Window's application run on solaris

Dear
Sun Microsystems
I am Mandar sawant. I am animator. I am using 3d-animation software which required highly configuration computer. And want operating system which give me smooth performs for my 3d-animation software. I am using AutoDesk Maya for my software. So I have some question about this is follow.
1] Can I use my software on this operating system?
2] Is this operating system good for graphic and editing work?
3] What about security in this Os?
4] Is this virus and hacker proof?
5] can i run windows's application on this os? if yes then how?
please reply me soon.

1] Can I use my software on this operating system? Is your software Solaris based or written in Java? If not you will need an emulator to overlay onto Solaris for the OS your software is written for.
2] Is this operating system good for graphic and editing work? While I am not an animator, I have always been very pleased with the performance of Solaris in any task I need to run--yes, and some are animation.
3] What about security in this Os? Unix derivatives are much more secure than Windoz.
4] Is this virus and hacker proof? There is no such thing as virus or hacker proof... if you are connected to a network, then you can make deterants, but nothing is virus nor hacker proof.
5] can i run windows's application on this os? if yes then how? With a Windoz emulator you may as far as the emulator will allow.

    3. Kindly can share how to move solaris 9 into solaris 10 containers ??

Based on the new questions for the same post you wrote in the other communities, some posts are removed as duplicate, here is the answer :
For the point #3, please look on table 17-1 in the following URL :
Zone Components - System Administration Guide: Oracle Solaris Containers-Resource Management and Oracle Solaris Zones
You can also customize your container /etc/system file but it cannot exceeds the global zone and the zone configuration value.
For the other point, #2, this can be complicated without a complete image of what the complete system do.
Try fist to check if you have not a busy process in your zone, then you can check if a bottleneck exists in the I/O side. You use maybe wrong parameters, a wrong configuration or your system configuration is insufficient in term of resources.
What I can see in the outputs that you provided is that the S9 zone uses the half of the swap space. This can impact your zone performance and I/O activity, and can have in this case a side effect on some processes. Check why your zone uses the swap and how you can remedy this.

    Hello,
Based on the exception message, I found that your project is build with .NET 4.0, you could consider changing it to .NET 4.5.
If you want to keep it built with .NET 4.0, then you could consider the following fix.
FIX: "Faulting module name: clr.dll" error message when you run a Microsoft .NET Framework 4-based application

  • Application runs slower on Solaris

We have developed an Application in Java (Servlets, JSP & Core Java classes including thread).
My Application runs fast on Windows, but its terribly slow on Solaris. When the application is run on Solaris the CPU usage is very less around 3 to 5 % only and there is no major io bound operation also. Please comment on this behaviour when am running the application on Solaris.
For eg: A while loop in my program took around 16 msecs to execute in Windows machine, but the same while loop is taking 250 msecs to run in solaris.
Note: The solaris machine is very powerful than the desktop windows machine.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Salin

Which version of Solaris are you running and what threading library is currently in use? Did you use some profiling application to arrive at the benchmark results you obtained or some other means were used? Does the code within the while loop call any classes making use of Java threads and synchronization mechanisms?

  • Application Runs Under Windows 8.1 But Not Under Windows XP (I Know XP Is Deprecated)

The problem is with the obtuse error message put out by Windows's program loader. It reads, in part, "..is not a valid Win32 application." The application runs everywhere except on Windows XP. Looking for root cause of the problem. It's a very
simple application. Only a few lines of code.
    C:\Packaged-Software\32-BIT\Reboot.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
    Proposed nature of the problem:
    1. The file was downloaded from a website but the download was incomplete.
    2. The full file system filename path contains bad characters such blank space.
    3. Visual Studio constructed an application that won't run anywhere much less on XP.
    4. The supporting libraries are not properly installed (e.g. .NET Framework4, and VCREDIST).
    Retorts:
    1. The file wasn't downloaded from a website and is intact.
    2. The filename path doesn't contain any spaces.
    3. The application runs under Windows 8.1.  Also on Windows 7.
    4. The supporting libraries are properly installed.
So, what's the problem?  One surely will not discover the root cause from "not a valid application."
Body must be 4 to 60000 characters long.  I had put the code here.  It isn't 60000 character long.  But it validated as if there are more than 60000 characters.  Sorry for the incomplete submission due to website construction error.
    MARK D ROCKMAN

    Hi F7H2fw,
How did you develop the application ?
Here is a similar symptom and this may explain the issue somehow:
    Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsnetsetup/archive/2012/10/16/setup-exe-is-not-a-valid-win32-application.aspx
I suspect there is a compatibility issue here .
Considering this is more likely a developing issue .It is recommended to ask for help from our MSDN Forum .They are more familiar with the developing issue .If it is possible ,please attach the code in that thread .Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

I have a very strange issue.
I am not able to run a windows azure application which has a WCF service and mschart in it. Following are the steps to reproduce the error:
    1) Create a new windowsazureapplication with a blank asp.net webrole
    2) Now add a new WCfService
    3) run to check it runs ok

    4) now in one of the pages include mschart, and open the design of the page to make sure the webconfig is changed to use the mschart.
    5) now try to run the project.
I am getting error message like this one:

Is this a problem with windows azure or am I doing somthing wrong?
FYI: This is not my first project on windows azure.

As far as I know Toshiba doesnt support such Microsoft stuff so I think Microsoft is the right adres for such issues.
Have you already checked what Microsoft say about that?

  • Windows desktop application -- version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running

I am developing on 64-bit Windows7 Enterprise using VisualStudio 2013.  I created a new Windows desktop VB.net application and just created a release build of the default solution/project targeting "Any CPU".  I provided the EXE to a
colleague who is also running 64-bit Windows7 Enterprise but receives the following error...
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.  Check your computer's system information to see
whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
I changed the build configuration to create a "x86" build but my colleague received the same error.  Any ideas why this would be happening (I checked and my colleague has .Net4 Framework installed as well)?  Thank you for your time and
    response!

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.
Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

    Hi sunisha,
According to your description, you'd like to run the application in your colleague's computer.
I provided the EXE to a colleague who is also running 64-bit Windows7 Enterprise but receives the following error...
If you want to test the application, you could provide the whole Debug folder to colleague instead of the single exe.
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
Check if the collegue's computer is running 64-bit windows:
Enter Control Panel, click on System and Security.
Under this, you can view the system type. This will describe whether you have 32-bit or 64-bit.
You can also try compatiblity mode.
If the program is not compatible, then you may try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
    Use the following steps:
    1)   Right click on the Program
    2)   Click on Properties
    3)   Click on Compatibility tab
    4)   Select Run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or whatever operating system the program was running successfully.
And if you still have questions, I suggest you deploy the application to the Local Network with clickOnce, then your collegue can install the application from the network.
    #ClickOnce deployment
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/t71a733d(VS.80).aspx
And also, you could recreate a new small application in your computer in Any CPU, then check if this small new application can work well in your colleague's computer. This can judge if the problem is caused by your application.
If you have any other concern regarding this issue, please feel free to let me know.
    Best regards,

  • How to run Windows-only applications on Macs?

Is there a way to do this without having to purchase huge software programs (like Parallels, etc.)? I am only wanting to run 1 Windows-only application, not install the entire Windows-theme onto my laptop. Thanks for the help!

    Eric,
there is Windows emulation software called Wine that can run many (but by no means all) Windows programs without needing a Windows installation. It is gratis, but on OS X you need to compile Wine yourself; they do not have precompiled downloadable disk images for OS X. However, a company called CodeWeavers does offer a precompiled version of Wine called CrossOver Mac for OS X, but it costs $59.95. They do have a gratis 14-day trial version, so you could download that to see if your lone Windows application would work well under OS X with it.

  • Running windows xp applications on a macbook air

I need to run some legacy windows xp applications in my new macbook air.  What version of windows 7 I need to use?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First, check that those applications are supported. Then, if you have to run apps that don't need all the performance of the Mac, just download Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install Windows on a virtual machine. In this case, you can choose the Windows version and edition you want to install, but I recommend Windows 7.
If you have to run apps that requires the maximum performance, you have to use Boot Camp. In this case, you can only install Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate (it's better to run a 64-bit edition). To install Windows on Boot Camp, just open "Boot Camp Assistant" and follow these steps to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf
If you are going to use Boot Camp, please follow carefully the steps, because you can delete OS X by mistake and lose everything. Apart from that, you need an external optical drive to install Windows. Any will work with the MacBook

We're moving from windows 2003 server to Solaris x86-64/sparc environment - 10gR2 app server and db. Currently, since our servers are in a remote datacenter, we just VPN onto one of our windows server, which has the dev tools and standalone oc4j running so we can develop and test forms. Simple.
First thing we noticed is there is not a solaris x86-64 version of the dev tools, so we assume we'll have to develop on our windows desktops, and then recompile on the solaris server. So, the question is how best to do this?
Initial thinking is that each developer needs to have all the .olb,.pll,.jar,.fmb etc. files on their local machine compiled for windows, and then have to copy these to the solaris servers and recompile. This raises all kinds of concerns about how to keep the files on the developers machines in sync with the versions on the solaris servers.
Seems we are missing something here and there may be better methods to setup this environment. Perhaps use sparc workstations so we can develop natively in solaris, but that is an expensive option. Any ideas?

    Hi,
Its better to develop in Windows and port it to
solaris. Thats what we do for our implementations.
All the developers has all the source code in the
local desktop. And when ever they want to change
/update a form, they download it from
development/prodn in solaris to the local desktop.
At a time usually one developer will work on a form
and that can be put to the solaris and compiled there
    in order to test.
Rajesh ALexWhat about the .pll, .jar, .olb files? Do your developers have to download to their local machines each time they open form builder to get the latest versions? Seems a maintenance nightmare to keep local versions of these files up to date with what is on the servers.
Perhaps we need to look at some source control software that can manage this. Any out there that work with forms?
