Window Size in Safari

Is it possible to set a default window size when launching Safari and/or opening new windows in Safari?

That is how I thought it worked.
Please allow me to further expand on the issue I'm having and perhaps you can shed some light on that.
I resize the Safari window to the size I would like to be however when I open a radio streaming site I frequently use, which is a smaller window size by its default, it resets my window size and the next time I launch Safari and open a new window the window is the smaller default size not the size I set for it. The obvious solution would be to use a different web browser for the streaming site. I take it there is no way to set Safari to open a window at a certain size to prevent this from happening?

  • How do you set a default screen size for safari windows to open at ?

Hi guys, I'm running my mac mini through a 50 inch plasma. I really like that safari opens the browser at a size that's just big enough to fit the page you are viewing to; but annoyingly my flatmate keeps changing the window size to full screen. I don't like this and have tried to play around with the settings so that it opesn in a default size every time but have been unable to do so.
If anyone has any suggestions it'd be greatly apreciated as this seemingly stupid problem is realllllly annoying me.
    Cheers,
    AJ

    Evict your flatmate.

Safari always loads small window size It leaves a wide margin on both side of the window. I have to always increase size press AA several times. How can I have it bigger by default ?
Changing the font size does not work. Many Thanks

    Hi Bee
This is not what I mean. I'm not a new user of computers. Even when the window fills the screen. There are wide boarders either side,  have to press the AA serveral times to increase web page (in the tool bar top left) so that the web page fits the window.

  • Any way to lock Safari window size?

    Hi people,
As the topic saids, how do I lock the Safari window size (if there is a way to) as sometimes there are internet sites which automatically resize the window either to cover the whole desktop or to shink it to a little box, its really annoying.
Incase you guys are thinking some sorta adult sites, here's an example url: http://footlocker.eu/nikezoom/

    Hi Dimaxum,
The thing is, that site automatically expands to full screen, which I DO NOT want it to. I was wondering if there's some settings that allows me to "over-ride" those website settings and keep my normal Safari window size.

  • How To reset Safari window size back to original factory setting?

How To reset Safari window size back to original factory setting?
I resize my pages often but I don't want to always keep them at random sizes. I want to know the proper method to reset the webpage size back to it default size. Right now it's too wide, and I click the green plus button in the upper left corner and it goes down to a very small size, I click the green plus again and it returns to the Too Wide size. I just can't seem to get it to go back to the default size.
    Thanks for your help!

You could try this.   Set the safatri page to your convenience by dragging the bottom right hand corner of the page.   Quit safari, then immediately relaunch.   It should start up the same size as it was before you quit.  Then ...
Go to Safari > preferences and set the page as your home page.

  • Default page size in Safari

I can't seem to find a way to keep my Safari's setting after I've properly sized the browser page after Safari loads. After I load Safari I hit "Command +" twice and that sets the size perfectly for my eyes, monitor size, and Safari window size. How can I make it stay that size? I am only 1 year or so into the Mac systems this seems so simple but I can't figure it out. And if it can't be done, I'm very disappointed. I know Apple likes to control everything but I hope they don't limit this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Unfortunately, Safari will revert to default once you close the application.
A work around that might work for you is full screen mode.
    Download and install Glims here.
    http://www.machangout.com/
It's free and offers other great features as well. It's compatible with Snow Leopard and Safari 5.
Something else that may help is trying Zoom in System Preferences / Universal Access.

  • Dashboard and window sizes when connecting to LED display

    Hello,
I just bought the LED display yesterday...gotta say thats its beautiful....i have one problem though....when i connected it to my macbook all the window sizes (e.g safari, itunes, dashboard) were too small....I tried modifying them...but now when i disconnect the display the window sizes on the macbook are too big and out of display....the resolution on the laptop is 1280X800 and on the screen its 1920X1200
    any way to fix this?
    Thanks

My experience is that if you are connected to the larger display and then disconnect without restarting, then you will see the behaviour you are describing.
If you restart the machine after disconnecting, the MB is smart enough to make everything fit within the native (and only available) resolution.
    Good luck!

  • Setting default font size in Safari

Hi. I like to set my font size in Safari to one level below the default. I usually do this everytime I open up a Safari window and hit Command+Minus or go to View > make text smaller. Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way I could set this to default so I did not have to do it everytime I launched Safari?

    mrurmil --
You can go into the main Safari Menu, (upper left of top Menu)
    Go to Preferences>Advanced
and then lower the size font designated in
"Never use font sizes smaller than _"
Mine's set to 9 which is pretty small,
but I like it better. I believe it was set to 11 or 12 natively.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT2506 Preview is now opening full screen always.  Want it window size

All of a sudden, Preview is opening images in Full Screen only.  It used to open in a window.  I have looked everywhere to change this back from full screen to window size.  I have checked the Preferences and Get Info.  Please help and tell Apple to quit messing around with our apps.  :-)  So annoying.

Press the escape (esc) key to exit full-screen mode. Close all windows. Quit and relaunch Safari. Does the same thing happen?

  • Window Size, Resizing, "Zoom"

I have a question about Safari's windows. I have found, in comparison to Firefox, it difficult to use the resize or "zoom" function of the window options (the red, orange and green bubbles at the top left of every Macintosh window). Specifically, when I select the auto-resize (green button), I get a variety of window sizes which are meaningless to me, and I would like, as in Firefox, for the window to either maximize the screen, or return to some smaller (manually-set) size of previous.
My question for the group would be: has anyone found this to be problematic for them, or has anyone found a work-around or solution to this?

    Hello,
I just noticed that this isn't working for me in Safari or Camino. The 'zoom' button works as it should in Opera and Firefox.
I tried your suggestion Hawaiian_Starman and it always reverts back. Just makes the window smaller than I want and clicking again just moves the same small window lower on the desktop. It will work as you say, but only for that one time. With Camino it reopens new window at whatever size another one is at. Hard to try completely without losing this page.
I just upgraded to 10.5.8 yesterday and have had other oddities afterward but this is the most annoying. Not sure if it was like that before, but apparently it was according to the original poster.
Haven't found this issue elsewhere, so I will call Apple tomorrow and report back if it gets resolved.
    Thanks

  • Remember Window Size

Often I will look for a file using Spotlight. The Finder window that pops up with results is always too small and I have to expand it to see all of the columns in that window. Is there a way to fix this so I don't have to manually resize the window?

If you're looking in Safari for a Finder preference, you're not going to find it. Safari isn't part of Finder. Microsoft was the only company I know of that tried to integrate a web browser into every other function in the OS.
com.apple.finder.plist was modified when I changed the search window size, so perhaps deleting that will allow it to write the preferences.
I set the size via preference and that was it: SearchViewSettings>WindowState>WindowBounds.

  • Window size changed

While I was out today my husband decided to 'play' with my iMac. I came home and the size of the windows in Safari have changed totally. The windows used to go across most of my 22inch screen, but now it's not even half the size.
How can I change the window size again?

In the lower right hand corner of the window you will see 3 diagonal lines. Click on them and resize the window to the size you prefer.

  • Adobe Reader, MS Office window size changing when switching displays

I have a current generation (mid 2012) MBP with Retina Display running ML 10.8.3. I also have a Dell U2413 monitor, confgured for
1920x1200 resolution, connected via a Thunderbolt to Display Port cable that came with the monitor.
When I switch displays, Adobe reader, Excel, and Powerpoint all have their window sizes change dramatically. Reader
shrinks to just the status bar and is tucked in the very bottom left hand corner (it took me quite some time to even see it
was there at all); Excel windows expand dramatically to be much larger than full screen, and Powerpoint windows shrink
to about 1.5" square. Other windows (Mail, Chrome, Safari, iTunes) change or move slightly but are more or less OK.
I know this problem is expected when switching to an external monitor with dramatically lower resolution (e.g. old In Focus
projectors) but I don't believe it should happen with a hi-res monitor like the one I'm using.
I have compared this behaviour with other users running same SW versions and external monitors with the same
resoultion and they don't see this problem so I'm guessing there's some configuration option or low level setting
    that is messed up.
These window size changes happen going both from internal to external and external to internal. Any ideas?

  • Maximize Window size

New to mac, and unlike IE explores which occupies 100% of screen size, Safari only open to a maximum of 90%.
How do i maximize the Window size and get rid of the bottom tags(itune, ilife tags etc) , which bother me.
    Thanks

Safari can expand to fill your available screen width and height. You can add a simple JavaScript link to your Bookmark Bar:
    javascript:self.moveTo(0,0);self.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight);
Bookmark any page, then go into your list of all bookmarks and select the title of the bookmarks and change it to something like "Full" or "Full Size". Then go to the right-hand side of that same bookmarks bar where the URL is and select it, and paste the code above into that field.
Then just move the bookmark into the section labeled Bookmarks Bar and arrange it where you like.
If you want to get your Dock out of the way at the bottom of the screen, Control-click on the divider line between the Trash and the last program in the Dock (on the far right of the Dock) and choose Dock Preferences. In the window that appears, you can choose to have your Dock at the bottom of the screen, or on the left-hand or right-hand side. There's also a checkbox to automatically hide the Dock when your mouse isn't over it, and show it when it is.
