And the following line is "In the Property Editor window, set any relevant properties." - where is the property window and what properties do I want to set and to what value?

Regrading full windows drag in remoteapp

Hi,
I've set up the "disable full window drag:i:1" setting in the rdp file for a remoteapp program, but it does not work.
Using windows 7, RDP 7.1 (haven't upgraded to 8.0).
Doesn't this setting work for remoteapps?

What works is the following:
On the client computer, go to "System"->"Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows" and disable the "Show windows contents while dragging".
But like i said the earlier response, that disables it for all windows, both local and remoteapp. So basically, I'm asking, is it possible to do it for only the remoteapp windows?
As you can see in the 2nd post you added in your response, he also had to set it up on the client.

Firefox 4 stops opening new windows after browser window dragged to second display

Firefox 4 stops opening new windows after browser window dragged to second display. It's weird. Behavior is fine until I drag any browser window to the attached second display, and after this point it stops opening new windows but will still open new tabs in the same window. Restart fixes it until I drag the window back to the second display.
"Show all bookmarks" stops working too--won't open a new window.
This is after clean reinstall with total deletion of any Firefox/Mozilla folders and the previously installed app and a restart of the computer.

Photoshop 13.0.5 window dragging issue (OS X)

Hello everyone! I'm having one small issue abou this: when I drag an open document window partially off the screen, somehow like this:
then release it, and then drag back, the sides that have been hidden (outside the screen) won't redraw until I release mouse button:
Haven't noticed such behavior until 13.0.5 (upgraded directly from 13.0.1).

What's your exact version of the OS, and what are the model and specs of your video card?
The reason I ask is that I see the very same behavior in Photoshop 13.0.5 under OS X Lion 10.7.5, but then I know I have an underpowered video card with only 256 MB of VRAM, and Photoshop never fails to inform me so every time it launches.
A video card upgrade with 1 GB of VRAM should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll report back once I install it.

Window Drag Lag

I have a JFrame with a bunch of little green and red lights (icons) on JLabels. It essentially shows the status of somethings with those lights. They get updated via UDP messages...about 112 a second. I only repaint when a status changes (so i don't get bogged down with repaints).
I have a class that extends thread, with the priority set to 1. This thread receives the UDP messages and processes them. Lastly I have a Swing Timer that is fired 1 second after the last message is received, but if a new one comes it, the timer is reset. If no messages are received for 1 second, the timer is fired.
All goes well until someone grabs the frame and starts dragging it all over...the CPU usage goes up, and my thread processing the UDP messages comes to a hault and the timer gets fired. Even though i set the priority to 1, it still does this. Why does dragging the frame cause this seperate thread to pause? This happens in both Windows (paints while dragging) and on Solaris (does not paint while dragging). The CPU usage is sitting around 50% while dragging the window all over, so it's not like there isn't enough CPU to do this. And where it freezes in the code is not consistant, for instance sometimes it pauses on timer.reset(), sometimes on multiSocket.receive(packet) (not swing related), and sometimes in other places.
Is there any way to prevent or correct this issue?

In LV6.1 is there any way to prevent window dragging other than making the title bar invisible?

Check out this other Discussion Forum link. It looks like making the title bar invisible would be the best way to do this unless you were able to determine the Windows system DLL calls that would be needed to do this.

Ok this worked to solve the error.
Use cmd prompt in windows 7 or 8 and run as admin:
sc config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi
sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled
No need for all that power shell nonsense as shown elsewhere for windows 8.
That's it. Also force smb2 disabling on the apple side for good measure.
With the above I was able to network mavericks and windows 8.1 pro flawlessly. He issues I had before where I could not read video, ISO and audio files (but could open documents and pictures from the windows machine connected to an apple network share folder went away.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.

Does anyone know how to use pages so you can export pdfs from the internet and automatically drag words from the document into the file name of the pdf (i.e., author, title of a scientific paper). For example, if I am downloading a paper by smith called "Surgery" that was published in 2002, it will automatically set the file name in the download to smith- surgery 2002. I have heard pages is smart enough to do this.

Pages can export only its own documents. They may be exported as PDF, MS Word, RTF or Text files.
Pages can import (ie. Open a file as, or Insert a file into, a Pages document) documents in several formats, but won't rename the document as you describe. Documents that can be Opened (eg. Text, AppleWorks 6 WP, MS Word files) are converted to Pages documents, and retain their original names, with .pages replacing the original file extension. Files that can be Inserted (generally .jpg, .pdf and other image files) become part of the existing Pages file and lose their names.
It may be possible, using AppleScript, to extract the text you want and to Save a Pages file using that text as the filename, but that would depend in part on being able to identify which text is wanted and which is not.
How will the script determine where the author's name begins and where it ends?
How will the script recognize the beginning and of the title, an decide how much of the title to use in the filename?
How will the script recognize the year of publication?
For papers published in a specific journal, with a strict format for placing each of these pieces on information, or containing the needed information as searchable meta data in the file, this might be possible. But it would require knowledge of the structure of these files, and would probably handle only papers published in a specific journal or set of journals.
Outside my field of knowledge, but there are some talented scripters around here who might want to take a closer look.

Splitter and new HD TVs

I haven't called Verison yet; I wanted to research. I have a 5-port splitter (1in, 4out) where FiOS comes into the house. One of the ports goes to the attic where I have another splitter for multiple TVs. We had no problems until recently when we moved a 2nd HD TV upstairs (fed from the attic). With one HD TV and no splitter upstairs all is fine. As soon as I add the splitter, channels 570 and 574 start to pixilate. I though the splitter had gone bad so I ordered a new one from FiOS. It had no effect.
What can be done? We have four outlets fed from the attic. Once our daughter moves out, 2 will of the TVs will be HD but cable is run to all 4 outlets.
I read that an amp is not the answer since its not compatible.

It's probable that you simply have too much signal loss. First, you should only have as many split outputs as you have STB's -- additional splits add additional loss and additional points for interference to enter. Any outputs which don't have an STB on them if they can't be eliminated entirely should have a terminator on them so that no signal leakage can occur.
Essentially, you want your network to be as flat as possible with as short as possible a run between each STB and the ONT and between each STB and the Router.
A two-way (one in, two out) splitter loses -3db at each output.
A three-way splitter typically loses -3db on the leftmost output and -6db on the right two outputs (but I have seen cheap ones which lose -6db across every output)
A four-way splitter typically loses -6db across all outputs (but I have seen ones which lose -3db out the left most, -6db out the second, and -9db out the last two).
Most splitters usually show the loss for each output.
Try to think about how you would set this up if all you had were two-way splitters. Then design it so that you can have the shortest path for each STB to the ONT and the Router. Once you have that, you should be able to figure out where you could substitute in 3-way or 4-way splitters.
In particularly, I believe you need to start with a two-way splitter -- and send one output up to the attic before you split it again and the other to the downstairs areas.
If after you do this and reduce your splitter counts and remove any "open" coax outputs, you still have pixelization, then it's possible that Verizon may need to provide some amplification (there are amps available, but you can't use the ones you pickup at the typical electronics store).

For the sake of clarity and to save people time, Todd is asking about the behaviour of the Patch tool when using it to repair the area next to the young lad's head. Todd gets a blurred dark tone pretty much regardless of the options he uses.
IMO that's what I would expect to happen because of the close proximity of the other image elements i.e. the lad's neck and the strong lines of his shirt. I would not choose to use the Patch tool in this situation. Content Aware Fill makes a better stab at it.
