Windows 10 planned for Thinkpad Tablet 8 products?

Can somebody close to Lenovo tell us, if Lenovo is planning to extend drivers and support for Windows 10 to our Thinkpad Tablet 8 products?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Obviously. Microsoft is responsible for delivering us the Win 10 update, and they said they would do it for free within the first year of availability to any and all Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 devices. Hence it would only be appropriate that Lenovo would eventually bring Win 10 support to its existing products as well, in addition to their new lines of products preloaded with Win 10. We still have several months to go, so be patient...

Please recommend company web sites that carry compatible 80GB Hard Drive or larger capacity Hard Drives for ThinkPad T43 Product/Model: 2668Y4F. Lenovo apparently does not carry hard drives for older ThinkPad notebooks.
    Please advise. Thank you, Mark

PATA/IDE laptop drives have gone the way of dodo bird, for the most part.
    This would be my pick:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-160GB-2-5-HM160HC-Hard-Drive-Brand-New-PATA-IDE-ATA-for-notebook-lap...
It will throw a "2010 error" on boot, but will work perfectly nevertheless. I've used these drives exclusively prior to converting my fleet T43p units to SATA.
I'm NOT affiliated with the seller in any way. Proceed at your own risk.
    Good luck.

  • Planning for externally procured products

    Hi!
Most of our products are planning strategy 52 (Planning without final assembly).  We are considering changing some of our products to be externally procured, however the business wants the planning logic to stay the same - do not order unless there is a sales order.
    Any ideas ???
    THANKS !!
    Dianne

Strategy 20 in my manufactuing plant - no luck because planning strategy 20 is standard MTO.
"The planned orders for the finished products are correctly "non-convetable" if the original warehouse does not have a sales order. " What about tried some strategy like 72? I'm not sure can 72 work for FG but i'm very 72 can work for SFG because i used before.  Else you need to check how's the strategy 72 & customize it one by yourself.
"However, they also do not want to order the raw material UNTIL there is a Production Order, not a Planned Order."
This is very easy , you not create the planned order for the purchasing department , until they firm the production order only the purchasing department buy the raw material , but you do need consider the lead time for raw material delivery.
Unless there's huge safty stock to cover.
    Hope can close your issue.
    Thank you.

  • Make to stock planning for a finished product with variant attributes

    Hello All,
I have one finished product with different characteristics like color and sizes, I have to create demand for the same finished product
and to define different characteristics but should get one planned order for each combination of characteristics. Can anybody suggest how to create demand in make to stock situation.

    Hi ,
Try using "Planning with Planning Material' .
1: Define Planning material ( which is never produced) & it's BOM with only common assemblies( Finished product specific assmblies should not be added here)
2: Create Finished products seperately & assign planning material to Finished products. Finished product BOM should contain common assemblies & Variant assemblies
2:Enter Planned independent req for planning material & run MRP , it will generate procurement of it's  common componenets
3: SO for Finished product reduces PIR of planning material & triggers Final assembly.
4: Planning with planning material should be 60 strategy . it must be entered in both planning material & Finsihed goods.
This is possible with make -to stock as seperate Finished goods are created for each combinatin of color & sizes.
    Hope it helps,
    Jatin

  • Quota planning for the vendor products

    Dear Folks,
I have a scenario where my client is a authorized company to sell the products of some vendors and to maintain this, my client (company) has to achieve some annually targets given by the vendors.
My requirement is to: Define the quota planning for sales representative based on vendors also.
Do i also need to first create a custom field in product for the vendor while replicating from ECC?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Dinesh.

    Hi Dinesh,
In that case , you can do quota Planning based on the org unit structure only.
Maintain Org unit considering the hierarchy such as :
    Upper level - Product
    Middle  level - Vendor
    Lower level - sales Representatives
It means you have to create org structure for each possible combinations.
If you have existing Org unit mapped with ECC , you have to change the org structure in CRM and maintain the above structure between the  existing org unit if you want ECC org units getting determined in Opportunity level.
    Best Regards

  • WINDOWS 10 : ON Thinkpad Tablet 2

Hi all, Rather than end up with a bunch of random stickies and posts, I propose we put all our Windows 10 experiences here. Starting off, I installed Windows 10 from ISO, and was not told I could not install by the installer. Graphics performance is back to Windows 8 speed (meaning the big speed increase with Windows 8.1 is gone. I'm hoping this is just a matter of reinstalling the old graphics driver from 2014 that fixed a bunch of issues). I installed "offline" and for whatever reason, the system completely de-populated my start screen, and all of my Win 8 app's are now gone, and can't be found. Unclear what happened there. Hoping issue will go away with connection to Windows Store. That's all I've got for now...

    Hi,
My installation process for Windows 10 (over Windows 8.1) was :
    a. created a System Image Backup in Windows 8.1
    b. Downloaded the ISO for Windows 10
    c. Mounted the ISO
    d. Did an "upgrade" while offline, and without updates available
    e. After install was complete, and frustrated by Win 10 ISO installing a 'basic' video driver (without any accelleration), I sought options.
    f. On support.lenovo.com, downloaded "Intel Platform Driver for Windows 8.1
    g. Installed the Platform Driver completely, and disregarded the messages that said newer versions of some of the drivers already exist on the system
    h. Since install, GPU is accellerated.
Currently, only genuinely major problems are:
    a. speed in Windows 10 feels much more like Windows 8 than 8.1. I'm unclear as to why.
    b. Boot to desktop speed is much slower in Win 10 than Win 8.1. The Action Center takes a minute or so to populate. as does the Start screen.
    c. If I run at 100% scaling (which I find painfully small on the TPT2), then Cortana's buttons fail to appear properly. Same is true in some other of the Universal Apps. If I run at 125% scaling, everything works fine (albeit slower than in Win 8.1).
BIOS is 2.16, by the way, and I have not pursued performance in my art apps. Also, I'm not particularly loving the new version of OneNote (having finally acclimated to the frustrating radial menu of the prior app).
I hope this helps your install attempts.

    Hi,
The disaster recovery strategy should include a backup and restore plan that determines which data should be backed up and the procedures that will be used to recover it.

  • ThinkPad Tablet 2 Windows 8.1 reinstall no leveno usb key?

    ThinkPad Tablet 2
So I have a tablet 2 64g and my son wipped the drive and left the tablet unbootable. So I called leveno and the key is 45.00 and if they do the reinstall it is 170.00... Money is a issue right now, so we are doing this on our own with hope of this foum and then a how-to-do we will make for others.
We are as far as a clean windows 8.1 pro install and every time we load the update from the leveno site for tablet 2 the IO drivers listed as Intel Platform Driver for Windows 8 (32-bit) - ThinkPad Tablet 2 and alos tried Intel Platform Driver for Windows 8.1 (32-bit), 8 (32-bit) - ThinkPad Tablet 2 and both install and then my screen goes blank like the back light gets shut off? If I shine a light on it I can see that windows is working just no light for the screen. Right now windows does not see BT, WIFI, and a lot of other stuff. We know for a fact this is a software issue with leveno and windows8 but with out a warrenty we are lost and calling them is non-productive with out a warrenty. Any idea's would be loved....
    1. Fresh install of windows 8.1 pro (working)
    2. No touch screen, no WIFI, no BT and a lot other ????? in device mgr
    3. 1st updat was IO driver from leveno web site here and they both FAIL   http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/tablets/thinkpad-tablet-series/thinkpad-tablet-2
This is as far as we have gotten so far

  • Thinkpad Tablet 2 can't run Windows 10

Don't be fooled by the link to the drivers posted above! The first download link on that page (Description: Intel(R) Atom(TM) Processor Z2760 IPC with SCU Driver Installer)will not install the drivers you want, but will instead put a utility called "Driver Toolkit" on your computer that claims to find the necessary drivers and, for a price of at least $30, automate the driver installation process for you. Don't trust that program!  Instead, use the second download link, which has the legitimate driver installation process and does not cost a penny - just the way it's supposed to be. (Just to be sure, make sure the description above the button reads as followsDriver Version: 6.2.9200.28847Release Date: 2013-01-06File Size: 24.86MSupported OS: Windows XP 32bit, Windows Vista 32bit, Windows 7 32bit, Windows 8 32bit  UPDATE! Installing the drivers and a reboot later, the Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator compatiblity problem remains. So, the problem has yet to be solved!

I got same issue. I have clean installed Win10 on my TPT2. I used USB Installation media that was made by MS Win10 media creation tool. And drivers from Lenovo site. TPT2 has only one USB port, thus I used USB HUB Inland Wired 4 Port USB 2.0 HUB UPC Code: 012405088187. It worked fine very much.  The installation was OK, but I got a problem. The problem is that Pop up menu items that is from right clicked on icons that are on task bar disappeared. It was uncomfotable too much. Then I disabled Intel graphic media acceralator 9.14.3.1177 as the device driver at device manager display section. The driver is included in Intel Platform Driver for Windows 8.1 (32-bit), 8 (32-bit) - ThinkPad Tablet 2 http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/tablets/thinkpad-tablet-series/thinkpad-tablet-2/downloads/DS039909 And then it switched MS basic video driver automatically. It looked like OK. The problem was fixed. However, I found further 2 issues.1. Screen brightness is not changable. It may affect battery life time.2. Movie performace is not good. Another things were looked like OK. Finally, I abandoned Win10 on TPT2 by the video problem, even though I spent 3 days for this issue.

  • Thinkpad Tablet 2 issues with installing Windows 8.1 Pro

I have a Thinkpad Tablet 2 and haveput the 32 bit version of Windows 8.1 Pro onto a USB drive. In BIOS, my tablet identifies the drive correctly and I have successfully put given it the highest boot priority. When I start up with the USB drive in, the install for Windows 8.1 shows up. However, at this install I am unable to interact with what is displayed on the screen at all. I have tried using the physical buttons on the tablet, tapping the screen, and even a bluetooth keyboard (which I get the feeling won't work without drivers). Do I maybe have the wrong kind of install? I used the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and also followed some instructions I saw on this forum that involved use of the command prompt to create a partition on the USB Drive (I can't seem to find them again).
I'm sorry if this question has been addressed before; I am new to this forum and my attempts to search for this problem have yielded no results.

  • I am unable to get the windows TIP for Tablet PCs to auto pop up when clicking with a stylus or my finger. What add-on/setting will fix this?

I have a lenovo Thinkpad Convertible tablet. In the past I've been able to get it were the Windows TIP pops up when I click on a text input field. This function no longer works, I have a new computer, and whatever change I'd done to my old computer is not readily apparent. Any help in getting text input fields to pop up the TIP automatically would be great. Until then, in tablet mode, I have to use my computer with IE or keep the TIP at the taskbar to click on, but that's a lot of movement and rather annoying.

Actually the setting is called: '''intl.enable_tsf_support'''
Note the underscore instead of the dot.
I had to enable this settings for TIP to work on my HP EliteBook 2740p after installing the driver from Wacom's website.
When I was using the Wacom driver supplied from Windows Update however the TIP worked even fine without this setting.
I've documented the issue and solution here at my blog for other Tablet PC users who encounter this problem: [http://www.unlogic.se/blogs/myblog/post/firefox-tip Firefox and the Tablet PC Input Panel (TIP)]

  • ThinkPad Tablet 10 - WIndows 10 upgrade icon not appearing

I have a ThinkPad 10 with 64 bit Windows 8.1. My two ThinkPad laptops both have the Windows 10 upgrade icon but this has not happened for my Tablet 10. I've done all of the Lenovo and Windows updates, so it's up to date. The GWX folder is in the appropriate place.   Any help with this appreciated as I can't think of any other things to try.

Yes you will be able to upgrade to Windows 10. Now, if you are asking whether Lenovo will support the uprade, meaning provide Windows 10 specific drivers, that is a different question. In the situation that you computer doesn't have direct support from Lenovo you could just see if there are Windows 8.1 Drivers available for your machine. You could use those in Windows 10 without a problem.  Be sure to backup important files, and download all the important drivers before installing the new OS. Also take not of  your Windows 7 Pro Key, as the Windows 10 upgrade will need that information.

  • Thinkpad Tablet 2 : stylus stops workings after 30 seconds on Windows 8.1 ant Windows 10 TP

I've read other threads about that on this Forum nut never seen an official Lenovo support answer. So I re-ask the question :
On the Lenovo thinkpad Tablet 2 with built-in stylus (and also digitizer), this one is unuseable after  Windows 8.1 upragde.
I tried windows 10 TP with same results.
I installed Wacom drivers from Lenovo support website.
Is there a liable solution to get it working ? Or the TPT2 is only made for Windows 8.0 ?

Windows upgrades have never been nice; I've always recommended a clean install to the newer version. Maybe try that with 8.1?
