Window server on intel core duo

is window server installed on intel core duo.how it is installed

Perhaps you are misunderstanding something about Apple computers.
All Apple computers, including those with the Intel Core Duo processors, come with Mac OS X as the preinstalled operating system.
Only recently, Apple has released a beta version of Boot Camp, which is software that will allow you to partition your hard drive for the purpose of installing Windows XP on a seaparate partition, thus creating a dual boot system. Boot Camp includes drivers for Windows XP which allows Windows to run on the Apple hardware.
You can't simply install any version of Windows on Apple hardware.
You need to install Boot Camp first. Boot Camp does not have the drivers for Windows 2003 server, so you will probably not be able to run it successfully.

  • Macbook Pro with 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo Windows install advice

I find myself after 20 years using mac's needing to run a windows program. I have Macbook pro 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo and was wondering if anyone can tell me if parallels or fusion works better on this machiene. Also i see some folks here feel Windows 7 is  the way to go. Any advice would be appreciated.
tks  in advance for any advice
    -R-

A lot of the answer really depends upon you and your usage.
VMWare Fusion, and Parallels Desktop both work well, nad each ahs its strengths and weaknesses.  I have used Fusion v3, 4, & 5, as well as Parlallels v 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8.  I got my first copy of Parallels when I got my first MacBook Pro as a bundle deal along with a Windows XP Pro license.  For my usage, I find that Parallels seems to be more "efficient" (it runs a little faster) but Fusion seems to be a bit more stable, and supports a slightly broader collection of hardware peripherals.  Luckily for you, both packages offer a free trial before you buy the software, so you can test them both to see which works best for you.  You could also consider using VirtualBox (a free tool much like Fusion or Parallels), or even Boot Camp if you need the "raw power" of running the system in native mode with no emulation overhead.
As for What version of Windows you run, it would really depend upon what licenses you have, and what your Windows software requires.  some Windows software still requires Windows XP, some requires Windows 7 or later.  Since you didn't mention your Windows app, I can't say for it.
In the end, it depends upon you, what you want, what you need, and what you are willing to pay for.

  • Rebuilding aMacBook 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, hard drive failure so rebuilding system.  Aircard will not stop self-assigning IP address.  Any ideas how to resolve successfully?

Had hard drive failure on MacBook 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, so had to rebuild the OS on new drive. Was on Lion 10.7.5 prior to failure, but had to reinstall Snow Leopard 10.6.3 since that was most recent OS on media I had.  After finally getting ethernet connection to router working, was able to get to internet and download / upgrade to 10.6.8.  I assume I can probably buy the upgrade to Mountain Lion 10.8 from there.
Problem is this, Airport will not stop self-assigning IP address for my wireless connection, and unless I can get wireless back on this laptop, doesn't make a lot of sense to continue the rebuild and reinstall of all the software that was on it prior to HD failure.  Only way to my home network and router is ethernet now.  Everything else on my network (Apple MacBook Pro laptops, iPhones, desktops, and non-Apple printers and laptops) is hooking up to router wirelessly fine.
Any ideas how to resolve successfully so that the airport will stop self-assigning and allow the router to assign the IP address?

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]

  • Dithered Colors in iPhoto 6 on iMac 20" Intel Core Duo with 1.5GB RAM

    Hi.
I have a 20" iMac Intel Core Duo. Shoot at 100 ISO, sRGB, with a Canon Digital Rebel XT in a studio setting. When viewing the images in iPhoto they have a noticeable dithering on the colors, especially on the seamless. Sometimes it's bad.
If I view them full screen in Comparison mode I see it there, too. Detail is intact, but the colors dither. Doesn't happen in Photoshop CS2, and I don't remember if it happens in Preview...
Any ideas of what is going on?

    Scott:
Are you running the latest Quicktime version, 7.1.5? If not that may have something to do with it. Also what color profile are the files assigned? You can check that out by viewing them with Preview and using the Summary pane of the Info window there. Are you shoot RAW and importing those files? If so there may be addition issues that I can't help you with although as I understand it iPhoto creates a jpg file from the RAW file upon import and that's what you're working with.
Make sure your monitor is set to millions. Although since CS2 doesn't show that effect I'm guessing it is set to that. But check anyway.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • HT1338 intel core duo / can't migrate to icloud?

Hi.  I would like some help in clarifying please.  I have an older Macbook with an Intel Core Duo running Snow Leopard.  I can't upgrade to Lion.  I have used my .mac account/Mobileme for years primarily for email purposes, idisk, and the gallery (I understand the idisk and gallery are being discontinued).  I'm trying to understand whether I can migrate to icloud and/or whether I really need it.  I don't have any other devices that I need to sync with.  I've already copied my idisk onto my hard drive and I'm not too worried about the gallery because I have my photos and movies stored elsewhere.
    Questions:
    1. Do I need to migrate to icloud in order to keep my @mac and @me email addresses?
    2. Will the @mac email address be discontinued after June 30 (assuming I've migrated to icloud)?
    3. Is it physically possible for me to migrate to icloud if I am using Snow Leopard?  If so, do I follow the steps as outlined on the main migration page (i.e. acknowledge that I'm using the required software)?
I believe there may be a workaround to #3 but am not sure if that's what I'm looking for.  Thank you for your help.
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
    Questions:
    Answers:
    1. Yes (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4597). MobileMe accounts must be migrated before the end of MobileMe otherwise they end along with the service.
    2. No. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4597)
    3. I haven't done it recently but yes.
-- You will need to update the mail server settings in your Mail program once the migration is complete as iCloud uses a different set of mail servers than MobileMe: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.
    Cheers.

  • Adobe Air on iMac G5  Intel Core Duo 2133

I have just tried to download an update to Adobe Air and been notified that the updates will no longer work on my iMac.
This is the quote from their web site :
Adobe will be discontinuing support of PowerPC-based computers and the Windows 2000 operating system for Adobe AIR and will no longer provide security updates for Adobe AIR on these operating systems.
As I have an Intel based machine is this the PowerPC model they talk about?
What on earth do I have to do now? Do I delete Adobe Air and make several applications useless? I am starting to get downloadable things that use the latest Adobe Air....
    Marjorie

Your signature says: 867 MHz PowerPC G4
Your thread title says iMac G5 Intel Core Duo 2133. There is no such thing. It is either an Intel imac or a PPC G5 iMac.
As I have an Intel based machine is this the PowerPC model they talk about?
Obviously, if what you quote is accurate.
Please clarify what Mac you actually have, and what operating system you use (you quote Panther).

  • I have a 5 year old MBP, 2GHz Intel Core Duo, 1GB MHz, DDR2 SDRAM, running Snow Leopard, 10.6.8.

I have a 5 year old MBP, 2GHz Intel Core Duo, 1GB MHz, DDR2 SDRAM, running Snow Leopard, 10.6.8.
I use wireless to connect to the Internet and everything works fine when I sign on.  After being on line for awhile and my remaining battery power at about 60%, I lose connectivity.  I turn off Airport, restart it, and I am asked for my secure password.  I enter the password but cannot reconnect.  So, I shut down the computer for 5 to 10 minutes, restart, and everything works great again.
Has anyone experienced this behavior and do you have any suggestions as to what is causing the problem.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I think I hit the wrong key ... so here it is again!
Thank you ...  I keep seeing this i5 and i7 processor mentioned and it is also recommeded that I stream using it. Do you have any suggestions on which MacBook would serve me better? Or is there an upgrade of any kind that will help me?
    Thanks again.

  • Is Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 compatible with Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo

Hello, I’m using Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo with Mac OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  When I try to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 I receive this error message:  “Some errors occurred during installation. Adobe  Elements 11 can be installed on 64-bit systems only.”  Here is the question: is Photoshop Elements 11 compatible with my computer and operating system? I guess my computer runs at 32-bit. Why do I receive that error message when I try to instal the Trial version of the software? I have read that Photoshop Elements 11 is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Thank you.

    On prodesigntools.com
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-premiere-elements-11-are-out-pse-pre.html
they say Photoshop Elements 11 running native in 32-bit:
Photoshop & Premiere Elements 11 will run well on 32-bit or 64-bit systems, and are designed for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Mac OS v10.6 through v10.8 (see the full system requirements for PSE 11 on Windows/Mac; and PRE 11 on Windows/Mac).
Premiere Elements 11 comes with a native 64-bit version for higher performance – in other words, the PRE Editor now runs native on both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.
Photoshop Elements 11 continues as before, running native in 32-bit and compatibly on 64-bit systems.

  • 21.5" 2.4 ghz Intel core duo with 4 GB memory iMac w/ OS X 10.5.8

my 2008 21.5" 2.4 ghz Intel core duo with 4 GB memory iMac is running OS X 10.5.8 and has recently started over heating and locking up .... even with applications that it has never had problems with before .... I don't think it's capable of being upgraded any further, right? can I upgrade the graphics card or is that even worth it?

Your tems are fine, nothing at all to worry about. One thing you can do is shut down the computer, remove the RAM plate cover on the bottom and vacuum out the air intake. As for the spinning beach balls that isn't a freeze it means a process is busy. You can run Activity Monitor (Applications - Utilities - Activity Monitor) and when you begin getting SBBOD look in AM and see if you see any processes using a large %CPU and also click the System Memory tab and look to see how much FREE RAM is available at that point in time. As a general rule of thumb OS X likes to have 500MB or more of FREE RAM, if you see it's at or below 500MB then a RAM upgrade is needed or you need to reduce the amount of open windows. The graphic will look similar to:
Also I'd strongly recommend carefully reading the XLab's Spinning Beach Ball of Death article. It's an excellent guide on how to trouble shoot spinning beach ball issues.

  • I'M MAD! Majority of games/apps require 2 GHz Intel Core Duo...D:

So to start off, I have a Mac OS X 10.6.8
Processor 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo
             Memory     2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    What I want:
To be able to play games/apps
    "Why can't you?"
Because they require 2 GHz Intel Core Duo
    So my question is:
IS THERE A WAY I CAN UPGRADE TO A 2 GHz INTEL CORE DUO???
...it makes me frustrated that I have the required OS version yet I still can't play games or use simple apps because of my stupid processor...
What I've already tried (so don't suggest this):
Wine (so that I can open windows required games)
    Updating all my software
    Getting rid of unwanted files
    Downloading X11 (to run Wine)
Watched tons of tutorials on downloading desired games/apps correctly
EVEN BUYING A NEW COMPUTER (this one)
Repeating the above tactics on my new computer
What. must. I. Do. Please tell me !!

I am a gamer, and as one I very much know this. I can't even download most apps in the App Store that are specifically in the 10.6.8 category .-.
Get a PC.  They are the best gaming machines on the planet.  Macs are not gaming comps.

  • Advice on migrating from G5 to Intel Core Duo Mini

I'm running 10.5.8 on a G5 and wanting to migrate to a new Intel Core Duo Mac Mini running Snow Leopard.  I would like to migrate all of my files and settings and applications to the new machine, but am looking for advice about potential pitfalls.  I've read in some of the other discussions about problems with software from my G5 overwriting the Intel versions of the software on the newer machine, but could not glean enough from those to fully understand what the issues are.  My principal software components that I don't want to have to reinstall are things like CS3, Office 2008, and older versions of things like iMovie, etc.  I have a Time Machine backup that I could also migrate from, but don't know if that will alleviate potential problems.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Before you jump the bandwagon, make sure to have read this user tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295
Sometimes the Migration/Setup Assistant doesn't work between PowerPC and Intel Macs. The CoreDuo Mac Mini is not much of an improvement over a G5 except for the native Windows virtualization, and support for Snow Leopard, and Intel Mac only applications, and built-in Front Row support.  The Core2Duo Mac Mini on the other hand supports Lion,  and generally is faster than a G5 except for the few applications that are G5 optimized or can take advantage of the higher RAM upgrade possibilities than most of the Mac Minis, and the G5 supports Classic applications where the Mac Mini Intel versions do not.  So before getting the Mac Mini make sure all the applications or at least some can take advantage of the Mac Minis own advantages.

  • Power PC vs Intel Core Duo

ATI Radeon X600 XT with 128MB DDR video memory
    what I like
    20 inch screen
    big 250G hard drive
Price (1,699.00 for a Core duo w/ a 20in is over my budget)
    iMac 1.83Ghz Intel Core Duo
    $1,299.00

Question is.... is Intel Core Duo THAT superior to PowerPC?
Please iMac gurus ....help me out!

well, how critical and powerful is your rig? i only use my imac g4 (soon to be the G5) for ideas and such, also to trade logic files back and forth w/ a friend of mine. live I don't use, nor do i have experience with that app. my buddy, however, has dual g4's and records live music, drums, guitars, etc and really needs that added power, so ask yourself, how much will you be running. if going for the whole live band thing, i would go with the power mac. currently the system has been reliable and proven and fast enough to handle most of your tasks. the intel is fast, but still has kinks and bugs in it, and not all apps, especially 3rd party are univeral yet. that my friend, will cause your music to suffer, and you do not want that.
the m-audio oxygen 8 is what i use, in addition to the tascam us-122. neither are unversal yet, and like i said i couldn't wait for them to be released, it was interuppting my productivity. and i didn't want to go with the firewire 410 (an excellent unit by the way) because it meant more money for me to spend!

  • Is Intel Core 2 Duo same as 2 MHz Intel Core Duo?

In checking whether I can upgrade to the new operating software when it's released, I was confused by the requirement for Core 2 Duo.  Is it the same as a 2 MHz Intel Core Duo?

The easiest way to check for you would be to click on the Apple in the menu; choose about this mac; then click on more info. Once the System Profiler window is open, click on Hardware on the left and take a look at the information; here is a screenshot from my Macbook (which, according to the published requirements, would definitely qualify since it plainly states "Intel Core 2 Duo"):
