Win7 Pro x64 bootcamp install fail

I have created a partition using the Bootcamp assistant. (I had problems creating this at first but repaired the permissions and the disk in disk Utility and the partition created fine).
I'm trying to install Windows 7 Pro x64 (from MSDNAA) to my newly created Bootcamp partition (65Gb). The install runs fine until after the restart at the point where the on-screen dialog is "Completing Install". At this stage after a few minutes the laptop freezes and the install never finishes. I have to then hold the power button to gain control of the laptop again and start the process from scratch. I have tried two different CDs of the same OS and the process around 6 times with no luck. I have also tried removing the Windows CD after the first restart has stated on another forum.
Thanks I hope someone out there knows a fix.

Thanks the Hatter but this didnt work unfortunately, i burnt a new copy at lowest possible speed 4x. I cant find any recent information about it. Any more ideas? This is the 64bit version as i want to use all the RAM
Much appreciated

  • Can't install LR 3.3 on new Win7 Pro x64

Have a new Win7 Pro x64 computer (clean OS install) and trying to install LR 3.3.  No problem downloading from Adobe and installer tries, but hangs on error 1935 before complete installation.  Tried redownloading application with same install result and error code.  Also, disabled virus protection and no other apps were running except explorer which was connected to Adobe site.  Any thoughts?  Anybody else have this problem?
An update:  I contacted Adobe techical support about this problem (on line chat) and they were able to resolve the issue.  All that I can see that was done by tech support (who was controlling my screen remotely) was to download .NET 4 from Microsoft and install it on my OS.  After that, LR installed OK.  Problem fixed, even though I don't really know exactly how.  Thanks TECH SUPPORT !!

I am pretty sure Lightroom is not included in the Creative Suite. That would explain why the serial number doesn't work. You won't be able to purchase LR 3 from Adobe. That would have to be LR 5.2. You may be able to find LR3 available on ebay or somewhere but I'd recommend getting the latest. Of course you may then encounter compatiblity issues going between LR and CS5 as there will be a camera raw inconsisency. You either need to render your LR changes before going to Photoshop or you will need to upgrade your CS5 which means going to the Cloud version. To complicate things the Could version of the suite DOES include LR. So if you are going that route don't buy LR separately.

    Hey,
Please ensure that you are logged in as administrator and anti-virus is disabled while installing Acrobat.
Let me know the link from where you are trying to download Acrobat.
Please try downloading from a different browser and check.

  • XP mode on Win7 Pro x64, windows xp update/svchost pushes CPU to 100% in virtual machine.

Installed xp mode on a win7 pro, dell 490 with xeon cpu. The install goes without error, win xp virtual machine loads nicely, I do not enable updates at the config during 1st startup. When Automatic update is enabled later control panel shows svchost is
pushing the cpu to 100% and the update never completes.

    Hi,
    1. try to run XP in safe mode by F8
    2. then change Automatic update service to Manual or Disable.
3.boot XP into normal mode and see weather its still 100%.
    thanks
How do you start safe mode when running XP Mode in Win 7?  When you start XP Mode, the BIOS is hidden.  By the time the XP Mode window comes up, its already loading the Windows desktop.

  • Win7 Pro x64 and iTunes - poor performance

    Hi all
I'm running iTunes on Win7 Pro 64bit, and iTunes is terribly slow when I connect either my iPHone 3Gs or my iPad.
Last night it hung using 14% of the CPU (i7, so plenty of power, far more than iTunes should need) for more than 10 minutes, so I cancelled the sync on my iPad.
I removed all the Apple software on my PC, and was installing the 64bit version again (same as last time), when I noticed that the installer sees the 64bit version as 32bit. I'm not sure if this is related, but I thought I'd mention it.
Is anyone else having this problem with 64bit? Any solutions that anyone is aware of?
    Any help appreciated.
    Alex

That's a blast from the past. (The bulk of my troubleshooting on the nVidia Windows 7 bug was about a year or so ago ... then a lot of PCs started shipping with the hotfix preinstalled and reports of the nVidia chipset thing pretty much died out.)
Strange though ... although your symptoms are actually more consistent with the nVidia thing than the P55 thing, that particular hotfix only used to affect nVidia chipsets rather than the Intel P55s. I wonder what's going on?
Ah well ... if it works, it works. Fingers crossed for an end to the trouble.

  • Partition Redundancy for Win7 Pro x64 T400

My laptop came with 4 partitions: a 1.37 GB partition with no name and no file system listed on computer management, C: which is a 137 GB partition with NFTS file system, D: is 9.77 GB and same type as C: and a partition named SERVICEV003 using up 1.46 GB.  I have recently just upgraded from my Vista Home Basic x86 to Windows 7 Professional x64.  Do I still need these partitions since I`ve just upgraded my system?  When I saw these partitions in Vista, I assumed it was for Rescue and Recoery.  I can`t install Rescue and Recovery anymore on the new OS so I don`t use it.  Since I don`t use it (and if these partitions are used for R&R), can I just delete these partitions?

I deleted those partitions during the Win 7 Pro 64 install.  (Using retail Win 7 upgrade DVD)
FYI, though, you can install R&R 4.3 in Win 7.  I just did that.  Burned rescue CD + DVD+R DL full image of my HD with it.  Put in a different HD (fully zero'd out) and restored.  The restore was a little strange,  perhaps because the new HD didn't have any partition table (known issue with some other R&R versions) but worked the 2nd try.  Booted to a fully functional W7 pro 64 on the new HD.
Nice to have the backup media to do a restore without having to install vista first then Win 7 - which would be required if using the upgrade media for a recovery/restore IIUC.
I made the image after running the initial windows update and TVSU so it's a nice base restore image.  The full drive image fit on a single DVD DL + 2 CDs.
YMMV, but it worked well for me.

  • Bootcamp Install Fails - Does not Reboot

    Hi,
When installing windows7 64bit via usb using bootcamp, it is successful at partitioning, but does not reboot when necessary.  No message is displayed indicating that bootcamp failed.  When I manually restart the OS, it simply restarts in OSX.  Why am I having this problem? And how can I manually force it to resume?
    Thanks,
    Domenic

I should also mention, I have a 3rd hard disk with Windows XP installed (all of these are internal in the MACPRO). The same thing is now happening there as I have just checked. The Bootcamp control panel does not instigate to boot into Mac OS X either. So how can I get this control panel to write to the EFI (if this is what it is called?) to boot into the correct selected partitions? I should also mention I can see the Windows 7 and the The Windows XP respectively displayed in there. But I cannot get to boot into either of those either by selecting them from this control panel. It is stuck booting into it's own OS disregarding my selection. I don't think it is 'talking' to the EFI anymore and writing what it should to it (or to bootmgr or something)? What can I do in this case?
What does bootcamp.exe actually do? If I could delete the current list it has stored and get it to rescan even though everything is exactly the same, just reinstalled Mac OS X by erasing the partition on the main drive, which I'm guessing this is why Bootcamp.exe does not write the appropriate command to boot into my OSes?

  • Windows 8.1 bootcamp install fails at NVIDIA Driver Installer

I've been trying to install windows 8.1 natively w/ boot camp on my Macbook Pro Retina, 15", Mid-2012 8gb Ram 2.3GHz.
I had a few issues with partitioning and everything, but eventually got the point where the windows installer ran, allowed me to create my sign in, etc. Then it guided me through the quick boot camp installer for windows. Once this finished, a small window appeared stating to be the NVIDIA Driver Installer. This remained on the screen for a few moments, and then the screen went black and remained so permanantly. On a cold restart and reboot to the Windows drive, it starts right back up in to this black screen. I've already tried to clean install Windows 8.1 again, same problem.
    Thanks for your help!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you can use Wi-Fi before installing the Boot Camp drivers, I recommend you to install the most recent NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA website first > http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/73784
The Boot Camp installer installs an older version, so if you are having problems, it is better to install the most recent version, so the NVIDIA driver installation step will probably be skipped.

    Anyhelp ASAP is appreciated.

    No Srini,
I opted to create a starter database as part of the installation.
The error occurs "during installation" while trying to do the database configurations.
(I did try once without installing and configuring the Loopback adapter (With and without plugging into the network).
Later I read some of the problems with DHCP and installed/configured the Loopback adapter.
Then tried Installing Oracle 11gR2 (With and without plugging into the network)
But end up getting stuck at the same Net Configuration Assistant failure).
    Any advise ?
By the way, thanks for the support.

  • Long loading Win7 SP1 x64 after installing the driver

    Good day!
Installed on a laptop Lenovo IdeaPad B570 59329770 (59-329770) operating system Windows 7 SP1 x64, then started to put the drivers from the disc that came in the kit and noticed that much longer to boot the system and not only greatly increased the time off the computer. In the system messages of this inhibition is written. Through trial and error, found that a driver card reader. Once the driver is removed - the system again loaded quickly. Driver is removed and the unit is now and hangs unidentified, but the system does not boot for a long time (start or shutdown for about three minutes.)
Has anyone encountered similar? How to decide? Pay attention to the operating system.

Windows usually makes a restore point before installing drivers.
So the simple fix to get rid of the bad one...
Repeatidly tap F8 over and over at startup... that will take you to the Optional startup menu.
I would choose StartUp Repair .. which will tak you to another window...
There I would use System Restore and choose the restore point that was made before the bad driver was installed.

  • Bootcamp install failed

Just tried installing Windows XP through Bootcamp and the installation froze when I got the option to press enter to install Windows or Quit etc. I had to power down because the keyboard was not allowing me to input anything. When I restarted, I got a black screen with a message saying insert bootable disk. I restarted, holding down option and it then gave me an option to boot from my Mac system disk which I did and all seemed OK. I then decided to restore the Windows partition back to a single Mac partition and again, everything seemed OK and when I rebooted, it booted up as a Mac, however, today, I've just booted up and got the black screen asking for a bootable disk again!
I realize that my problem may have been that I tried installing from a full windows installer disk SP1 and the recommendations are SP2 minimum.
My problem is the black screen with 'insert bootable disk', why would I keep getting this message if I've destroyed the Windows partition?
    Many thanks
    Mark
PS. I vowed never to install Windows on my Mac, but my PC laptop packed in!!!

    no problem!
I've been trying hard to squeeze windows onto my imac for the last week or so. What error did you get when you tried to boot into windows?
Back up everything and try it again if you want - follow the normal steps using bootcamp assistant.
When in the windows xp blue setup part - make sure you format the bootcamp drive NTFS (not quick). If you don't get that option let me know as I'm working on a guide for getting around that problem.
After you've formatted the drive and it still doesn't work - i'll get back to you with the finished guide.
    let me know

firefox freezes in gmail. Asked to stop script ans still not responding for a long time. It also freezes when try to scroll using scroll bar. I uninstalled Java, but still happening.

    Hi skjoedt,
I saw your post regarding the random freezes on your computer. The problem is that your computer wasn't designed for Windows 7 and you are most likely experiencing a driver conflict. Your best bet to avoid the freezing would be to go back to Windows 8.
    Thank you,

I have already tried deleting both partitions on drive D, even deleting the System Reserved partition. I created a bran new partition on Drive D and tried to install again but I received the same error.
