Is Adobe planning support for Win8/Metro environment in FB 4.7? Win Mobile?

FB 4.7 will support Win 8 for web applications running in metro and Classic modes. Win mobile apps will not be supported.

Microsoft made many changes between the original preview and the current preview, so what worked in the earlier version may not work in the current one, and vice versa. Again, Apple's software is not yet supported in Windows 8 and almost certainly will not be until Win 8 is officially released, if then. You may be able to get the standalone installer to work, but if you can't, you'll just have to wait for a supported release, or take the issue up on a forum for the Windows 8 Preview and see if someone there can help you.

Where can I find the beta version with Windows 8 metro support?

I want to try out the old beta version of firefox which included a Metro / touch version for Win 8, however all I can find is a link to the source.
Is there an installer somewhere in the archives that I can just install instead of having to build the source myself?

Thanks James. I know support was dropped but there are archives of every beta version online so I'd like to download the latest version of the beta which had Metro support before it was dropped.

Adobe Air for win8 metro apps

Hi guys,
I might be a little early with the question, but actually its something which will bug us all at some point.
Windows 8 METRO apps.
On tablets the metro interface will not support the flash plugin on websites, so we cannot have flash apps on it unless we can really make metro apps (which I heard will only be available through the MS webstore? )
Is this then the same like when we now create an APK for android or a IPA for Iphone using flash cs5.5 ?
Is there any more information available on this apart from the message from Adobe that the THINK it will run ?

Portege M750 and Win8 - metro interface, and touchpad don't work

For those of you that, as myself, tryed to install windows 8 in a Toshiba Portege M750 and had problems in portrait tablet mode I recommend the following driver it works perfectly:

The problem I had was that swipe didn't work with metro interface, and touch didn't work also and in portrait, strangely, when you touch the secren two arrows with different directions woul appear.
This driver solved my problem.

How can i differentiate Nightly is opened in Metro or Desktop mode in javascript?

We are developing apps using Microsoft technologies. One of our app is required plugins support. In Win8 Metro mode won't support any plug ins. So, we want to detect it and ask the user to open it in Desktop mode. This detection is done through Javascript. We can able to detect for IE. How can we detect this for Nightly? Could you please provide a solution for this.

When I click on the Nightly Windows 8 Start Screen icon it opens the Firefox 18 on desktop, how do I open Nightly on Metro?

Nightly was working on metro at first when I haven't installed Firefox 18 yet but when I installed Firefox 18 and thought it would run on metro if I set it as a default program which did not, opening nightly both on the desktop and start screen would open the firefox in the desktop instead.
I uninstalled Nightly and downloaded and installed the version 20 for 32 bit. When I looked on the default programs to set Nightly all I could see is Nightly on the list but the icon has changed to that of Firefox's. I set it as default and still it doesn't open as metro.
Any ideas how to fix this?

This is because the regular central Nightly channel builds is only the desktop version. The version on Nightly development channel is at 21.0a1 now actually.
You need a build that has Metro support.

Windows 8.1 Metro Applications not functioning over VPN

Has anyone been able to resolve this in a corporate environment? We are not looking for loopback exemptions with fiddler, but rather a secure method to configure metro applications to use a proxy. If we manually set the proxy configuration, it

When I configure a pac file under automatic settings in Internet Explorer, websites load correctly both internal and external. When loading metro applications, internet connectivity fails. I've also noticed that
netsh winhttp show shows that I'm still configured direct connection.
If I open fiddler and enable exemptions for Win8 metro apps, they work fine, but of course this 1) blows security 2) makes it very difficult to manage, especially 3rd party apps.
Any ideas? Has anyone solved this? Every post I've looked at has very little response back from Microsoft as to a proper configuration for this. Thanks guys.

This is a continual problem indeed. As far as I know, there is still no a effective solution with APP network during some VPN connected.
While, Untill now, if you need to set proxy for Store APP separately, you can make setting through Group Policy.

Firefox 18.0 release does not have Metro support and 32-bit users may not be able to run development Metro builds of Firefox anyways.

Air apps on Microsoft Surface?

Microsofts challenge to the iPad is due out in mid October, which isnt that far away and we havent yet heard anything about getting Air apps on to it. Does anyone from Adobe want to comment?
It would seem a pretty good match. Microsoft needs quality apps for its new platform and if Air developers could just compile their exisiting iPad apps for Win8 Metro then I think a lot of people would do it (I would).
And technically it should be almost trivial given that Adobe and MS have already worked together on a version of the flash player for win 8 tablets.

For surface, developing a game and porting it as a Windows store app will suffice your requirement.A windows store app can be run on laptops,desktops and also surface running on Windows 8/8.1.Preferrably, try deploying your game as windows 8.1 store app
unity3d 4.3 supports this.
Keep in mind that you have to use 3D models with mobile diffuse(texture),which consume less memory while loading/progressing of the game.
Avoid using heavy GameObjects like terrain.Instead go for a plane.Terrains are not recommended by unity on mobiles.On a tab,it will work but with consumes more memory.
