Window size/position

The new iTunes wont remember window size and position. Every time I open it I have to maximize the window. Why wont the program let the user and not Apple set the window size??

I have the same problem....hopefully Apple will address it soon.

  • Remembering Window Sizes/Positions in Windows 7

    Hi
    I've read this thread regarding windows folder position/size (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/5b524d53-df97-405d-835f-f081d106a19b)
    however it doesn't address my issue.
    For me, anytime I open a software, position it, play around in it and then close it, and reopen it again, it never goes back to the size/position I set it to. Same with Outlook. When I open a new email window, set its size and position, the next new email
    window is never where it needs to be.
    Is there a way for windows/outlook to remember where my software windows should be based on a position/size I give it?

    Hi,
    I would like to share the following link with you.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/235994
    You can know that how windows remembers the Window size.
    Regarding your outlook issue, you may close outlook then delete the frame key from HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Message\ and restart outlook. This will reset the window to the default size.

  • Window size/position and title question

    I can't work out how to control the position of my site
    within it's window, or the size of the window. I've tried all the
    settings in the Publish panel. I'm trying to get the flash stage
    (750 x 500) to occupy the centre of a slightly larger window (900 x
    600) which opens to that exact size.
    I also can't work out how to set the window title to anything
    other than index.

  • Prevent PDFs from Changing Adobe Window Size & Position

    Some PDF files have embedded codes to change the size and / or position of the Adobe (or Reader) window. This is a very irritating "feature" and is completely unnecessary, at best. I have looked through the various Preferences setting but nothing seems to address the problem. How do I prevent this from happening?
    Thanks.

    Thanks guys. Is there a way to prevent this action globally, i.e. for all documents, rather than just document-by-document after the fact? Any well-designed software would have a way to prevent documents from messing up my screen configuration, so I assume someone at Adobe had the wherewithall to have that as an option in Acrobat.

  • I'm trying to make the window size smaller in flash actionscript 3.0

    car1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, some122);
    function some122(event:MouseEvent):void{
       var some122:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.cnn.com/"
         navigateToURL(some122Link, "_blank");
    Everything works perfectly when I takeout the "width=800, height=596". But I only want the screen to be a certain size. Any help is greatly needed.
    Thanks

    use the javascript window.open method to control window size, positioning etc:
    function some122(e:MouseEvent):void {
    var jscommand:String = "window.open('http://www.cnn.com', 'win', 'height=800, width=596');";
    var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("javascript:" + jscommand + " void(0);");
    navigateToURL(url, "_blank");

  • Some programs won't remember window size and position

    I have a couple programs, notably ComicNerd, that won't ever seems to remember window size or position from quit to restart. I can't seems to find any evidence other people are having the same problem with the program, so I assume it's something wrong with my computer. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this? Is there some permissions problem or something?

    It's likely a corrupted Preference file
    Look in your Users/Library/Preferences folder for  .plist file with ComicNerd in it and just move it to your desktop and restart the program/computer.
    The preference file should rebuild itself, so look for it and if it's in the Preference folder then delete the one on the  desktop.
    You also might want to run ALL the cleaning and maintenance aspects of the free OnyX and reboot.
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/
    the Verify > preference (show only corrupted) should also help locate other corrupted .plist (Preference) files for similar action like you did above.

    you can specify your preferences in systemsettings->window behaviour->window rules. Just add a new entry for the application you want to start in a specific size, position, etc.
    There are tons of options there, have fun.
    edit.: forgot to say that you can also specify a rule for more than one application.
    Thanks. I always thought this was enabled by default and maybe something was off. Guess not.

  • InDesign forgets window size and position when opening

    PC with Windows 7, CS 2014.
    I set up Illustrator so that it does not open full screen (I have a 27" monitor) so that I can have panels permanently open around the edges. Close Illustrator and re-open it and it remembers the last set window position.
    InDesign remembers the position of the open panels but opens the main window full screen every time, and it's really annoying having to resize and reposition the main window every time I load InDesign.
    I upgraded from an earlier version of Adobe CS and that older version of InDesign remembered the window size and position. Why did this change?
    Can this be fixed please?

    From the InDesign top menu have you tried going to Window/Application Frame to put the application in it's own resizable frame? That will hold the window to the same size each time you open an InDesign file.

    PS: If this has already been discussed, please refer to the thread. Sorry for double post in that case.

    Try connecting to the Share as the Server Admin, make your window the size and position you want and logout again.

  • [SOLVED] Windows Size and Positioning

    Hi, I'm having this problems with windows like those of Evince or Firefox or some others. The thing is they start not maximized but their size is so big that I have to move them with my keyboard a little bit so as to be able to resize them with my mouse. This is very annoying... is there a setting for Gnome to remember last time position and size used or at least start all windows with the same size and position???
    Thank you

    Welcome,
    you could use devilspie to achieve something like that.
    Did you set the dpi?
    Regards,
    demian
    P.S.: You could use Openbox within your Gnome as Window Manager. It remembers Window sizes, uses sane defaults and can spawn Windows unter the mouse (among various other things).

  • Software to restore apps window size and position after change in screen resolution

    I use a 27' iMac'10 with SL 10.6.8, running it at 2560x1440 screen resolution.
    Whenever I have to attend meetings via GoToMeeting or Webex and need to present, the resolution is too high, since most participants are on 15' laptops or even iPad's these days.  Therefore, I reset the screen resolution to 1600x900 for the time of the presentation.
    After the meeting is over, I reset the resolution back to 2560x1440.
    Problem: After the reset, all my apps are scaled and out of place, so I need to manually reset them to their original sizes and positions.  I use Divvy to make this a bit less painful, but still it's a manual chore.
    Is there any software out there that let's me restore my windows to the exact settings they were the last time before I changed screen resolution?

    I agree, the ability to remember window sizes and positions when switching between laptop and using the Thunderbolt display would be very useful.  It's like your Mac remembering the volume level depending on whether you have headphones plugged in or not.

  • Screen Position & Scaling to Fit Window Size

    Hi there!
    I was hoping someone might be able to help me or point me in
    the direction of help! I'm not sure if I'm asking a really stupid
    question! I'm also not sure of what I'm asking for is called so
    I've looked at existing examples on the web to illustrate my
    questions.
    I've come across this website (
    http://www.toshiba-emi.co.jp/hikki/index_f.htm)
    which features a swf which is displayed at 100% width and height,
    and with no scaling.
    Firstly, I was wondering how the background photo can be
    rescaled depending on the window size, even with the noscale param?
    Secondly, I'd like to know how the 'Last Update' box always
    aligns to the bottom left and the title box always aligns to the
    top left. Another website (
    http://www.square-enix.co.jp/kingdom2fm/)
    shows similar with elements snapping to the extremities of the
    screen while the main content stays centred.
    Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'd really
    appreciate any help you can give me!

    I'm studying for the CLD and I notice that one of the requirements is this:
    Develop block diagrams to fit a screen resolution of 1024 x 768.
    When I create a new VI, its resolution is slightly too big: 1110 x 768.
    When I create a subVI via the menu item Edit >> Create SubVI, it is way too small: 800 x 543.
    For both methods of creating new VIs, I would like to specify both the screen position and window size. But if that is not possible in LabVIEW, I'd like a quick way to make this happen. I see some property nodes for VIs where I could write a subVI that could do this for the front panel, but that is awkward. And it does not apply to block diagrams.
    Is there a clever way to do these things?
    It doesn't mean the default size of the window. It means once your code is complete, your block diagram should be small enough that you can see all your code when its on a monitor of that resolution. Before you test, set your computer monitor resolution to 1024x768. Write your code. If all the code on your block diagram can be seen without scrolling, you will be fine. They won't measure this explicitly. They are basically just saying "you shouldn't have a huge block diagram."

    That's what APDivs do.  This is the single most common problem new people have with web page layouts.  DO NOT use positioning.  You don't need it.  Start over.  Learn to use CSS floats, margins and padding to align elements.
    Below is a basic HTML5 Layout.  View source in browser to see the code.

  • Creating a site without scroll bar and dependent of window size

    Hi,
    I want to create a site that appears in the browser window without a scrolling bar, so all content is shown in that window and you don't have to scroll down (unless window size is ridicrously small).
    Of course, there are contents that will not fit in the window like long texts but then I want this block of text to have its own scrolling bar so the only thing that scrolls is the text and not the other elements.
    at http://www.artofwalls.com/rosannawalls you can see my attempts.
    In the home page you can see how the background picture always adapts to the size and aspect of the browser window and how the menu keeps its position related to the lower left corner of the window. But if you click in "Biografia" (SEE BELOW) you can see a text that is too long so you have to scroll the screen to read it. What I want is this text appear inside the white transparent box and the height of this box end near the bottom of the window. To read the full text a scroll bar should appear inside this box and this scroll bar should scroll only the text inside the box, just like in the text box I'm writing this post now.
    EDIT: DUE TO A BUG IN MUSE I HAVE ALREADY REPORTED LONG AGO, YOU CAN'T SEE THE PAGE BIOGRAFÍA BECAUSE IT IS EXPORTED AS biografía.html AND THE SERVER DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE INTERNATIONAL CHARACTER (THE SOLUTION PROPOSED BY ADOBE WAS TO UPLOAD THE SITE TO BUSINESS CATALYST BECAUSE THEIR SERVER HAS NO PROBLEM WITH INTERNATIONAL CHARACTERS, BUT ALMOST ANY OTHER SERVER IN THE WORLD DO)
    SO, TO SEE THE PAGE I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU HAVE TO GO TO http://www.artofwalls.com/rosannawalls/biograf%eda.html
    Another strange side effect is in this page the menu has disappeared completely. If you scroll down all the page you will see the menu is not there.
    Another thing I would like is to adapt the size of the white transparent box to the size of the browser window.
    Here: http://www.margomusic.com/ you can see a page I made in Flash where you can see what I mean with the scrolling text inside the box (just let the intro pass and you will see the text)
    And here: http://www.anemaecore.net is another page that adapts perfectly to the size of the browser window, but also made in Flash and also this site changes the size of the text instead of the size of the text container.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks for the replies. I guess I did not ask the question correctly so I will try to explain it better.

    I have downloaded a folder and I need to add it to my blog which is only on my server. I do not have a Dreamweaver site. Surely Dreamweaver isn't that archaic that you can't upload a file or folder to a server without having to create a site first. It was so much easier in GoLive.

  • Holding Spotlight window size and others

    Hope this is easy no brainer that I can't remember- When I open spotlight into it's finder window (I am using cover flow mode) I have to always resize it to a larger view. How can I get it to remember the last open window size? I see this happen in some others windows as well.

    Hello, I'm new to OS X, recently coming from Windows, and I was hoping someone could help me with something. I'm constantly bringing my Mac Mini from work and home, so the resolution is constantly changing
    I assume you're changing resolution because of very different monitors in the two places?
    That's the cause of the problem, obviously. 99.9% of users want things to remain the way they left them.
    . . . Never save windows position and size, always keeping them at OS X default. Is there a way to turn off the save windows position and size feature, or do I need to find and delete files holding these values.
    Unfortunately, no. This is done by each application, and if you delete the files, they'll come back each time you use the app again (and for most apps, you'll lose all their "preferences" as well.)
    Many apps will resize their windows to fit on (but not necessarily fill) the screen, if you click the green button in their menubars. In most cases that's probably not what you want, but may be the best you can do.
    The only other option I can think of is to find some way to use the same resolution for both monitors.
