Window Virtual PC-Unexpected Error
I've recently installed a collection of VMs available at www.modern.IE site. Tools for Web Developers from Microsoft. I've successfully deployed 3 of 4 VMs. I encountered the following message when trying to open the IE9-Win7 VM:
IE9-Win7 Error - The virtual
machine configuration named 'IE9 - Win7' could not be found. Either the
configuration file (.VMC) file is missing or you do not have sufficient
permissions to access it. (0x80004003)
In reviewing the message references I did not identify an issue with permissions and confirmed the presence of the .VMC file. I've also tried file download/extract a second time-no change.
I'd greatly appreciate advice/feedback regarding this matter.
Thank you.
Hi,
From the error message it seems the VHD file has corruptedso it cannot load automatically.
Do you mean other two image works but this affected image?

After moving all photographs from my first catalogue, which was a mess, to a new catalogue, it all worked fine. Until that is I tried to open the new catalogue, which had worked OK all day. I now get a window that says "Unexpected error, select another catalogue."
OK, restart in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. It's possible one or more is corrupt. To restart in Safe Mode when you hear the start up tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar. Let it fully boot then restart normally and test.
Also I am assuming you have checked Finder - Preferences - General and see what boxes are checked in "Show these items on desktop." You can also mount an item in Disk Utility, simply highlight it and then look in the File menu for Mount..... -

Bootcamp: "Could not partition Windows 7, An unexpected error occurred"
Bootcamp keeps giving me an error when I try to partition sapce for Windows 7 (x64). When I set the space for Windows and hit "Install," it installs for about a fifth of the way before it gives me an error message. Any help would be appreciated as I really need this Windows partition to run certain programs. Thanks in advance
Tips I received so far (thanks to A-Mac via Twitter http://www.a-mac.nl and Remco Kalf http://www.remcokalf.nl/)
- make sure you have at least 10% of your harddisk in free space (I had only 5%).
- do a PRAM-reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379)
- perform a hardware test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)
- make a complete backup (with for example Carbone Clone Copier, see http://www.bombich.com/)
- after complete backup: use diskwarrior (boot from Diskwarrior DVD, first perform diagnostics, then perform "Rebuild" which rebuilds your file directory).
So far I only cleared up some space on my HD, and already the problem occurs less.
Still, I will go through the other tips too.
(will post progress) -
"Windows encountered an unexpected error" while configuring devices
I've run into an interesting issue after upgrading from SP1 to R2. Two of my images are failing while Windows configures devices at 72%. The models are Lenovo x131 and x140 which were previously working before the upgrade. All other images are working correctly
100% of the time and these are failing around half the time, working the other half. It may help to note that these two are the only non domain bound images I have.
What I've done:
Downloaded the latest Lenovo driver packs and created new driver packages
Tried both a fresh Win 7 wim straight from disk and one that was 100% offline patched
Created task sequence from scratch
Copied existing task sequence with new driver packages.
None of these steps have changed the fact that it constantly fails or works. All other images are working as they did before the upgrade.Unfortunately the smsts.log has not been helpful to us. This is in the portion after the OS is applied and drivers are applied. It reboots and windows boots up and begins configuring and configuring devices. I have not been able to pull a log from that
step as you can't bring up a command prompt during that configuration. I could drop the drive in another computer if there is a log of what device is causing it to fail. -

gsnx.security.Login
* LdapLoginModule Options:
* ldap-url - LDAP connection URL, such as ldap://localhost:389
* e.g. ldap-url="ldap://192.168.31.63:389"
* dn-mask - The DN mask for user. The number 0 refers to the parameter
* number for username. If this is specified then user search is ingored.
* **This option is DEPRECATED**.
* e.g. dn-mask="cn={0},ou=People,dc=gsnx,dc=com"
* initialContextFactory - Class name of the initial context factory
* e.g. initialContextFactory="com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory"
* connection-username - The DN used by the login module itself for authentication to
* the directory server.
* e.g. connection-username="uid=admin,ou=system"
* connection-password - Password that is used by the login module to authenticate
* itself to the directory server
* e.g. connection-password="password"
* connectionProtocol - The security protocol to use. This value is determined by the
* service provider. An example would be SSL.
* e.g. connectionProtocol="ldap"
* authentication - The security level to use. Its value is one of the following
* strings: "none", "simple", "strong".
* e.g. authentication="simple"
* user-search-base - the base DN for the user search
* e.g. user-search-base="ou=users,ou=system"
* user-search-pattern - filter specification how to search for the user object.
* RFC 2254 filters are allowed. For example: (uid=user1). To parameterize the value
* of the CN attribute type, specify (uid = {0}). The number 0 refers to the parameter
* number for username. This query must return exactly one object.
* e.g. user-search-pattern="uid={0}"
* user-search-scope-subtree - Directory search scope for the user (ture | false)
* ture - directory search scope is SUBTREE
* false - directory search scope is ONE-LEVEL
* e.g. user-search-scope-subtree="true"
* user-password-changepw-gsnx-handler - hander to change password
* If this handler is not specified, the change password feature will not be available
* if "com.gsnx.core.server.security.LdapLoginModule", is used the the
* option - user-password-attribute is required.
* e.g. user-password-changepw-gsnx-handler="com.gsnx.core.server.security.LdapLoginModule"
* user-password-attribute - attribute in LDAP that stores the user password
* If this is not specified, the change password feature will not be work
* when "com.gsnx.core.server.security.LdapLoginModule", is used as
* user-password-changepw-gsnx-handler
* e.g. user-password-attribute="userPassword"
* role-search-base - The base DN for the group membership search
* e.g. role-search-base="ou=groups,ou=system"
* role-name-attribute - LDAP attribute type that identifies group name attribute in the object
* returned from the group membership query. The group membership query is defined
* by the role-search-pattern parameter. Typically the group name parameter is "cn".
* e.g. role-name="cn"
* role-search-pattern - The filter specification how to search for the role object.
* RFC 2254 filters are allowed. For example: (uniqueMember = {0}). The number 0
* refers refers to the DN of the authenticated user. Note that if role membership
* for the user is defined in the member-of-like attribute (see user-role-name
* parameter) you may not need to search for group membership with the query.
* e.g. role-search-pattern="(uniqueMember={0})"
* role-search-scope-subtree - Directory search scope for the role (ture | false).
* ture - directory search scope is SUBTREE
* false - directory search scope is ONE-LEVEL
* e.g. role-search-scope-subtree="false"
* user-role-attribute - LDAP attribute type for the user group membership. Different LDAP
* schemas represent user group membership in different ways such as memberOf,
* isMemberOf, member, etc. Values of these attributes are identifiers of groups that
* a user is a member of. For example, if you have: memberOf: cn=admin,ou=groups,dc=gsnx,
* specify "memberOf" as the value for the user-role-name attribute. Be aware of the
* relationship between this parameter and group membership query. Typically
* they will return the same data.
* e.g. user-role-name="memberOf"

# "provider" refers to a package or set of packages that supply a
# concrete implementation of a subset of the cryptography aspects of

# Each provider must implement a subclass of the Provider class.
# To register a provider in this master security properties file,
# specify the Provider subclass name and priority in the format
# security.provider.<n>=<className>
# This declares a provider, and specifies its preference
# order n. The preference order is the order in which providers are
# searched for requested algorithms (when no specific provider is
# requested). The order is 1-based; 1 is the most preferred, followed
# by 2, and so on.
# <className> must specify the subclass of the Provider class whose
# constructor sets the values of various properties that are required
# for the Java Security API to look up the algorithms or other

# There must be at least one provider specification in java.security.
# There is a default provider that comes standard with the JDK. It

I am running Hyper-V in Windows 8.1 on a late 2011 27 inch iMac. Whenever I try to create a virtual machine I get the error below and Windows warns that it will restart in 1 minute. I tried a clean install of Windows, but my PC still crashes ever
time I try to create a VM. I was able to successfully use Hyper-V in prior versions of Windows on this same PC. Any clue as to what is going on? A driver? Windows 8.1? Mac Hardware related?
I see the following two entries in event viewer but have no other clue as to what is happening:

I am assuming that the win8.1 is in-place updated from win8 .
Maybe you need to check the state of hypervisorlaunchtype .
If it is off , please run command " bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto "

vm_info: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (1.5.0_05-b05) for windows-x86, built on Aug 26 2005 15:10:30 by "java_re" with MS VC++ 6.0I am new to this thread. We see essentially the same error while running JBoss 4.0.4 (which includes Tomcat 5.5.17) on JDK 1.5.0_14. My specific error is generated while compiling a particular class in the JRC library from Crystal. It is worth noting that this 3rd-party library is 100%-pure Java.
I am unable to find a current bug for internal error 4A41564123414C4C530E4350500018 against 1.5.0_14. Would it make sense to enter one?
Here are a few notes:
- Due to published JBoss incompatibilities we cannot validate this issue against JDK 1.6
- The error only happens on a 64-bit server-grade machine running a 32-bit JVM on Windows 2003
- The error happens in the 32-bit Windows version of both 1.5.0_08-b03 & 1.5.0_14-b03
- The error is not reproduceable in the 64-bit Windows version of 1.5.0_08-b03
- The error completely goes away with the following VM argument:
-XX:CompileCommand=exclude,com/crystaldecisions/reports/reportdefinition/AdornmentProperties,intThe crash logs are below. Any help would be most appreciated.

vm_info: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.5.0_06-b05) for windows-x86, built on Nov 10 2005 11:12:14 by "java_re" with MS VC++ 6.0Hi. There is nothing in even the most homicidal Java code
that can cause such an error. It is only native code that
can do it, and the two main suspects here are the JVM
itself or the OCI client libraries used by the Oracle driver
when connecting in the OCI/type-2 mode. Neither the
JVM author or Oracle will be lightly entrained in an effort
to debug it (C code is hard), unless you can provide a
small reliable reproducer program.
I highly recommend an alternative, that you switch to
using the driver in the all-Java/type-4/thin mode. It will
be much more reliable in this regard, and nowadays, the
thin driver can be toled to use the tnsnames.ora file for
connectivity info, so you can retain any administration
value/custom that uses those files.
Please say if there are any other reasons you can't do
that, and if so, the first steps would be to upgrade to the
latest OCI client and latest JVM, to see if the problem has
been fixed already.
Good Luck,
Joe Weinstein at BEA Systems -
I upgraded to Yosemite, and now Safari will not even load. It immediately goes to the "quit unexpectedly" error window, with the following information (which means nothing to me, of course). I've seen others posting issues like this, but have yet to see a solution. Apparently I cannot just reinstall Safari, so do I need to figure out how to uninstall the upgrade and try again? Is this worth it, or should I just uninstall and go back to my prior OS until Apple can provide a clean upgrade? Anyone know the answers?

Windows 8 - Right Click Network Connection Properties - An unexpected error occurred
Hi,
I'm encountering an issue with a relatively new Windows 8 Pro x64 install (Been running about a week).
When attempting to right click on the Network Connection and select "Properties", I receive the following error:
"An unexpected error occurred"
The error also occurs when trying to disable the adapter. The network connection DOES work though. I have received an IP from my DHCP router and have network/internet access.
I have tried the Windows XP/7 "fix":
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\netshell.dll, and then click OK.
3. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
Test to see if you can open the properties of the network connection in the Network Connections folder.
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\ole32.dll, and then click OK.
3. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
4. Restart the computer.
Both did NOT work. I have also attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the Network Driver. I have also tried "SFC /scannow".
Neither of these worked either.

Portege 600-Windows Setup experienced an unexpected error - Error Code: 0x0
Hi,
During a Windows 7 upgrade I am getting the following error message. Windows Setup experienced an unexpected error - Error Code: 0x0.
Searching on web I've found recommendations for setting the DMA on the optical drive (can't), updating the bios (done), checked the media (DVD Toshiba supplied Windows 7 upgrade disk) all seems OK visually and turning off antivirus (AVG resident shield turned off). I still get the same error.
Help would be appreciated.
ThanksOn which step is this error message shown?
I have done this upgrade several times successfully and without error messages.
Have you followed instructions how to do upgrade to Win7 using second component CD that removes all non-compatible tools and utilities before Win7 upgrade installation? -

Windows Journal cannot open " ". An unexpected error occurred in Windows 7 Professional
I copied my Windows Journal Notes from a tablet with Windows XP Tablet PC edition onto my Windows 7 Computer. When I try to open a note from the pull down "look-in" menu within the Windows Journal program, I gives me the error
"Windows Journal Cannot open. An unexpected error occurred." I thought this was a problem with my computer, BUT have replicated this same error on every computer in Best Buy and other computer stores. This is not a problem with
my personal notes. This is a problem with the coding of the Windows Journal Software on Windows 7 and 8. It was also tested on a Vista computer with the same error.
Please, if someone knows how to fix this problem please let me know. I use Windows Journal exclusively on a tablet PC for my business and am afraid of upgrading from XP to Windows 7 or 8 unless I can see that the Win7 version of JOURNAL works properly
as the WinXP Tablet edition of Win Journal.
Note: I have tried recreating user profiles, sfc.exe, cleanboot, safe mode, chkdisk.... all failed. THE PROBLEM I BELIEVE IS THE ACTUAL CODE that is written for Windows Journal. ALL notes can be opend by hitting FILE-OPEN. However, if you
go to the "view recent notes" button and click on the "look-in" pull down menu within the Windows Journal program, you can not open the file through this. Because of the way I do my business, I need to look up various files quickly
and write notes after opening each note from the "look-in" pull down menu.
Please Help.The problem seems to be that the "look-in" menu doesn't open the files which are located in the "Notes" folder. If I open the files through windows explorer in windows 7, the file opens into windows journal and appears in the look-in menu.
Another interesting thing occurs if you create an additional folder under my documents. I tested this on various computers in an electronic store: Windows Journal was working fine with the "look-in" menu; I was able to open various journal note
documents. Then, once I created another folder under My Documents and tried to open a journal note in that folder and then go back to the "notes" folder, I was able to replicate the same error message.
In short, it seems that once a new folder is created, the original folder "Notes" as well as the new folder, both do not allow for the files within them to be opened through the "look-in" menu. However, they may be opened from hitting FILE, then OPEN.
But, the "look-in" and Browse menu doesn't work.
Also, I looked in the Event Viewer and couldn't find anything in particular related to Win Journal. Please tell me what and where specifically to look in the Event Viewer --- I can't seem to find anything related to Windows Journal errors in the Event
Viewer.
Thank you.
