Winawt.dll errors in IE 5.5 SP@

I am not sure if this is the correct forum, but we have a problem and need some help to correct it.
The computer that are experiencing this problem are running Windows 2000 Pro, Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 and JInitiator 1.1.87. The problem is as follows:
When we are accessing Oracle (entering PRs or Expense Reports, etc.) we keep getting Errors in Internet Explorer that cause IE to shut down. Any changes since the last save are lost, and sometimes the error happens before you have a chance to save it the first time. It seems to happen more during the times that the usage is probable higher. I am on the west coast, and the server is on the east coast, and Friday afternoon local time (after 3:00 PST), I didn't seem to experience the same problem, but earlier in the day I would get the error after just a couple of minutes of accessing the Oracle database.

Julie,
I think that is because of jinitiator version. send the details of your oracle version and tell me the window user privilages.
if you can provide error log files that will be very helpful to find out cause of error.
