Window 2000 & RMI client losing network connection
We have a client/server java application communicating via RMI. The application runs perfect when the network is running smoothly. However, once the client loses connectivity with the network, the client runs in offline mode (as expected). However, once the client reestablishes a connection with the network, it is unable to communicate with the Server via RMI. It seems that Windows 2000 reassigns the client's IP address when it goes offline to localhost (127.0.0.1), when the client is reconnected the IP addresses is changed back to the network address, but it is unable to send data to the server running RMI. Any suggestions? We did not experience this problem with Windows NT.
you need to specify the IP address of the server object from the JVM in which it is exported, using -Djava.rmi.server.hostname argument to the JVM (since the client and server run on one machine, you probably want to set this to 127.0.0.1, I think)

Hello,
currently we are using two W2K12R2 DHCP server configured in "load balance Mode". On DHCP1 the IP-scope with failover partnership to DHCP2 is deactivated. DHCP2 is working fine. Now we register that 50 percent of our clients (W2K8R2 application
server) losing the network connectivity for 3 sec. after rereleasing they IP-Address. On DHCP2 servers eventlog we receive a lot of
BINDING ACK reject events 20291 and 20292 for these IP addresses entries.
These 3 sec. of loosing they Network connectivity is our big Problem because the Client application (W2K8R2 application server) cannot handle these timeout. It looks like a
DISCOVER-OFFER-REQUEST-NAK cycle that are described here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/teamdhcp/archive/2014/02/26/dhcp-failover-patch-to-address-a-reservation-issue-and-another-issue-related-to-failover-partner-not-accepting-state-transition-from-bad-address-gt-active-has-been-released.aspx#pi47623=2
there is a solution to prevent the 3 sec network failure?
RgdsHi Steffen,
Have you applied KB2919355 in the server?
If issue persists, please check the detailed information about the event. It will tell us why does the server send the NAK.
Best Regards.

Randomly losing network connection over wireless
Shortly after installing the 10.4.5 software update, my G4 iBook with built-in Airport Extreme card has been losing connection with increasing frequency. Built-in Ethernet use is unaffected. I'm calling this problem thrash-and-drop.
1. When it's losing signal, processor activity goes through the roof. I had Activity Monitor running during a thrash-and-drop. kernel_task CPU consumption goes from under 1% before the event, to over 80% during the thrashing, and back under 1% after the thrashing stops. The activity is so bad the cursor can't be controlled: using the track pad sends the pointer all over the screen or nowhere at all.
2. This has been observed to occur with two different wireless base stations: A Linksys WRT54G and an older SMC 802.11b router. Either router is within 10 feet of the computer. Only one is running at a time. There are no other base stations in range.
3. Another iBook G4 (OS 10.3, Airport Extreme card (not built-in)), sitting next to it, shows no change and its wireless behavior is unaffected.
Initially, this seemed more likely to happen when Safari was loading Flash-heavy pages. And after thrashing and dropping a connection, it was able to reconnect after either a reboot or a five minute sleep. Currently, it can't connect to a base station for more than a minute. Most recently, it thrashed and dropped while I was selecting the base station to use. This is true regardless of the application running. In fact, it will thrash-and-drop when there are no user applications running at all, after a fresh reboot.
I've tried the following things to address the problem. None have affected the thrash-and-drop problem. Admittedly, most of this is random:
1. Back up and delete network preferences in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
2. Turn off IPv6 in System Preferences/Network
3. Back up and delete network preferences in ~/Library/Preferences (com.apple.NetInfoManager.plist and com.apple.NetworkUtility.plist)
Has anybody else seen this problem? I want to blame it on the 10.4.5 upgrade but I haven't seen anybody else complaining about 10.4.5 doing this to them. If there's something I can do to fix this in a software setting, I'd much prefer that to yet another roadtrip to the Apple store.
1.33 GHz G4 iBook Mac OS X (10.4.5)Hi!
I have the same problem of randomly losing network connection over wireless, though mine is hardly related to surfing.
I have an external storage drive in which I use for backup of my stuff, and I access the drive via my modem, using the airport. Of late, I noticed that when copying files from my iBook to the external drive, the connection would suddenly drop before the transfer is completed. This began to occur with increasing frequency, particularly when transferring large files.
I have since abandoned wireless connection, and reverted to my trusty cable. Still, I admit that I'm really curious about the cause of the apparent lack of reliability with my wireless connection. Has it something to do with the airport?

RMI client losing connection and weblogic.rjvm.PeerGoneException
What causes PeerGoneExceptions? We are seeing this very often on our
production and test systems. We use WLS RMI clients connected to WLS 4.5.1
servers w/ service pack 10. I understand that there is a heartbeat between
the client JVM and the server JVM. Is there any documentation that explains
how this actually works. For example, how often does the client send its
heartbeat. Is it configurable? What could cause it to stop or drop the
connection. We are using straight T3 (no T3S or HTTP).
thanks for your help,

Jabber for Windows 9.1(3) - All network connections fail at least once a day
Hi,
We have Jabber for Windows 9.1(3) running, with the MSI 3.2 installed as well.
At least once a day my computer stops making network connections (Outlook gets disconnected, Internet Explorer cannot connect to Google, Chrome also fails). When I shut down and restart Jabber all network IO resumes.
Has anyone seen this behavior?
I've made two problem reports for this. Is anyone interested?
Regards,
Erik Tamminga
PS. Server side we're running all 9.1 versions. We had the same issue and logged a TAC case, and the final result was to uninstall media services as mentioned above. Obviously now you no longer have desk phone video.
The new 9.2 beta has a new media service version, and the rollout of the new 9.2 client is mid march I believe, so hopefully this rectifies the problems, because if it doesn't I think this would not be a good thing for Jabber as a product unfortunately.

All in One Printer, losing network connection
I have an HP Photosmart, 5510. It's only about a year old but is now always losing the network connection. I have it set up properly (it has actually worked!) to the wireless router. Most times now when I need to print, it tells me the printer won't communicate with the computer. I have taken it off the network, put it back on, and it says it is all connected. I have printed out the network status page, all is okay, no problems found. Why then am I still unable to print? This is very frustrating.
I have it set up to my Macbook Pro and my iPad. It has previously worked on both devices, but I can't seem to get it back to working order now.
I have looked at the forum here and have seen many many people with the same problem, but most seem to be using a Windows operating system. Any ideas on what to do? I really need to print!!
This question was solved.
View Solution.I feel that perhaps either my post was in haste or in error since I did not see the above solution you provided when I posted this. I do not mind helping you out with router and network problems either way, but since you do not know the name of your router, it will be hard for me to assist with that. I will say, you can always contact your internet service provider and have them check for a firmware update if you have to reset the router that often. If you look on the back of the router you will see little numbers (specifically a model number).
Is that IP address that of the router or the printer?
Either way, I am very happy to hear you were able to get it working again. If you need any more assistance let me know which device has that IP address and at least a model number so I can look up your type of router and let you know if a firmware is available. I'm happy to help!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.
When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue.

IMac keeps losing network connection
My iMac keeps losing the connection to my AirPort very sporadically, but very often. I keep having to open Network Assistant, choose the AirPort and the network, and re-enter the password. I then get a message that my network connection appears to be working correctly, which it then is. This could happen several times in a few hours.
I have tried creating a new network, but it still happens. We have 6 other devices on this network and do not have a problem with those devices.
Any advice?LB60 wrote:
What am I looking for in the window that pops up?
here's a (very crude) screen shot of an iStumbler scan on my MBP
my network is called pegasus. see that it broadcasts on channel 11 (2.4 GHz band) ? see also that there are six other networks broadcasting on the same channel ? now, ideally i would change my channel to broadcast on "5" or "6", but since there are so many networks around, even those would give me interference from other networks nearby.
in the end, i decided to hardwire (using ethernet cables) most of my devices to my router (time capsule) in order to avoid interference alltogether.
also, there could be closed (hidden) networks around that only KisMac would be able to pick up.
lastly, as the read about *wireless interference* revealed, there are other sources that could interfere with your network performance: microwave ovens, cordless phones - heck, even enabling bluetooth on your very own Mac could be a source.
as an alternative to running ethernet cables throughout your place, you could consider *powerline adapters* _*such as these*_.

Chat Windows are closed on lost network connection
Hi,
Lync seems to behave a little bit differently from the Communicator regarding lost network connectivity.
As soon as Lync looses the connection to the server (e.g. by switching from LAN to WLAN) it logs off and
closes all chat windows - which is the main annoyance.
Can this behaviour be changed somehow so chat windows stay open and their content isn't lost?
Due to legal restrictions automatic saving of chat history is disabled - so that's no alternative to access the lost chats.
Any help/ideas appreciated.Hi,GGerlan,
Unfortunately,As soon as Lync looses the connection to the server (e.g. by switching from LAN to WLAN) it logs off and
closes all chat windows this is by desgin, however you can check the conversation history when you switch from Contacts windows to Conversation windows in Lync client control panel and then click on the contacts to open the conversation windows
with missed conversation history.See below screenshot
Also if you deployed Exchange and you can check the conversation history in your outlook conversation history folder.

If you haven't yet installed the Windows Support Software, that's probably why, so install it now. -
Losing network connection and NIC acts weird from warm/hot weather/temperatures?
Hello.
Is there a known issue on MSI P43 NEO3-F (MSI-7514) motherboards' onboard RealTek RTL8168C (P)/8111C(P) PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC network disconnecting and acting weird during warm/hot weather?
I noticed lately and back on 1/11/2009 night when weather got warm/hot (e.g., my room can get over 85F degrees, but lately it has been 80F degrees), my network would lose its connection. See http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/5580/screenshots.gif for a few SpeedFan's sensor readings when the incidents occurred. I have never seen this happen when the weather is cooler (60-70F degrees in my room).
I also think this only happens if I am using the PC lightly (nothing intensive) like watching fullscreen videos (video overlay), surfing the Web, etc. I don't see any errors or evidences that it happens when idled (e.g., asleep or out). Uptime doesn't seem to matter since I have seen days to 3.5 hours.
I tried upgrading network driver twice (e.g., Realtek_XP_5714_0219 from
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false ...), disabling Kerio Personal Firewall v2.1.5 (XP's disabled already), releasing and renewing IP address (works, but still no network -- can't even ping my router!), unplugging and replugging the cat5 cable (do see the network port lights on), touching the network jack and hardware inside and outside of the case (not hot), trying another cat5 cable and a network port on a switch instead router's), changing from "Minimal Power Management" to full power (no underclocking/slowing down when idled), etc.
During the disconnections, I tried:
C:\>tracert 192.168.0.1
Tracing route to 192.168.0.1 over a maximum of 30 hops

I also noticed the disconnections usually start with red X icon in my taskbar with its bubble and then later the long disconnection even though no red X (1 GB and connected). If I were to disconnect the cat5 cable from NIC, then it wouldn't even detect it is missing the cable!
The only way to fix this was to reboot (best way and last longer) OR disable network connection and re-enable it (Windows XP's Network Connections) or the NIC itself (Device Manager), but that doesn't always last long (maybe a minute). Example of my pings right after disabling and re-enabling NIC:
C:\>ping 192.168.0.1 -t

Force your NIC to run at 100Mbps full duplex and see how it goes.
Check your router / switch ports as well as cables.
I will try 100 Mbps if it happens again. So far, it hasn't occurred after installing the driver supplied by MSI's Web site and not RealTek's Web site. The room temperatures even got warmer like 83F degrees.
As for router and switch, what am I checking for? Other computers didn't have any problems. As for cat5 cables, I already tried another one like I said in my original post. -
IPhoto 11 keeps losing network connection
Ever since OSX Lion and iPhoto 11, one annoyance is, when you first load iPhoto, everything is 100%. Perfect. Then you go on and work with something else and when you return to that iPhoto 11 space, click share, and all the network connections are grayed out. You cannot upload or eamil photos to anybody. The only way to reconnect is to quit iPhoto and start again. This is non-productive behavior. This is ridiculous. This defeats the whole purpose of having iPhoto.
Did I do something wrong? Did I overlook some kind of settings?
Is there anyone else out there who experience the same thing?
Is there any Apple staff or inside people here who knows what is the fix?
Please help.No Apple developers here. Only users like yourself. Sounds like a damaged library. Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists.
If it doesn't then try the following to fix your primary library: Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

[SOLVED] Losing network connection after suspend
Lately I'm having this peculiar problem. When resuming after suspend (specifically, pm-suspend), I have no network connection. I first noticed this on March 31st. The only thing that changed was that I upgraded these packages:
openssl-1.0.1-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
xf86-video-ati-6.14.4-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
lib32-libdrm-2.4.33-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
libnotify-0.7.5-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
xz-5.0.3-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
vim-taglist-45-5-any.pkg.tar.xz
But I'm pretty sure I would have suspended and resumed successfully at least once after that upgrade.
Can anyone suggest what I should look at to try to diagnose this?
Thanks

MacBook losing network connection
I realize this may be a wireless problem...maybe a hiccup somewhere in the network, but I have random laptops (10.6.4 - but this occurred in prior versions of the OS - so it's clearly not an OS specific issue?) that lose their connection to the wireless network (all Airport Extreme WAPs).
When the user logs in her laptop is not on the network and immediately gets a message that the time on her laptop is not correct. There is a window showing the available wireless networks. I have to select the network and re-enter the wireless password. Unfortunately, if I do that as administrator, as soon as the user logs in, we have to go through the same process again.
As I said, it's random. 99.99% of the time things work just fine until another laptop loses connection.
Can anyone shed any light on why this might be happening?I happened upon a couple of posts about similar problems mentioning there might be other radio interference nearby, like microwaves. One post mentioned that Bluetooth turned on caused a problem. I'm going to track our issues and see if there is some common thread. I'm pretty sure it's a wireless issue, though, most likely interference perhaps at logon.

WRT120N losing network connection
Hello
Just after some help with my home network. I have a Dynalink RTA 1320 DSL connected to my WRT120N which is wired to my PC which is running Vista. I have a new HP laptop running Windows 7 which is connected wireless to my home network.
I have no issues with my internet connection, both PC and laptop can access the internet at all times.
The problem I have is that for some reason, maybe after 5 mins or so, my laptop drops its network connection with my PC, and vice versa, so I cannot access their shared folders(either from my laptop to pc, or pc to laptop). I have checked firewalls etc and everything else in between. After reading some posts I see that others may have the same problem.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution. If you have security firewall or anti-virus on your computers then, try disabling them and check. Also, check for the latest driver for the adapters on your computer and update them.
