Windows 10 Requirement for Microsoft Account

I am trying Windows 10 Technical Preview... I tried to use skype and it requires a Microsoft account.  My options appear to be remove windows 10 or change skype.

You can install Skype desktop version and login with any account.

  • Deployment of Windows 8 and Microsoft account

    Hi,
I have a situation where I am deploying Windows 8.1 to desktops connected to a 2008 R2 domain
    Scenario:
    * Each client PC is running Windows 8.1
    * Each client PC signs on to internal domain controller ([email protected])
    * Each user account has an office 365 sign on which is syncronised with active directory (Microsoft organisational account)
It would now appear that each user requires a microsoft / live account to benefit from apps, windows store etc..
Does anyone know of a procedure where the organisational account for office 365 can be used for this (which i dont think is possible) or perhaps any way of bulk registering my office 365 users for a microsoft/live account and syncronise the passwords.
Anyone come across this issue before?
**Mods, if i have put this in the wrong category, please feel free to move it**
    Thanks,
    M
If you find my information useful, please rate it. :-)

Having similar issues/concerns to yourself, I have been researching for a solution. While I have not found any real solution, there are two work-arounds that I am contemplating. Please let me know if either of these could help yourself, or if you have found
    better or improved solutions.
    Process 1.
    1) For each Office 365 account, also create a Microsoft Account
    2) Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\OneDrive\"Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage" to "Enabled", to ensure that the Microsoft Account's OneDrive is disabled so the user does not accidental store company data to the
Microsoft Account's OneDrive but only has access to the Office 365's OneDrive for business.
    3) When a user leaves, delete their Office 365 account and then also delete their Microsoft Account (see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/account-close-account). Remember to transfer any required company data from their Office 365 OneDrive account
to the corporate Team Sites before deleting their Office 365 account.
    or
    Process 2.
    1) You can totally disable the use of Microsoft Accounts and the Windows Store, while still allowing users to make used of already installed Windows Store Apps.
    2) If you have a Windows AD server you can use side-loading to install apps. Or you could install the apps before disabling Windows Store.
    3) You can still enable the automatic updating of Windows Store Apps, even when the Windows Store is disabled.
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\"Accounts: Block Microsoft accounts" to "Users can't add or log on with Microsoft accounts"
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Internet Communications Management\Internet Communications settings\"Turn off access to the Store" to "Disabled"
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\App runtime\"Allow Microsoft accounts to be optional" to "Enabled"  (NB: allows the use of Windows Store apps even when the use of a Microsoft Account is disabled)
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Store\"Turn off the Store application" to "Enabled"
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Store\"Turn off Automatic Download and Install of updates" to "Enabled"
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Store\"Turn off Automatic Download of updates on Win8 machines" to "Enabled"
    If you want to disable Syncing of data, see;
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Sync your settings\"Do not sync passwords"
I am very interested to learn if there are more Group Policies that could be, or should be, used to manage Microsoft Accounts and the Windows Store.

  • [Microsoft Store][Profile][Billing] How Do I Change Country/Residence for Microsoft Account? Editing Your Microsoft Account Profile for Microsoft Store. SOLVED: Change Home Location

    Hello,
I am experiencing problems with using my Microsoft Account for billing and purchasing apps in Windows store.
I am using my old WLID that I've created several years ago, and I have obsolete information including my country residence there. Now when I go to
    https://billing.microsoft.com, I see that I have 2 profiles:
    Personal profile: US
    Business profile: Russia.
Now the problem is that I want my personal profile be changed to Russia as well. Having US in the profile makes it impossible to make purchases from Microsoft Store because Store does not allow for changing country when making purchases via PayPal.
    Currently I have this information:
I need the Country/Residence information to be changed to Russia. How do I do that?
    I am stuck.
How do I change country for my Microsoft Account?
If it's not possible, would I be able to continue using my Microsoft Account with old residence/country information while making purchases through a new Microsoft account where I have specified my current residence?
Or is it the same as with Windows Phone 7:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2692008
If yes, do I understand that I have to start all my 'virtual living' from scratch to use Microsoft Store? In other words, do I have to sign-in into Windows 8 with a new Microsoft Account that will have Russia specified as a Country/Region to purchase apps
    from Microsoft Store?
If yes, can I use this new account only for purchasing apps while continuing to use my old account or all purchased apps are strictly tied to this new Microsoft Account I will use for purchasing?
    Thank you.
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

    Hello,
    Thanks to
this post @ Microsoft Answers, I was able to make Microsoft Store use correct information of my current country residence.
//The drawback in my case was that I lost the possibility to pay with Paypal, although Paypal supports payments in Russia, and, most importantly, I lost access to US marketplace, all comments/reviews are now in Russian. What a bummer! Honestly, I'd
like to have access to US store... Seems like the only workaround it to switch Home location for the time I purchase an app and change back when the app is purchased.
To change the Country/region data used for Payment and Billing in Microsoft Store,
Press WindowsKey+W to show Start screen and focus on searching in
    Settings.
Type 'region' (without quotes) and open Region dialog box when found.
In the Region dialog switch to Location tab and change the country of choice in the
    Home location drop-down list.
Click OK to apply changes and make them effective.
Open Store and press WindowsKey+I to show settings charms then choose
    Your account.
In the Your account screen click Add payment method to configure your payment settings that will be used for purchasing apps from Windows Store.
    Notice Country/region value has changed.
This country will be specified in Country/residence within Payment and Billing in Microsoft Store app.
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

  • Certificate Requirement for Microsoft RDS 2012

    Hi All,
I planning to deploy RDS VDI and remote app service, Please help me to understand the certificate
requirement for server authentication, publication, SSO , etc.
    Internet URL is
    https://RDSVDI.domain.net
    My servers are in .local
    RD Licensing Server--------RDSLICSVR.Domain.LOCAL
    RD Connection Broker-----RDSCB.Domain.LOCAL
    RD Web Access------------RDSWEBSVR.Domain.LOCAL
    RD Session Host-----------RDSSHSVR.Domain.LOCAL
    RD Visualization Host-------RDSVHSVR.Domain.LOCAL
    RD Gateway Server -------RDGWSVR.Domain.LOCAL
What kind of Certificate do i required to launch Desktop and RemoteApp without any error.

    Hi,
    1. I would recommend a wildcard certificate (*.domain.net) purchased from a trusted public authority such as GoDaddy, VeriSign, Thawte, etc.  This wildcard certificate would be used for all RDS purposes.
    2. On the internal network you will need to create a DNS zone for domain.net with A records pointing to the private ip addresses, similar to the following:
rdsvdi.domain.net --> private ip address of your RD Web server
rdscb.domain.net --> private ip address of your RD Connection Broker
rdsgwsvr.domain.net --> private ip address of your RD Gateway server (this is only needed if you want to use RDG for internal users)
    3. On the Internet you will need DNS records similar to the following:
rdsvdi.domain.net --> public ip address for your RD Web server
rdgwsvr.domain.net --> public ip address for your RD Gateway server
    4. You will need to change the published FQDN for your RDS deployment to rdscb.domain.net using the cmdlet below:
Change published FQDN for Server 2012 or 2012 R2 RDS Deployment
    http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Change-published-FQDN-for-2a029b80
    5. You may need to modify your RD RAP in RD Gateway Manager. For example, you could edit the properties of the RD RAP, Network Resource tab, and select Allow users to connect to any network resource.
    6. You should make sure that all client PCs have RDP 8.1 Client (6.3.9600) installed for best results connecting to Server 2012 R2.
    7. For domain-joined PCs you may choose to set the SHA thumbprint of your certificate via group policy setting so that they will not be prompted when launching RemoteApps.
    8. It is preferred for users to use IE to connect to RD Web Access and select the Private option if possible (as long as the PC is not public).  When prompted they should Allow the Activex control to run.

  • Information required for Microsoft Azure cloud hosting

I am looking for hosting my application on Azure cloud server and would like to inform you that my application is in ASP.NET 3.5 with database on SQL Server 2008 R2.
Before we proceed further with Microsoft Azure cloud hosting, I would like to clarify some of my below mentioned queries:
    Hosting:
What are the plans of hosting along with pricing and server configuration.
How many applications we can host.
How much space we will get.
Can we deploy and run some exe, which we developed for sending email.
Currently we are using InProc session. What modification will be required by the application.
Can we point our DNS to the application we host.
We do development on our On-Premise environment, do we also get any staging/testing server along with production server.
Does the usage of application on staging server is chargeable.
How many instances we will be getting for one application
Does environment automatically increase or decreases the instances in use as per increase or decrease in load.
    SQL Azure:
Which version of SQL Server we will get.
Does SQL Azure is compatible with all the features and datatypes of SQL Server 2008 R2? If not then please let us know features and datatypes which are not supported by SQL Azure.
What all SQL Server version’s database can be restored on SQL Azure.
What will be the database size.
Will the database will be in the same datacenter where our application reside.
How many database we can create
How we can take database backup, is there any control panel for that.
How we can schedule database backups
Can we restore our On-Premise database with the database bakup taken from SQL Azure.
Can we connect database from our local machine with “SQL Server Management Studio”.

    Hi SanVerma,
    Thanks for your posting!
From your description, I think firstly you need confirm which one host service could meet your target. I suggest you could refer to this page about Azure Websites, Cloud Services, and Virtual Machines comparison:

  • Windows requirements for SAP ECC6 EhP7

    Hi experts,
we want to install SAP ECC6 EhP7 on Windows Server (2008 or above). I've already checked on the PAM its feasability, with Kernel 7.40. The DB would be Oracle 11.2.0.4.
I've found that for hardware that: 4 CPU ~2GHz each with 10 Gb Memory and 500 Gb Disk is the minimum (tell me if I'm wrong), but now I'm more interested in the software part.
So I'm trying to find info about windows package (language and else) necessary for SAP ECC6.0 EhP7 installation. I tried to find notes about it but in vain...
Could you give me some tips ?
    Thank you for your time,

  • Windows 8.1 Firewall + Microsoft Account Logon

    Hi,
I am a frequent SkyDrive user. With Windows 8.1, the SkyDrive integration has changed. In order to use SkyDrive, I have to register with my Microsoft account at my local machine now. I am actually fine with that design decision of yours.
But I always used to set the default behavior for outgoing connections in Windows Firewall to "block" and I want to keep it that way because - as a software developer for client/server-apps - I want to be in complete control of which network interface
    emits what data packages.
Using the tools from Microsoft SysInternals, I was able to reverse engineer the communication process and determine most of the required rules. But there is one firewall rule that I cannot figure out. Currently, I have the following rules:
    General
Predefined: Core Networking - DNS (UDP-Out)
Predefined: Core Networking - Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP-Out)
Predefined: Core Networking - Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6(DHCPV6-Out)
Custom: %ProgramFiles% (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -> Without limitations, for writing this message!
    For SkyDrive:
Custom: %SystemRoot%\System32\SkyDrive.exe -> Without limitations (for the moment)!
Custom: %SystemRoot%\FileManager\FileManager.exe -> Without limitations (for the moment)!
    For Microsoft Account Login:
Custom: %SystemRoot%\System32\AuthHost.exe -> Without limitations (for the moment)!
Another rule is required for logging into my Microsoft account successfully. But I cannot figure out what it should look like. The SysInternals Process Monitor shows that that SVCHOST (Network Services Instance / HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\nsi)
attempts a connect during the Microsoft Account sign-on procedure. However, adding firewall exceptions ("Apply to this Service: ...") for any of the associated services doesn't have any effect. Even creating a rule where "Apply to services only"
    is checked doesn't work.
However, setting a rule that allows "This program: %SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe" to pass the outgoing firewall works fine. How can it be that a program-executable based rule for SVCHOST.EXE works, while a rule for all services ("Apply
    to services only") does not?
I am completely puzzled by this. Is there a hidden service that cannot be seen - even with having the elevated local Administrator credentials - and that is not automatically included when a firewall rule that has "Apply to services only" checked
is created? The most minimalistic (working) rule I could find so far is as follows:
    This program: %SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe
    Protocol Type: TCP
    Remote IP Addresses: 131.253.61.80
    Other Settings: <default>
However, this is not a setting I want to keep. It is too common. And I also do not want to reference specific hosts directly by their IPs because these IPs might change in the future. Furthermore, creating a exception rule for SVCHOST.EXE produces lots of
warning messages in MMC. Apparently, the Windows Firewall thinks that such a rule can have undesired effects on the firewall subsystem that controls the service based filtering.
I really hope you can help me with this. Thorough online research has shown that other people are also looking for a solution to this problem.

  • Is it possilbe to totally disable the use of Microsoft Accounts in Windows 8.x ?

The existence and need of "Microsoft Accounts" in Windows 8.x causes many issues for corporate IT management.
    1) To access Windows 8.x Mail App, Calendar App, etc, OneDrive, Skype, to upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1, and the Windows Store requires a Microsoft Account.
    2) Not all users have or will want to have their own personal Microsoft Account
    3) It is possible for the corporate IT department to create Microsoft Accounts for each of the company Users, but it is an extra burden and difficult to manage these accounts.
Potentially the simplest solution is to be able to totally disable the use of Microsoft Accounts in Windows 8.x, is this possible?

    Hello,
You have the choice of uninstalling the metro apps ou use the GPO to block the use of Microsoft account.
    Please see the followings links:

  • Managing Microsoft Accounts in a Small Business

Windows 8.1 pcs and tablets suggest that users "sign in with your Microsoft Account". This is so their settings can sync between devices.
How do I centrally manage and administer these Microsoft Accounts? with Windows Intune? is there another way?

There is no central management for Microsoft Accounts. It would be nice if there was. However, they're supposed to be semi-personal.

  • Hi would like to know if i can use any windows 7 for bootcamp or do i need to buy a certain one? Also is it recommended to upgrade my ram?

I am trying to bootcamp my MacBook Pro (late 2011 model) and i need help. on what windows 7 to get and how much ram to upgrade

Assuming that you have the 15" Late 2011 MBP - MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011) - Technical Specifications, you can go up to 16GB RAM. From the base 4GB to 8GB and then 16GB.
If up plan to switch between OS X and Windows, 4GB may be sufficient, but if you plan to use both simultaneously using a Virtualization solution, then more RAM helps.
From Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions
Which versions of Windows work with Boot Camp 5.1?
    You can use:
    Microsoft Windows 8.0 and 8.1 (64-bit)
    Microsoft Windows 8.0 and 8.1 Pro (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
    Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Enterprise versions of Windows 7 and Windows 8 are not supported.
Are 32-bit versions of Windows 7 and 8 supported?
No. Boot Camp 5 supports 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8.0 and 8.1 only. Boot Camp 4 supports 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Windows 7, depending on the Mac model you have. For more information, see Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems.

I'd never seen this window before the most recent update and am not sure that I want to agree to it.  What does it do and considering security, should I agree to sign in?

    Good day Jonsmom,
It sounds as if there is a Google account in your Internet accounts that is trying to be accessed by some service when you log in to your MacBook Air.
If you go to System Preferences (under the Apple Menu) and select Internet Accounts, are there one or more Google accounts listed? See this article -

If this is the case you may need to reenter the password for the account.

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2 Remote Management with Windows 8.1 using Microsoft Account (Workgroup)

    Hello,
I've set up a Hyper-V 2012 R2 Server and tried to manage it from a Windows 8.1 with a Microsoft Account. Everything is in the same workgroup. After many searches, the only way is set up the server for remote access, install RSAT and log on with an Administrator
account from the server in Server Manager console.
So, this situation generates a question: since it's impossible to set up a Microsoft Account in Hyper-V server as a local user, it's impossible to use "the same account and password" way to establish a link between server and desktop? I must use
a remote account for connection? Why Windows 8.1 local account and online account can't be merged as a single account?
By the way, there are some consoles that cmdkey doesn't work, so it's not an option.
    Best regards.
    Herleson Pontes MCT | MCITP | MCSA | MCTS | MCP | MOS http://www.herlesonpontes.com.br – [email protected]

I have not fully tried this myself but I know this:
A microsoft account can only be added to Server as a User, and only after Desktop Experience has been added.  This is also how you enable the MSFT Store on Server.
This also requires a Full install of Server and is not possible on the free Hyper-V Server SKU.
But, the legacy Server Manager console that Hyper-V Manager is built on has no concept of this new user account type.  And neither does Kerberos (the default security mechanism).
So, my guess is that the best you can do is treat it the same as any workgroup machines.
If you use Azure AD and sync your domain credentials, you have the password equivalent.  But you still require some AD in the middle.  This is simply the current state of affairs.
