Hi All,
I'm seeing "Window Freeze" error message, when
i track packets transmitted across client and server
machines. Is there something wrong in the client or
server machine configuration or is it related with the
application(my) running? whats does the error message
basically implies? does anyone have any thoughts about
this? any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

  • Crystal report preview window freezes if I push any key on the keyboard

our system is a pretty old one, and we are still using crystal report 7 and vc6(mfc6).
It is a simple dialog based application with a button and a flex grid7.1 component on it.
when the button is clicked, a crystal report preview window will be opened and become the active window.
the problem is that, when i pushed a key on the keyboard ('a' for example) the whole application will freeze, and CPU Occupancy Rate is 100%.
but if I switch the dialog to be current active window after a preview window opened, keyboard input won't make the application freeze.
It seems that crystal report preview window don't know how to deal with the keyboard input.
    BTW:
I use the methods below to open a preview window.
    PEOpenEngine
    PEOpenPrintJob
    PEPrintReport
have anyone here met any similiar problems before?
    I really need your help.
    thanks in advance.

Moved to Legacy Application Development SDKs forum.
I have nothing for you, other than; consider upgrading - after all CR 7 shipped in 1998(!). I don't know what OS you are on, but I suspect what ever OS it is, it was not even in a concept stage of thought when CR 7 shipped. E.g.; this may be an OS issue more than anything else.
BTW., print engine APIs were retired in version 9 of Crystal Reports. At this time, your best option is to upgrade to CR 2008 (12.0)and use .NET or Java. If you are using VB 6 or equivalent, you could still upgrade to CR XI r2 (11.5) and use the Report Designer Component (RDC). However, note that CR XI r2 will be out of support in June of this year. And CR XI R2 is the last version of CR to include the RDC.

  • I know how to fix the iTunes 7 / firmware ver. 1.2 freeze problem

Many of you (like me) are having major headaches because of the new updates that Apple has been releasing (i.e. iTunes 7). So far I only know that this affects the Video iPod, but this could very well fix other models too.
Here are some symptoms of what the following will fix, and what you most likely have already done to try and fix it.
    - iPod keeps freezing after a few seconds ever since you updated to iTunes 7 and/or iPod software ver. 1.2.
    - iPod will remain in Do Not Disconnect mode even after ejecting or disconnecting
    - A forced reset does not fix it, as it repeats the above.
    - Restoring the iPod through iTunes does not help
    So, here's what to do.
The old iPod updater software is how you will fix all of this. Unfortunately, because iTunes 7 thinks that it's better and more up to date, it will prevent you from opening the old version of the software if you still have it on your machine.
So first of all, uninstall iTunes 7.0. (You do not have to remove your library information, just the software.) Restart the computer.
If you still have the old iPod updater, try it and see if it runs. If it does, read on. If not, skip to the next paragraph. So, if it does run, simply hit Restore and you can go back to a previous version of the firmware. I believe that Apple discontinued the firmware page since releasing iTunes 7. Look around some search engines like Google if you really want the latest firmware.
Take out the installation CD that came with your iPod. Run it and it should install the old iPod updater along with iTunes 6.x. iTunes 6.x cannot run since iTunes 7 changed your libary's formatting, but that will not be a problem. Run the Restore process in the old updater and it should be alright for you to start loading your stuff on again without problems.
Since iTunes 7 reformatted your libary listing, iTunes 6 will no longer work. However, you can still use it by reinstalling iTunes 7. Just make sure you do the following.
TO KEEP THE SAME THING FROM HAPPENING AGAIN
iTunes 7 is actually alright. It's the updater part of it that will screw up your iPod.
    - iTunes 7 will tell you that a new iPod software version is available when you open it.
    - Check the "Never Ask Again" box and click Don't Install.
    - When you sync your iPod to your computer, NEVER touch the Version section when you're changing your iPod's settings. Everything else is alright to work with.
    - Everything will work fine as long as you never update the iPod's software via iTunes, at least until the programmers can fix this issue in a later release or patch.
I hope this helps out a lot of you. Pretty lame of Apple to miss something this big during debugging.
    Custom Windows XP

Listen to this person, he knows exactly what he's talking about. My unit had the freezing problem, the visual artifact problem, and eventually would only show a blank white screen after I had tinkered too long. Luckily I have another computer that I hadn't yet upgraded to itunes 7 and it had the last firmware upgrade before the itunes 7 one. From disk mode I was able to restore it to the previous firmware version, and now the ipod works perfectly.
I too am almost disqusted with Apple for 1) missing this problem and 2) not letting people know!
I wonder how many more people are going to have lots of problems so apple can protect their PR.
Anyways, what would be really helpful would be if someone could upgrade the latest firmware installer before itunes 7 (it's an individual ipod updating program, not itunes 6.xx)somewhere on the internet so users could download it and do away with this evil 1.2 firmware.

  • Spaces: Word  windows freeze when shifted to another space.

Having used Desktop Manager on Tiger for a couple of years, I was expecting a lot from Spaces.
I frequently want to shift windows from one space to another. Instead of ApplealtO (in DTM), I now have to open all spaces using F13 and drag and drop the windows, which would be acceptable, if it worked flawlessly. Problem is that if I drag multiple Word documents to a different space, some of the windows freeze, while others don't. I never had this problem with Desktop Manager.
Has anyone discovered a fix for this?

I have not uses Desktop Manager but I have had discussions with other users on this forum about two different ways of viewing how a virtual desktop should work.
The situation is that some people look at virtual desktops as being Workspace-oriented and some view them as Application-oriented, which is how Apple’s Spaces works. I would guess that Desktop Manager was Workspace-oriented and it will take some rethinking to adapt to how Spaces works.
Applications get assigned to specific Spaces and moving windows out of that specific Space to create a workspace is different from how Spaces was designed, and can result in unwanted behavior.
One way to get more workspace-oriented desktops is to assign the most frequently used applications to all Spaces. I have it set that way for the Finder and Stickies.
Here is a discussion about the different orientations for virtual desktops:
    http://blogs.sun.com/bblfish/entry/whyapple_spaces_isbroken
The best solution would be for Apple, in a future revision, to allow the user to select between the Workspace- or Application-oriented desktops by providing a button in the Spaces pane to choose between them. This might entail a lot of reprogramming, however.

  • Print window freezes -

We're on a two-person WAN network with high speed cable service and printer connected to AEBS. Worked flawlessly for 2 years, now one computer still prints via Airport, but one does not. Email and internet connection are fine, so I don't think it's an Airport drop-out problem.
My computer takes me through the normal print process, the printer icon appears on dock with a document as if to print. Then nothing happens. Print window freezes,no blue progress line, not even an error message or exclamation mark. The print window just sits there and never does a thing and nothing prints.
The upgrade to 10.4.7. may be the genesis as at first we both had problems. When I reset the print system, used Printer Setup Repair program, installed the CUPS 1.2.1, which worked on one computer but not the other. The PSR program did tell me that a file is missing (System/Library/StartupItems/PrintingServices/PrintingServices) but it appears to me that such a file does exist in my System folder.
My USB printer connection works just fine.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

  • RE: Window Freeze

Yes, in answer to your final question, it is a bad idea to have one
window/thread directly invoke a method on a different window if the method
touches widgets. Especially in more recent versions of Forte where they
have made more extensive use of the Windows95 facilities which equate
windows and threads in a very strong way, in my understanding. This is in
fact one very easy way to produce a client seg fault, if I remember right,
if the called method changes the contents of a "mapped attribute" for a
    widget on the other window..
So yes, you should be posting a message on the parent window and allowing
the normal multitasking to switch to that thread and get around to handling
the event and refreshing the node.

    Subject: Window Freeze
    Hi,
We have a list form (listview) that has a child details form. The user
selects an item from the list and this instantiates the child window
which is populated with a clone of the selected data object. The user is
then able to change the details and save these changes, and the update
object with the new values is passed back to the parent list so that
    item details can be displayed.
Now, in order to pass the object back to the parent list the child
window has a reference to the parent and invokes a method directly on
the parent window object, eg. m_SaveItem(doObject). This method then
replaces the existing object with this new object and refreshes the list
    view.
The problems is sometimes the child window freezes when the save occurs.
The exact events that occur are:
    1. User Clicks Save
    2. Disable Save Button
    3. Save In Database (invoke so method)
    4. <freeze>
If the user then moves the mouse cursor off the child window and gives
focus back to the parent list, the freeze ends as everything continues
    normally:
    5. Move mouse cursor to parent list.
    6. List is refreshed.
    7. Save button is reenabled.
The child window is modaless and is therefore a separate thread to the
parent. The freeze only ends when focus is given to the parent list.
Moving focus to other child windows or other windows applications has no
    effect.
So, is it possible that the problem is being caused by a deadlock
between the 2 threads? The ListView actually belongs to Thread1, but is
being updated by Thread2 during the callback to the parent's
m_SaveItem() method. Is it dangerous in Forte to refresh a widget using
a different thread to the one handling the event loop (in which case we
could post an event to the form instead)?
    Any other ideas?

allready using it. I think I'm gonna try a faster usb dongle, and see if it was a signal strength thing. There might have been too much a/v information the comp was trying to process.
The present usb dongle is connected @ 65Mbits, so it should be plenty of speed, so process of elimination points to the receiver. Fingers crossed
    Thanks for your reply

  • Refreshed laptop with Win 8.1 DVD - Freezing Problems

I had freezing problems on my Toshiba and decided to refresh it with full windows 8.1 DVD I purchased separately,
Toshiba initially had Vista. I bought upgraded to Win 8 pro 64 and then to 8.1 pro 64
Toshiba didn't provide any restoration discs or anything. Windows 8 refresh wouldn't work, said was missing files and wouldn't accept my Win 8 upgrade downloaded file as a refresh media source. So I went out and bought Win 8.1.
Refreshed fine without freezing , it deleted every single program on my computer , only left files.
Now I have 0 programs on my toshiba that still freezes. any help appreciated.

  • MBP running Leopard 10.5.3 and W XP  with freezing problems

    Hello everyone
Im running Leopard 10.5.3 and bootcamp 2.1 on my MBP. I am able to run xp pro only once in a blue moon. Ever since I started using bootcamp with windows xp sp2 the computer freezes up. I always have to reboot the computer in order to use the windows side of my mac. I dont know what the problem is. I decided to upgrade to version 10.5.3 and bootcamp 2.1 to see if the freezing problem goes away and it did not help.
95% of the times the computer freezes when Im using it, or when I start boot camp. I only use windows to play games and use some military software since Im a soldier in the army. Im currently deploy to Iraq and not very knowledge in computers. I have reinstalled the apple drivers with the leopard cd because the keyboard was not working properly and it worked fine for a few minutes and then it decided to crash again. It happens very regularly, sometimes Im playing a game for hours and hours and it work great, without problems. Im really lost here. I have read the post about this problem but they really gives me no solution to my problem.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Leo

I have 10.5.3 on an external, and a 410 that I use as a backup device. After reading this post I thought I'd check it for myself. Installed the 1.8.3-6BETA, and fired it up. Everything worked, I had inputs and outputs, even recorded a little something just to test. Started playing some itunes, and about 10 minutes in, the 410 dropped out. I've tried restarting the computer and device several times, and even though the 410 shows up in my sys prefs and Logic prefs, I can't get any ins or outs out of it, and the 410 interface shows now activity on any of the channels.
    Bee Jay -
I'm going to try this tomorrow, but here's a thought.....the 1.8.3-8 says in the release notes that it has new firmware for the device. I know you're using the previous beta driver, but is it possible that if you installed the -8 driver and then downgraded to the -6BETA, that the device has retained the firmware from the -8 release, which is working with the previous BETA release and 10.5.3?
Dunno....just a thought. I was SO excited to finally get Leopard onto my internal, but now it looks like I'll have to wait a bit more. Bummer!

  • Program and Source Window Freezing :/

Have been opening up a large project in Premiere for the first time in a around a month and am having major problems with the program and source windows freezing. I don't know what's happening and am in major need of help as deadlines are incoming. I REALLY want to speak directly to an Adobe representative but this website is making that more difficult than it needs to be. Has anyone been having similar issues on feature length projects within Premiere like this and are willing to help? Preferably a representative of the company but anyone who may know what's happening; feel free to chime in.

  • Safari windows freezing since upgrading to Lion

Since I have upgraded to Lion I have had windows freeze - usually when I am filling out an online form. The window becomes blurry & nonresponsive. I can open new windows they work just fine, or if I have multiple windows open, I can switch to them no problem, but nothing short of  quiting Safari will let the frozen be unfrozen.
This is disappointing. I've had a Mac on one sort or another since 19886.
I have included a screen shot of the freeze - it did it while accessing this support site!!!

    I have three extensions installed.
    Ghostery
    Clip to DEVON Think
    1Password
    Ghostery was not enabled.
If I recall, it does seem to occur after using the 1Password extension. (Which is in beta since the release of Lion) so you may be onto something. I will try disabling each & see if I can reproduce the freeze.
    Thanks,
    Aaron

  • Can't Capture more than 10 minutes or so before the window freezes

    Using Final Cut Express 2
Camera feeding is a Hi-8 Sony DCR-TRV120 NTSC (non Hi Def)
Troubles started (I think) after I upgraded my OS System to 10.5.6
I hadn't used this program in a while.
Things seem to go as they used to when I was capturing video, but after 10 minutes or so (this part is not consistant), the capture window freezes with no message while the source video on the camera plays on.
I have tried changing my cable
I have tried using a different camera, my friend's Hi-8 Sony DCR-TRV140 NTSC (basically a better version of my camera)
I tried trashing the entire program and all related files and doing a complete re-install, but this didn't solve the problem.
    Any advice?

Are you by any chance using an external Hard Drive that is not formatted with Mac OS Extended ?

  • Window freezes when Product category selected via match-code (search help)

    Hello Experts,
I am using SRM 7.0 Extended Classic Scenario.
I maintained a product category hierarchy in the SRM environment.
I maintained the GL Accounts related, the tax determination, the source system etc.
I did all this customizing in a Development environment where everything was working fine.
Now I just transported all this to a Quality environment.
And in the Quality I am facing the following issue :
If I select a product category via the match-code (search help), after the category is selected, the window freezes.
I have to shut it down manually using the Windows Close button.
However, when I type the category number, everything works fine.
Do you have any idea what could be causing this issue, and how to fix it ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sofiane

    Hello,
We have the exact same issue in SRM 7.0 Extented Classic Scenario. This was working fine before we installed the latest support package 11. Which support package do you have?
The same problem occurs with every drop down menu (search help) in EBP. For example when creating a new shopping cart, if I try to add approver, the same thing happens. After clicking 'Approval Process: Display / Edit Agents' > 'Add Approver', the window freezes. Same thing happens with IE8 and Firefox 3.6.13. Could you also try the same?
Could it be a new bug in SP11?
    Thanks and best regards,

  • Video/film conversion freezing problem during play...

    hiya
i was wondering can anyone help me. i have been trying to transfer films to my n97mini using the ovi package. it seems to convert ok and transfer but when i try to play the films on my phone they all seem to freeze at the 25min to 27min mark during playback, but the sound keeps playing.
thanks in advance for any help.

Hi I have experienced the same video playback freezing problem. This occurred after installing the latest phone os upgrade (N97) . Before this I had no video freeze problems but many memory related issues. In my view what has happened is that memory that was prevoiusly allocatedto video support has been reassigned to address the  other memory related issues.. I have also tried to use the video conversion software contained within the PC Suite software and although the video gets converted and copied onto the phone successfully, the video does not work. I dont believe this is a codecs issue as this should be sorted out by the converter utility.. Can you please fix this as soon as possible and issue another os upgrade, preferably one that works on Windows Vista!
