Window Dragging

In LV6.1 is there any way to prevent window dragging other than making the title bar invisible?

Hello Jim,
Check out this other Discussion Forum link.  It looks like making the title bar invisible would be the best way to do this unless you were able to determine the Windows system DLL calls that would be needed to do this.

    Hi;
In http://e-docs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/portal/samples/login.html?skipReload=true it says "In the Data Palette window, drag the Login to Portal portlet onto a placeholder on the page. "What does this mean and how do I do it?
And the following line is "In the Property Editor window, set any relevant properties." - where is the property window and what properties do I want to set and to what value?

  • Regrading full windows drag in remoteapp

    Hi,
I've set up the "disable full window drag:i:1" setting in the rdp file for a remoteapp program, but it does not work.
    Using windows 7, RDP 7.1 (haven't upgraded to 8.0).
Doesn't this setting work for remoteapps?
    Thanks

    Hi,
That's what i did in the first place:
"..I've set up the "disable full window drag:i:1"
setting in the rdp file for a remoteapp program, but it does not work."
    What works is the following:
On the client computer, go to "System"->"Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows" and disable the "Show windows contents while dragging".
But like i said the earlier response, that disables it for all windows, both local and remoteapp. So basically, I'm asking, is it possible to do it for only the remoteapp windows?
As you can see in the 2nd post you added in your response, he also had to set it up on the client.

  • Firefox 4 stops opening new windows after browser window dragged to second display

Firefox 4 stops opening new windows after browser window dragged to second display. It's weird. Behavior is fine until I drag any browser window to the attached second display, and after this point it stops opening new windows but will still open new tabs in the same window. Restart fixes it until I drag the window back to the second display.
"Show all bookmarks" stops working too--won't open a new window.
This is after clean reinstall with total deletion of any Firefox/Mozilla folders and the previously installed app and a restart of the computer.
    Mac OS X 10.6.7
    Firefox 4

    Pretty sure this is either:
    '''Bug 644733'''
    or
    '''Bug 609405'''
(...and they may be reporting the same thing.)

That pic is a little old, and my desktop is so much better than that now, but....
I cannot for the life of me remember what this unwanted window effect is called.  it happens when I drag my windows and I obviously cannot enable any desktop effects.
    Any words of wisdom?
A side note-  I have no idea how to generate log files.  I can access them and I know how to put them in a pastebin, but I have no idea how to actually get the full text from terminal (so if anyone can direct me to a decent .log-generation-how-to-wiki, that would be superb)

Your logs are generated automatically by your system as it runs - there is nothing further that you need to do. They are ordinary text files, so you can display them on a terminal using any of the usual tools - cat, less, grep, etc.

  • Finder window dragging tab to desktop

I am curious if anyone else is having this problem.
Maybe my brand new Mac Pro has a graphics issue.
When I drag a tab to create a separate window it creates a miniature version of the window and when I release the window upsizes.
However, it leaves a small version of itself behind.
See the image below for what I am talking about. The two small versions of tabs I dragged persist and will not be deleted until I "killall Finder" or restart the finder. I have tried deleting the workspace and they just move to a different workspace.
    My setup:
    Anyone have any ideas?
Is this a hardware or software issue?
    Graphics card or Yosemite?

Ok I am still having this issue even after the Geniuses reset my computer including the firmware. (that was for repeated gpurestarts which  have stopped for now).
All software is up to date. Killing the finder will remove the offending ghost image. Restarting the computer removes it but I can always create another one just by moving a tab to the desktop.
Third party software disabled and still I see this until I kill the Finder.
When I move the tab to the desktop it expands fine but leaves the ghost and I get this message in the Console:
    12/18/14 7:53:03.412 AM WindowServer[140]: WSGetSurfaceInWindow : Invalid surface 811443408 for window 838

  • Window dragging issues on second display

    Hello everyone,
I have secondary display with 1920x1200 resolution and rotated 90° (portrait mode) connected to MB Pro early 2011. After updating to Mountain Lion from AppStore I faced with quite annoying effect on this display: when I drag any window over the desktop it's moving quite jerky. Also all system menus (dis)appearing with pulsing effect. When I drag any window to desktop on MacBook display - everything is smooth and OK.
Also I noticed that during desktop video capturing (using quicktime) overall perfomance degrades significantly: mouse cursor moves lazily, windows movements are really slow.
I'm feeling that this is serious software problem.
Is this known issue? Could someone reproduce it? Any workaround?
    HW: MB Pro early 2011,
OS: Mac OS X Mountain Lion,
Secondary display: Dell U2412M, 1920x1200, connected through DisplayPort input.

Try repairing your permissions.  Go to applications then to the "other" folder then go to disk utility, on the left hand side you will see a white box.  Select the second option, usually called "mac HD" with that selected click on "repair permissions" in the center towards the bottom of the screen.  Wait for it to complete, then see if this fixes the issue.

    i. Ensure the machine is powered off.
ii. Locate the following keys on your keyboard in preparation for Step 4:
    ‘command’ – ‘option’ – ‘P’ – ‘R’
iii. Press the ‘power on’ button.
iv. Immediately – and before the grey screen appears – hold down ‘command-option-P-R’ all together.
    v. Keep them held down until you’ve heard the start-up chime twice. After you release them you should hear it again, and hopefully your Mac will boot up normally.

  • IChat window dragging problem

Did anyone noticed that you cannot drag an iChat window by its upper right corner? The last 1/4" is dead for me, you try to grab the window from there and it just slips. Everywhere else you can grab it normally. I don't have this problem with any other window in any other application.
It's not a big deal but I was just wondering if I am alone and why so?

    An Ahh Ha! Moment.
On most other apps that space is for the white/grey/non coloured oblong button that can reveal/hide the toolbar.
See it at the top of Safari or Firefox ?
iChat does not have this on Any window.
It makes it a pain when the Preferences decide to lose their Toolbar of iCons for the different panes as then the only way to get them back is delete the com.apple.ichat.plist
I would guess this is "Dead Space" for the missing button.
(Of course I cant' find another apps to test this theory out right now).

  • Sidescroll elimination / trackpad window dragging

2 legitimate questions, and a vanity concern tacked on just to keep everything to one thread.
    1. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to eliminate the sidescroll when viewing a folder in thumbnail view, if I max out the window that does the trick, but it seems there should be an option where if I only wanted to see 3 picture thumbnails per row and only had to scroll down to review the entire folder I could do that.
    2. I recently went into trackpad settings to turn all my 4 finger gestures such as "view mission control" etc to 3 fingers, but it messed up my ability to 3 finger drag windows around the desktop which I used quite a bit and don't see an option for this in the trackpad preferences, so I put those gestures back to 4 fingers but now I can't drag windows anymore with 3 or any combination. How do I get this back? Ideally I could change it to 2 fingers.
    3. I'm on the 2011 mac mini so any traces that these once had a disc drive is uncessesary. I removed "Remote Disc" from showing up under Devices in Finder, but it's still showing up under Devices -> X's Mac mini. It does nothing when I try to eject it. Can't think of anything else to get rid of it. This is far less important than my other two issues I'd just like to remove it if possible for neatness sake.

for issue # 1. i see what you mean. here is the fix. open the finder window and then go to the view menu. under "Arrange By" you will see that "none" is selected. if you select to arrange by name, the finder window will rearange the icons and stick to the size of the window. so you will no longer have to scroll left and right, and all the items will be scrollable up and down only.

  • CS6 Problem on Windows Dragging/move

I saw this problem a few day before and this is something that need to pay attention, the problem started when I had a multiple tab to do
a work, then I put some tabs windows and drag to the left to make my drawing more easier base on the reference on the left
and suddenly the tabs goes crazy and always started to move up
I've found the solution by autohide the taskbar, but it really not confortable because taskbar are usefull at the sametime

    Hi All,
Its a known issue and we are working on this.
Please refer this document for the workaround : http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/images-pop-menus-moved.html

  • Photoshop 13.0.5 window dragging issue (OS X)

Hello everyone! I'm having one small issue abou this: when I drag an open document window partially off the screen, somehow like this:
then release it, and then drag back, the sides that have been hidden (outside the screen) won't redraw until I release mouse button:
Haven't noticed such behavior until 13.0.5 (upgraded directly from 13.0.1).
    Thanks.

What's your exact version of the OS, and what are the model and specs of your video card?
The reason I ask is that I see the very same behavior in Photoshop 13.0.5 under OS X Lion 10.7.5, but then I know I have an underpowered video card with only 256 MB of VRAM, and Photoshop never fails to inform me so every time it launches.
A video card upgrade with 1 GB of VRAM should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday.  I'll report back once I install it.

  • Changing maximized window drag sensitivity

While I love the new snapping features Windows 7 has, I find that it's too sensitive to drags when clicking titlebar of maximized windows - I often click a maximized window's titlebar, only to see the whole screen flicker as the window is restored, and then maximized again. It appears that the drag is currently initiated if the mouse is moved just 1 pixel in the vertical direction, which seems way too low to me - is it possible to change this to something saner?

  • Window Drag Lag

I have a JFrame with a bunch of little green and red lights (icons) on JLabels. It essentially shows the status of somethings with those lights. They get updated via UDP messages...about 112 a second. I only repaint when a status changes (so i don't get bogged down with repaints).
I have a class that extends thread, with the priority set to 1. This thread receives the UDP messages and processes them. Lastly I have a Swing Timer that is fired 1 second after the last message is received, but if a new one comes it, the timer is reset. If no messages are received for 1 second, the timer is fired.
All goes well until someone grabs the frame and starts dragging it all over...the CPU usage goes up, and my thread processing the UDP messages comes to a hault and the timer gets fired. Even though i set the priority to 1, it still does this. Why does dragging the frame cause this seperate thread to pause? This happens in both Windows (paints while dragging) and on Solaris (does not paint while dragging). The CPU usage is sitting around 50% while dragging the window all over, so it's not like there isn't enough CPU to do this. And where it freezes in the code is not consistant, for instance sometimes it pauses on timer.reset(), sometimes on multiSocket.receive(packet) (not swing related), and sometimes in other places.
Is there any way to prevent or correct this issue?
    J2SDK 1.4.2

nm, prirotiy 1 is the lowest priority... 10 works great.
