Windows 10 Install Stuck at 69%

I've tried installing Windows 10 from Windows Update several times.  Each time it seems to stall at 69%  It stays at 69% for hours.  I eventually turn the machine off and back on and it will revert back to 8.1, so no damage is done.
Am I being inpatient?  Should I wait hours for a message?

Hi,
How about your problem now? For this problem, according to the feedback from forum, it would be better to let the update alone, sometimes it do need more time to finish the installation. This depends on the current system software and hardware environment.
You can try to disable Security software before install the update. On the other hand, you can check CBS.log(C:\Windows\logs\cbs) if it record the problem.

Oddly enough, I have had windows 7 installed on this Mac before but then I deleted and now I am looking to get it back (I am using the same disc I had used the previous time). Iv looked  around for days for any solutions that have been found but nothing has worked so far. If anyone can help me it be great!

My 2006 is also liist on the uncompatible list.  So there is an extra step to reburn the DVD.
Round about way of saying you bought System Builder? rather than retail which costs more but has both.
You might also have been better with pre-SP1 if you could find it. That does get mentioned from some users.
For free there are Windows 8 CP edition (and release candidate in June) to try, those you do burn from ISO to DVD. Try that.

    Hey Muhamad,
Contact your computer manufacture to inquire about an updated Basic Input/Output System (BIOS).
Modify your computer's BIOS the following ways:
Change the Plug and Play settings. For example, if Plug and Play functionality is currently being controlled by the BIOS, change it so it is controlled by the operating system.
Enable or disable Universal Serial Bus (USB) support.
    Disable power management support.
    Disable infrared support.
    Disable all serial ports.
Remove non-essential hardware devices one at a time. This includes a second video adapter, Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) adapters, modems, sound cards, network adapters, and other non-essential
Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) adapters, Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) adapters, and PC Cards.
Disconnect non-essential external devices and cables, such as backup devices, external hard disk drives, printers, and scanners.
If you are using a notebook computer, verify that it is not currently in a docking station.
Specify a different computer type when you start your computer.

  • Windows 7 install stuck at "expanding windows files (0%)"

I'm going through my first Boot Camp installation and it has been stuck for about 20 minutes already at "Expanding Windows files (0%)."  This doesn't seem right.  Do I just sit tight or has anyone else experienced this and know how to correct it?

  • Windows 7 Install Stuck at Setup is Starting.

First I had an issue with the installer sitting at blank picturesque background for about 30 minutes.  Then I finally got the first dialog box asking me for the language, etc.  I did all that and now the installer is hung at the Setup is Starting screen, with the cursor going, my HDD indicator going, but nothing, for a little over an hour.  Anyone have any ideas?
Not sure what kind of info might help, I'm trying to dual boot Win7 x64 on another partition, with WinXP x32 as my main system OS.

    Hi,
Do you have a floppy drive? If not, please disable any setting related to floppy in BIOS. Based on my known, floppy setting may cause similar issue.
    Hope it helps.

I installed Firefox 6.0.2 on a Windows Server 2003 box. This box is a terminal server with 9 users that are going to use Firefox. The other users are going to use IE. When asked to reboot now or later, I chose Later. After sometime I rebooted, the message "you need to reboot in order to complete the install" reappears. Over and over again. Can not uninstall (same message) Can not open Firefox (same message) Many reboots using various users, the same results.
    Help!

The question appears to relate more to the OS than be a firefox problem, but as I have never used Windows Server 2003, I am unable to help.

  • Windows 7 Install - Blackscreen/USB drive

    Hello,
I'm trying to install Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) on my iMac (late 2009) and unable to get past the dread blackscreen that is posted on the Apple Support help pages (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173).
I've reformated the USB drive, added the drivers as described, but unable to get past a certain point in the install. I can get to the Windows 7 install screen, reformated the partition and then it will reboot successfully a couple of times,. However when its at the "completing install" phase and it reboots once again, then it gets stuck at the blackscreen. I imagine its at this point that the drivers should be recognized on the USB, but aren't. Which is odd, as I'm able to use the screen, mouse and keyboard throughout most of the install without issue.
I assume it's because it is unable to find the drivers on the USB key and unsure what else to do. Does it make a difference which USB port I use? Also, the USB drive is "old" (5 yrs +). Perhaps that's an issue?
I'm stumped and looking for help. Feel free to ask more questions if you think I've left out some important details.
    Thanks.

Well, seems the issue was actually the old USB key (256MB). Installed the drivers onto a new 8G USB and no issues. Worked like a charm.

  • K9N SLI Platinum MS7250 ver1.1 ... need help with Windows 7 install

    Hello,
Having an intermittant issue with Windows 7 32bit.  During startup Windows 7 gets stuck at the logo screen.  Not always though.  Every 7-8th reboot it will make it past and go all the way into Windows 7.  I've tried all sorts of combinations of "ebabling/disabling".  This system ran XP professional for 3 years without any issues.  Currently, I have the most luck by connecting the keyboard and mouse to PS2 and leaving USB disabled.  This may not be the issue though.  Once I got Win7 to boot I performed driver updates etc.
If someone has suggestions please let me know.  I'm about to try the USB bios flash but have never done it before.
    Thank you,
    BK

    Video:  NVidia GeForce 7900GS
PSU:    600Watt  CoolerMaster ATX12V   12volt rails push around 18amps and I'm using the additional power port for power to the video card
Bios ver:   1.3  (this is what shows on the splash screen at startup however CPUID shows 080014 - not sure what that means)
    Motherboard:  K9N SLI Platinum MS7250 ver1.1

    Hi Guys,
    Thank you for the replies.
    -  Yes it is a fresh install of Windows7 on a drive that originally had XP Pro
    -  If I boot into safe mode it does go into Win7 most of the time.
    -  I posted on the MSI tech support page (http://support.msi.com/index.php) and the response was to upgrade the BIOS.  What do you think?
    -  I've been using this graphics card for three years and is nowhere near as powerful as what's out there now.  In fact all of the components are three years old except the RAM
    -  I tried the old RAM (2GB Corsair) and it also had the same issue.  Even at default RAM settings or otherwise.  Now I'm back to the 4GB Patriot Vipers.
    -  What is this capacitor problem people are referring to?  Is it a problem specifically on this model board?
    Thank you..

  • Bootcamp Windows 7 install with no Superdrive - Working Method

After lots of experimenting to get Windows 7 installed on my 2011 MBP with no Superdrive, I've finally found a solution.
Normally reserved for Macbook Airs, it's possible to enable the "Create Windows 7 Install Disk" option in Boot Camp Assistant 4 by following this method:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message/17365855#17365855
This will allow usb creation to work, but without proper firmware version on your machine, you will reboot to a black screen that says "No bootable device found" when trying to use bootcamp assistant.
All of the workarounds that worked in 10.6 seem to be broken in 10.7. I tried:
-4 different USB media, as some reported certain USB media will work.
-mounting a VMware image of a windows 7 install, but VMDKMounter and MacFuse are broken in 10.7
-using winclone to restore a previous bootcamp image from my old MBP, which only got me to BSOD
-using my windows image to format a partition, which returns invalid argument errors in disk utility
I didn't try rEFIt, as I read lots of reports of its incompatibilities with Lion, and disk corruption.
The solution that finally worked was to create a 5gb FAT partition on my internal hard drive, and copy all of the files from the Bootcamp USB windows install.
Upon reboot, since it was still attempting the windows install, it found the partition, booted and worked flawlessly. This might also work by simply copying the files from your Windows 7 image, but I think there may be a little trickery done in Boot Camp Assistant to make sure the EFI recognizes it properly.
I've only tried this on my system, but after 2 days of messing around to get this working, I wanted to post my results as I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation.

Ok thanks for pointing out that i need to use NTFS instead of FAT.. And the order of partitions..
    I----------OSX----------I I------Windows----I I---Install---I
My only issue now.. ( atleast i think it is my only issue )
Im a noob at this, so please dont get mad.
But as i understand, you are using the information in this link
    http://discussions.apple.com/message/17365855#17365855
to bypass (Or Un-grey) the "create a usb" option.
Now my only issue is that there is no "create a usb" option, i have
"download the latest windows support software from apple"
    And
    "install Windows 7"
I stuck... ive tried remote disk, rEFIt, installing from usb, installing from dvd.
Dont know where else to go.
Once again, thanks for your help.

  • HP software install stuck on checking system

hello, for a few days I've been trying to reinstall HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver, since it randomly stopped working. It always gets stuck when is first installing on the checking system step. Ive downloaded the software to uninstall the program completely from the computing and installing it again to find the same problem.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that your HP software install stuck on checking system, when trying to reinstall your HP Officejet J4580 on Windows 8.1. I am happy to look into this for you!  Some questions for you:  Do you see any error messages on the printer's display panel? Are you able to make copies with the printer? Loading Paper and Copying With the HP Officejet J4500 All-in-One Printer Series. Are you able to print a self-test report? Printing a Self-Test Report. In the meantime, please try the steps within this guide, Windows 8: The Progress Bar on the Software Installation Stops or Stalls. Hope this guide helps, and hope to hear from you soon!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Computer OS wont startup after windows 10 install

Hello im having problem booting my system after installing windows 10 . I made the installation and it worked fine from upgrading from 8.1. But then I wanted to format the drive and at the format menu it got stuck at 2 % and then I restarted the computer. Now it will hang at hp logo and go back to the same logo again. Do I have to replace my hard drive?

From what I understand, if you completed the Windows 10 install and all went to completion, then you are supposed to be able to do a clean install with the Windows 10 DVD or USB download.  With a working computer, GO TO THIS PAGE and scroll down to the "Download Tool button"  Pick the 64 Bit version.  Once clicked it will ask if you want a DVD or USB for the iso.Once it is done and you have either the DVD or the USB version, see if you can then install Windows 10.  If that fails, you might need to replace the hard drive.

  • Windows Vista install disk for my Mac?

I have just installed Windows vista onto my Mac but when using boot camp it only gives me the option of creating a Windows 7 install disk.  Does anybody know where I can get a Windows Vista install disk?  Thanks

No doubt if you Google for it you will find vendors. Check with amazon.com, too.

  • Customise your Windows XP install CD

If you currently only own a legit Windows XP Home or Pro CD, which is either original or SP1a integrated, when it comes to doing a new install or a repair install, having to reinstall SP2 again can be a bit of a pain, not to mention another lengthy procedure
So why not make yourself an updated XP SP2 disc, so at least if you have to reinstall Windows, you can reinstall to the latest version without any further messing.
The "slipstreaming" procedure, also allows you to integrate additional drivers and hotfixes, so they are all present when you do a new install.
Here are some links that allow you to customise and create your own XP install CD. Note that you will still need a valid Product Key to install any version of Windows XP, and you will also require a genuine Windows XP install CD.

I personally have built a DVD with the MSFN how to guide. The actual XP build was very easy when using the Microsot tool "setupmgr.exe" (MS Setup Manager for XP). The product nLite worked well also.
But before I go on I should tell everyone that wants to try this to go get a copy of VMware Workstation http://www.vmware.com. It will cost you a good amout but it will save so much time and energy. Before you install it though yo best have a pc strong enough for the task. I found a Pentium 4 w/HT and a Pentium D to wrk just fine when you also tack on 3 or more GB's of RAM.
I should warn all that the next parts may burn a hole in your head.
My WinXP Pro SP2 was also complimented with a complete unattended install of every program I wanted installed on my PC. Usng Batch coding and RunOnceX commands was very hard and very time consuming. It took me almost 4 months to learn how to use those and it never really paid off. I then found a program called "Windows-Post Installer". You cn find it at http://www.wpiw.net/. That program made it so much easier and I could tell myself what programs do, before I install them, via descriptions. When you look at the site you will see what I mean.
OK, let's get real down and dirty. "SWITCHES", my own personal demons. I found it so frustrating that a switch would work on one version of software and one version of WPI but not work on mine. I had to learn what one meant, set it up, and then test. I then found some switches to not work correctly in a vurtual enviroment. Lord save me from myself, PLEASE .
All of this is explained in much detail at the MSFN how-to http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/1/. They have updated alot of there information since I pull my hair out. So read on peoples for the only one that can help you is reading this right now, that does not in anyway shape or form mean ME, lol!
