Window title borders flashing...in OSX 10.8.3 ....weird

I have a Late 2010 Macbook Air running OSX 10.8.3, recently the title borders of any open windows (safari, excel, word) flashes from its normal grey color to a lighter grey color. I honestly have no idea what is causing this, but the flashing is occurring about every 15-20 secs and is so annoying. Is there anyway, I can use activity monitor or something else to sort this out. By the way, if I log out and just log in as a guest, it does not occur. However, even if I do a safe boot, the flashing still occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. Rob

In essence, I keep getting frequently "bounced" from an open window to the finder and then back to the open window (thus, causing the "flashing effect"...therefore whenever I work in an open app, it gets interrupted for a few seconds because I'm in the finder...then back again. So frustrating as I have no idea what's causing this "buggy" behavior.

Turns out it was Perian causing the problem. Allowing it to update itself seems to have solved the problem.

Window title and borders for Render Window (3D Picture Control)

Hi all,
some more questions on the 3D picture control.
I use the external render window, because in the solarsystem.vi demo, the 3d picture control appears to be very slow. The render window is much faster there. (I haven't tried it for my application though.)
I'd like to display a full screen 3D animation. How the hell do I get rid of the window title bar (I can set it to empty, but the bar itself remains), and the borders of the render window?

The update speed of the solarsystem example is 2 ms (in the timeout event). This would result in 500 updates per second, witch is totally redundant. Put it on 33 ms, and you'll still get smooth updates, and much better performance! No monitor will update 500 times a second, and your eye can only see 25-30 frames per second anyway.
With this, you could probably use the normal 3d control (indicator actually). The window doesn't have any way to remove the title bar.
(You can do some things with window API's, but removing the titlebar is only possible by creating a new class, a new window, and then it would be impossible to tell LabVIEW to use this window...)
If you'd make the render window full screen, how would you close your application? There is no way (or I'm missing it) to get events back from the render window.

I may have just solved my own problem. Right after posting this I googled bezel lightroom and found this: Flickr: Discussing The word 'bezel' appears in the taskbar. in Adobe Lightroom
I changed the setting in the view menu and now everything appears to be working fine. I cannot explain why it stopped working before because I hadn't made any previous changes to the view options.
Still am curious about the memory usage, though.

Need to Remove the tabs group Title from browser window title

When I use a saved tab group, which means I named that tab group in FF 5,''' the name of the tab group appears at the top of the browser along with the title of the web page I am viewing'''. Not good, I need to remove that tab group title from the browser window title, so I am only seeing the title of the webpage, and nothing from the tab group. How do I do that?

Setting a dynamic urxvt window title

Hi,
I'm using urxvt windows for alot of apps and I don't like to have 6 windows in the taskbar that all say "urxvt [Number]").
That's why I would like to have either the name of the last app started in urxvt or at least a tail output of what's currently in there.
I understood that with
printf '\33]2;%s\007' "foo"
I can set the window title to foo but that was it.
Does anyone know if/how I can put something dynamic to the console title bar?
Doesn't have to be urxvt, but would be cool.

Following skymt suggestion, I found this script which should make the preexec() and precmd() work in bash too, but I'm too newbie to figure out how the whole works

how do acces the files on a Microsoft windows 7 system that I have previously accessed?

Well as I pointed out in my post, "Sadly, my Text Edit documents are still all there, every single time I opened them and made a small change, there is another copy stretching all the way back to the day I installed Mountain Lion." so if you can explain to me how July 26 - Aug 16 is a week, I will concede that it is a good idea. Short of that, no I have been capable of making my own backups since I was 16 years old (16 years ago) I don't need my computer to endlessly do it for me in a way I am completely unable to shut off. That's what I have external hard drives, flash drives, a DVD burner, Drop Box, E-mail (as in emailing copies to myself) and icloud for. If I am doing something and I don't have access to a single one of those options, I don't know why I brought my computer with me in the first place. And I don't see how you can say it's an illusory gain in disk space, hundreds of copies of text documents, garageband files, Final Cut files, Motion Files and basically any program that makes files onto my comptuer that I can myself make incremental changes to, those all need to be stored somehow. Again, if you can explain to me how July 26 - Aug 16 is a week, I will agree with you that that is a good thing because IF it only saved for a week, it wouldn't be an issue. Sadly, no matter how many links you post, I still have text edit backups stretching from today back to July 26. Click on it, choose Get Info from the File menu, and check the format.
If it's formatted as NTFS, reformat it as MS-DOS, exFAT, or Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as desired, or install software such as Paragon NTFS on the computer.
If it's formatted as FAT32 or exFAT, use the Disk Utility's Repair Disk command on it; this may also happen for a flash drive which is about to fail.
If it's formatted as Mac OS Extended, click Authenticate and provide your administrator password, or change the permissions on that specific folder in its Get Info window.

it shows 249 MB... and it is like a folder.. not the usual iphoto library icon... i reinstalled mac osx mavericks and used migration assistant to backup from time machine.. i migrated everything except applications in the first go and then used migration assistant again to backup applications...after that when i opened iphoto, it opened with all events and their info, like number of pictures, but there were no pictures... now iphoto opens and asks which photo library do u want iphoto to use.. and the window is blank... and then there are 3 buttons.. other library, create new and choose.. ( choose is greyed out)

My window tab is showing a different domain how to edit window title

when I type http://clear-tinnitus.org my window tab is showing videogamesplus.org which is another of my sites.I cloned my video site and copied it to my tinnitus site but I don't know how to edit the windows tab to reflect the tinnitus site.It is showing the cloned site instead.
I was given these instructions but not clear how to do it:

The variable docContent is a fully formed html document, complete with <head> and <title> elements, yet <cfdocument> doesn't pick up the title I've specified. I'm wondering if anyone has done this before???

Yes, I tried that, but <cfdocument> replaces any content that I add. I cannot view the source for the page, but at least according to FireBug, when I view the page contents, I get:

The id you obtained from xprop is the WM_CLIENT_LEADER, also listed in the WM_HINTS as the group leader. So that appears to be something like a root window for Firefox, not necessarily the one you see (with the title you want).

If running on the web you can use webutil or SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY (title). You can use GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(usename) as well.

Boots to windows startup screen, flashes blue screen, restarts and repeats

Alright, so here is my issue. I turn on my pc and it gets as far as the windows startup screen, flashes a blue screen error for about half of a second and then restarts it self. My HDD is recognized in the bios. Tried a memory test in diagnostics and it passes. Tried a hard disc check and it passes the SMART check but fails the Long DST with a failure ID of 0GF21L-0006LR-WPVX0K-61C703 (no idea if those a zeros or O's)
I've also tried the startup repair but it did nothing. So I removed the hard drive and tried to use it in a different PC but had the same issue so I figured the hard drive went bad. Then I tried formatting a spare hard drive and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 on it, tried it on a different PC and it works just fine. However, when I try to use that hard drive on the HP ENVY I get the exact same problem even though it worked just fine on a differenct pc.
I purchased this PC refurbished about 3 months ago, the warrenty just ended a week ago. There have been no hardware or software changes on it at all. This thing worked flawlessly last night... I locked the computer before bad and I woke up to this. No power outages over night or anything. It just doesn't make any sense.

Here are the specs for your HP ENVY h8-1414 Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model came from the factory with Windows 8 installed. The "blue screen" and restart are normal for Windows 7, when it encounters an error, unless you have altered the default settings.
The LONG DST failure is indicative that the hard drive has failed or is about to fail. Unless the hard drive is moved to an identical or very similar computer, Windows will encounter a "blue screen. This is true with the original hard drive moving from the h8 computer to the other computer and the test hard drive from the other other computer moving to the h8 computer.
Try placing the "test" hard drive in the h8 computer and installing Windows 7 from a DVD or USB stick. If you have any problems, please post back with full error messages and screen shots. Also indicate what stage of the install Windows 7 was doing tat the time.

Can I install Windows ON a flash drive or on flash memory?

All over the internet I see questions from people wanting to install Windows from a USB flash drive with varying results, but my question is different. I want to install Windows ON removable flash memory. I would like to purchase a MacBook Air, but would like to also continue making use of Boot Camp without taking up too much of my limited hard drive space. I've found fast 3.0 USB sticks and flash cards that would be nice, but can they be treated as a partition in order to install and run Windows?

Ignoring the fact that Windows doesn't really support booting from removable media (you might be able to force it if you are willing to build a custom installer), I can think of another reason you wouldn'r want to consider this. Windows is notorious for heavy usage of the swap file, and I believe I recall reading one report where someone had managed to install Windows to a flash drive, and within 30-60 minutes, the OS had written to the swap file so much that the flash memory was beginning to fail. Remember that each time you write to flash memory, it cases a small amount of damage to the memory, and after a significant number of writed, it will fail. Regretfully, the Woindows swap file will cause this threshhold to be reached very quickly, and then you start getting write errors...
