Winclone back up installed programs/applications in Windows 7 partition?

I am using winclone to back up my windows 7 partition. Does this backup file contain the necessary information to reinstall all programs/software/applications in the event of a total hard drive failure? In other words, would I need to insert each install disc to get my programs back or would the Winclone back up file restore all of my software and settings to what it was prior to a hard drive failure? It seems that Time Machine does this, but the details of Winclone have been hard for me to find.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
sadly WinClone is no longer developed/improved by the programmer and he also has taken it's website/Forum offline.
Whereas Time Machine is a file-based backup solution WinClone is an Imager solution which can be best described as a snapshot of the full Windows partition.
The file WinClone creates from the WIndows partition contains everything on it at the time you use WinClone.
So, there is no need to install anything after a restore with WinClone.
The restore will be the same Windows as it was at the time of using WinClone to make the image of your Windows partition.
For Time Machine-like backup solutions for your BootCamp Windows have a look at these

to name only two. There are more...

  • Preventing help files being added to start menu after installing an application in windows 8.1 enterprise

    Hi Guys
when we install an Application in windows 8 family, we see that in addition of Application executable file, user manuals (.chm) and PDF & other files related to that App are added to start menu (when we click down Arrow which shows all programs) and
so the start menu gets quit messy.
is there any settings to make only applications executable file be added to start menu & prevent other types of files related to that App being added here?
    thanks in advanced

    Hi John,
This issue is related to the programs package we installed.
    • An installation package contains all of the information that the Windows Installer requires to install or uninstall an application or product and to run the setup user interface.
    • The developer can specify installation context, and based on these properties, Windows Installer automatically redirects the values of folder properties and registrations to locations.
    • The shortcut is added to the profile by these context
We could right click these file and could find out they are the shortcut mentioned above.
For more information about Windows Installer, please refer to the following article.

  • Will downloading and installing on an existing Windows partition work?

Thanks to a computer information systems class I have, I'm able to get a downloadable copy of Vista (I can get 7 as well, but I hear that Apple doesn't officially support 7 at this time, not to mention the horror stories of drivers not working properly). I have 2 questions regarding this:
    1. Can I download and install Vista on my Windows partition?
    2. Did Snow Leopard improve the Boot Camp drivers so I won't be seeing things like BSDs or having the fan turning on full blast after a few minutes?
Any and all answers/input is appreciated! Thanks!

  • Installer instal labview application as window service

    Dear NI
I want to make an installer which installs labview application as windows service.
Currently i am using third party tool to do this. Is it possible with labview application builder.
    regards

It should be possible also with installer builder. You should automate described steps (put some entries into the registry and call executable from MS ResKit). Resourse kit should be deployed with same installer (not sure if there "silent" install possible, otherwise read ResKit documentation and license agreement). Alternatively you can build installer with third party tool - in this case you will have more "freedom". In the past I have done this with Inno Setup - works without problems.

  • Failed boot camp install - how to remove windows partition?

    Hi There,
After a failed boot camp install, boot camp no longer sees (or can remove) a windows partition - Disk Utility can't seem to remove it and if I use:
    $ diskutil list
It shows up as partition 5 "Microsoft Reserved"
I also have a portion of free space that I can't seem to incorporate back into the main OSX partition - how do I remove the windows partition and make the drive a single OSX drive again?
Any help would be much appreciated
    Cheers

    - New Mac Pro
    - Installing onto internal 1 TB SSD
    - 10.9.3
    - Windows 8.1

Just incase others have this issue, this wasn't caused by using Disk Utility (Disk Utility couldn't remove the partition anyway) it was caused by repeatedly trying to format the Boot Camp partition using the Windows installer when Windows refused to install.
The solution is an Apple tech note (I can no longer find it sorry) that sates that no other hard drives besides the internal HD and the Windows USB flash drive can be connected while installing windows.
    Cheers

  • During Windows install, says the Bootcamp Windows partition is incorrect file system and won't install

I had another Macbook Pro retina which I installed Windows 8 on with no problems via bootcamp.  I just updated to the late 2013 model of the Macbook Pro, and attempted to do the same thing but have had problems.  I create the partition for Windows with Bootcamp, restart the computer, and after I enter my security key in the Windows installation screen it comes to the screen where you have to select the appropriate installation drive.  When I select the drive I created for Windows, it says that it can't install due to the file system.  I have no idea why I'm having this problem because I had done this once before....I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong and I'm at a loss.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I will greatly appreciate it...also let me know if there are differences from the early 2013 model and late 2013 model that would've created this problem.  Thanks!!
    Robert

    Well, here is what happened...
Somehow in making a Windows partition then removing the partition so many times I created an error where it only showed 1/2 of my hard drive...like it was starting to create the second half for the windows side and ran into an error.
So this turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because what I had to do was go to "Command + R" when I was starting up and format the entire drive, all 500 gb.  This formatted the whole drive and must've erased whatever was causing the trouble.
Of course, then I had to reinstall OS X, and reinstall my Time Machine backup, but then I opened bootcamp and created the Windows partition again.  This time, when I ran the EFI installer you were referring to on the far right (which I had tried before), it allowed me to click next and continue once I selected the Windows partition.  Thank God!  It must've fixed whatever file system error was hanging it up there every time....because it's installing now.
What I would suggest if all else fails, just format the whole dang thing.  Then try from square one and see if you can install

  • HT1926 msg:  Itunes can't start cuz MSVCR80.dll is missing from yr computer - try reinstalling - then when I reinstall, it comes back "non installed correctly - error 7 (windows error 126)

Get message that Itunes can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer - try reinstalling.
When I reinstall I get Itunes is not installed correctly - plse reinstall - Error 7 (Windows error 126)

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

This window will not close.  It prevents my mac from shutting down.  It also prevents me from downloading any other programs or updates.  Flash player is successfully downloaded on my computer.

  • Cant install an application in windows 7

Even though I have admins rights I get an error that I need to be an administrator.

you have described the symtoms but nothing else to go by.
Meaning now you need to think of all the system maintenance tools and installer cleanup utilities and even how to restore or undo or uninstall to go forward.
What are you trying to do?
You have a workstation so Windows is on its own drive.
Clone OS with Paragon's $20 program - for backup if nothing else.
Clean it, check it, from chkdsk to memtest to ccleaner and then you get into Revo and SysIntenals perhaps.

  • Installing programs built with Java

I have a client who installed programs [applications] we built in Java. One person has no problem installing and running the programs. Another can install and run two of the three programs. The third program does not open a dialog box for them to register the program with us. The third person can open one program [the second installs with the first but will not open]; and the third program does not install at all. They all use Windows 2000 5.00.2195 with Service Pack 3. For the program that will not install the task manager indicates that 100% cpu processing time is involved. For the other programs that will not run, they get the javaw.exe error message. A fourth person with Service Pack 4 cannot install any of the programs and gets the wjview.exe generated error and the computer shuts down. This represents money to us if we can solve this problem. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.
    Thanks
    Donna

    * You ship your own JRE for your app
    * You get errors from wjview.exe
Based on these 2 evidences, your app is not launched
with your shipped JRE correctly. Perhaps it is
launching the default java and not the full path to
your JRE location? That is at least one of your
problem you need to fix there.
    I suggest two probabilities
    1) As lichudang says above, launching is not correct. wjview.exe is a component of MS Java, not Sun Java.
    2) Possibly these client machines have acquired spyware/adware/viruses. Using wjview to launch these buggers is somewhat common.
Take a look at this thread http://forum.java.sun.com/wireless/thread.jsp?forum=8&thread=351762&start=30&range=15&tstart=0&trange=15 which talks about (2) above.
This Google search turns up quite a few references, try refining it with additional terms

  • Am I able to install OSX update within a windows partition?

Earlier today, I restarted my computer but unfortunately, I got the circle with a slash through it. I did a bunch of research on the matter and tried everything. I tried booting to recovery and booting to safe mode to repair my permissions but nothing worked.
I also looked into recovering some of my files that I hadn't gotten the chance to back up which included a variety of options that didn't seem to work either.
Then out of pure curiosity, i booted to my windows partition and lo and behold, I got in. I was also able to access all my data from the mac partition. So i went ahead and backed up everything that needed to be.
I have a friend that's been helping me with this and he said that it may be because the OSX partition header is bad rather than the harddrive header. He then asked if there was a recent update that may have something to do with this? Either way i have no idea. So my question is; If there was an update that i didnt get that perhaps caused this, am I able to install it through the windows partition?
    Thanks-

Did your computer come with installer discs? Or, do you have a retail Snow Leopard DVD? If so, then:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
