WinAMP CD Rip and iTunes id3 problems

I ripped a couple CDs using WinAMP but no matter what I do iTunes keeps making up the Title tag in the library.
-iTunes sets the Title tag to "<Artist> - <Title>" for each song with the correct artist and title name (no quotes).
-ID3 tools like Tag&Rename see the proper tags no problem
-used MP3 Tag Remover to remove tags, deleted iTunes folder to get a fresh library, iTunes still sets the Title tag instead of just showing the file name as the title
My guess is WinAMP added some other kind of tag onto the mp3 that I'm failing to remove, any ideas? I tried ripping another cd with winamp but not allowing it to set id3 tags, no problems there before and after i used tag%rename to set the tags.
  Windows XP

WinAmp has horrific tagging, and I really recommend not using it for that purpose at all. If you must rip with WinAmp, then use Tag&Rename afterwards to completely retag the files. Tag&Rename makes good tags, WinAmp does not.
I use Tag&Rename anyway, because of its excellent Amazon.com lookup functionality. Easy way to get the album art.
BTW, if iTunes, for whatever reason, can't read the tag properly, then it uses the filename of the file in the Name field.

    Have you restarted your phone?
If so, try a reset. Press and hold the home & sleep/wake buttons until the screen goes blank, ignoring the power off slider if it comes up.
Check for the app again after the phone starts back up.

  • IPad, iCal and iTunes sync problem

Early last year, I posted (https://discussions.apple.com/message/18503738#18503738) that syncing between my iPad 3 and my Snow Leopard iMac behaved oddly.  AppleCare Support dweebs had failed to resolve the issue and no one on here managed to come up with any suggested fix.
However, for no apparent reason, the problem stopped and I stopped monitoring this august and highly esteemed forum and all went well ...
    ... until recently.
I sync via a USB cable and I do not use iCloud (as I'm on Snow Leopard) save for Find My iPad, all other iCloud options are switched off.  All other app syncing appears to work correctly, it is only iCal and Calendars that don't.
Just why things have started to go wrong now, probably in the last three or four weeks, I do not know but now the following syncing errors occur ...
    1) On the iPad: new appointments or changes to appointments made on the iPad are not synced to the iMac;
    2) On the iMac, changes to appointments already on the iMac are shown on the iPad as both the new and old timings/details, not as replacements;
    3) On the iMac, new appointments are made in the default (or last) calendar used.  These are then edited as required, with the details put in and, if necessary, calendars changed.  On the iPad, however, these will show as both "New event" in the default calendar and as the edited correct appointment, not just as the finalised entry;
    4) Appointments deleted from the iMac are not deleted from the iPad.
In other words, changes on the iPad are not synced across to the iMac and changes on the iMac are synced twice, once as the unedited appointment and once as the edited appointment - if an appointment is deleted it remains on the iPad.
When the original problem arose (similar but not identical) the Apple dweebs suggested deleting my iCloud account (not synced, used only for Find My iPad) but doing that this time does not remove the bug.
I'm running a 27" quad-core i7 iMac under MacOSX.6.8 (Build 10K549), iCal v4.0.4 (1395.7) and I sync via USB  and iTunes v11.0.2 (26).  The iPad is a 64GB 4G/wifi iPad 3, currently running under under iOS6.1.3.  To the best of my knowledge, all available updates have been applied to both devices.
I have deleted all calendars off the iPad by deselecting Calendars in iTunes' iPad tab, turned it off.  Swicthed off the iMac, Safe Booted and run OnyX full suite, I have then Single User booted, run fsck -fy three times then run applejack AUTO restart, then rebooted the iMac, rebooted the iPad, sync'd without Calendars then resynced with the Calendars selected again.
I had hoped that this would remove any cache files, temporary files, stuck RAM or whatever else could conceivably be causing this bizarre behaviour - to no bl**dy avail!  It is behaving exactly and frustratingly as before!
What on earth is going on?  if I can't use my iPad as my main calendar and add new appointments when out and about and have them synced properly and reliably to my iMac then the whole thing is a waste of time andI shall have to revert to a paper diary again!
HELP!!!!! Please, before I go mad with frustration!

I'm not sure whether getting no replies to this (or the earlier) query is something of which to be proud - or terrified!
Am I the only person in the world with this bizarre insoluble problem?  if so, why me?  Am I a Chosen One or, more likely, someone to be punished for a lifetime of misdeeds!
But there is progress.  I have no idea what happened at a technical level or why, but the matter has now resolved itself and things are syncing normally.  Until the next time!
Perhaps there is a clue somewhere in the following ...
I run my iMac 24/7 and thus I rarely close iCal on the iMac and when i do it is usually by accident.  The same applies to Calendars on the iPad, although I do reboot from time to time.
Anyway, I installed some software on the iMac which required a reboot and, as susual, iCal opened via Preferences > Accounts > Startup items - only this time I was presented with a perfectly blank calendar.  A message appeared, from within iCal (oh, how I wish i had noticed what it actually said) saying something along the lines of "importing calendars".  This took a little while and it wasn't instant - maybe it does this every time it reatrts but too fast for me to notice.
After this "import", if indeed that's what it was, the syncing was corrected!
Coincidence?  Cause and effect?  Magic?  Too many magic mushrooms for breakfast?
If that is what resolved the issue, then how can I cause an import deliberately for when the syncing goes astray again and just what does an "import" do that a normal launch doesn't and which might have resolved the glitch?
I have had this "import" message before, but very very rarely, so it may well have resolved the syncing issue last time and I just didn't make the possible connection.
Does that help anyone come to my rexcue with an explanation and, possibly, a strategy for preventing or deliberatly correcting syncing issues in the future?

  • Windows 7 and iTunes 9 - problem connecting to Airtunes to stream music

I have a new laptop with Windows 7 and iTunes 9. iTunes recognizes my Airport Express (AE green light lit, and shows up in lower right of iTunes when choosing which speakers to play), but I cannot connect - just hangs on "Connecting to User's Wireless Music Airport Express" (name of the Airport Express network added to my existing Wireless network). No error message. Thus, unable to listen to my music through my hi-fi stereo. It's killing me!
Tried a few things: disabling firewall, unplugging, resetting AND reconfiguring the AE, no luck.
Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks

Figured it out - just needed to add iTunes to 'trusted applications' in Kaspersky Antivirus/Firewall..
Simply launch Kaspersky > Settings > Threats and exclusions > Exclusions Settings > Trusted applications > Add > "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe > select all exclusions > OK.
Also added Airfoil and now able to stream Pandora through my stereo!

  • Major iphone os 3.1 and itunes 9 problem

Ever since updating to itunes 9 and 3.1 for my iphone i have been having syncing problems and I've had to restore my iphone almost every time, i get the error message (-6999) . I do a restore, start syncing a couple of songs and then i get that error message, then i disconnect and itunes makes me setup my iphone again after plugging it back in. Any help would be appreciated.........

    Hi Folks
Here is a fix for the iPhone 3.1 update that causes the handset to remains caught in a restore loop **.
With this fix you should not need to reinstall iTunes to a previous version either, though I have only tested it with Windows OS, the same principle should work.
When your phone is caught in the restore loop, which causes iTunes to continually ask you to reinstall your iPhone and then upon resorting it brings up an error, do the following.
Login to another user account that has access to iTunes (any version) and plug your USB connector into the iPhone.
iTunes will then indentify that there is a 3.1 update which you agree to download. You will then be asked to reformat the phone and install the update. Go through the process as it tried to do in the other user account, follow any prompts that iTunes asks and eventually you will return your iPhone to its factory settings.
Next, disconnect your USB and then log back into the main user account you have previously been using your phone with, load up iTunes again and then reconnect the phone.
iTunes will now scan for the phone and automatically (if you have a previous backup) reinstall from a previous backup, if no backup is available then simply restore.
Once this is complete you should be left with a fully updated and more importantly working iPhone.
I have had some issues with this process with direct regard to the backup, but after a few tries this process works fine.
    Hope this works for everyone.

  • IOS music library and iTunes syncing problems

    Hello,
Just wondering if the issues that have been bothering me for some time and with multiple recent iOS and iTunes versions are going to get fixed in the future?
Adding or removing music manually or automatically between iTunes and the iOS has resulted in the corruption of the music library on the iOS device several times and the solution to fix the problem is always to empty the device and to start over. For example today I noticed that the album art had disappeared from my music (a known issue) and I searched the forums for a solution. Well the solution is to empty all of the music from the device and upload it back again and the album art will be back. Great! Except the music got deleted and still the space in use is showing "other usage" for the exact size of my deleted music library. If I try to add some music it adds to the space of the mysterious occupied space and the device is soon full. Time to start from scratch again. The syncing is broken and the software is buggy and I'd like it to work flawlessly instead of starting from scratch every time I'm making any minor changes to my music library. I think the reliability of the software and the basic functions is more important than the ability for the phone to ring in the computer whenever I get a call. Which is pretty amazing in someone else's opinion I'm sure.
Oh yes and the iPad is not uploading updated apps to the iTunes automatically which it did some software versions ago (a known issue). This is annoying.

    Schpoiler,
I had the very same problem with you. I think the main reason for this happening is purchasing and downloading content with your phone. I don't know how it happens though, this seems the problem with me.
What I did is, I basically erased all content and settings from my iPhone and used my backup in my mac to install everything back again. After that, the "other usage" got really small in size and as I deleted all the songs by using syncing, I saw that music occupied no space in my phone. Then, I synchronized my music back again and now everything works just fine.

  • Safari and iTunes having problems accessing secure sites

I've been having problems with iTunes not being able to access the iTunes Store. I can browse the store but can not add anything to my shopping cart. I decided it was time to see if Safari was having problems with secure sites and sure enough I discovered that it can not access secure sites either. The only way I've been able to access secure sites is via Firefox.
A typical scenerio is that I can not log onto my Apple ID. As soon as I click on the "sign in ID" link I get a pop-up stating that a secure connection to store.apple.com can not be established.
So far I've tried clearing the Safari cache and deleting site keys from my stored key chains. Nothing helps.
    I'm running Safari 1.3.1 and iTunes 4.9.

    Can anyone help?

  • Informations and iTunes meta problems

    Hi,
I use Itunes with a Nas and have great experience since 2 years or more.
But since iTunes 12 I have a problem.
I suppose Itunes don't find the song in few seconds (due to network configuration) and decide to associate a song to another or something like that.
So I have a itunes playlist with my favorite songs and when I relaunch iTunes, songs are renaming…
    What can I do ?

Hmmm, just changing the preferences should not make itunes "lose" items.
Are the actual files still there?
Did you get a message about itunes updating the library locations? Did you answer yes?
Something to know about exHD and itunes, the exHD has to be operational BEFORE you sart itunes, and it always needs to have the same drive letter. If the exHD is F: one day, and then you plug in your ipod and the ipod is now F: and the exHD is G: then itunes has just lost the paths to the items.
You can assign permanent drive letters with windows disk management.

  • App store and itunes language problem and restoring phone

Hi, I recently purchased an iPhone 3G 8GB off of eBay. The phone is unlocked and jailbroken. I want to remove the jailbreak and have a normal iPhone, but still have the phone unlocked. The phone is a Rogers phone and the carrier I am usign is Fido. I have heard that if I try to restore the phone, it will be bricked, and also that I will not be able to unlock it ever again if I do manage to restore it. What do I do? Because I really want to get the phone back to its normal settings. Secondly, my app store and itunes menus are in french. ( the bottom dark gray area where it says selection, search, update etc.)But the description of the apps and thir names are in English. Same for iTunes. I bought the phone from a man in Quebec. I changed the language to English, and the region to Canada, and have tried rebooting the phone and syncing it with my iTunes. But the app store and iTunes bottom menus are still in French. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You cannot. If you need to use the phone with Fido, sell it and buy a Fido-locked phone. Since jailbreaking violates Apple's EULA and voids the warranty, the only advice you can obtain here is to sell your phone, or restore it and get service from Rogers.
Secondly, my app store and itunes menus are in french.
    A restore will fix this.

  • IPod and iTunes 7 problems on Bootcamp!

Ok, all was OK with iTunes 6, I installed iTunes 7 and the iPod doesnt show on iTunes, it shows on the explorer yes...
Only way to make it work?
1- Connect the iPod with the computer OFF and boot the machine with the iPod connected from the begining.
2- Open iTunes 7, open task manager, stop "iPodService".
This is a bit insane uh? Apple, anyone can come up with a fix?
    Thank you in advance!
PD: iPod its a 4GEN (Photo) Firmware updated!

Interesting... I'm sorry I can't help... But, I am experiencing a similar problem. My iTunes (same version) won't recognize my ROKR... Finder sees it but iTunes says "iTunes cannot read the content of mobile phone 'insert my phone's name here'"
I know! It's because we're both in Canada!!! There's a conspiracy against us Cannuks to keep us from using our awesome gizmos to their peak capacity!
Or, there's an obvious answer to my problem... ? anyone?

  • IPad and iTunes connection problem

I bought an iPad2 and installed iTunes 10.3 om my laptop (Windows 7, 64 bit). I installet the 64-bit version of iTunes 10.3, using the iTunes64Setup.exe installation file that I downloaded from the apple site. When trying to connect the iPad, there is an error message saying that "This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes".
I have concluded that the cause to this error is that the "Apple Mobile Device Support" application is not installed during the installation process. This is backup up by the fact taht at one point at the installation, the installer says that "Files are installed" followed by "Action reversed" (but in Swedish).
Now I have tried EVERYTHING to get around this problem, including five calls to the Apple support who is unable to resolve the issue.
I have no third party anti-virus program, and I have shut off the firewall. I have followed the uninstall/reinstall instructions and the troubleshooting steps described in the Support Knowledge Base, HT1925 and HT2292.
Has anyone been in the same situation and found a solution?

Yes, my compuer does have full connection. It just says that there is a connection error, I'm not exactly sure what it says. But I have tried to restore my device on two different computer and both says that there is an error.

  • IPad iOS 6 WiFi, iMessage and iTunes store problems - not the usual

When I first updated my iPad 3 to iOS 6, everything ran relatively smoothly. Then the problems started piling on, beginning with me being absolutely unable of logging into iMessage. It's always the same error message: "Incorrect password". My password is correct, I am using the password I have always used so I know it is correct. Besides that, I tried changing it and that did not matter either way.
Now, the next problem is the common "Unable to connect to iTunes store" which has been talked about a lot on here.
In an effort to try to fix that problem, I reset all network settings for the iPad and that's when the next problem began.
After I reset the network settings, I have not been able to connect to a secure network.
    I have now tried
changing the encryption for the router password from WPS-SPK to WEP and back again
connecting to three different routers with three different passwords
set up multiple hotspots using my laptop with multiple passwords
resetting the network settings over and over again
and all those attempts have failed. I always get the same message as in the picture even though I know for a fact that the password is correct, my laptop accesses that network with flying colors using the same password as I tried on the iPad. And yes, I tried it again. And again and again and again.
Now, this is really annoying. Not being able to access WiFi on my iPad is f****** annoying! Please help!

iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Quicktime and iTunes 6 problems...Urgent Help! Please!

I have recieved an iPod for christmas, for use on my laptop which currently uses iTunes 6. I would like to be able to burn some tracks onto a disc, but a CD-Burner for the laptop is not availiable. My Family Computer however, does have a CD-Burner, so I thought I would be able to burn the tracks from here. I installed the version of iTunes supplied with the iPod and connected the ipod to the computer. I attempted to play some purchased music, in order to add it to my library and was told it was not authorised to play in the computer. I attemtpted to authorise it and it then told me that I needed to install iTunes 6. I did so, and half way through the download, it stopped and told me their was an error with the Quick time download (Error : - 3). I attemtpted to use iTunes after the installation finished and it told me that I could not use it becuase it require a certain version of Quicktime. I then attempted to dwnload the version of Quicktime, without iTunes. There was an error (1402). After tis there was another error (-1603). It then told me Quicktime could not complete its installation...Could anyone direct in the right direction to being able to have iTunes 6 and burn tracks from my iPod? Help would be MUCH appreciated...
I am using Windows XP Service Pack 2...

    hiya!
I then attempted to dwnload the version of Quicktime, without iTunes. There was an error (1402).
hmmm. that's the underlying problem that is causing the -3 on the itunes install.
let's try applying the following treatments:
Error 1406 or 1402 appears when you install iTunes or QuickTime for Windows
... and if you end up trying the regedit, let's take a few additional precautions on the standalone QT 7.0.3 reinstall after that.
reboot the PC first. then download and save a copy of the QT 7.0.3 installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off any antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.3 Standalone Installer
    keep us posted.
    love, b

  • Older Apple TV and iTunes streaming problem

I've set up a Mac to act as an iTunes streaming host, mostly for standard-definition video.  Other computers and iOS devices on my home network can play back the content with no issues.  However, two older (hard disk based) Apple TVs we have are unable to play video from the iTunes streaming server.
One of the Apple TVs is connected via ethernet, the other via wifi.  They can play audio just fine via iTunes streaming.  With video, however, they either lock up for extended periods of time or play the audio while showing a frozen video frame.
Since audio plays back fine but video doesn't, I'm wondering if the video data rate is too high for these older Apple TV boxes.  The video is standard definition in h.264 format encoded by HandBrake.  The settings used for the video are:
    Video codec:  H.264 (x264)
    Framerate:  same as source
    Quality:  Constant quality (RF: 20)
Can anyone think of something I might be able to do (other than re-encode all the video at lower bitrates) that might help?

What bitrate are they, the Apple TV 1 is stated to play video up to 5 Mbps, but I've tested video at 11 Mbps without any problems. You might also try re-encoding a small part of the original source file using other conversion software at the same bitrate to see if it's a problem with handbrake.

  • IPhone 4 software problem and iTunes account problem

My friend has 2 new iPhone 4's and there was a software and volume problem. So they took it to apple to have it checked out and they reset it. After they did that there was another problem. In photos it would not show location so the chick at apple told my friends to go home and factory reset the phone and it will fix it. After we tried that it linked my friends iTunes account and there daughters account together and now they can't buy anything with there account it asked for there daughters account password. So now what do they do. I tried to fix it for a day. I was the one to talk them into buying iPhones so now I'm trying to help them fix it. We tried to reset the accounts on the computer and phones but when they go to buy something it asked for there daughts password. Help

We did that. When you look at the settings it says that it is my friend account but when you go on the phone and try to update or buy something it asked for there daughters password
