Windows 10 on HP Envy 14t-1100 Beats Edition

I am currently running win7, but the Windows 10 apps currently shows that my system is compatible to upgrade. How trustable is that ? Does it mean that all the driver will be  available ? I had a great deal of pain when I installed win 8 before and my webcam + ATi graphic card did not work and no support from Hp on driver side... ended up rolling back to win7 and wasted great deal of time and energy. Want to make sure that it is compatible before i upgrade to win10

@Shb88, Hello and thanks  for posting on the HP support forums.  At this point I would wait for a few months before upgrading.  You have a year to upgrade to windows 10.  I have updated one of my systems and for the most part it works well but there are some issues out there with software and drivers that need to be ironed out and waiting a few months for the problems to get recognised and updates released to address them would be the best. Thanks again for the post and have a great day.And another reply... but yet you continue to ignore the 18 page one of problems! http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Windows-10-Laptop-won-t-go-into-sleep-mode/m-p/5181173#M304826

    Hi,
The answer is Yes, nearly all laptops which are less than 5 years old support SSD. Please read the following article for some ideas:

  • Weird ringing noise when laptop is plugged into AC - HP ENVY 14-2050se Beats Edition Notebook PC

Hi, last month I bought this HP ENVY 14-2050se Beats Edition Notebook from a nearby electronics store and I loved it from first sight. Except a few problems emerged when I first turned it on at home. First, yes I did a full hp recovery factory restore when I got home. It is running Windows 7 Home Premium and I already tried muting the microphone and speakers and it has not solved the problem whatsoever but it only shows up when I have my Envy plugged into AC power, on battery it makes no noises.
The problem is that whenever it is plugged in it makes a weird ringing noise which is very clear and hearable to me and my friends and gives me headaches constantly. The noise is almost identicle to that ringing noise you get in your ears after hearing very loud noises. I tried using my mom's HP ac adapter on my Envy and it still produces the noise so its not the adapter itself im assuming. Also, sometimes when playing music or watching videos on youtube it will hang for a split second or so once every while and make a weird buzzing noise, im assuming that could be normal behavior though and im not as worried about that so much as my other problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated, I just want to enjoy this great laptop!
    Sincerely, Lance Shults

Hi, you aren't the only one.
I have a HP Envy, and I have this rining noise as well.
    it is odd.
If I had to take a guess (I've been in IT for almost 17 years), I think it might be the power supply for some reason, in the laptop.  Not the external supply.
Nearest I can say is it is a fast paced ring/ding.
    Is yours similar?

  • Envy 14t-3000 Beats button and Fn+b Not working.

on Envy 14t 3000 Product A1V79AV) running Windows 7 Professional. , Beats button and Fn  b key do not work

So, you're unable to use the Beats function key combination (Fn + B)?  Do  your other function keys work?  The two most likely causes are the HP Quick Launch application and function key support.  So, if other function keys work it is likely the former which is causing the issue.
To begin try uninstalling the HP Quick Launch application.  Uninstall the application from the Uninstall a Program option in Control Panel.  After rebooting your PC go here to get the latest version of the software and reinstall.  After the reinstall, reboot one final time.  Finally, try to use the function key and post the result.

    Hi Ken,
Try resetting the bios defaults as follows.
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Another option worth trying if the above doesn't help is a 'Forced Reset' ( this doesn't affect you data or operating system in any way ) - the method for your particular Model can be found on the following document.

  • Problems loading generic Windows sound driver/Envy 14t-1000

Info: HP Envy 14t-1000 CTO, Windows 7 (updated to latest SP).
So, I recently tried updating my video drivers and unfortunately it messed with my audio settings (normally I'd do a system restore, but for whatever reason I forgot to create a restore point before updating...). At this point, I suspect that I accidentally re-installed the IDT High Definition Audio Codec, which leads me to my issue - I've been trying to uninstall Beats audio (and the IDT codec)  and use the generic audio driver that comes with Windows, and have followed the instructions listed here:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/REMOVE-BEATS-AUDIO-LOAD-GENERIC-SOUND-DRIVE...
However, no matter what directions I follow, after rebooting, the IDT codec reinstalls (that is, even after unchecking IDT Audio from the list of start-up programs and uninstalling the codec in device manager) instead of the generic Windows sound driver and IDT Audio is back in the list of start-up programs; the result is that I'm still getting the same rubbish sound. Is there a solution to this? I'm assuming that there is in fact a generic audio driver that I can revert to?
    Many thanks.

    Hi @frran ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 14t-1000 CTO Notebook and having issues with the sound. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with uninstalling any software and drivers on your system that were originally installed.
Here is a document that has troubleshooting for the sound. There could be an update for the BIOS. That might be needed.
You could try this fix as it has helped with the Beats Audio.
    1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner by your time.
    2. Click Playback Devices.
    3. Click Speakers.
    4. Click properties.
    5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
    6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
    7. Apply the properties.
    8. Click OK to close the properties window.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Installing Windows 7 64bit on hp Envy 4t-1100

I'am having a bit of trouble getting Windows 7 installed on my new ultrabook (Envy 4t-1100). I do not like windows 8 and wish to continue to use Windows 7. I also installed an OCz Agility 3 240GB SSD in my laptop as well
At first I had a hard time getting the SSD to recognize in the BIOS but after some tinkering there is a setting the bios to enable CSM to allow legacy support for older OS.
Now I can boot to CD with the Win7 install CD. It gets to the point where it ask you where you would like to install the OS but I get a message "a required cd/dvd driver is missing" I found this
    http://ava.co.uk/support/faq/general/a-required-cddvd-drive-device-driver-is-missing-windows-install...
Basically it says I need to load the driver for the CD to see my SSD.
So next I head over to HP's site for drivers and I have downloaded the Intel rapid storage driver and extracted it to a folder. I've installed that driver via USB Drive to no success. I've downloaded quite a few other drivers from HP's page but none of them seem to work. I'am at a loss as to which driver I need in order to get the install CD to recognize the SSD.
The salesperson whom I ordered this from assured me I could get Win7 loaded on this thing with no problems but I have never had such a hard time just loading windows.
    This question was solved.

I managed to resolve this issue and succesfully installed Win 7 on this laptop.
Once I converted the Win 7 Iso to Bootable flash drive and began installing it I had to hit cancel once I got the "a required driver is needed" message. Once canceled go back to the main welcome screen for the Windows installation. Unplug the flash drive from the USB port and plug it into another port. Then continue like normal.
One note: I started the flash drive plugged into a USB 3.0 port, removed it after canceling and plugged it into the other 3.0 port. That did not work for me. For some reason I had to go from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 port.
Never seen anything like it but I got it working. Thanks for all the help though!
    Hope this helps someone else

  • Fresh windows install on an envy 14 - How do I get beats working?

    Hi All,
I received my brand new hp envy 14 yesterday and I love it. What I usually don't like is the pre installed software that come with every new computer so the first thing I did is I removed the default hdd and replaced it with a brand new ssd and installed a fresh version of windows.
Everything works fine with the default windows drivers except the sound. Meaning the sound works but when I crank up the volume to the maximum, it's not very loud (i.e.: I can get my cellphone to play music louder than that). Sadly I can't compare with the pre-installed version of windows because I didn't even bother booting with it ..
So my question is: What softwares/drivers am I supposed to install to take advandage of the beats of my new laptop? (I have the envy 14, not the beats edition but it stills feature audio beats..)
I tried to change the properties of the speakers (levels and enhancements, bass boost, virtual surrounds, loundness equalization,....)
I also tried to install the IDT drivers found on this forum but I didn't find any hp envy 14 specific version. Could it be the problem?
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks!

Here is the audio driver for Envy 14 -  ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48435.exe
For the fn+b Key combo to work, you will need to install Quicklaunch from here... ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50681.exe
Or has the above drivers been tried....

  • How do I disable the Symantics TouchPad on my HP Envy 14t notebook?

I have tried to modify the sensitivity of the touchpad on my laptop, but it's still so touchy it's driving me crazy. The other issues I looked at here in the Community forum don't pertain to the machine or utilities I have.
I want to COMPLETELY DISABLE it and use a plug-in mouse.  Where is the option to disable the touchpad?
I have uninstalled the Symantic TouchPad driver, but the touchpad still shows up as a device as "PS/2 Compatible Mouse." When I open its Mouse Properties dialog, on the Driver tab, the Disable button is grayed out.
How do I COMPELTELY DISABLE the touchpad and just use a plug-in mouse on the HP Envy 14t notebook?
    This question was solved.

    @kiltinshire,
Thanks for posting back.  As you may be aware there are multiple versions of HP notebooks, most control functions are found in the user guide.  If you can not find it there then you would have to go to how to disable hard ware in windows.  That is a microsoft topic.
You normally have 2 choices to physically shut it off.  First the touchpad has a little button in a corner depending on model.  Use a function key it will have a diagram of a square and a finger.  These methods have been used for years for turning your touchpad off.
Next is just google how to turn off touchpad in windows 8.  Here is a couple links that you may find useful that I found using that search.
    TouchPad and Keyboard
How to Enable and Disable Touch Pad on HP ENVY
Disable Laptop Touchpad in Windows 8 / 7
How to disable laptop touch pad in windows 8
Now if you are actually trying to find a way of permanently shutting off the touchpad so that it does not come on again you will have to dig into Windows help for that.  If Windows sees the hardware at start up it will by default try and load the base driver for it and most likely turn it on when you reboot.
The only other way is to open up your notebook and disconnect the cable that goes from the touch pad to the motherboard so that does not happen.
    I am hoping that helps.

  • No sound on HP Envy 14 Beats Edition. Sound disappeared for no apparent reason.

HP Envy 14 Beats Edition laptop (product QE295UA#ABA) running Windows 7 Home Premium version 6.1 (build 7601, service pack 1).
I don't recall running any software updates.  I've confirmed that  no mute buttons  are on.   I've tried the Windows troubleshooter for Playing Audio/Speakers and Headphones but the software does not detect any problems.  I've tried reinstalling the driver to no avail.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53281.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • Crackling sound from right speaker - Envy 14 Beats edition

The right speaker on my Envy 14 Beats edition has a crackling/static sound when playing any sort of sound from it.  I assumed it was a faulty speaker since its just the right speaker..  I've talked to HP support and they had me send it in.
After two weeks I got it back only to find that they simply changed some audio configurations in an attempt to fix it.  Nothing has changed and the problem still exists.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is some sort of fix for this without me having to send it back to them to replace the speaker.

Hello tedebare73.  I understand your notebook is making a weird sound from the left speaker.
Are there any other electronic devices (guitar amplifiers, cell phones, speakers) around the notebook?  These can all cause very strange noises.
Try hard resetting the notebook as well.  Here are the steps.
    Shut down the notebook.
Remove the battery and AC power.
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds three times.
Replace the battery and AC power.
    Verify whether the problem persists.
Finally, if neither of the above have an effect try removing and reinstalling the driver.  Here are instructions.
    Go to your Device Manager.
Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.
Right click on your audio device and select "Uninstall."
Reboot the notebook.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.
    Verify whether the problem persists.
Let me know the results.  Have a wonderful day!

  • NO SOUND (I tried everything) ENVY 14 BEATS EDITION

    ENVY 14 BEATS EDITION 2001tx
    Product #: LZ812PA#ACF
    WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64-bit
    Service Pack 1
    Location: Tokyo
I read through these forums and literaly tried all the solutions, hopefully you will prove me wrong and give me the answers I need.
So my pc went into hibernation and when I woke it up there was no sound. I did the following in no particular order:
    - uninstall, re-install audio driver (a million times, a million different ways)
    - installed the chipsets
    - booted, rebooted several times
    - restored pc to 4 days ago
    - undated BIOS
Still to no avail, this actually happened once before but I was able to fix it right away, this was a few months ago.
I can see my equalizer move up and down as it moves with youtube or music but there is absolutely no sound coming out the computer nor the external speakers I plug in. No turn on or shut down sounds either, ZERO.
    HELP!
    Annoyed...

    Hello belloblock,
Another document you can follow to try and resolve the issue - No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 7)
I understand that performing a reset can be a nuisance but a hard or forced reset erases all information in the computer's memory which may restore functionality. Resetting your computer forces the system to clear and reestablish the software connections between the BIOS and the hardware.
Performing a hard or forced reset might fix the following conditions:
    -Windows stops responding.
-Computer stops before Windows loads - no boot, blinking cursor on a black display, and errors relating to OS not found or a missing drive.
-Display suddenly goes blank and stays blank.
    -Software freezes.
    -Keyboard stops responding.
-The computer does not return from sleep or suspend mode.
-An external device stops responding. (Turn off the power to that device in addition to performing the steps in this document.)
As you can see, a hard reset although not convenient could resolve the issue you are experiencing and is very much worth a try.

  • HP Envy 14 Beats Edition Equalizer Presets deleted

So I have had my Envy 14 Beats Edition for awhile now (5 months). It has been causing me problems, but the one that is bothering me the most currently is the fact that my Equalizer no longer works.
A few weeks ago I set all settings in my equalizer to max to get the most sound out as I could for a dance session. Since then no matter what I do the equalizer stays at the settings that I changed it to. Even if I changed seperate dB settings (i.e. bass vs highs) the sound still comes out exactly the same.
Beats Studio and Beat Tour presets no longer make a difference either.
Does anyone know a fix to this problem?

    Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Startup Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.
What happens when you try to reinstall the IDT driver using Recovery Manager now?
