Windows 10 Kiosk Mode / Assigned Access?

We would like to set up laptops for people to use to check out to temporarily work from home by RDP into their office desktop PC. The laptop will be used a dumb terminal connecting to their work PC over VPN.All they should be able to do is:Turn the laptop on, log in, connect to their home wireless network or a portable hotspot, connect to VPN, launch Remote Desktop, log out and power off the laptop. Nothing else! They don't need browser access to log into hotel or Starbucks wifi login pages because the laptops are intended for home use or else they will be provided with a MiFi. However, they need some indicator that the internet connection is working properly.I'd like to have the Cisco VPN client and remote desktop app both launch automatically and prompt the user for VPN credentials and computer name to connect to when the user logs...

  • Can't put IE Metro into full kiosk mode Win 8.1 Enterprise or set IE desktop as default in Assigned Access

I have searched everywhere for this answer.  Kiosk mode/assigned access is excellent.  But it appears that you can only use IE Modern (Metro) for assigned access and the problem with that is I have found no way to completely lock down IE Modern.
I can only partially lock it down but users can still get to the address bar and settings very easily.
I either need some advice on setting IE to complete lockdown or how to set IE desktop for Assigned  Access.

I am afraid there is no such feature in metro IE. Maybe you could submit a feedback to
    IE connect

Perhaps you can create a special application that will be selected for Assigned Access. This application will then start the desktop variant of Internet Explorer (or an intermediate desktop program). There are some articles about such
operation based on Launcher class and custom file association.

  • Windows 8.1 Task Sequence and Assigned Access

    Hi all,
I have to build a few hundred kiosk machines with Windows 8.1, a custom LoB appx app, and assigned access. I am attempting to do it using SCCM OSD, but I have a couple of problems.
Appx applications cannot be installed during a task sequence, so is pre-provisioning via dism on the command line the answer?
It seems that assigned access can only be set up for local accounts (from an admin account) after the
local account has logged in at least once. How would this work as part of a task sequence?
    Any ideas welcome.
    Thanks,
    Simonie.

  • Bypassing Autologon in Windows 8.1 assigned access

    Good day!
I am attempting to use Assigned Access in Windows 8.1 to set up a guest facing kiosk for our company. Our current kiosk software just isn't cutting the mustard right now, and Assigned Access is actually doing nearly everythign we ask of it!
I have set up a forced autologon in the registry (forceautologon=1, autoadminlogon=1), which is working perfectly. However, I don't have any way to escape the autologon now. In windows 7 and XP, I simply held down shift to break the cycle. I've tried tapping
the windows key 5 times while holding shift, but to no avail. Does anyone know how to break the cycle?

    I created a simple
    apicación in VB.NET, you just
need to enable remote logging on the machine
with  auto logon from your computer
    and run the application. When
the session is opened on the remote machine
    running NoLogin to disable the
    automatic startup, closed session
and see that pressing OK and
    not entered automatically, or
run it and restart your computer,if you want to
re-enable would be the same process.

  • Display window task bar on web page opened in kiosk mode.

    I am using IE8 in Window 7.
I open a certain web page in kiosk mode (call IE browser with -k option, a full screen without window frame). How can the window task bar be displayed at the bottom of the web page while the web page is in kiosk mode?
    Thank you for advice.

    Hi,
If you are using kiosk mode for a public access terminal, then you use the default Guest user account and use GPO to limit their access to other applications that are installed at the machine level.
How the web browser opens links from other programs is set in Internet Options.
I don't think your EULA's cover Word or Outlook on public access computers.
Allowing the public to access the windows shell is asking for trouble.... putty and your networks mud.
Firstly you should update the machine with the latest Windows updates and IE11. And download the admx files and use GPEdit applied to the Guest account to lock down the machine for that user account.(including the shell)

  • Assigned access mode doesnt work for Siena Apps?

    Hey guys,
we have written up an App to do an about us type interactive experience and had hoped to deploy it to our foyer with assigned access to stop people closing the app/logging out etc.
Is there no way to do this? Assigned access doesn't let me specify the sienna App.
    Cheers,
    Jim

    Hello,
I am wondering if this issue has been resolved. I had messed around with assigned access and was planning on creating an simple local html site and have assigned access use IE but I did not like all of the ability the user had while in kiosk mode and using
IE. so i researched and found Siena. I have spent some time creating a Siena app to use as an assigned access user in kiosk mode but as described above.. Even though I have installed the published app it is not in the list of apps when I try to associate the
user with the app in assigned access settings.. Seems I have wasted much time trying to get something to work in kisok mode only to still be back at square one.
Does anyone have a solution or another app option to create something to display in kiosk mode where the user has very limited capabilities except for viewing what I want to display to them?,

  • How to launch a single URL in a locked windowed-kiosk mode?

We need to launch a specific URL in Firefox in a windowed-kiosk mode.
If this can be done via a command-line that would be great. The Company want to restrict the use of the browser to this one specific URL and only allow close controls on the opened app window.
    Is this possible?
    Any help much appreciated!

  • Windows 8.1 Update 1 Kiosk Mode difference

We have a number of stations running modern IE on Windows 8.1 in Kiosk Mode. I ran the in-place upgrade on a few of them to test Windows 8.1 Update 1.  Everything runs fine except that hitting the Windows key 5 times no longer takes you to the login
screen. Is this by design or just something that was over looked? I also noticed that Crt+Alt+Del works and though I haven't gone back to the original machines that have not been upgraded yet, I believe this didn't used to work.

    Hi,
    Sorry for late reply.
Based on my test,we didn't meet this issue.
I suggest that we check the Group policy  first.

  • E4200v2 Bridge Mode + Guest Access: No DHCP IP's assigned?!

New E4200v2 on 2.0.37.  In "Bridge Mode - DHCP" (i.e. Access Point not router).  Guest Access is enabled & SSID broadcast.  Dhcp Server is disabled, because my main Sonicwall router is providing that for main LAN 192.168.1.0.
PROBLEM = Client PC can see "-guest" SSID fine and associate to it, BUT PC does NOT receive a DHCP IP address (i.e. 192.168.33.x) therefore the browser login page never appears and guest access does not work.
I'm pretty sure that it's all related to DHCP.  I'm assuming that the E4200 is not receiving or sending guest DHCP packets with the client PC.
I seen Guest Access work on the older E4200v1's before so I know what it should look like.
Can anyone suggest any likely reasons why my E4200v2 wouldn't be providing DHCP guest addresses in the 192.168.33.0 subnet?
I only have 24 hrs until I have to deploy 2 new E4200v2's at a remote site, and after that it's going to be really hard to troubleshoot because I won't be at that site.
Thanks in advance for any expert advice!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When you're in bridge mode DHCP server option goes away.  And I don't care if DHCP requests are getting to my Sonicwall b/c that device is not going to assign the Linksys Guest IP's... E4200 must do that, apparently in a totally hidden way.
In any case, I don't have any more time to waste on E4200v2's so I'm going to try some E4200v1's which I just happen to have handy, thankfully.
If Bridge Mode + Guest Access works better on the V1's then I'll retreat back to that older more obsolete hardware.
    I'll report back later.
(In meantime if anyone else cares to offer their knowledge experience about this, V2 or V1, I'm all ears)

As the reply from Monkeyboy, you could modify registry settings on systems to achieve what you want. There are many demo code online which showed us how to modify registry settings.

These options might be dangerous. If someone who knew nothing about the program with this function and he uses this program, it might hurt his system. Since this, it would be better not to post this code in the forum to avoid someone tried the code and hurt
    his system.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • I recently had to get a new computer. It required me going from windows xp to 7 I am trying to put it one the new computer but I get following message  Windows installer could not be accessed could be in safe mode. How do I get around it? need it to charge

I recently had to get a new computer. It required me going from windows xp to 7 I am trying to put it one the new computer but I get following message  Windows installer could not be accessed could be in safe mode. How do I get around it? need it to charge my ipod on my computer.

I have used PCs for years, and still do at work.  But, last year my wife bought me a 15" MBP with the anti-glare screen (I was getting ready to buy for myself).  It took me all of 1 week to completely get used to the UI for OS-X, and now I really prefer it over the Win7 UI.  I have no experience with Win8.  Here are my thoughts:
    1) You can get a good computer using either a Win8 machine or a Mac.
    2) You will pay less for an equivalent PC.  But not as much less as some would have you believe.  You need to take into account the all aluminum body of the Mac (vs most PCs being plastic) and the size of the display.  And, don't forget that there is a lot of bundled SW on the Mac that you will actually find useful and would have to purchase for the PC.
    3) You can probably do everything you need on the PC platform with the right SW (you probably already know this since you are using one already).
That said, I think some things are easier on the Mac.  For example, GarageBand is a standard part of the Mac SW installation.  I got up and running recording directly from my bass into a track with a song imported from iTunes on another track in a snap.  I only had to purchase a Jam adapter ($99) for the bass so I could come in over USB instead of using the audio in port (which did work, by the way).  You can do the same on a PC, but you have to purchase the SW from somewhere.  And, it probably isn't cheap.
I use VMware Fusion to run those Win programs I already owned because it was much less expensive to buy Fusion than to replace them.
I would not return to a PC for my own use, given a choice.  But, I would be very careful about getting my wife a Mac without careful thought as she is not as tolerant of learning new things as I am.
    So, there you go.

  • Windows Phone Enterprise Assigned Access Feature - Find ProductId

    Hi folks,
We have an MDM server solution that talks to the Windows Phone clients. We wanted to put some apps to the start screen & this works fine via the XML commands we send following the Enterprise Assigned Access documentation.
We have also configured an exchange account via the server and it deploys happily on the device.
Now we would like to put a “shortcut” for the configured ExchangeAccount to the start screen as well.
Does anyone know how to find out the productid here? We tried the productid for e-mail, but this brings up only the e-mail configuration app.
We did not find anything for how to gather a productid for other shortcuts than apps from the store.
    Please help.
    Thanks,

When you open the editor thn you will see something like in this picture:
This was the case in 11 and I think 12 as well.  I don't know anything about 13 so don't about it.  I haven't even tried it yet.
