Windows 10 update killed my laptop, P2PP BurnBoot Check Failed( restoration incomplete)
I tryed to update to windows 10, but I was in audit mode and could not, I rebooted my laptop out of audit mode and had to restore some software and settings, the restore failed and gave me this BurnBoot error.
I have already tried resetting the BIOS, changing time, putting it in legacy mode etc, still did not work, please help me!
I suggest to try performing a system recovery but set your expectation that this will remove everything that you have from your laptop and will set it up just like a brand new one again, then if you still have plans of going to WIndows 10 upgrade I strongly recommend to run all updates first through WIndows Update and HP SUpport Assistant Here's the guide to perform System Recovery http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03489643 Hope this helps

HP ENVY dv6 Notebook PC and error "P2PP BurnBoot Check Failed "
Hi,
I just had a new hard drive put in to my laptop but can't get the recovery media for Windows 8 and drivers to install. It runs the 4 disks that originally came with my laptop. However, after restarting and attempting to install the media, it provides the error message "P2PP BurnBoot Check Failed." I ran tests on the hard drive and memory and both passed just fine. I read about the BIOS date but mine is already set for 2012. Any suggestions?Hi,
One other possible option you could consider is the following.
Download the OEM Windows 8 Image file on the following link - Note that this Image file is subject to a download cap, so you may need to try over a period of a few hours before the download starts successfully.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?pli=1
If you need a utility to create a bootable Flash Drive for this Image, try the free application below.
http://rufus.akeo.ie/
The product key for Windows 8 is encrypted in your bios chip and will be automatically read during installation.
Additional software and drivers you may require can be found by entering either your full Model No. or Product No. Here.

Sleekbook 6 Recovery fails with P2PP burnboot check failure
I have an HP Sleekbook 6-1019nr laptop. I just purchased System Restore media for this notebook. The system originally came with Win 7 Home. I received the restore media, connected the device to an External USB DVD drive to the unit and started the restore Process. No errors were found until the very end and then i got a message indicating the restore failed and would like to review the log.
I am posting the log for reference. i have seen other indicate in the forms to change the BIOS clock to 2012 to resolve this issue and reimage, which i have tried but the error persists.
The only error I can see is the wallpaper failed to load...I don't see any other failures in the log but maybe I am not seeing another error.
Looking for some assistance. I can provide additional details but I am stuck as to my next step. If the media is the issue, i want to get it reported to HP.
P2PP BurnBoot Check Failed
Possible Causes:
1. Yellow-Bang occured at Device Manager
2. Some silent-install failure of applications
3. Found failed at PININST_BBV
4. Found failed at PININST_BBV2
5. Found Memory Dump file
Suggestion:
1. Checking REGDEV_BB.LOG for drivers
2. Checking BBApps.log for applications
3. Checking MEMDUMP_BBV.log for memory dump file
Note(for ODM):
If you know which component failed in preinstall process
after checking above files, please OTS it to the component owner.
Otherwise, suggest to contact TWN PDC NB-PreinPM or create PIN-Log and OTS it with OTS Category Image

P2PP Boot Check Failed - Pavilion dv6t-7000 Quad Edition (Windows 7) using Recovery Media
Hello, My name is Brandon Giesel and I have an HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Quad Edition laptop. I've been using Windows 7 recovery media (part # 689366-002) to attempt to restore my computer back to factory defaults. I run the recovery dvds as instructed with disc 1, disc 2, disc 3, and application and driver recovery dvd. I've tried reseting the bios back to setup defaults to be safe and I use the boot device options to select the built-in dvd/cd-rom drive. I've also installed a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium using the box set dvd I have laying around home and it installed no problem and boots to the desktop, but ofcourse doesn't have all the necessary drivers and hp software. I did this to confirm that hardware works properly. The computer also passes the start-up test. Memory and Hard Drive passed the test. The recovery seems to go through without a hitch until I hit the end and I get an error message that I believe is pointing to the network controller not functioning correctly. Error message down below... I used the same recovery media that I've used successfully in the past and tried 3 different sets of recovery media all with matching part numbers with no success. I also tried installing Windows using a MS box installation disc and installed the Realtec Ethernet Controller driver thinking that if I got the ethernet driver installed before doing the recovery that it would allow the recovery to go through successfully, but that didn't work either. Do you guys or gals have any ideas or suggestions on possible fixes? I'm open to advanced solutions. I've gone through Microsoft Windows 8.1 MCSA certification training, but this one has me absolutely stumped. Serial #: 2CE31510V5Product #: A5F76AVBios Version: F.0AProcessor Type: Intel Core i7-3610QM @ 2.3GHz Originally shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Error message: Recovery Manager: "The recovery attempt has failed. What you do to alleviate the issue is up to you, like I said.
I could think of more draconian methods to dim the lights.
You can get some black nail polish, or black enamel car paint in one of those small bottles, and paint over them if you want.
You can figure out a way to break them.
They are not designed to be turned off or dimmed with software or settings. -
Hi,
We work on a domain that uses Symantec Management console to administrate our patch enviroment. We have windows updates disabled. But our Windows 8 machines get this message once a month
"Windows update hasn't been able to check for updates for the last 30 days"
Just wondering if anyone knows which GPO to use to disable this setting as I have been unable to find it.
ThanksHi,
You can turn off the message by GUI in Control Panel\System and Security\Action Center, in the right pane, click "Change Action Center settings", then untick the "Windows Update" option.
For GPO, you can disable all balloon notifications:
User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Start Menu and Taskbar\Turn off all balloon notifications
Or remove Action Center icon itself
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\Remove the Action Center icon
And I haven't found a GPO to turn on\off a specific message mentioned in the action center, but the setting for the message is related with registry key under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Action Center\Checks
but the value under the key is binary, hard to control, if you have interest, you can export the key from a preference pc, then deploy the GPO via
User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Registry

Server 2012 Windows Update problems: There was a problem checking for updates Code 80240437
I get this problem when attempting to update Windows Server 2012.
Only thing that has changed since i last did the update to the problem is installing Lync Server 2013.
I have tried the solutions advised here http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/e7ba0364-154e-404c-a7e5-7cfe4fa3b5c4/windows-update-error-0x80240437-after-installing-lync-2013
But still no luck.
Any ideas?Hi,
In the link you posted above, I provided six suggestions. I would like to confirm that did you tried all of these suggestions?
If not, please try them and let us know the result.
================================
Suggestion 1: Temporarily disable firewall and antivirus program to test the issue.
Suggestion 2: Disable Windows Update service, rename the folder %windir%\SoftwareDistribution and restart the Windows Update service.
Suggestion 3: Reset Windows Update components to check the result. For the detailed steps, please refer to the following Microsoft KB article:
How do I reset Windows Update components?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
Suggestion 4: Run the System Update Readiness tool (Checksur.exe) to scan and repair the system files. If some files cannot be repaired automatically, you may replace them manually. For more information, please refer to the following Microsoft KB and TechNet
articles:
Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2

Was upgrading to Windows 10 on my Pavilion laptop; it was at 55% for quite a while. I left the room for half and hour, and came back to find that now my laptop has shut off and won't turn on!!

Windows update killed the sound on HP Pavilion
This is a HP Pavilion g7-1261nr Notebook PC. We were watching a video last week with the sound through the system speaker. The show was interrupted for a microsoft update. The updates installed, and laptop rebooted. When it started up again, the unit had no sound. I have rolled back the update and reinstalled. No changes. Updated the bios again and again, no change.
Windows has no answers. Any ideas?> Hi:
>
> I don't quite understand by your post regarding "rolling back the update and reinstalled."
>
> Do you mean you reinstalled the audio driver, or reinstalled the update?
Thanks, Paul. I rolled back and reinstalled the Windows update.
> If you didn't reinstall the audio driver from your notebook's support and driver page, try that.
OK, now I have don that and still no sound. Not even the annoying system sounds from Windows. The speaker tray still has a red X, and when I click on it, "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem,"
No change. Any other suggestions, please. -
3/11/15 Windows Update killed bluetooth on Thinkpad Tablet 2
So I just finished installing Windows updates from March 11 and my Bluetooth on my Thinkpad Tablet 2 is suddenly disabled. Anyone else having this problem?
I can't access Bluetooth settings. On the devices Control Panel, there is no Bluetooth Device under networking, but a Serial Bus device is displaying an error message. Disabling/Enabling the device and restarting does not help. It cannot be uninstalled, and when I try to update the driver it says there are no new drivers available.
I manually downloaded the latest BT driver from Lenovo support (it is several months old) and after it completes the re-installation/repair, there is still no BT. It seems like the driver is simply incompatible with the newly updated Windows OS. Let me know if you have any other ideas. Otherwise, Lenovo should be alerted to this problem so they can fix it.
I rely on my tablet daily for work and it's a major inconvenience when it becomes disabled by a routine update. The TPT2 is designed for use with the BT Keyboard.
Thanks for any help you can give.Something's definitely gone wrong. I can enable Bluetooth, and can pair with my Windows Phone, but I can no longer share files from my phoine to the Tablet. That alone is a big pain in the butt.
I rarely use my bluetooth keyboard. It always had the same problem that at some random point, it woudl disconnect from the Tablet, and the only way to get it to reconnect was to cycle the Bluetooth on and off. Easier said than done when the tablet is docked. I gave up after a while, and use either a Logitech wireless keyboard or usb keyboards.
The March Rollup ironically included a fix that specifcially addressed the keyboard lock out. Apparenttly, if the PC had BT 4.0 (which ours does), and it could see other devices other than just the keyboard, then it would disconnect the keyboard, and cycling power on the keyboard would not fix the problem. The MS patch was designed to fix this specific issue. I don't recall the KB #.
That said, hopefully Lenovo will see these issues being reported, and update the drivers. -
W510 Lenovo Bluetooth windows update killed USB Keyboard
Hi all,
Yesterday afternoon (14 M!R 2012) I ran a windows 7 update that included a Lenovo update. It was some kind of bluetooth thing, but I'm not really sure the exact name. Foolishly, I chose to include this in the update. When I performed the updates and restarted the machine my USB keyboard no longer works. There were 13 updates available for install. 9 of them were critical updates and 4 were optional. I installed 3 of the 4 optional and all of the critical. So when I discovered that the keyboard didn't work, I rollback the update to the last good configuration and the problem persisted. When I looked at what updates were available, 12 of the 13 were there, but the Lenovo bluetooth one wasn't on the list, leading me to believe that it didn't get rolled back.
What I've noticed is that the keyboard is recognized by windows, but I can't type anything. Furthermore, when I do type a few characters with it, after about 5 seconds I hear the "disconnected a USB device" sound. So something is definitely strange, but I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas? I really need the full sized ergo keyboard. The tiny laptop keyboard kills my hands. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I really need my big keyboard or my hands are killing me.
Thanks,
TrippTotally generic. I have no idea why the bluetooth update would affect it. I'm just pointing the finger there b/c that was the only update that doesn't seem to have been undone by the windows restore operation. At one point last night windows performed an update on the usb drivers, but sadly that didn't solve anything. It's bizarre because windows can see the keyboard, it just doesn't work. Windows doesn't seem to think that there's anything wrong with device and it says the drivers are up to date.

Nokia 920 Windows update killed my phone
I woke to the phone wanting to update Windows, been a Sunday morning I proceeded. After eventually completing the update the phone says its in flight mode, if I take it out of flight mode it locks up !, i do have at least WiFi access. If i go to phone or text it bounces back to the home screen. Any application that will run locks the phone and I need to do a 3 finger reset to get it back.
Use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool to recover your
phone if you have software or software update problems. If your phone is
not responding, it appears to be stuck or is not starting you can try
to recover it at home before initiating a repair.

Latest update killing my laptop!!!
Anyone else notice this? It is actually painfully slow.
15" Macbook Pro with 2.33 core2 duo with 256 video ram and 2 gigs of system ram. The hard drive is less than 50% full. Even a reboot doesn't cure the problem.
It wasn't like this 2 weeks ago. I suspect either the OSX updates or the Aperture update. It seems like that was the tipping point.Well it seems that Aperture is grinding everything to a halt when I first fire it up. Every time Aperture starts I see the busy icon spinning (the one at the bottom to the left of the Aperture controls). Clicking on this brings up the "Background Task List" which states the Image manager is processing 5 previews. Once it finishes with the 5 everything flies as it did before but while it's processing this thing grinds to a virtual standstill and the fans spin up to 6000 rpm.
If I wait until the 5 previews finish, shutdown Aperture and fire it up again it says the same thing "Processing 5 previews" every time.
Is this normal?
Seems kind of strange, why wouldn't it just process all of the previews it needs?
I've never noticed this kind of slowdown before.
Any ideas? -

Laptop was restared multple times as it was being displayed on screen. I could see there were Softwares being installed, Service setting, registry setting being applied to computer and after around 1 to 1.5 hours laptop gets shut down, so i beleive all installations have been [performed.
Now when i start my laptop, it says
Windows was not shut down properly choose an option and when i seelct either of the 4 options like Satrt normally or Start with command prompt or Start with Networking...everytime it takes me to screen giving belwow message:

Scheduler and windows update unavailable / unresponsive,
Issue:
Windows Update & Task Scheduler stop working, RDP then fails and a day later the system eventually becomes completely unresponsive and require a reboots to resolve, servers are needing to be rebooted every week on average.
Environment:
Server 2012: all receive same windows updates and have the same running services and applications installed,
all mirror images of DB01
DB01*Displaying Symptoms mentioned below
DB02*fine
DB03*fine
Non Microsoft Services running:
EMC Backup Agent
AVG Antivirus
Enterprise Recon Node - Ground labs
GFI LanGuard 11
BMC Server Automation Agent
WMware Tools Service
Link to Warnings Link to Errors
Symptoms:
Windows Update is not working
(stuck in stopping state, accessing via control panel is unresponsive)
Task Scheduler not working
it shows a stop sign / busy sign (Service is running, cannot see or create scheduled tasks)
RDP eventually stops working.
Above 3 services are started by the same instance (PID) of svchost.exe , killing the svchost.exe instance that started scheduler and windows update services also kills RDP and is not a solution.

As per my research, those events which related to Device Setup Manager generated because Device Setup Manager just goes out and pings windows update
every night to see if any devices that are installed and set up to use Windows Update to update the corresponding drivers.
Currently, I suggest we make sure the drivers on your server are all up to date via Device Manager. Meanwhile, please try setting up the Windows Update settings from
installing update automatically to manually installing updates. Then restart the server to monitor the issue.
After all the above, if the issue persists, could you please help collect the following information?
=====================================
1. Run the following command and upload the system information.
msinfo32 /nfo C:\SYSSUM.NFO /categories +systemsummary
2. Does the issue still occur in Clean Boot mode?
If you have any questions or additional information, feel free to let me know.
Thanks for your time.

Sophia Sun

Windows 8.1 Professional x64: Windows will not run Windows Update after fresh install
Greetings everyone. I'm having a strange issue that I can't seem to figure out. I'm developing an image with the following specs:
Hardware:
Dell XPS 12 Ultrabook Convertible
Haswell i7
8 GB RAM
256 SSD HD
Software:
Windows 8.1 Professional x64
Problem description:
After formatting and partitioning the hard drive (UEFI) with a corporate copy of Windows 8.1 x64, the laptop is booted up in Audit mode. No OEM drivers or software is installed. Windows is then activated to the KMS server and verified.
I then connect to a hotspot (no proxy required) and open up IE 11. I click tools and select Windows Update. The laptop then searches and searches for updates and never finds any. I've let it search for over 10 hours. The laptop never
returns an error message.
Troubleshooting performed:
1. I've tried different copies of Windows 8.1 - same result.
2. I've tried installing the OS with different types of media (external hd and multiple bootable USB drives) - same result.
3. I've disable the Windows Update service, deleted the contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder, restarted the Windows Update service and rebooted laptop - same result
4. I've installed this copy of Windows 8.1 on different models of laptops with no OEM drivers or software installed - same result.
5. I've installed all of the OEM device drivers in the correct order and ensured that the device manager is clear of bang signs - same result.
6. Date and time is set correctly.
Has anyone else experienced this with Windows 8.1 x64? If I take a copy of Windows 7 x64 or 8 x64 and install it on this laptop, it updates Windows without any issues. The problem seems to be with Windows 8.1.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.2014-03-04 13:49:52:826
