Window server taking much process
Just recently update my MBP retina to yosemite, and now it starts lagging for every application I'm in
window server is taking the most percentage in CPU, and kernel_task & window server is taking 2GB of my RAM (according to activity monitor, though it may be differ with etrecheck results)

I looked through the report compiled and I found that APE (Application Enhancer) was still being called even though it doesn't exist along with OSS3D which wasn't working either. I got rid of both of those using their provided installers and it appears to work. WindowServer didn't crash which usually triggers the abnorminally high cpu usage.

MBP is lagging big time due to "Window Server" using 100% processing....
Lately my MBP has been momentarily lagging to the point where it stalls for more than 15 minutes and I have to force shutdown. The fans turn on as the MBP heats up. My only apps opened are iTunes, Firefox, Netnewswire and Mail at the time so I don't think its taking up most of my 4GB ram? Itunes is active playing songs.
I installed iStat Nano Dashboard a year ago and I decided today to check to see which app is taking up most of the processor upon this lag. I noticed it says "Window Server" is taking up 100% of my processing power. What is Window Server? I don't have my Parallels application on so I don't assume it means "Windows" as its "Window", so could it mean something related to Mac Os X?It's not due ot running Windows OS. It's always running on my Macs but at low levels--1 to 5 percent--and I have no virtualization set up. I googled "windowserver mac process" (note I left out the space) and found this "definition" in another forum:
The WindowServer does exactly what the name suggests: it acts as a server process to composite/draw windows onto the screen. It deals with taking the bitmap of each window and drawing it to the correct location on screen (as an OpenGL texture these days), layering the windows correctly and compositing them where there are translucent areas (again all done in OpenGL these days). It also handles the double buffering of windows backing stores allowing the updates to the window content to be smooth and flicker free.

One poster suggested it came from having Dashboard running, but the poster I quoted said it is not.
From what I can determine, your seeing high windowserver activity could be due to having too much stuff on your desktop. The system sees each icon as a potential new window and allocates resources to it. Too many desktop items have always slowed the Mac OS and, at some point upward of 250, can crash the system.
If your desktop have a lot of icons having about corral them into folders. If you have 100 items on the desktop and put them into six folders, the count dropped to six.
In case it is Dashboard, consider turning it off when not in use. It uses a lot of other background resources. I use the widget DashQuit to turn off Dashboard once I have the info I need. Remember, a lot of widgets have to remain active because the constantly "phone home" to update the info they display. They will eat cycles. -

I had all the same errors that AK772 mentioned, but I chose to zoom in on a different issue that the script pointed out. When I ran the "Test CA Infrastructure" step it found several errors. When I looked at what the script was doing there it was
comparing the server certificate thumbprint in the registry (HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows Server\Identity) with the personal certificates (Personal Certificates in the Certificate snap-in using MMC). When I looked through them individually, sure enough
the thumbprint in the registry didn't exist in my certificate store. I have NO idea how this could have happened!
However, from there, I changed my Google search criteria and found the following excellent article:

This told more about that error and showed how to regenerate the certificate identity in the registry. This totally saved me! Once I ran through the steps that he outlines, even though I got a timeout error towards the end, I could see that the certificate

Once I saw this, I tried going into services and manually starting the stopped "Windows Server Service Provider Registry" service. Sure enough it started right up, no error this time. Finally, I restarted the server so that all of the other dependent
services would come back up and re-ran the linked script above and everything was perfect.

I have recently purchased a Dedicated Server, and I have installed Windows Server 2008 R2. I want to use Server Manager because I don't really have that much experience with command line commands, so I wanted to use server manager, I can remotely connect
to my server but when I use Server Manager I get the error "The WinRM Client Cannot Process the Request, if the authentication scheme is different from Kerberos..." I haven't set up a domain between my PC and the Dedi, as I do not know how/or know
if this is applicable in this situation.

Windows Server 2008R2 running Remote Desktop Services reports printer process does not exist when installing PDF printer, And when Installing network printers from the domain controller it reports it cannot connect to printer. I can ping all

I'm having an issue while installing obiee 11g(11.1.1.7.0) in windows server 2012 and using the database as ms sql server 2008. During configuration process after the installation process is completed , here the process is stopped at "Step:executing opmnctl start configuration_obisch1" status "failed"

I tested also disabling antivirus on my PC and disconnect the power cord before starting the installation of JDeveloper. In both tests the result was the same.

When we try to gather performance counter information for a 32-bit process on a 64-bit computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2012, all our performance counter objects are not available with 32 bit perfmon application (C:\Windows\SysWOW64\perfmon.exe)
I didn't notified any errors while registering our counter objects or while running Perfmon.exe
Note: Same counter objects are available and working fine with Windows Server 2008 R2.
for diagnostic our counters on WIN2012, ran command as follows:
cd c:\windows\sysWOW64
lodctr /Q
I am able to see all our counter objects on response and infact all were shown as enabled, as shown below
Appreciate quiclk response with solution or clues to diagnose it more details.

same our system counter objects (ver x), we able to browse from Perfmon 32 bit app on Windows 7, Windows 2008 R2 (64bit) OS but not on Windows 2012.
I am able to see all counter objects registered as follows (same at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\HMI Alarm Class\Performance,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\HMI Alarm Class\Performance
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HMI Alarm Class\Performance)
Only difference I observed that "Disable Performance Counters" were set to 4 in Windows 2012 OS unlike other windows 7 64bit OS and there is no differnece for remaining all entires.
I tried setting that "Disable Performance Counters" value to "0", but some how they get reset to "4", no luck..
I think "Disable Performance Counters" value either "0", or "4", should not matter for browsing our counters with 32bit bit perfmon applicaiton.
Do you see any issues of registry entries. ?
On what basis perfomance monitor list few enabled counters?

Test program running taking much more time on high end server T5440 than low end server T5220

Hi, We are running domino application in windows server 2008r2 standard virtual machine, we are facing High RAM utilization issue, but there is no such process are running. Machine is running in ESXI host, most of the time it shows high RAM utilization.
We upgraded the ram from 6 to 8 GB, but still facing the issue,
Where as other VMs working fine.

Hello, Yesterday I've upgraded from Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x86 to Enterprise. After upgrade I had to download and reinstall all updates about 130. The error from the topic title appears at logon. Another thing is Automatic Updates won't start

Every time that happens I get an event ID Winlogon 4005 (The Windows logon process has unexpectedly
terminated). I am also receiving but not all the time event ID 6000 and 6003 referring to being unable to handle critical or normal events from AUinstallAgent.
Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Oracle on Unix starting a process on Windows server
I have a situation where nightly processing is done by executables on a windows server while Oracle is on a Unix server. Can anyone tell me if I can get Oracle to start a process on the windows server please?
This question arises because I understand there are problems with window's own scheduling. I don't know what version of windows it is yet, but if anyone can reassure me about the reliability of windows scheduling on any version that would be great.

I ran a few jobs for about a year using task scheduler on Windows 2000 without any issues. Database was running on Sun. But if your processes are really that important, have them write a log, analyze that log for any errors, and send an email indicating success or failure.

When I try to access to Windows Server 2003 SP2 R2 32-bit from a Windows XP SP3 32-bit and then closes the RDP from Windows XP (the client side), a fork of the explorer and its children processes will persist in the server side !!!
