I put any DVD or CD in.
I apologize for the long post, and thank you for any help that can be provided. (Also I don't use Windows, so please try and explain things as layman as possible.)

    Hello RonFishing,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand the computer appears to be unable to play DVDs, and the required driver in Device Manager is not found. My response will not be as long as your post, but I will do what I can to assist you!
I do not know what Windows operating system you are running. This will be important in resolving the issue. In the meantime, I welcome you to try the steps in this HP document: Resolving DVD and Blu-ray Movie Problems (Windows 7)
Even though the document is for Windows 7, the steps are similar amongst all versions of Windows. Please try the steps and let me know the results.
Thanks for choosing the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Windows 8 does not recognize DVD drive on Satellite P775-112 - code 19

I have a Satellite P775-112 that was previously running Windows 7.
This weekend I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro RTM.
Following the upgrade, the DVD drive is no longer recognized.
In Device Manager the drive "MAT****A BD-MLT UJ240EF" has a warning symbol, and the Device Status in Properties is "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)".
I've tried everything I've found on the web without success:
    - Reinstall driver (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/cc772156)
    - Look for and remove UpperFilters / LowerFilters values in the registry (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060) : in my case they weren't present
I also tried connecting a USB DVD drive to my laptop - it failed with the same Device Status in Device Manager. Which suggests the problem isn't specific to my DVD hardware.
    Any suggestions welcome!
    Thanks

  • Tiger install not recognizing hard drive

G3 desktop/400MHz/512 MB RAM/20 GB Western Digital EIDE HD/ OS X 10.4 retail install DVD.
My friend gave me the aforementioned Mac, minus the HD which he kept, but with the 10.4 install disk. The computer was working fine before.
I had a blank NTFS-formatted HD to use in it, and from reading Mac forums I knew the Mac wouldn't recognize it, so I used a PC to format it in FAT32 before the install.
    Install Steps:
    1. Booted, holding down the C key.
    2. Selected English as the language, but didn't click Continue.
    3. Went straight to Disk Utility, and the only drive it shows is the DVD drive
and the DVD itself. System Profiler shows everything but the HD.
While installing the OS I reached the "Select a Destination Volume" step, and the HD is not listed. The "Options" button is greyed out as well.
I went to the Terminal option and typed in "df -k" as a friend suggested, then went back to the "Select a Destination Volume" step, but the drive is still not listed.
Thinking it could be the drive (which was Windows-formatted and found zero errors on) I popped in another drive, with the same results. I also replaced the IDE cable, to no avail.
All cables are seated properly and the HD is receiving power.
This is my first Mac since 8.1 and I had planned on using this one to refamiliarize myself with the platform before buying a high-end model, so I'm pretty much flying blind here.
Any ideas on how to get the HD recognized?

    Okay, a bunch of things.
The Blue & White model comes in different flavors. The Rev. 1 is very conservative about hard drives it will accept. I believe it was known as the "Heartbreaker"

If the drive isn't being seen at all then that's something fundamental since even a Windows drive should be seen in Disk Utility. Are the jumpers set correctly on the drive? You might need to take this particular question over to the hardware forum.

  • HP DVD Writer 740b not recognizing DVDs

My 740b will not recognize DVDs. I have no problems with CDs but any DVD I put in the tray isn't recognized. I initially thought the problem was with the DVD+R I was using but I also have a Slimline s3132w with a DVD writer installed and it burned and read the same discs with no problems. I tried several commercal DVDs (movies) and when I try to play them I get a no disc in drive error. I also have a Lite-On DVD SOHD-16P9S DVD ROM on the same system and have no problems what so ever playing the same discs. I have tried replacing the ATA data cables post attempting the trouble shooting tips given on the support web page. I have upgraded the firmware hoping this might alleviate the problem with no success. As I stated before this problem is only with DVDs, the drive has no problems what so ever with CDs. I have a feeling the problem my be with my updating to Windows XP SP3. I had done so before but removed it because my Linksys Wireless Adapter(PCI) wouldn't function with it installed. That problem has been repaired and now this. The system the drive is installed in is as follows:
     HP a1203w
                      cpu: Athlon 64 3800+ @ 2.2ghz
video: ATI 9550 w/256mb video memory
audio: Sound Blaster Audigy Z2S Platinum
             boot drive: Seagate ST340014A 40GB
    secondary drive: Seagate ST3250620A 250GB

OK chalk me up too to the list of users whose HP DVD Writer 740b cannot "see" blank DVD's and CD's.
Full marks to HP in that I am still smoothly running a Pavilion Media Centre PC EG211AA-ABG m7288a. I find the older plug compatablity useful and have beefed up RAM making it still a powerful "retro" media machine after all these years.....
However after a power failure caused a disk error that trashed my Windows XP and while it restored (as in full reset) like a trooper I took the opportunity to do a clean upgrade to Windows 7 (64bit) seeing as XP is no longer supported. And yes my HP DVD Writer 740b cannot detect blank DVD's and CD's although it can read those with content. It seems to be acting more like a CD ROM drive than a Read Write drive.
I have tried ALL the suggested fixes to no avail and yes my "shell detection" service is operational and on automatic.
But here's the rub as it were. My HP Support Assistant assures me that I have a HP DVD Writer 740b installed and running ED24 firmware. So I was hopeful when I found that there was an HP upgrade from the ED24 firmware (sp26595.exe - DVD-RW 16X HP DVD Writer 740b Drive Firmware Update ). HOWEVER even if I run it in XP compatable mode it returns the message that I do NOT have a HP DVD Writer 740b installed and therefore no upgrade is required.
The label on the front of the drive is "LightScribe DVD +/- Writer / CD-Writer".
Is the HP Assistant wrong in identifying it as an HP DVD Writer 740b? Also could the drive be getting confused thinking a blank disc is a lightscribe disc in upsidedown ready for printing? I have to try and find a way to reload the LabelPrint software (have the LSS) that was lost when I upgraded to Windows 7. Probably can't retrieve it from the old XP recovery disk.
Any NEW thoughts (especially as to why firmware upgrade does not see the drive) most wrlcome as apart from this one little thing the Pavilion is performing like a trooper and is an excellent advertisement for the durability of HP products (which is why we brought 3 HP laptops as well.
    Hopeful thanks in advance.
