Window appears on non-existing monitor.
Hey now...
For awhile, I had a second monitor ( An analog flat panel) hooked up and used both during my FCP edit sessions.
When I wanted to add text, I would use Boris Title 3D and "Click for Options" as would any one.
My "Options" window would open on my second monitor. (The one on my left side )
Now that I have removed it ( bad monitor ) and now when I select OPTIONS, it still bounces to where the old monitor is.
I know this because when I Expose' all the current windows, it comes flying in from the far left - off screen. If select it using Expose', it becomes active and I can type on it, but out there in limbo.
It's like a phantom leg. It feels like it's there, but it's not.
Any I deas how I can GRAB the title bar and drag it back onto the ONLY active monitor?
dumb question maybe, but have you rebooted since you detatched the second monitor? the system may still think you have two monitors attached ... you didn't leave a vga adapter or some such plugged in?
in OS X > System Preferences > Displays, tick the "Show displays in menu bar" checkbox.
then look under the Displays menu bar item at the right of your menu bar and see if it is displaying details for 1 or 2 monitors
if its displaying settings for 2 monitors then the system still thinks the monitor is there, despite your having unplugged it ... in that case, detatch any display adapters and/or check your connectors
hope it helps

Boris Window Stuck on Non-Existant Monitor
Hello everyone.
I edit using my MBP at school, hooked up to a 23" Cinema display. I shuffle windows around to either screen depending on what I'm working on at the moment. Yesterday I was working with Boris on the external monitor. I closed Boris, saved, quit and went home for the day. When I open up FCP today, none of my windows are up, of course, because they defaulted to the external monitor which was no longer plugged in. So I go up to window, arrange, Two Up, and everything is back to normal. When I go to edit my Boris text however, the edit window doesn't show up, I'm assuming its stuck on the other monitor. How do I get it back on my laptop's screen without plugging in an external monitor?
If it matters, I'm running FCS 3 on a 2.8GHz MBP with Snow Leopard v.10.6.2.Hi -
This happened once to me and the only solution I could come up with was to borrow a second monitor, and drag the window back to the main screen.
I tried deleting the Boris prefs, but if I remember correctly, this did not help.

Windows gets rearranged in Windows 8.1 and secondary monitor when computer goes to sleep
I have a MacBook Air 2013 with a secondary monitor installed through a mini-display port-HDMI cable. I also have bootcamp installed in Windows 8.1 64 bits with all the latest drivers installed. The problem that I have is that when the computer wakes after it goes to sleep, all the windows in the non-primary monitor moves to the primary monitor and I have to re-arranged them all over every time.
What I tried so far:
1. Installed the latests drivers from Microsoft and Intel HD Graphics 5000.
2. Look for the DMMEnableDDCPolling in the registry. (not found only available for ATI cards)
3. Change the mini-displayport-HDMI cable for a new one that doesn't transmit the "power" so that computer do not detect that the monitor was shutdown.
4. Change the resolution on boths monitors to native resolution
5. Change the primary display from external monitor to laptop monitor
6. Changer HKLM\Software\Microsoft\TMM\UseIViewHelper from 1 to 0
7. Try to get an answer from Apple, Intel and microsoft support.

PLEASE HELP! I Don't know what else to do!
This do not happend on MacOS, is happends only in Windows.
Thanks, Andres Rormoser. The only solution that I found so far was to install Actual Window Manager, separate the secondary monitor in tiles, assign each window to each tile, add a shortcut to start/stop ActualWindowManager and every time the computer wakes up with the windows re-arranged I press the shoutcut and everything goes back to my predifined layout.

HT1310 Non-Existent Windows installation appearing in my startup menu
Hello, I recently removed my bootcamp partition and I am still seeing Windows appear when I hold down option to view all bootable partitions. Any ideas what would have caused this to happen?
Hey LowLuster, I was able to fix it by verifying/reparing disk permissions. I'm still curious as to why this happened, but it's fixed. Oh btw, here are the screenshots.

Camera Raw window appears in wrong monitor
About a week ago, the camera raw window started appearing in the secondary monitor of my pair and I cannot stop it from starting there. It appears with the title bar up off the top of the screen and I can just barely grab the top corner of it from the edge of the primary monitor and drag it out where I can move it.
Prior to this, if I opened a raw file directly into CS3, it would start in the primary where CS3 is placed or if I right clicked a raw file in Bridge and chose open in CR, then it would open in the secondary monitor where Bridge is located. Now I don't get the choice. This was happening before the latest updates which all appear okay. System is a PC by the way.
I would appreciate any assistance.
ColOkay, here's a lesson for us all. I had accidentally hit the F key (Full screen mode toggle) whilst in there and it fills the screen with no hope of getting to the edges. Once back in normal mode all is well again!!!!! Embarassed
Thanks for the help

When I am out of my office using my laptop, upon launching Firefox, it displays all of the tabs from the previous session on the non-existent extra monitor which is set up as a screen extention for when I am in my office. All of the other programs that I park on the extra monitor (Outlook for example) display on the laptop's screen when the extra monitor is not attached. Is this a bug? Or, must I not save my open tabs when exiting Firefox if I am going to use the laptop w/o the monitor?
Thanks for your suggestion. I sort of came to that conclusion as I was typing the original question. However if there is anyone out there who has a solution that is not dependent on my remembering to do something before I exit Firefox, it will be welcomed.

Non existing local user managed to RDP to windows 2012 target machine
Hi,
It seems the exact same issue as I see it here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/91f09a4b-350f-47f8-814b-53b29d1a6306/windows-2012-rdp-login-credentials-are-not-used-on-remoteapp-connect-dialog-box?forum=winserverTS
But I couldn't see any real/final answer.
Can I get official response from MS about this issue?
When we use the RDWeb, we use a non existing user to connect to some target 2012 machine and it actually works... it connects me to the target.
How cab I eliminate it?
Tx,
shlomHi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
For the user which you don’t want to provide the access of Remote Desktop to target machine, you can apply GPO setting for that user. Need to apply “Deny logon through Remote Desktop Service” GPO policy and add that user under that policy. You can
find the policy under below mention path.
Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local Policies/User Rights Assignments
Hope it helps!
Thanks.

How do you increase font size in Bridge using windows 7 and a 4k monitor? It appears as though this issue has come up previously but there is no answer.
Unfortunately this will require some new programming by Adobe and there's no way to know when that will happen. In the meantime, the only option I think you have available to you is to change your resolution so that your monitor is using fewer pixels per inch.
Kinda blows the whole value of the newer monitor but I suppose you can switch back and forth from low res when you are working in Bridge to high res when you are working in PS.
Sorry, but for the time being, that's about it.
Best,

My webmail is auto signing me out several times a day, but only on this computer. It's set for 'private', I've uninstalled and reinstalled that program, cleared cache and re-started, same thing with Firefox.
Firefox is also frequently blocking pages from opening that apparently don't exist, and blocking non-existent pop-up windows as well.
Today I got an error message that my sync password was rejected, which is odd since it's set to manually sync and nothing's been changed. All the resets happened days ago. It also wouldn't let me use my password, but let me change it.
Since this is the only computer I'm having the problems on I'm assuming that it's either the version of Firefox that I'm using or something in my computer that suddenly isn't playing nice with Firefox, but I don't know where to start, other than once again un and re-installing it (which did nothing).
Thanks for any help!I kept getting that error message. I thought that since I'm syncing with my corporate email so the calendar syns wirelessly with Outlook, that it was causing a conflict.
I just found this post though, and other people said it worked for them

When I add a new bookmark, and the (star) Page Bookmarked window appears - is there any way to expand the size of that window so that I can see my entire list of folders when adding a new bookmark to an existing folder? The endless scrolling technique is far too tedious when trying to add a new bookmark, because the window is simply too tiny. Is there maybe a plug-in that will let me grab the corner of that window and re-size it? Thanks!
I suggest you install the "Add Bookmark to Here2" extension, then you can expand the the list but you will not see the bookmark itself in the list if that is what you wanted. At the top you have three major folders you can select one of them and scroll up and down. Below that you have your most recently used folders and you can select one of them instead and scroll up and down. You can see the folder the bookmark is in -- they get added to the bottom
If you really want to see the bookmark within the folder the same extension allows you to bring the bookmark to the folder from say the bookmarks sidebar that is why it is named as such. I use it but mainly i use the dialog.
Please continue reading about bookmarks and some related extensions at

* http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox.htm#addbookmarkhere2

If you are not using tags at all, you can remove a whole lot of confusion by removing them from the dialog via the extension. -
Happy Valentine's Day!
QUESTION: How do I change the appearance of a pre-existent
HTML document to appear as a framed picture.
BACKGROUND: There are a very large number of these
pre-existent documents, and each document will be called up by one
or several other documents that have yet to be created. Associated
with each pre-existent document is a folder of PNG files that are
called into the document via three input buttons: home, next,
previous, and close. The first PNG (home) file is automatically
called into the document's <body> tag when the window opens.
Upon browsing the properties and functions of the HTML DOM
window Object as described in W3Schools.com, I discovered the
following statement:
quote:
Sets whether or not the browser's tool bar is visible or not
(can only be set before the window is opened and you must have
UniversalBrowserWrite privilege)
Similar comments are associated with other crucial window
properties. These statements suggests to me that I will be unable
to achieve my goal.
RoddyAnother suggestion might be, in an effort to save yourself
some typing
responsibilities, is to remove the QUESTION: at the beginning
of your query,
and replace it with a "question mark" (?) at the end of the
aforementioned
question. I am certain anyone qualified to respond to your
plight will be
adept at the use of punctuation in a non-coding enviornment.
Another point is that in the QUESTION in question, you
mentioned a
"pre-existent" document, however that would imply that the
document in fact
does not already exist, hence the pre-. Perhaps you were
trying to convey
that the documents do in fact already exist, therefor making
them existing
documents. And not to belabor the point, if you have a
document, it unto
itself implies that it is already exisiting, so the use of
existing document
can be construed as being redundant.
Lastly, I believe that you could in fact combine the QUESTION
and the
BACKGROUND into one succinct entity, thereby making your post
more
acceptable to the reading public, plus, and more important,
bringing you
closer to your goal of actually getting your question
answered in a manor
that you could use the information (put forth in the form of
an answer) to
solve your problem.
So perhaps a better way to have set forth your post would
have been.

Submitted tasks not appearing in the batch monitor
In other words Compressor seems to be totally useless after the update.
I select my preset, and the destination, I click submit, I get the little popup with the name, cluster and priority options, I click submit, and then nothing happens. Nothing at all. Nothing appears in the batch monitor, just nothing.
A little "last submitted at.." appears at the bottom of the upper window, but that's it.
Can anyone please help? Compressor was working so well before the update...OK, now I've noticed something else. When I submit, the batch instantly fails.
If I open the batch monitor I can click on the failed files, revealing this fault: 3x INVOKING METHOD OR ACCESSING MEMBER FOR NULL REFERENCE -
A pop-up window appears after log-in and disappears very fast
Hello,
There is an annoying pop-up window appearing in the center of my screen, after each log-in to my account.
It dissappears ultra-quickly after showing up and I'm not physically able to see what it's about. I can't even take a screenshot.
I wonder whether there is a respective .log file or an event viewer, in order to check what this might be and why it's appearing.
I opened up the Logs folder, but I didn't find something useful. Activity Monitor also didn't help.
In Login Iterms, there is only iTunesHelper app, and it has never caused any kind of problem before.
All of my settings haven't been changed since last three weeks, and this is happening for only three days now.
There is only one account on MBP (OS X 10.8.5). If further information is needed, I'll try to provide them.
Thanks in advance.Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Displayport to DVI Adapter finds Generic Non-PNP Monitor
I have a 6 week old H8-1420T Envy C1U69AV#ABA, Windows 8 64bit, 1GB Radeon HD7670 and I am trying to connect two Dell 1905FP monitors. Each monitor works fine when connected to the DVI port. When I connect one monitor using a HP displayport to DVI dongle adapter, the system reports it as a Generic Non-PNP Monitor and the screen remains black. I tried the adapter on another system and it works fine.
I updated to the new "8.982.10.1800 Rev. A 3 Jan 2013" driver on the HP site but it didn't help. The AMD drivers will not install because apparently this is an ugly step-child video card, not a real AMD. If I knew that I wouldn't have purchased it with the system.
I have the original CD from the 1905FP when I bought them and it doesn't have a driver file on it (didn't need one with XP). When the monitors work, they are each reported as a 1905FP.
Anyone have any suggestions?
This question was solved.
View Solution. You can make sure you have the newest AMD drivers by using these steps. I have not had any issues updating the AMD driver using these steps on custom built and OEM systems.
I will be honest, I'm not certain if the driver will correct the issue but it is worth trying and having the newest driver may not hurt.
Let me know what happens.
