Window size changed

While I was out today my husband decided to 'play' with my iMac. I came home and the size of the windows in Safari have changed totally. The windows used to go across most of my 22inch screen, but now it's not even half the size.
How can I change the window size again?

In the lower right hand corner of the window you will see 3 diagonal lines. Click on them and resize the window to the size you prefer.

  • Adobe Reader, MS Office window size changing when switching displays

    I have a current generation (mid 2012) MBP with Retina Display running ML 10.8.3. I also have a Dell U2413 monitor, confgured for
    1920x1200 resolution, connected via a Thunderbolt to Display Port cable that came with the monitor.
    When I switch displays, Adobe reader, Excel, and Powerpoint all have their window sizes change dramatically. Reader
    shrinks to just the status bar and is tucked in the very bottom left hand corner (it took me quite some time to even see it
    was there at all); Excel windows expand dramatically to be much larger than full screen, and Powerpoint windows shrink
    to about 1.5" square. Other windows (Mail, Chrome, Safari, iTunes) change or move slightly but are more or less OK.
    I know this problem is expected when switching to an external monitor with dramatically lower resolution (e.g. old In Focus
    projectors) but I don't believe it should happen with a hi-res monitor like the one I'm using.
    I have compared this behaviour with other users running same SW versions and external monitors with the same
    resoultion and they don't see this problem so I'm guessing there's some configuration option or low level setting
    that is messed up.
    These window size changes happen going both from internal to external and external to internal. Any ideas?

  • Portlet window size changes in Webcenter

    We have a custom portlet that is deployed in Webcenter in AviTrust using the Application Page Template. As we step through the screens in the portlet, the width of portlet window changes. The portlet content itself is in a div and does not specify a specific pixel width.
    I'm fairly new to this but the way I understand the DIV tag, the width of the DIV tag is determined by the enclosing container. This would imply that the width of the Webcenter containers enclosing the portlet content is not fixed.
    I know one can fix the size fluctuation by setting the size of the portlet after it is added to a page. Is there any other way to stop the size change without actually specifying a fixed width in pixels?
    Much appreciated if anyone could comment on this behaviour in Webcenter so I can be sure of the possible fixes for this issue!
    Thanks heaps.

    Thanks.
    I dont like full screen mode, I prefer to keep the window at a size which is comfortabe for me to work.
    From what you have said, it seems as if I cant prevent the main window from constantly changing size each tyime I select fit to screen.
    I am baffled, because I have been using Phtotoshop CS4 with a window size setting which stays the same regardless of how I zoom the image/canvas. Odd isn't it?

  • Misalignment in browser when window size changes

    I have two ap elements within content, one aligned to the left side of the content, the other next to it, i.e. aligned to the right side of the content.
    Preview in browsers such as IE7 and firefox in full window the content expands beyond the right alignment so there is too much white space. On the left the content moves to the right. In decreased window view content shrinks and leaves right ap element going over into the body.
    I want the elements of the site not to move when the window is collapsed and that when moving the lower nav bar the site just shows as in the full window (but partially).
    http://www.jindasing.com/index_beta.html

    Rule number 1 - don't use Absolutely Positioned divs unless you have a very good and specific reason to! As you're discovering absolutely positioned elements (like AP Divs) don't work the way you might think. They are absolutely positioned relative to their parent container! Often times this is your body tag. And they are a very inflexible tool which is why you shouldn't generally use them for layout.
    Okay but to answer your question -
    Remove this from your page:
    <style type="text/css">
    #ap_usp {
         position:absolute;
         width:591px;
         height:121px;
         z-index:1;
         left: 159px;
         top: 161px;
    #ap_logo {
         position:absolute;
         width:409px;
         height:120px;
         z-index:2;
         left: 760px;
         top: 164px;
    </style>
    And in your attached stylesheet () remove the height attribute from the .header class. Like this:
    .header {
         background: #516081;
         height: 100px; <- remove this
    Now how does it look? Better? Then to center your image, use a CSS class to give it some padding or margins.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to get header to stay centered on different browser window sizes

    Hi,
    Is there a way to change the header design so it stays
    centered and moves to accommodate different browser window sizes?
    Right now, it stays where it is, and everything else moves and
    stays centered as window size changes. I'm a new Dreamweaver user.
    the url is
    http://ellifolks.com/
    I tried changing the template I made for the site, and was
    able to delete some things, but it won't let me add things now. I
    can't undo to where it started, either. I tried doing a second
    template. Now I can't save anything -- I get a message saying
    "sharing issues".
    Thank you.

    Combining absolutely positioned elements with centering
    tables (as you have)
    accounts for about 20% of the posts on this forum. It's
    commonly done
    because it seems so easy. This is one of the penalties you
    pay for taking
    that easy road.
    The answer to your question is yes, you can do this.
    1. Make this image the page background -
    http://ellifolks.com/images/ellifolks_web_header_repeat.gif
    - and use CSS to
    give it a style of background-repeat:repeat-x.
    2. Place your assembled header within a STATIC div (i.e., NOT
    a layer) at
    the top of the page by changing this -
    <div id="apDiv1"><img
    src="images/dots_header_left.gif" width="175"
    height="192" alt="dots left" /></div>
    <div id="apDiv2">
    <div align="center"><img
    src="images/header_animals_logo.gif" width="759"
    height="195" alt="ellifolks logo" /></div>
    </div>
    <div id="apDiv3"><img
    src="images/dots_header_right.gif" alt="dots right"
    width="175" height="192" /></div>
    to this -
    <div id="header"><img
    src="images/dots_header_left.gif" width="175"
    height="192" alt="dots left" /><img
    src="images/header_animals_logo.gif"
    width="759" height="195" alt="ellifolks logo" /><img
    src="images/dots_header_right.gif" alt="dots right"
    width="175" height="192"
    /></div>
    3. Add this to your CSS -
    #header { width:1109px; margin:0 auto; }
    That should do the trick.

  • Property binding for size produces wrong results on size change

    Hi,
    I've a small class extending from BorderPane. This class contains a simple Rectangle whichs size is bound to the size of the BorderPane minus 20:
    package com.example;
    import javafx.scene.layout.BorderPane;
    import javafx.scene.paint.Color;
    import javafx.scene.shape.Rectangle;
    public class InnerBorder extends BorderPane {
        private Rectangle r = null;
        public InnerBorder() {
            this.r = new Rectangle();
            r.widthProperty().bind(this.widthProperty().subtract(20));
            r.heightProperty().bind(this.heightProperty().subtract(20));
            r.setStrokeWidth(0.5f);
            r.setFill(null);
            r.setStroke(Color.BLACK);
            this.setCenter(r);
    }Used in a small application:
    package com.example;
    import javafx.application.Application;
    import javafx.scene.Scene;
    import javafx.scene.layout.BorderPane;
    import javafx.stage.Stage;
    public class Example extends Application {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            launch(args);
        @Override
        public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
            primaryStage.setTitle("Hello World!");
            BorderPane root = new BorderPane();
            root.setCenter(new InnerBorder());
            primaryStage.setScene(new Scene(root, 300, 250));
            primaryStage.show();
    }When I change the size of the window, the size of the rectangle changes also. But the result looks a little bit strange. When a change the size too fast, the size of the rectangle will not be changed correctly. The rectangle will became larger than the window and is then, of course, not longer visible. Changing then the window a little bit slower will again result in a correct rectangle. Until the next too fast window size changing.
    Is there anything wrong on my code?
    When I use the same implementation (property binding) in a Control with a Skin, the result is even more strange. If the subtract is too small (< ~40), the size grows endless. Of course the window size doesnt grows, but the property value grows on every size change, even if the window will be smaller. This code is a little bit more, so I will post it if no one could show me an error in my sourcecode above.
    Kind regards

    Hi. I did some modifications. Now it looks OK.
    import javafx.scene.layout.BorderPane;
    import javafx.scene.paint.Color;
    import javafx.scene.shape.Rectangle;
    public class InnerBorder extends BorderPane {
       // private Rectangle r = null;
        public Rectangle r = null;
        public InnerBorder() {
            this.r = new Rectangle();
           // r.widthProperty().bind(this.widthProperty().subtract(20));
           // r.heightProperty().bind(this.heightProperty().subtract(20));
            r.setStrokeWidth(0.5f);
            r.setFill(null);
            r.setStroke(Color.BLACK);
            this.setCenter(r);
    import javafx.application.Application;
    import javafx.scene.Scene;
    import javafx.scene.layout.BorderPane;
    import javafx.stage.Stage;
    public class Example extends Application {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            launch(args);
        @Override
        public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
            primaryStage.setTitle("Hello World!");
            BorderPane root = new BorderPane();
            InnerBorder inb = new InnerBorder();
            inb.r.widthProperty().bind(root.widthProperty().subtract(20));
            inb.r.heightProperty().bind(root.heightProperty().subtract(20));
            root.setCenter(inb);
            primaryStage.setScene(new Scene(root, 300, 250));
            primaryStage.show();
    }

  • Window sizes settings have somehow changed and my windows do not open in the correct size anymore. How do I get my original window sizes to come back PERMANENTLY?

    After upgrading to FF 10.0, my window sizes are not correct. I use a web-based invoicing system and my invoice windows used to open to the size of the invoice. Now, it opens invoices in full screen. I need the invoice windows to open the way the site tells them to open. How do I make that happen again and never change after that?

    Safe mode disables the installed '''Extensions''', themes ('''Appearance''') and '''Plugins''' in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons'''. So it could be that an extension is causing it. You can try to isolate it starting with script blockers and similar extensions and '''Disable''' or '''Remove''' it.
    Please also note that safe mode also disables hardware acceleration: '''Tools''' > '''Options''' > '''Advanced''' > '''General''': '''Use hardware acceleration when possible'''.

  • After copying a file from NTFS to HFS volume, file size changed when viewing in Windows

    Hi guys,
    I have a Mac Air running Mavericks on a HFS partition and Windows 7 on a BOOTCAMP NTFS partition. I have some files that I want to read/write from/to both systems. Since OS X can't write NTFS and Windows can't write HFS either, and I don't want to use any 3rd-party tools/drivers, I have to adopt a "stupid" way: in OS X, I copy those files from NTFS to its HFS partition, make changes, then switch to Windows and sync them back to NTFS.
    The problem is, after I copied a file from NTFS to HFS in OS X, it seemed ok. But when I switched to Windows, the very copied file in HFS partition had its size changed (bigger) although I didn't make any changes to it in OS X yet. This happens to almost every file I copied, text and binary. For those text files, I tried to open it with EditPlus in Windows and EditPlus reports the correct size on the status bar.
    How could this happen?

    I am not sure if this is what your seeing but...
    The same unaltered file on two different volumes might use different amounts of disk space. This is because a 'disk' is divided in to 'blocks' and a block (also historically known as a 'sector') is a certain minimum size. So if disk-1 has a block size of 512 bytes and disk-2 has a block size of 1024 bytes then a file containing just 10 bytes will use up twice as much space on disk-2 as disk-1 even though it is the exact same file.
    Beyond that, Macs can add additional information like Spotlight tags, labels, icons, etc. which make a file bigger. If you are modifying a file then presumably that also implies adding additional content e.g. for a Word document more text and this will make it bigger. Also depending on some programs are configured or designed 'deleting' text may only mark it as deleted and not really delete. This can apply to older versions of Word which has a 'Fast Save' feature, new versions have removed this and do a proper delete.
    You would have to give more details like what you are doing to the document, what kind of document, and what the two sizes are.
    Finally, there is one other potential difference, some systems and manufacturers use 1024 as a unit for measuring file and disk sizes, some use 1000. It will be the same number of bytes in each case but 1000 bytes in one case would exactly equal 1MB, and in the other it would be 0.9765MB.

  • How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window?

    Hi champs,
    Just a simple non-technical question: How to change the default window size display font size on Lync 2013 main window on Windows 7 desktop?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Did you mean change the Lync: Change the Default Font and Color of Instant Messages just as Edwin said above?
    If not, as I know, there is no natural way to change it.
    If yes, on the latest version of Lync 2013 client, there is a new option “IM” on Lync client “Options” list. And you need to change the default Font and Color of IM in the interface of “IM”.

  • How  to change default window size?

    I'm using MX 6.0 on Mac... For some reason I can't figure out
    how to change the default window size in the work windows. Every
    time I open a new file to work on it opens to a smaller size than
    the actual page is. When opening pages dozens of times a day, it
    gets annoying to have to resize each time. I'm sure it wasn't
    always like this, but I can't figure out how to change it so the
    default size that it opens to each time is larger.

    Window | Workspace | Save Current
    This gives you the opportunity to save a current layout look
    that you like
    You might also look under
    Edit |Preferences | Status bar - but I don't see that this
    does anything
    in DWCS3

  • How to change Default Finder Windows Size?

    Hi all:
    New Finder windows show Macintosh HD and there is no problem in keeping the size or view options every time I open a new window (command + N).
    I can change "New Finder windows show" to another folder and works just as well.
    But when I open a folder in a new window (double click on an icon folder) the size of the window is very small and different from the window displayed by using command + N.
    Finder saves and applies default view options to all windows without a problem, but not the default size or in other words:
    default windows size is different from new finder windows size.
    In Snow Leopard I could change default size of all windows holding down the Shift key while dragging and changing the size but in Mountain Lion it does not work.
    I have also deleted all files .DS_Store but neither works.
    I searched a lot but can not find a solution to this problem.
    Thanks.

    As far as New Finder Windows (command+N) are concerned, there's no problem.
    All other folder's Finder Windows I have not modified manually are displayed with the default size shown in the attached image. That is the window size that I want to modify.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I'm using OSX for a long time. Now I bought a new MBA 10' with Mavericks 10.9.2. I'm really tired about ever changing window sizes after restarting my MBA, espacialy the sidebar is skipping to a wider size, then the window, I used before turning the mac of. No window opens, in exact that size I used before. Of course, I used to fix it, but never menaged to do so.
    Have you any idea to solve my problem?

    Do you uncheck the "Reopen windows when logging back in?" box? If so, does the issue occur when you leave the box checked?
    That might be the culprit.
    I hope I solved your question.
