Window in wad

Hi,
How to get a pop up window when user clicks on a icon in the toolbar of the web template?
For eg: if user clicks on "info" icon on the toolbar a pop up window should generate with some information say information about the use of the current web report.

          The statement is ="<SAP_BW_URL cmd> which helps for popup of new window , we can use for what ever action to be done by clicking certain link.

Opening the link in the same window in WAD

Hi,
I have a view when I run it dispalys th data in the same view I have link when I click on the link it should own in the same window instead of opening it in the new window ,how can this be done in WAD3.5

This opens up another template in the same IE session for us:
"<SAP_BW_URL CMD='CHANGE_TEMPLATE' TEMPLATE_ID='Ztrad_Ww005'>">Cash Targets by Branch"
Note: Start the link with <Ahref=" .... and end with </A>. When I put these into the link all you see is the Cash Targets text.

Moving around illustrator canvas/window

I'm having a hard time dragging the illustrator canvas/window when it goes behind the Application Bar/Control panel. Is there a keyboard+mouse command for dragging the window at any point on the window?

How to turn on the properties box in WAD

Hello All,
I accidentally closed the properties box in WAD. I went to view menu and checked the properties option. but still it did not show up.
I dont know how can i bring it back. can any one tell me how to bring the properties box back ???

I even uninstalled my current GUI and reinstalled it agian.( I tried this with 6.40 patch 25 and the latest 7.10.)
Still I cant see the properties window in WAD.

Report Designer - Query with variable

Hi!
When testing the report designer, we have found an issue - its not possible to embedding queries with variables.
We have found note https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=012006153200000232982006
that suggest a solution to the issue.
My question is simply, does anyone know if this is a temporary fix, or is this a constraint that is not planned to be fixed by SAP? The note is a bit ambiguous.

Hello,
Queries with variables are still in restrictions for Report Designer.
You can use this work-arond creating Query View and fill up the variables. This allows you to define a Report in RD. Then, use Web Appication Designer to include your Report into Web Application and replace the Query View with your initial Query.
For the integration do following:
1. Create new Web Template in WAD
2. Drag-and-drop Web Item "Report"
3. Go to Property Window in WAD and search for "REPORT" (description Report Design) parameter in Web Items Parameters
4. Use the button on the right side of the parameter to open Report Designer and choose your Report in it.
5. You should see that new Data Provider was created in WAD -> Open it and set it to your initial Query.
5. Save you Web Template and execute in the browser.

Allow Repeated Key values in WEB

Does anyone know how to turn on Repeating key values in the WEB. This functionality works from the Properties in BEX, but does not appear to be available via the WEB.

It is a property of the web item TABLE 'SUPPRESS_REPETITION_TEXTS', by default the property is checked you can uncheck it using the properties window in WAD. See attached documentation.

Recently I installed windows 8.1. I installed MMX 353g datacard software. But while installing, it was showing "install driver FAIL!" . Thus, I tried to update the driver manually(from device manager). It was successful, except one.

please also contact MMX support to know the compatibility with Windows 8.1.
Besides, there is no preview at your post, in your case, I suggest to download the driver from the official webpage of MMX 353g datacard.
And run it in

Few WAD report functionalities not compatible in windows 8.1 version

Hi,
We are currently facing an issue with one of the BEX(Web application designer 3.5) features not working as expected. we have currently using the BEX WAD report in windows 8.1 version and we see issues with the design of the report. The report is built in WAD 3.5 and it works fine in windows 7 OS where as there are some drawbacks of using this report in windows 8.1 . Has anyone faced the same issue, If so what could be the possible solution for this. Is there any SAP note that i can refer to??

WAD 3.x not working with OS Windows 7

Dear Experts,
We are using BI 7.0 with ABAP Services. Hence using BEx WAD 3.x version for Templates instead of WAD 7.x.
On my PC, OS is Windows 7. While opening WAD 3.x it is giving message that "This application requires Internet Explorer 5 or higher. Inform your system administrator." Earlier it was Windows XP SP2 and WAD 3.x was working fine.
Also I have IE 8.0 on my PC. Please suggest the solution on the same.

WAD execute in browser (new window)

Hi All,
When I push the button 'Execute in browser' after creating or changing a web template, the WAD publishes the Web report in my last opened browser Window.
Nine out of ten times, this Window contains relevant information like Webmail, or Sap serviceplace or SDN
Is there a setting in WAD that forces the WAD to open a new browser window when you use the button Execute in Browser instead of using the last opened one. (Grrr)

Hi Almar,
Try this: Internet Explorer > tools > internet options > Advanced tab > Browsing > Uncheck the Reuse Windows for Launching Shortcuts option.

WAD - Use NO_OUTPUT parameter on a new window

I am using BW3.51
I have been requested to build a front end to some BW reports.
The design has a web page that acts as the front end, where the user selects the options, and then clicks a button to open a new window which runs the BW report.
The design of the front end requires that a lot of manipulation of the web template using command urls, which I am finding often exceed the 2048 character URL limitation.
Looking in the Web API document, I found the NO_OUTPUT option, but I can't see how this can work if I open the report in a new window.
<b>Can anyone give me some guidance on how the NO_OUTPUT option will work if I am opening a new window, rather than using a frameset for the report.</b>

WAD - open Document in the new window

Hi All,
in my old web application 3.5 I had the possibility to open the HTML file from MIME repository. All what I had to do was to press the button. Now I have the new web application 7.x and put the same document into the KM. In the next step I would like to implement the button to open the file in KM. How to do this?
Do I have to open it with javascript (as before) or there is some other possibility to do it? Maybe WAD-command?

I think the best way would be to open in using the Java Script component. Drag in the Java Script component, then assign the component to the button.

Report Report Interface open in same Window

Hi experts,
I have an WebApplication which can jump to another Query.
I want that query open in the same window without replacing the WebApplication. I tried all the open modes in WAD but they allways replacing the whole WebApplication or open in a seperate window.
Has anyone an idea i can do this?

Check the HTML source of the web template and include
TARGET = _SELF in the <A> tag
Example
<A href=your url *TARGET = _SELF*> Report Name </A>
This will open the new report in the same window.

Error while updating a custom Windows Azure Diagnostics configuration xml from powershell. "Invalid update to extension reference for role"

I am attempting to upload a manually edited WADConfig xml to my VM. The WAD service is functioning correctly, I needed to add some custom WinEventLogs. The prescribed steps result in an error.
What am I overlooking?

Since Azure SDK 2.5 uses the extension model the diagnostics extension, the configuration and the connection string to the diagnostic storage are no longer part of the deployment package and cscfg. All the diagnostics configuration is contained within the
wadcfgx. The advantage with this approach is that diagnostics agent and settings are decoupled from the project and can be dynamically enabled and updated even after your application is deployed.
Due to this change some existing workflows need to be rethought – instead of configuring the diagnostics as part of the application that gets deployed to each environment you can first deploy the application to the environment and then apply the diagnostics
configuration for it. When you publish the application from Visual Studio this process is done automatically for you. However if you were deploying your application outside of VS using PowerShell then you have to install the extension separately through
PowerShell.
There PowerShell cmdlets for managing the diagnostics extensions on a Cloud Service are -
Set-AzureServiceDiagnosticsExtension
Get-AzureServiceDiagnosticsExtension
Remove-AzureServiceDiagnosticsExtension
You can use the Set-AzureServiceDiagnosticsExtension method to enable diagnostics extension on a cloud service. One of the parameters on this cmdlet is the XML configuration file. This file is slightly different from the diagnostics.wadcfgx file. You can
create this file from scratch by either following the article that you are referring to or you can modify the wadcfgx file and pass in the modified file as a parameter to the powershell cmdlet.
To modify the wadcfgx file –
Make a copy the .wadcfgx.
Remove the following elements from the Copy:

Windows 8.1 erasing and changing files with chkdsk on external drives. Unnaceptable.

I work for IT support for a small production studio.
They use Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 for they workstations and linux on the rendering farm.
There is an automated system with a nas to make backups of the production assets and renderings.
They have ESATA ports on all the wokstations and use external hard drives to make backups of users files, each user has the responsability of make his /her own backup of personal files (or files from his computer that belong to production like photoshop
patterns, brushes, licenses, rendering tests, plugins, etc).
A week ago the main hard drive of one of the workstations failed.
No problem. New, hard drive, fresh windows install, activation, production software, licenses from license server.
But at the time of restoring the files, the external hard drive of the user contained only old files, and some new but not all. At first time, the user was blamed, but hw swears that he backedup his files. Two days later another user complained that is disk
contained only the old files and his past backup was lost. I was called for help.
After several tests i was able to reproduce the problem:
Windows 8.1: Plug an external disk, make backups, copy new files erase old files, etc, eject the disk using safe removal.
Windows 7: Plug THAT DISK, erase files, copy new files, make backups etc.
Now here comes the problem: PLUG THAT DISK ON ANY COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS 8.1. A few seconds later windows reports that the disk had problems but some corrections were made and everything is ok. IT'S NOT. Any file copied from the prevous backup
is erased (or now it has zero size) and previously erased files are there again. Some of these files are corrupted now but windows says that the disk is OK.
-All the Workstations are up to date with a WSUS (as far as i know).
-The external hard disks are OK (even i used a new formated disk attached to an itnernal port to reproduce the problem.
Moving the backup disk between Windows 7 workstations is ok.
Moving the backup disk between Windows 8.1 workstations sometimes triggers the problem.
Moving the backup disk from a windows 7 workstation to a Windows 8.1 workstation ALWAYS triggers the problem.
Windows 8.1 automatically triggers chkdsk and autorepair the disk a few seconds after insertion unless the user has the disk busy, in that case pops an alert for resterting the computer, and again erases new files and undelete old ones.
First time in my life i see windows doing something like that to a healthy external hard drive.
The event viewer is filled with chkdsk errors like the 26226 and 26228.
We need a solution and i need an explanation of why this behaviour.

I want to know what kind of hard disk is that ? A GPT format or MBR format?
According to your description, the GPT format hard disk might not be detected by a computer with a MBR format hard disk, vice versa, so, I suggest to check the disk format by plugining the hard disk to a bootable Windows 7 system, then:
In the Disk Management console, on the View menu, point to Top, and then click Disk List. The upper pane displays a list of disk drives that specifies the partition style in the last column.
