Win7 wmp dups and itunes ??

Hi..I didnt think I was an idiot but I do now, I cant seem to seperate itunes from win media player in win 7 on my new laptop.
I dont want all those dup's in win media player like that.
I tried to move itunes file but its just not working for me I guess im clueless as to how to move the files and what files to where, even when I set itunes to new locale it wont work, it dup's files to wmp still.
I removed itunes twice now and just keeps happening.
This is irritating me enough to trash itunes, my old desk top isnt going to live forever and I wanted this on my new win 7 machine but not if its this big of a pia. (my husband uses wmp and I use itunes its too confusing all messed together.)
Any help appreciated I guess you better explain it carefully Im stupid all of the sudden! Thanks in advance

More on letting iTunes & Windows Media Player live happily together.
Using *Edit > Preferences > Advanced* take a note of the location of your *iTunes Media* folder, here for example I have my library living at the root of my H: drive. I choose to organise my files manually but generally recommend setting the *Keep iTunes Media folder organised* option to others as it requires less housekeeping. Having *Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library* set often encourages unnecessary duplication but the choice is yours. If letting iTunes manage files then move your imports into the *Automatically add to iTunes* folder, otherwise arrange them to your taste within the iTunes Media folder before manually adding them to the library.
On the *Preferences > General* tab set your import settings to mp3 with a sample rate to suit your taste and the capacity of your devices.
In Windows Media Player use *Library > More Options > Rip Music* to set WMP's rip folder to *<iTunes Media Folder>\Music*. Set the format to mp3 and choose your quality settings. Disable the *Rip when CD inserted option* so you can choose whether to rip with WMP or iTunes.
On the Library tab make sure the highlighted check boxes are not ticked. This prevents WMP from automatically updating files and moving them about which can confuse iTunes. With both programs sharing the same media folders you should also take care when deleting tracks from one library that you don't accidentally delete the files if they should be left for the alternate library.
WMP is able to detect when media has been moved from one location to another (providing it is monitoring the target folder) so you can move any music that is currently organised in your main <User>Music folder into your iTunesiTunes MediaMusic folder and WMP will reconnect to it. You can then add those folders that you want to into iTunes without creating duplicates. Of course you may have already duplicated some material so you'll need to consider this before deciding what to move around and what to delete.
Existing WMA or AAC files in each library can be set out in the same folder structure accessible only to the WMP or iTunes libraries respectively or you can opt to convert them to a common format when the need arises.

• Win7 Pro x64 and iTunes - poor performance

Hi all
I'm running iTunes on Win7 Pro 64bit, and iTunes is terribly slow when I connect either my iPHone 3Gs or my iPad.
Last night it hung using 14% of the CPU (i7, so plenty of power, far more than iTunes should need) for more than 10 minutes, so I cancelled the sync on my iPad.
I removed all the Apple software on my PC, and was installing the 64bit version again (same as last time), when I noticed that the installer sees the 64bit version as 32bit. I'm not sure if this is related, but I thought I'd mention it.
Is anyone else having this problem with 64bit? Any solutions that anyone is aware of?
Any help appreciated.
Alex

That's a blast from the past. (The bulk of my troubleshooting on the nVidia Windows 7 bug was about a year or so ago ... then a lot of PCs started shipping with the hotfix preinstalled and reports of the nVidia chipset thing pretty much died out.)
Strange though ... although your symptoms are actually more consistent with the nVidia thing than the P55 thing, that particular hotfix only used to affect nVidia chipsets rather than the Intel P55s. I wonder what's going on?
Ah well ... if it works, it works. Fingers crossed for an end to the trouble.

• I got a new acer pc with Win7 64-bit and itunes download won't open, it says 'This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid win'

I've tried to download Itunes and itunes for 64-bit using mozilla firefox and internet explorer, even deleted the browsing history and closed and tried to dowload again and tried download quicktime separately, but nothing seems to work.

Try right clicking on the installer and select run as administrator.

• Where are my books!? Sync-ed iTunes 10.6.3.25 on Win7 with new iPad3 WiFi/3G and iTunes shows (on my PC) that I have 590 "ebooks" (PDF's

Not to repaet myself, but... where are my ebooks?
I sync-ed iTunes 10.6.3.25 on Win7 with new iPad3 WiFi/3G and iTunes shows (on my PC) that I have 590 "ebooks" (PDF's & a few epub's) on my iPad, but for the life of me I can't seem to get to them on the iPad3 itself. If I open iTunes on the iPad3 it only shows a bland grey screen with a link to the "iTunes Stores Terms and Conditions…"? And my iBooks is empty, so is Acrobat Reader which I installed?
What gives? Gulp… help!?

That is troubling!
I downloaded the Kindle app on my iPad1 tonight, logged into my Amazon.com account and was able to download the books I had bought on my Kindle to my iPad! I am a VERY HAPPY CAMPER!

The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your other library/computer, or your backup copy, to your new library/computer

• Error 0xE800000A on iTunes 10.1 Win7 Ultimate 64bit and iPhone 3GS 4.1

Since I updated to 10.1 I'm having the above error when connecting my iPhone for syncing. iPod Classic 160Gb and the new iPod Nano 16Gb work fine.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes 3 times now but had no luck.
Each time I connect the iPhone the first time after reinstalling, Win7 correctly load and install the drivers (and I can find the usbaapl64.sys file in the system32/driver directory) but immediately iTunes tells that "couldn't connect to the iPhone because of an unknonwn error (0xE800000A)"
Anyone has this issue?
Thanks for any help

• ITunes not starting (Win7 64bit) (iTunes 10.3.1 and iTunes 10.6)

I use to have iTunes 10.3.1, then I uninstalled it and now I tried to get it back but when I installed it again and now it won't open. No error message, NOTHING. I went to TaskManager and iTunes, I will watch under Processes and it will just cut off for NO reason.
I tried, before it cut off, setting the Priority to 'Realtime' but that didn't work, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't work either! Now under Programs to uninstall iTunes isn't even on the list, so I can't unistall and reinstall because it won't let me unistall

Install "QuickTime Player 7" It worked for me!!!!!

Have you repaired QuickTime? If you have done so and still having problem with iTunes, you will have to uninstall everything and reinstall from scratch.
Try following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website, Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

• Help with Apple IDs and iTunes please

One family member has an iPad2 with one Apple ID that is authorized in iTunes on a Win7 laptop. That laptop has one Windows user account. Some apps, books, etc were purchased with that iPad2.
We recently got a hold of an old iPhone to use as an iPod Touch / super-mini iPad-Mini. Can I use a separate Apple ID for that iPhone on the same Win7 laptop in the same iTunes as above? So can iTunes (the program) on one computer be authorized for multiple Apple IDs? No apps, music, etc need to be shared.
Thank you!

If she doesn't have an iCloud account on her iPhone or iPad now, you can just go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with a different Apple ID to set up the new account, then turn on the data that you want to sync with iCloud. She can continue to use the same ID for the App and iTunes store; it doesn't need to be the same as the the ID she uses for iCloud.
If she is already sharing your iCloud account on her devices, you should go to Settings>iCloud on her phone, tap Delete Account (which only deletes the account from her phone, not from iCloud), when prompted choose Keep on My iPhone, then set up a new account by signing back in with a different Apple ID. Then turn on the data she wants to sync with iCloud, and when prompted, choose Merge to upload her data to the new account. After doing this on her phone, go to Settings>iCloud on her iPad, tap Delete Account, when prompted choose Delete from my iPad, then sign into the new account just created on her phone using the new ID and turn on her data syncing to sync the iCloud data in the new account to her iPad. Finally, if you have any merged data in your accounts from sharing the original account, you'll need to go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into each iCloud account separately and delete the data you don't want from each account.

• Itunes says that 5 computers are already authorized to be used with my account when trying to play music that will not sync to my Ipod, but when I go to deathorize all in the store, it says only one is authorized. If I deathorize in the store and Itunes

10 GB of the 30 GB of music on my computer will not sync to my Ipod. This started after I got a new PC w/ windows 7 on it. All of the music, that will not sync, is music I bought and paid for through Itunes. When I go to the Itunes store it says I have only 1 computer authorized (the one I am on). When I try to play the music that is not getting synced, it says that 5 computers are already authorized. I have tried deathorizing the computers from Itunes and Itunes store. I have also tried deauthorizing the account. I am getting the same result. I have tried DRM stripping software but all seem to need Itunes or WMP to play the music in order to be re recorded without the DRM. In my mind there must be some simple way to really get the computers deauthorized from my account and be able to play the music that I paid apple for. Does anyone have any suggestions or is this common for apple,s products to do?

In order to get those to work you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
and in the UK:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard, preferably the full 10.6.8 combo updater.

• TS1538 iPod Touch 5g reognized by Win7 but not latest iTunes despite trying all recomendations on support site

What I don't understand is when I first purchased and connected there was no problem, only after a reset (because I thought I was going to sell the device) did I have this problem. AND the iPod Touch asks if I trust this computer to which I say yes, but still not seen in iTunes. REallly stumped on this. In the past I had hooked it up to another computer running xp and iTunes worked , but not with WIN 7. When I connected to a friends Mac Book, iTunes sees the ipod Touch, which rules out the problem being with the iPod Touch or the cable. So I'm wondering what the work around is for iTunes running on Win7

Iphone 4 (IOS 7) is not detected by computer and itunes.
I am the 2nd owner of this iPhone 4. I did all the troubleshooting said in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 but nothing resolved it.
Troubleshooting I did:
1. Used other iphone / ipod devices, it worked but not my iphone 4.
2. Used different Windows OS and different computer, Win7 & Win8, still not detected.
3. Used different USB cables, still not detected. But my current USB cable is working with other iPhone/iPod devices.
3. Uninstall / Install iTunes, still not detected.
4. There is no "X" in the device Manager, and also, portable devices is not showing upon plugging in the device.
5. Made sure that the Apple Mobile Service is running.
6. I only have iPhone devices, so I don't have any 3rd party Software conflicts.

• I have win7 64 bit, and when I tried installing the new update, it failed. I tried reinstalling and still no joy. I have attempted this several times. This is first time experiencing this. Is there a fix in the works?

I have Win7 64 bit and when I tried to install the latest I-Tunes update it failed and told me to reinstall. I attempted the reinstall and got the same result. I have attempted this several times already even after following the recommendations from Apple website to correct this problem. I have installed numerous updates for I-Tunes and this is the first one to fail. Is there a fix in the works from Apple for this? I believe the update is flawed and should be re-evaluated by Apple and this update re-issued with different version #.

• HT1364 I followed this tutorial and iTunes moved my music to the specified directory on another drive, but now it doesn't show up in library. Files are all there.

I'm using Vista 32 bit and itunes 9. Don't want to upgrade to latest version.
I made the transfer with the help of itunes, but now the music while in the new directory itunes doesn't recognise it.
Any guesses?
Thanks

Solved my own problem.
Actually, I just selected all and dragged into Itunes. Didn't work at first, butsince then has worked great. I have transferred approx 58Gb. of music. I also searched through 5 other HDD's and have just put all of my music on all itunes.
I then purchased the software "tuneup media". It is currently de-dupe'ing and fixing all the mis-labeled songs.
This is the problem with newsgroups. People name stuff whatever they want. Hope this helped you.

• Assorted Problems with iPod Nano 4th gen and iTunes

So i am currently experiencing several problems. Let me break it down so that it might help you understand what's going on.
#1 When dragging music files to my ipod in itunes, an error message popped up stating some sort of file reading/writing error, i forgot exactly what it said.
#2 iPod starts randomly reseting itself when it changes to a new song. sometimes reseting itself right after the main menu comes back up. It also does this while connected to my JVC KD-AVX44 stereo in my car via USB and while listening normally by headphones.
#3 I tried restoring it in itunes, after the restore software was downloaded, an error message appeared stating that the ipod could not be restored.
#4 itunes begins to not recognize iPod
#5 itunes freezed when brought up, still not recognizing the ipod.
#6 itunes crashes? It came up with a window asking for an itunes library to continue, selected just "my music" instead, no files labeled .itl in that. clicked cancel, itunes dosn't come back up.
I'm hoping there's something simple that i'm missing here, can anyone help?

I think i'll try reinstalling itunes tonight, i tried using some of the tips in these articles to reinstall my usb drivers etc, as i still can't get my ipod to restore. apple store will be the next step.

Also, (common question) what's the easiest way to get music into your itunes library automatically if downloading from another source. i just dragged all my previous music from "my music" when i got the nano, i'd just been using WMP before. and i can't seem to find a way to automatically have itunes pick up this stuff. kind of a pain in the behind to drag it all.
