Win7 recovery without recovery disks

Being a bit of a fool i ignored the "make backup disks" prompts.
Ive deleted the original windows 7 install in favour of windows 8 but after finding issues with playing certain games in win8 i would like to be able to put win7 back on it
My hard drive still has the recovery partition but pressing f11 at bios screen does nothing
is there anyway to recover my pc back to the original setup without recovery disks?

Hello Dundeemanny:
Sorry you need to use recovery disks and I belive F-10 or F-12 are recovery keys. It will tell you in the blue window when you first turn on your computer. When you installed Windows 8 it wipes out everything. That was why you had issues playing games. Because it wiped out your orginal drivers. HP hasn't developed the drivers for windows 8. I hope you made a set if not they do not cost much from HP's Parts store. The ones you get from store have every thing more disks come with the set. F-2 is bios F-8 is safe mode. Please click on Kudos if this resolves your issue. Thank you frrw.

  • HP Pavilion Dv6 7078CA Recovery without recovery disc

Hello!! i have an Hp Pavilion Dv6 - 7078ca, and after just 6 months of use, the Hard Drive just died.
because i live in Brazil, and brought the Computer back home, i couldnt use the warrant, since the warrant is for canada only.
so i changed by my own the HDD for one on the exact same model that it had, but for my surprise, when i used the recovery media that i had made, the DVDs were corrupted, so i coudnt recover it using the recovery media.
I tried to install the windows 7 home premium (the same that came with the notebook), but there was some hardware incompatibility, so i couldnt install the drivers of it.
and the worst problem is: i cant even order other recovery media, because even if i ask them to deliver in some friends house in Canada, so this friend ships for me, HP canadian website dont accept international credit card.
so, my question is, anyone know if i am able to restore my computer without this recovery medias? if yes, how can i do that?
    thanks!!

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion dv6-7078ca Entertainment Notebook Computer. According to the specs, this model shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed at the factory. Here is the HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your computer.
You can use the information in this HP forum thread entitled "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download, create the media, and install Windows 7 Home Premium using the Windows product key on bottom of your computer. Please note that this will not restore any of the HP "value-added" that originally come installed on your computer.
If you have any issues installing Windows, please post back. If, after Window is installed, you have missing and/or unknown device listed in the Windows Device Manager... please provide the "Hardware Ids" of the devices.

  • Windows 8.1 recovery without recovery disc or product key

    Hey!
I own a HP g6-2207sg. After windows 8.1 upgrade and a new set of AMD drivers windows is not starting anymore.
Not in safe mode, not with different starting settings. Recovery points are not working, from 3 restore points (2 automatic 1 critical update (win8.1)) none is working.
I can neither refresh nor reset windows, nor can windows repair the startup (it fails as well).
I dont have my win8 product key, as it is not in or on the g6 and i never read it out when the laptop was still working.
I tried reading it out with the help of several 3rd party tools through command prompt, started from a usb stick, which is not working as there are windows functions missing.
I cant download a fresh .iso of win 8 from windows itself as i dont have the key.
Please help, i dont know what to do anymore and i need my computer for work.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The Windows 8 Image source does have a download limit in place, but it will usually work if you keep trying for a couple of hours.  The key will be automatically read from the bios during installation.
I'm not aware of any way you can decipher the encrypted key via the command shell - only from reading its entry from the registry.
Unfortunayely, as with previous operating systems, neither Microsoft or HP will have any record of this key.
Another option would be to order a replacement set of Recovery Discs starting on the link below.
    Order HP Recovery Discs.
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

  • Data recovery after crash disk

    Hello again,
Last week I posted a question concerning the error message folowing the Hardware test.
It was bad sign and I had to take my computer to the Apple service.
The intern disk had to be replaced and they told me that they can't recover the date ( not in theyr shop)
How works the data recovery once the disk is out of the computer ? Is there necessarily a "white room" process wich is very expensive ?
Sorry for this, certainly, stupid question, but I'm not very good in computers ...
Thank you again for your answers !
    Cheers
    Carmen

    Thank's for your answer.
I know it is more than recomended to backup constantly.
I did so until last february so all my data isn't lost, but for 4 month my external drive was turn off ( can't remember why I did this ) and just before the crash I started a backup wich didn't work ( or rather turned for at least 12 hours but , aparantly didn't save anything, if this is possible...)
The question was , is there any way to rescue something without going bankrupt

  • If you enter your password on the ipad too many times and your sim card locks, is there a way of recovery without replacing the sim card?

If you enter your password on the ipad too many times and your sim card locks, is there a way of recovery without replacing the sim card?

That doesn't lock the SIM card, it just locks you out of the device.
If you forgot (or don't know) your passcode, restore the device from backup on the last computer it was synced with when the passcode was turned on... this will remove the passcode. If you do not have access to the last computer it was synced with, you will have to force it into recovery mode & restore as a new device.

  • How to wipe my computer without recovery DVD?

I want to wipe my computer because I cant figure out what is wrong with it and why it wont connect to my hotel's wireless internet.
I am on my other laptop right now and it connects just fine to the hotel's internet. I have never wiped a computer out with Vista and I have tried system restore like 50 times but it wont do a full restore. I am 6 hours away from home and my recovery discs are there.
Does anyone have an idea what I can do or is there another way to wipe my computer without the discs? Im not sure when I am going home and I really need my Toshiba to work.
    Thanks
    Nikki

    Hello Nikki
Can you please tell me which Toshiba notebook model do you have?
Anyway, you cannot have factory settings again without recovery DVD. What you can do is to install operating system using original Microsoft installations CD/DVD and later install all drivers, tools and utilities additionally but it can be complicated if you don't have experience with it.
Maybe you should explain to us what your problem is exactly.
I cannot imagine there is some big problem with WLAN. If the WLAN card is listed and installed properly (check it in device manager) all you must do is to enable WLAN card properly. At first enable WLAN switch the WLAN LED must be ON. Then use FN+F8 key combination and enable WLAN card.
If there is everything OK you should be able to connect to the WLAN. The principle is the same as in WXP. Click on START > Connect to and be sure your favourite WLAN is listed there.

  • X41 Recovery without CD

    I have a lenovo x41 tablet PC.
What I have to do to restore my computer to its original factory settings without recovery CD?
According to user manual I have to press IBM button when message appears during startup and select recovery options.
But the problem is there is no mention about recovery in this menu. There are 2 options only F1 for BIOS and F12 for boot source selection.
Special partition for recovery is present on the HDD and hidden (never changed).
    BIOS settings by default.

I don't know if the R&R repair diskette applies in your case, but it's worth a try. It will reenable the F11 prompt for ThinkVantage R&R. The diskete is available here.

  • How To Make a Clean Recovery using Recovery disc

For solving  problems related to recovery from recovery discs you have to follow the steps below.
You need a windows 7/8 dvd(or by a bootable pendrive with  win7/8),and your windows recovery discs for complete restoration.
Step1:insert win7/8 dvd and restart your pc.Enter the boot menu and select cd/dvd option to boot from dvd(for bootable pendrive, select that option).
Step2:After windows have loaded the windows files, click on install win7/8.
    Step3:select custom installation
Step4:Now you will get a window with your harddisk partions.Click on Advanced option in the bottom of the table showing partition list.
Step5: Delete all partions for obtaining a single drive.
Step6:After deleting all partitions, you will get a single partition showing your harddisk size.Click on that drive and then select 'new' from bottom options.
Step7:Then windows will show a warnig.Click on 'YES'.And dont make any change to partion size and proceed.
Step8:After doing this you will get a 100mb system reseved memory and rest of your harddisk size as a drive. Then close the installation window.Restart you pc with windows 7/8 recovery disk. And follow the steps for recovery in recovery media.
Then the installation will complete without any errors. And you can have the OS as per the recovery media have.
    good luck..
If youtry to recover directly it won't work all the time.
    So Kindely do as above
Please click on the White  KUDOS STAR at the left of this post as a sign of thanks giving.

The preinstalled HP Recovery manager would still work.

  • In Lion, how would a user REPAIR disk without a disk to boot from?

In Lion, how would a user REPAIR Disk without a disk to boot from?  It's cool to download Lion from App Store, but I think they need to solve how they will repair disk without optical disk to boot from.  I have had to repair disk in with the disk utility around 5-10 times in the past.

    Kappy wrote:
No doubt, but who's going to delete their installer?  That would be a tad stupid don't you think?
Well it should be stupid, but people do it anyway not realizing it's importance later when something goes wrong.

I guess we shouldn't forget the recovery partition.  But why confuse the issue.
That does confuse the issue, a bootable DVD is for installing the operating system after a hard drive replacement, which also will include the recovery partition.
Recovery parititions are a great idea for Windows as it fails often, but hard drives fail more often in Mac's than the operating system.

  • How to rebuild OS, without installation disk(s)?

I recently purchased a Mac Pro.  It did not come with a restore installation disk.  If I needed to rebuild my OS, how do I do it without installation disks?

Restart with the Option key held down and use the preloaded recovery partition. If that becomes unavailable, the computer will download a new one from Apple's servers.

  • I'm having a small problem when trying to restore my macbook to the factory settings without the disk

Hey, everyone. Just a quick question. I know that to reset a macbook to it's factory settings without the disk you press the OPTION key during startup; however, when you do so, apparently you see 2 hard drives and one says "recovery." When I do it, I only see one hard drive that does not say recovery. Any one know why this could be? Thanks so much for any help offered.

I have 10.8 installed on this computer...I know it didn't come with it, it came with Snow Leopard....Anyway I've updated it, and when I boot if I press and hold the Option key, it still just boots off the drive.  The only way I can get it to spring to life and do anything else is to press and hold Command + R in which case it then goes to the recovery option with the ability to restore OS X...Am I missing something??
